Journalist and editor of The Branson Tribune, Kate Saxee, has a lot going on. Her mom is in a war with a neighbor, Kate’s trying to navigate her love life after a memorable night, and it looks like a serial killer might be on the loose in her small rural community that’s getting bigger by the day.
Utah’s population is booming and new houses are being built faster than new Mormon/LDS temples. When human remains are found on a piece of Branson Falls property being developed, everyone thinks the bones belong to a lost hiker. But when more human remains are found, it quickly becomes clear that this was no accident.
Rumors are swirling that the remains could have been victims of a notorious serial killer, and that attracts the attention of a popular true crime podcast, the Murderoonies, who descend on Branson Falls to cover the case and help Kate investigate. And they're not just covering the crime, they're also very interested in Kate's love life.
Drake is the legal representative for the real estate developers, and Hawke is assisting law enforcement, which means Kate is working closely with them both. Given what happened at the Halloween party, that's about as awkward as "hussy" Kate in church.
Kate's focused on finding out who's responsible for the dead bodies, and she's digging up secrets all over town. Someone wants the information she's uncovering to remain hidden, and they'll do anything to make sure it stays that way...even if it means burying more bodies.

Destiny Ford is a pseudonym for author Angela Corbett.
As a child, Angela Corbett’s most prized possession was a set of read-along books. She used to follow along with the narrator and dream of when she would be able to read by herself. Her childhood reading habit led her to consider her future career. However, after consulting with her parents, she realized she had already exceeded hobbit height and since fairies and dragonslayers were tricky jobs to get, she decided she wanted to create worlds of her own.
Angela is a USA Today Bestselling author, and a graduate of Westminster College where she double majored in communication and sociology and minored in business. She has worked as a journalist, freelance writer, and director of communications and marketing. She lives in Utah with her extremely supportive husband and their dog, S'more. She loves classic cars, traveling, puppies, and can be bribed with The People's Coffee mochas.
She’s the author of Young Adult, New Adult, and Adult fiction—with lots of kissing. She writes under two names: Angela Corbett, and Destiny Ford.
Kate is back along with all the quirky characters of Branson Falls. And let’s not forget two sexy guys vying for her attention. Of course there are murders to solve! Lots of laughs, mystery, and hot guys that kept me entertained. LOVE this series and hope I don’t have to wait as long for the next installment!
Love this series!!! So glad it’s back! Kate is a great character and the story is always entertaining. Not sure who I’m wanting her to end up with, I’d take either. Can’t wait for the next one.
I loved the first three books in this series so I was really pleased to learn of this fourth book. After the first few chapters I became concerned. It seemed like the sole purpose of the book was Morman bashing. I don't know any Morman's but I'm not comfortable with repeatedly bashing religious beliefs. I was glad I stuck with it and read the whole book. In the end there was a reason for the bashing. I hope there will be a book number five.
With each “A Kate Saxee Mystery” book I think maybe this time I will show some discipline and stop reading each evening at a descent hour… And with each book… I totally throw that plan in the air and succumb to the most fun laugh out loud sexy mystery series … and read read read as quickly as possible. The problem with that… I am going to start the last book momentarily.
This is an easy read. I liked the plot, though the ending felt a bit rushed. I love Kate’s quirky sense of humor, but what I love even more is Hawke. Haha Can she make her decision, already? Lol Hopefully, in the next book. The Mormon culture is over the top and a bit annoying. I realize this is for people that haven’t grown up in Utah, but it’s extreme, which I find annoying. (This, coming from a non religious person). It mentions it, a lot! Otherwise, cute story.
Okay mystery, kind of ridiculous love interest relationships, seemed a bit derogatory of the Mormon religion (of which I'm not a member). I'm reminded why it took me so long to get to this fourth book in the series and why it took me so long to get through it. I've read worse for sure, but obviously not one of my favorites.
Wow, Kate live is just one turn after another. It is never a dull moment, when Drake and Hawke are involved in Kate’s life, and not forget her mother….. Looking forward to the next book and many more.
To anyone like for an entertaining series to read this is one.
THe CSNP reminded me of the maga movement people need to conform to out ways and no new ideas progress is bad. Just like maga progressive is a horrible thing had me thinking boy this sounds familiar. This book was a great read I love the humor and suspense.
This one was worth the wait! As always, Angela Corbett wrote this one with humor, mystery, and of course the slow burn I've come to expect from the Kate Saxee series. Definitely enjoyed this one!
I like this series because it is fun and I live in a Mormon community. This series pokes a little light hearted fun at the idiocies of a community like that. Fun fast read.
I really love this series and especially this episode. The plot was great and the characters are so engaging. The love triangle is fun but I'm rooting for Hawk.
If you are looking for a quirky, cute and funny, cozy mystery series, filled with endearing characters and intriguing plotlines, this series is for you. The latest installment in The Devil series, The Devil Shops on Sunday, is a delightful addition to the rest of the books. The main character, Kate, is a smart, beautiful journalist, who spends her time crime-solving, enjoying the attention of two sexy guys, and battling her small town's very conservative beliefs. Secondary characters, such as Kate's mom provide a lot of comic relief. In The Devil Shops on Sunday, Ms. Ford weaves some history on the Mormon church into her story, which I found fascinating. If you are not familiar with this series, I suggest you start with the first one, The Devil Drinks Coffee, although each book can definitely stand on its own.
