I seriously loved this book SO MUCH!! Getting a glimpse of who Madison and Dash are before we fully meet them in the Draft is EVERYTHING!

Dash and Madison🏒
What’s it like being the baby sister to a guy who is on the hockey team? Lonely. Madison is Cade’s baby sister and he is protective as hell. So of course that means that he’s got the ‘look at my baby sister and I’ll break your bones’ vibe going on. The only anything thing is that they all listen. Expect for Henry who is also on the hockey team with Madisons brother and insists they keep the what we’re doing a secret.
And then there is Dash Bridges, Madison’s brother’s best friend. Who punched George when he found him cheating on Madison with his girlfriend and ever since then Maddison hasn’t been able to think about anyone other than Dash.
It’s all a mess, he’s her brother’s best friend and she is off limits, but that doesn’t stop her wanting him or hoping that he would want her too. Dash protected Madison that day. In that moment is when she knew that what Dash did for her is what it’s supposed to feel like but will he always see her and her best friend’s baby sister.
I loved this story. It’s the perfect introduction to Dash and Madison. The connection between is clearly there between them, but the warnings and signs that’s it’s a bad idea linger. When Dash takes out Henry for hurting Madison, it feels as if it’s the first time he’s allowed himself to really see her and recognise the feelings he’s never acted on.

This is a Prequel to "The Draft".
This was a quick, high-school story. Madison was dating Henry in secret knowing her brother wouldn't approve of her dating one of his hockey players. Dash, Madison brothers best friend catches Henry kissing Amy his girlfriend. Madison sees and is upset that Henry was lying. Dash fights Henry in the honor of saving Madison and promises himself that he will never see her this upset ever again. Little did they both know that they have deep crushes and feelings for each other. Madison has been in love with forever and Dash has had a crush on her but was afraid to mess it all up with his best friend with Cade her brother. Can't wait to see in the next book how their relationship evolved.

Eeeeekkk! These Two, Yesss! I Want More!!!
This prequel is an amazing set up to what I know is going to be a fantastic story. Brother’s Best Friend, yessss please! Dash is loyal to his best friend so I’m excited to see how this will play out in the next book, The Draft.
Ana’s writing is amazing and sooo swoony, that spin the bottle scene had me on the edge of my seat!!! I loved this. Great introduction to the characters and to get us ready for the next book! Let’s Go!!! I’m ready!

This little breadcrumb has me FERAL for The Draft!! I love the tension we can already see between Mads & Dash; I just know this slow burn is gonna have be all sort of giddy!!! Also love how protective he is over her 😭🙂↕️

This made me need Dash and Madison story even more. Both like each other, but Dash cares more about his friendship with her brother. And he's leaving for college and doesn't want her to have a long distance relationship, so he let's her go, and she feels rejected, not knowing his real feelings. Ugh my stomach was in knots!

This is the perfect little taste of Dash and Madison before you get to their story. I absolutely love the build up of his feelings and hers but that he couldn't step over the threshold to be with her .. perfect amount of sugar and spice that now I'm fully invested in these two.

This was a quick read. It was also a great introduction to Madison and Dash's history. Along with showing Cade, Dash, and Madison in high school, it offers an inside look at the drama involving Madison's ex-boyfriend. It's a great read and won't let you down. Read this before you start reading The Draft.

Novellas are tough to begin with because the minimal word count necessitates in depth character development sufficient to hook the reader into wanting to learn more about the rest of the story. This one meanders through a decided lack of chemistry, stilted conversations, and immature characters who left me ambivalent as to the next step in their journey.
