Winning a dream vacation is just the escape Isa Cushing needs. The Caribbean island of St. John gives the recent divorcée time and space to heal from her abusive marriage and the loss of her children in a nightmare custody decision. St. John has also brought her a new admirer in the form of semi-retired country music star Jack Kendall. There’s just one Jack’s producer wants him to put off retirement—and fall in love with her.
When Isa learns she’s pregnant and then discovers Jack in a compromising position with his producer, she returns to Maine, determined to focus on re-establishing her life and getting her children back. She didn’t count on her ex-husband showing up. Nor did she expect Jack to come to her hometown.
The country star is singing a new song, but will it be enough for Isa to put her trust in him? And who is the father of her baby? Find out in Book One of the new Cinnamon Bay series, coming soon from debut author Beatrix Eaton.
Read it straight through in one day. I think it was a beautiful story. Parts of it could have been expanded a bit ....I would have liked to know more about Jack's life and background . I felt as if Isa had no one (family) and I was unclear of how that came to be. I might have to reread....worth a reread!!! 😀
Waiting for the real St John Cinnamon Bay to show up
I couldn't get past the first few chapters. Sex with a husband who is taking your children and house away the next day in a divorce settlement is insane followed by sex with someone shortly after you meet him in an island bar was a bit too much. Background research about St John was skimpy (in the British Virgin Islands you drive from the right side of the car not the US Virgin Islands) Maybe the plot got better but why waste my time?
A friend recommended this book to me Even though I know it is written by a new author. I didn't know anything about it. I wasn't expecting what I got. I couldn't put the book down. I would definitely recommend this book . I would definitely recommend this book and can't wait to read another book by Beatrix Eaton.
Very real descriptions. Great dialogue. Funny interactions, Great sex scenes, Great story !!! <3
Aright, this book isn't perfectly crafted, intricately-plotted, dense literature. Cinnamon Bay will never show up on Masterpiece Theatre. However, it is an engaging (potentially addictive), light read. I think it's simplistic, slightly adolescent style suits the story and adds to its charm. Plus, it is the first volume of a series, so some of the plot elements are there to set up the next book.
For a debut novel, this was stellar. Frankly, I would have never known this was this author's first novel ! This was emotional, the settings were amazing, the characters were real, I was completely vested from this moment I began, till this moment after reading straight through.(As I yawn continuously, excuse my typos!)
What a beautiful story! Highly recommend, I completely loved it!
The story was good, but all the way through, I kept wondering why Ben got full custody of the boys. That was never fully explained, and what happened to her visitation rights? Unless it was proven that she was an unfit mother, she should not have gone 9 months without seeing her kids. To me, that was very unrealistic.
Clichéd fantasy with lots of rippling muscles (on the good men). I read it because I had a lovely vacation on St John (Virgin Islands) which is where it is set and I liked the picture on the front. I'll be more careful with my reading choices in the future.
Great read start to finish! Love the authors writing style and the way she describes the surroundings! Can almost picture myself on the sandy beach with a mango mimosa in hand! Looking forward to her next book!
I really really enjoyed this book. It has the perfect amount of spicy which I like. I really loved this book had a good story line, didn’t drag for hundreds of pages. Sweet ending. and the sunshine made me happy. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. I hope they will be on the beach.
This is one of my favorite books ever!! It is so good and I couldn’t put it down, I would definitely recommend reading!! So well written, it had me hooked. This book felt like I was a part of Isa's story. PERFECT!
Juvenile in nature and writing style. What’s withered “ya”. It doesn’t fit with the character or anything else he says. If you’re going to give someone an accent, please make it consistent.
A must read - An amazing book! I read 200 pages on first day because I couldn’t put it down and finished in a few days! It is is well written with great plot twists. Highly recommend to everyone !
