There's only one rule in Rock & Roll: Don't sleep with anyone in the band.

Victory Payne is the hottest lead guitar player on the night club scene of Hollywood's infamous Sunset Strip. With nothing but her car and her guitar, she's ready to claw her way to success. Victory never gives up.

Then she breaks rock's cardinal rule. She falls in love with her lead singer, the gorgeous and brooding Scott Walker. That is mistake number one.

Mistake number two is a roadblock named Kellan Burns. Kellan is primed to claim the title of hottest lead guitar player in Los Angeles with his rugged good looks and his own guitar slung as low as his tight jeans. Kellan isn't the kind of guy to let some upstart babe with a six string stand in his way.

Victory Payne, meet Kellan Burns.

BOOM.

Ladies, you will need a fire extinguisher for this one.

Just finished Victory Run 1 -- brilliant!! It hooked me in front the start, victory is going to kick ass I believe, she is what draws you into the story with her amazing guitar talents and vulnerability but then along comes kellan and wow what a game changer cocky sure and hot sure to be trouble but fun trouble so you can forgive him. But then there is already Scott what an ass :-( just wanted to shake victory and tell her to tell him where to go, she is so out of his league he has no clue but I'm guessing he will. Awesome first book of the series - like I said hooked! I can't wait for the next I dare you to read a sample and not buy the rest! You will because it's so addictive. As always Devon Hartford brilliant xx

I'm a big fan of Devon's writing style, he has this unique knack of write hotness with a hint of humour from his characters.
His lead characters are always strong and confident, that's another big plus with this book as I hate weak females.
Victory is the lead guitarist in the up an up and coming band - skin trade. It's the night of their big break, they are playing The Cobra rooms it should be the best night of Victory's life but it turns out to be one of her worse - stabbed in the back by those she thought she could rely on. Although she does meet 'brown eyes' at the gig and feels an undeniable attraction to him. It's enough to set you on fire !

What I really loved about this book is the detail Devon goes into with the music and the guitar playing of Victory it's clearly something that he is knowledgable and passionate about and this adds creditable and depth to the story.

The chemistry between Kellan and Victory is off the scale, and I know they will expode soon !
Yes this is another novella series but the next part is only a week away and this part doesn't end on a cliffhanger but it does leave you begging for more of 'brown eyes'.

Devon has done it again. This book is brilliant and will have you pulled into the world of victory in no time.

Victory is a highly talented guitarist in the band slave skin with her boyfriend Scott lead singer and band members rex and bobby. Whilst playing the gig she is drawn to brown eyes ( kellan) the instant connection leaves victory confused but unable to shake the connection off she feels.
After the gig she is confronted by her band with some bad news which changes victory life.
By the end of run 1 you will find yourself loving victory strong attitude and determination, hating Scott.rex and bobby but very interested in where kellan will lead her.

Devon definitely knows his stuff in the rock world and I loved reading this story can't wait for run 2

Devon Hartford does it for me every time!

We've had a few months since his last release and have been left deprived of his creativity and much loved characters.

This book is like the Rock and Roll version of 24!

The newest addition in Devon's world is none other than, hardcore, foxy rock chick named Victory Payne.
What a girl, she's a melodic power house of a woman, with licks like Jimi Hendrix and leather number that makes the boys whimper in delight.
Whiteness the first day of our introduction of Victory Payne and the leading men in her life. Meet the eye watering Scott? and the Loin watering Kellan!!!!

I can not wait for the next instalment. Keep on keeping on Devon.

I love this book. It pulls you in from the start to finish, and throughout I couldn't put the book down. What I really love is the characters.... A rocking female guitar player! It's the small detail that Devon puts in to this book that makes a huge difference. It is apparent that he does his research and puts his heart in to his work. It's beautifully written, it's not OTT the balance of story, characters and emotion is spot on, to the point where the reader can get in to the characters mind set and feel the emotion of that situation. With cautious heroines and loveable confident hero what else could you want in a book! I can't wait for the next release!

I was gifted this copy to Beta read and I loved it! I'm a big fan of Devon's, I loved his last series and this did not disappoint!

It was not a long first book, finished it pretty quickly and now can't wait to read the next to find out what happens next!

Kellan is definitely going to be the next swoon worthy bbf!! Victory is a great character, I already like her and hope to see her luck pick up in the next book after the stuff she has had to deal with in this book!

Highly recommend this and can't wait for the second book!

It's been a while since since I read some hot rocker books and I wasn't disappointed in Victory Run 1. All I can say is WoW Devon Hartford, you kept me thoroughly entertained for a few hours ;) I absolutely loved this, it was quirky, sad and fun all in one crazy go. Really quite captivating.

Victory Payne is a female guitarist with a bad boy boyfriend who happens to be the lead singer of their band. Cocky arrogant sleaze, you know the type. I warmed to her immediately. On the outside she's a kick ass heroine, but her inner thoughts betray her and we get to see the real Victory who I'm expecting to have her own personal demons to contend with.

Kellan Burns comes along and instantly ignites a flame in Victory's stomach. His smouldering brown eyes and tattooed arms make the ladies hearts melt and their knickers drop. His boyish charm was adorable and his sense of humour won me over from the start. I really like the dual POV as we get inside the heads of this pair and see what they're thinking. I felt like I had an adrenaline rush when I was reading this or at least a 30 bar chocolate sugar high (hardcore me right?). I had such a grin on my face from cheek to cheek and can't wait for my next fix.

I couldn't guess where the storyline would take me and I like this a lot. It was fast paced and exciting, never a dull moment and I can't wait to pick up Victory Run 2 and 3 next week and delve deeper into the lives of Victory and Kellan. I'm hoping for some more angst. I think I'll get it. This was the introduction to the series and a brilliant introduction at that. We don't have to wait long and the next books are even longer.

✰✰ BOOM ✰✰

Mr. Hartford you did well

4.5 rocking stars

After getting a peek of Victory Payne at the end of reading Painless, I couldn't wait to see what was in store for Victory in her series.

Devon Hartford didn't disappoint. He continues to deliver great characters with fantastic personalities. Victory Payne is a badass guitarist who gets struck with a string of bad luck and has to figure out how to get back on her feet.

Kellan, a mysterious hottie with a ROCKIN bod catches her eye and they're instantly attracted to each other. He has to get to know this sexy guitarist and she tries to keep her distance for fear that a rebound is only going to make things worse for her.

They're banter is great. Kellan doesn't deny he's a ladies man and his cockiness shows, but he's truly interested in Victory's talent and just has to get to know her and talk shop.

The characters have great chemistry and Devon continues to deliver a story where not only the attraction is evident but delivers it with great comical expertise. There is an equal balance of serious and funny that gives a reader an entertaining read.

Well done!

Here is the first from the Story of Victory Payne series ,,, and I'm hooked and just left wanting more

Although this one isn't very long there is enough of what you want and need to keep you interested ,,, turning pages ,,, and wanting more

So we have Victory ,,, she is the guitarist in a band called Skin Trade ,,, she is hot and focused and very talented ,,, she is dating the front man of the band too

Then we also have Kellan ,,, he is a hot guy just looking to go to a gig to listen to the band everyone is talking about ,,, maybe even score a place on the band ,,,, what he didn't expect was Victory ,,, everything he wanted in a woman ,,, and all so much more

Victory kicks ass on the guitar and she is so focused but something catches her eye ,,, and that something is slightly distracting ,,, she is dealt a really bad hand that night ,,, with someone helping unexpectedly

Could this day get any worse for Victory? Where will she go now? And what will she do?

Victory Payne is the lead guitar player in the band Skin Trade and she learned that lesson well the night of the biggest gig of her life.

Kellan Burns is a lead guitar player looking for the next big band when he meets Victory.

Instant attraction. I like it. I love how the author mentioned some great guitar legends. With this book you get a good look into the characters, This book is well written and descriptive. And hits on several different emotions. It made me want to drop everything to get to book two!!

This book has everything you need or want in a Rocker Romance. I would highly recommend this book.

I tell you what this man never disappoints.
Victory: Run 1 is about a young lady with excellent electric guitar skills. No actually I'd say from reading this book outstandingly gifted.

Occurrences leave Victory destitute after being ousted and treated very badly by her boyfriend.

She meets Brown eyes at one her concerts, is there a future for them. Don't know wait and see in typical Devon fashion for book 2.

She lives in her car, where does she go what does Victory do?

Again wait for book 2.

Can't wait Devon!!!

Just finished this very fun book. Pulled me right in, and that's sometimes hard to do. I felt like the author did his homework (above and beyond), and I was right there with the band. Victory (the guitar player in a band) is a little clueless but a strong willed and determined person. Kellan.......sexy but so full of himself. I can't wait to see where the journey is going to lead. Funny, sassy, and a good read.

This series is based on the rock and roll scene with a girl named Victory. She has been part of the band, Slave Skin, since it first started out. Whilst gigging, she stumbles across golden boy Kellan Burns and finds herself attracted to him. When boyfriend and lead singer, Scott Walker, and the band mates sign a record contract that doesn't involve Victory, things go down hill fast. After the gig, she finds herself out of the band without a home and living in her car with nothing but her guitar and amp. to keep her company.

Victory runs into the handsome Kellan Burns, who also plays guitar, and they have a instant connection. Kellan knows Victory has been sleeping in her car and offers her the couch but the attraction between them keeps Victory from easy sleep.  They jam together, and between the two, they have ideas of where their future could lead.

Victory is desperately trying to get her life back in order; she has a part time job working in a guitar shop and finds herself living with her boss and wife whilst she gets herself back on her feet again. When Julian walks through the door and asks Victory to demonstrate a $30,000 guitar for him, he knows she is the best guitarist and asks her to work with him on soundtracks for commercials that would earn her big money.

With all these hot men trying to pursue Victory, her only concern is trying to get a band together and ready for the "Gunslingers" competition. Whilst working alongside Kellan at the rock and roll high school, Victory finds herself drawn to him. When he forms a band and the new guitarist is the gorgeous Switchblade, Victory finds herself somewhat jealous.

The ending to this series takes a dramatic turn and things end a fantastic way.

Devon has written a hot rock and roll series that well deserves the full 5*s.  This series is in three parts, but they are all ready to download so theres no waiting around at all.

If your into rockers, and hot ones at that, this series is for you !!!!

If you love rockers and music, this series is for you! Yes, it evolves from a foundation of a love story, but this series is so much more.

Our main character Victory Payne's journey to achieving her goal, playing her guitar and belonging to a successful band, is depicted here in all its rawness, intimacy, and gut-wrenching reality. It is an eye-opener to the journey a musician must endure and persist in with a dedication that absorbs all their energy and will-power as they are tested time and time again.

Left homeless, without a band, and dumped by her boyfriend/band leader, Victory is left to survive based on her wits, friends, and the kindness of strangers. It is her unmovable determination to survive that compels her. Everyone she meets cannot but realize her single purpose to survive makes her unique. Her focus remains on her goal, even though she is human and in need of love and compassion. Kellan Burns comes into her life just as she hits rock bottom. What starts as fan based attraction, develops into a friendship and collaboration that will touch your hearts.

Pursuing a dream is never easy. It is the struggle that makes it worthwhile. These are words we hear all the time. Our author Devon Hartford uses his gift for lyrical prose to help immerse us in this struggle, as silent spectators witnessing this story.

The topic "from rags to riches" rocker stories are a dime a dozen. Few stories make an impact where your soul is involved in the plot line and you feel emotionally invested. I think I have found one of those few and do not hesitate to recommend this series to those of you who are looking a love story that goes beyond hot romantic scenes.

"My whole life I searched for you, my need like a disease. I can't live without your love; you bring me to my knees" - My Whole Life lyrics sung by Kellan Burns

REVIEW
Rock Band – Skin Trade consists of Bobby on Drums, Rex on Bass, Scott on Vocals and Victory is on Electric Guitar .

Victory Payne guitarist in a Rock & Roll band called Skin Trade. She is girlfriend to the Lead Singer Scott who is one cocky SOB. They have finally got their chance to play at the Cobra Lounge and knowing many execs are here its important. Scott is one crappy boyfriend and in my opinion Victory needs to kick him to the curb…

Kellan
Visits the Cobra Lounge often and tonight he is wanting to see Skin Trade.
Kellan is very cocky and has a way with the women. He is adored by all women. But he has now
Set his eyes on the one woman who may not fall for his sex appeal. Victory Payne.

Not sure where this story is going as it left me hanging but I along with you all who grab it
Will find out in the next book I hope.

The book is well written and the story flows which are big plus’s for me. However something is missing and I hope I find it in the next book .. ROCK ON !!!!!!!

This book is true to Devon Hartfords style of writing. I enjoyed his first series and I know I will enjoy this one .. Highly Recommend !!

Victory is a sexy, hot and sassy, no-holds barred, rocker chick!
*****5 Stars*****
When asked by a fellow blogger if I had read anything by Devon, my answer was a simple, 'no.' So when she asked if I wanted to read a hot rocker chick series, it honestly peeked my interest, so of course I said, "YES!" And it was one of the best YES!'s I have ever said... The author has a clean and real way of putting you in the moment with this book. From the descriptions of the thoughts of the characters to the venues where events take place. Its written in such a real way, you feel like your watching the action live as the story unfolds and the pages fly by. And what a ride...there are highs and lows, angst and lust, betrayal and despaire, and pure rock-n-roll! Victory is a sexy, hot and sassy, no-holds barred, rocker chick! And I will be the first to admit, yeah, I have a total girl crush on her! ;) She is one of the strongest chicks I have ever read, she is tough and still manages to keep it together when things get crazy. OH, and she is also the most kick butt guitar shredder! (although sometimes she has the worst luck.) As the pages race by from the fluidness of the writing, you can't help but keep wanting more and more. I am eagerly ready to dive into book two and can't wait to see what direction Victory's story goes! Will definately keep an eye out for more from this incredible author! oh yeah, and from his you-tube video I have seen, Devon can ROCK!!

This is the story of Victory Payne, a very talented Guitarist who plays lead in the band Skin Trade. Scott, her boyfriend of two years and lead singer of the band is just a complete jerk and with all that goes down you can’t help but hope he fails miserably. (I don’t want to give a spoiler). In walks the hot Kellan, hes arrogant, but hot, thinks with his little head, but again, hot and makes Victory laugh. This book didn’t reel me in like I had hoped it would. I love rockers, rocker chicks and rock and roll. I had high hopes but it just didn’t grab me like I had expected it too. I understand it was supposed to set me up for book two, set up the storyline but there really just wasn’t enough interaction of the good kind between Kellan and Victory, not to mention enough story about the band and Victory crotch punching her huge moron boyfriend. The emotion just wasn’t there for me because the book moved so quickly. I know it is supposed to be short, as it’s a novella series but I wasn’t picking up on the emotion. I do however think the book was well written and the grammar and spelling are impeccable. I do think the story has a chance to catch me still as it progresses and that should happen in book 2 so I am absolutely going to continue.
I didn’t hate it and I didn’t think it was awful, I just felt like I needed more to reel me in.
I think this story isn’t meant to play out in novella’s and I really think a full length novel can give it the “air/pen” time it probably deserves.

I have to begin by saying that I'm a huge fan of Devon's writing style, I first discovered him before starting off blogging with his "The Story Of Samantha Smith" Series, this series was so whitty and comical and constantly keeps me engaged. Victory Run is no different, it has laugh out loud funny moments ,"You're always trying to fuck my leg like a dog" he chuckles. Bobby makes a hound dog sound "Aaah-roo!!!", that keeps you constantly on your toes.

This is book one in the series so is mainly about engaging with the characters and setting up the story for the other books. This doesn’t come across as boring or lacking story line, Devon has done a fantastic job at keeping the reader engaged through the characters interactions, and having just enough drama to set up the story.

The chemistry between the characters is palpable whether its the way the band bounce of each other when they are having banter or the chemistry between Victory and Kellan with out them even meeting each other. I love Victory already, she has something about her that makes you relate to her and want her to give scott a big kick up the arse. Devon is very talented in the way he draws you in to the characters and there life.

I received a copy of this story to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review. Victory Payne plays guitar for the rock band Skin Trade, a new up and coming band working the clubs to catch a record labels attention. With Scott, lead singer and her boyfriend, Rex and Bobby. They are playing The Cobra Lounge tonight and there are suppose to be a few record label people there. The show is going well until Scott sings over Victory's solo and he does it more than once. She can't figure out what is happening. She noticed a handsome man in the crowd with the sinful brown eyes and he is flirty with her. When the show is over Scott goes into the green room and leaves the rest of the band outside in the hall. After a few minutes Scott lets Rex and Bobby in the room and locks Victory out. She is so mad and can't figure out what is going on. Are they doing drugs? How will this little meeting affect her? Why is she pulled to "Brown Eyes" or better known as Kellan Burns? This is a first for me from Devon Hartford and I really enjoyed it. Can't wait for part 2.

Amazing start to the story! Devon Hartford really knows how to set the stage! Kellen and Victory heat things up in this short and jaw dropping performance that leaves us all hanging and scraping for more at the end.

I really enjoyed how Devon makes you feel as if you are right up on stage with Victory during her act, as how you can almost feel the lights and the crowd. I loved Kellen's cocky and boyish attitude and of course his Hottness!

I liked that Victory was this rocker chick that could play like no one else but it didn't make her self-centred or stupid. she had a edginess and a sass about her that I really liked. Kellen I am thinking has a lot of depth to him that he hides behind his playboy exterior, life has been way to easy for him thus far in the girls department and someone like Victory is just what he needs to shake up his life.

I hate that it ended so abruptly and I soooo can't wait to read more!!!!

don't wait to get your copy today!

Another firm favourite from Devon Hartford! This dude just put the right amount of everything we need into his books!

Sexy male ~CHECK
Sexy as sin girl ~ CHECK
Bloke who's a MAJOR ASS ~ DOUBLE CHECK
OH and last but not least! Angst and Drama ~ HELL'S YEAH CHECK!

Victory Payne is an all out rocker chick! Is a band with her mates for the past two years, everything is going good.... Well...kinda...sorta..... She's all kinds of broke. Living on noodles isn't just for college kids, but its worth it right? She's living her dream rocking out with her band waiting. Because any day now there gonna hit it big. There already big around where they play and there loved. So its only a matter of time before the rest of the world catches up on who they are.

Well, so Victory taught anyways... Her band of FAMILY as she taught they where aren't as loyal as she taught. And if I could I would Castrate the lot of them!

I won't say much more other then this, One should always follow the cardinal rule....... NEVER and I repeat EVER sleep with a band mate. It will always come back to bite you in the ass......

I'm so happy I've got the next book. So this was released in a different way. It is like a cliffhanger that will hurt badly until you realize that book 2 is out. Victory Payne is a guitar hero in a gorgeous female form. Victory has a few jagged edges that I liked. She is nothing like other rock stars in other books. So if you want a fresh and unique look at this life then grab it. I thought the story, plot and characters were hot and fresh. Victory was done wrong and she is strong enough to survive. is the hottest lead guitar player on the night club scene of Hollywood’s infamous Sunset Strip. With nothing but her car and her guitar, she’s ready to claw her way to success. Victory never gives up. Scott was a turd and Im sad he broke her little heart but better things are ahead for Victory, I cant say what but yes it is a good helping of drama and angst!

Victory Payne, meet Kellan Burns.
BOOM I wish I knew the music in this book but I clearly listen to far too much rap. I did google several of the videos though and was surprised it was a little more main stream than I thought.

I really enjoyed reading Victory Run 1. It did take a while for the story to progress but once it did, it's was fantastic!

Kellan is a really great character but what an arrogant guy he can be! Kellan and Victory's chemistry is electric from the first time they meet and the sexual tension is HOT! I really intrigued to see what happens between these two in Victory Run 2. Kellan is such a player so i can only see heartbreak for Victory. Maybe i will be wrong? I can't believe how easily her band, Skin Trade turned on her and kicked her out. Scott, the lead singer and her boyfriend seems like such a jerk, i'm hoping Victory shows them what she's got and proves to them she doesn't need them.

I never read and rock and roll story quite like this but it grabbed my interest from the beginning. Like i said before, it took a while for the story to progress and especially for Kellan and Victory to meet or maybe i was enjoying it too much i didn't want it to end! It did seem too short and i was just beginning to settle in to the story. Bring on Victory Run 2!!

There’s only one rule in Rock & Roll:
DON'T SLEEP WITH ANYONE IN THE BAND.
Period.

Victory and her band Skin Trade are playing at the famous Cobra Lounge. She is dating the lead singer, Scott, has great chemistry with her bandmates, and she can shred with the best of the best. Then things take a bad turn and spiral to worse from there.

Kellan is one cocky son of a bitch. He is hot and he knows it. Girls fall at his feet and he loves the game. He goes to the Cobra Lounge to watch the Skin Trade concert, wanting to watch who people are describing as the “Best Shredder” in the industry. What he doesn’t know is that that shredder is Victory.

While I do not play guitar or really care much about rockers or their shredding abilities, I can appreciate the way the characters suck you into their world and their unfolding drama. Lust, betrayed friendships, and more drama than a reality TV show, makes this book a must read!

Part 1 of this series is short, but I understand why Devon chose to end where he did.

This was a fast paced story about Victory and her band Skin Trade. With her two close friends and boyfriend of two years making up the band, Victory has it all. Her band is performing at a high named club and she is hyped up. While on stage she catches the eye of the very hot and sexy, Kellan.

They interact throughout her performance but her lead singer boyfriend Scott is none too happy. Scott did a few arse moves to Victory on the stage and I wanted to slap that boy silly. I did laugh at the way that Kellan made Victory laugh. I thought was funny and sweet in a way, even if he was thinking with his smaller head ;)

Now comes the part where you just pray that during this series that Skin Trade will fail epically. To quote Scum bag Scott "We are not kicking you out if the band, I'm quitting and taking the band name and the songs", wow high five to the face with a metal chair!

Looking forward to reading Victory Run 2

He goes to the Cobra Lounge to watch the Skin Trade concert, wanting to watch who people are describing as the “Best Shredder” in the industry. What he doesn’t know is that that shredder is Victory.

While I do not play guitar or really care much about rockers or their shredding abilities, I can appreciate the way the characters suck you into their world and their unfolding drama. Lust, betrayed friendships, and more drama than a reality TV show, makes this book a must read!

Part 1 of this series is short, but I understand why Devon chose to end where he did. ~ Devlynn, 4.5 stars

First of all, I came across Devon through BookBub, with the Samantha Smith series. When Victory Run came out, I bought it and read it straight through. I think I was a little shocked by the fact that a man wrote this, he knows exactly what women want to read and how to keep them coming back for more. In this first book of the series we are introduced to several characters, some good, some bad and some just stuck. Victory is a very strong but vulnerable young lady. We start the night of with some serious rocking out to hot band with a female guitar player, she totally rocks. Before the night is over, Victory is being admired by a man in the audience, she is left out of a very important band decision and left out in the cold. So if you want to know more, go 1 click Victory Run, believe me you will be going back to Amazon and purchasing the next two books. Thank you, Devon for knowing what us women want and need.
