Sammy and Tyrone have been friends since childhood. As adults, they do not get to see each other as often. They have planned a trip to Tyrone’s deceased uncles’ cabin. Being excited to get away and do some fishing and drinking. They do not know the horror that lies ahead. They are about to enter a weekend that will have them confused on whether they are in a dream or reality. This is another old short story I wrote in 1999. This was the second one I wrote. I have re-written it, I’ve taken some sections out and replaced it with others. This one is the goriest one I’ve written and it isn’t for a younger audience.
Jason R. Cash was born in Anniston, Alabama, and grew up with a love for storytelling that followed him throughout his life. In 2016, he and his wife Lori moved to the Gulf Coast, where the laid-back lifestyle, close-knit communities, and endless inspiration from the water and people around him began to shape not only his career but also his writing. Jason is the proud father of three adult children and “Paw Paw” to three wonderful grandchildren who bring joy and laughter into his life. Family has always been at the heart of everything he does, and that sense of connection, loyalty, and perseverance often shines through in his stories. His novels range from the tender and heartfelt—like Simple, a story of innocence and resilience—to gripping suspense and action, as seen in Escape, Neighbor, General Population, and the Darkness series. His writing style blends vivid description and down-to-earth realism with a touch of haunting atmosphere, inviting readers to step into worlds where ordinary people face extraordinary circumstances. When Jason isn’t writing, he and Lori run a successful real estate business on the Alabama Gulf Coast. Together, they enjoy helping families find their place in a region that has become their own beloved home. Whether on the page or in person, Jason’s greatest passion is sharing stories—about houses, about people, and about life on the Gulf Coast
