Follow Cleo as she transforms into the glamorous Justine and falls into a life of unimaginable wealth when Didier the owner of a hotel empire is beguiled by her mysterious and naïve charms. Her life becomes one of luxury and fame beyond anything she could have ever imagined. Remnants of her past continue to haunt her and a new threat appears; is her latest peril related to her past or someone else’s, someone who has become a large part of her new life.
Elle Klass is an award winning author. She currently lives in Florida with her family. To date she has written and published over sixteen books, in varying genre's including mystery, suspense, psychological thrillers, fantasy, sci-fi and contemporary fiction. When she's not writing she's spending time with family or friends, traveling, relaxing at home watching ghost and horror movies or listening to an audio book.
The story of Cleo continues. In this next part, she changes identities again and takes on a new identity of Justine Holmes a far more sophisticated and wealthy person than Cleo was. It begins to appear that our Baby Girl will finally find happiness, but there are more mystery and twists to come. Someone wants her dead and has been trying to kill her. This is a suspense-filled story, and now I have to read book three to find out what happens next. It's a great read.
Elle Klass doesn’t waste any time creating challenges for her characters, and surrounding her readers with suspense. After confronting her main character, Cleo, with survival on the streets as a 12 year-old in Baby Girl 1, Klass turns the heat up in Baby Girl 2. Cleo, now a fully blossoming adult woman, is faced with mounting trauma and tragedy, plus some unknowns from her past she didn’t count on.
Luckily, out of hardships on the streets, she formed some rare friendships that will get tested for their lasting quality. As unknown threats close in, she is forced from the protective shadows of street life to find safety in another country, France. More unknowns for Cleo to cope with, calling upon her innovative skills in re-making her image. She is no longer Cleo, but now Justine Holmes.
New name, new stunning look, but still dogged by the shadows of her past even though a new happenstance meeting was about to thrust her into the full light of day. Into a world of fame and fortune, taking her to social heights she could have never imagined, bringing her to the blissful threshold of romance and love, until the shadows of the unknown gather once again into threatening storm clouds.
Now forced to run again, fearful of her past and also her growing unease at her own identity, Justine Holmes is riding in a taxi through the dark of night, heading for the airport, ticketed on a flight to the City by the Bay. A destination that’s bound to hold more unknown suspense for a woman on the run.
Author Elle Klass has succeeded in taking an obscure character from the lower layers of the socioeconomic fabric of society, and spinning an exciting story of adventure. And the adventure promises to continue with Baby Girl 3 - City by the Bay.
Five stars for Elle Klass and Baby Girl 2 - Moonlighting in Paris!
Baby Girl Book 2 - Moonlighting in Paris is the second book in this short book series. Just 37 pages long it follows the next chapter in the life of a young run-away. I do think you need to read book one first then you will understand why Chloe has changed her identity to be Justine and why anyone would want to take a flight from New York to Paris via Moscow.
To read this as a stand alone book we aren't told much about Justine. In the first book she began as a twelve year old and the book could be read by the YA audience. Justine has now grown older but I'm unsure of her age and the writing in this book is for a much older audience. Both books are ok for adults but they may miss on other potential audiences.
For me Justine's leap from life on the run with Einstein to life with Didier was too easy a step with luxury and opportunities which were the opposite of her life in book one. With the story being short we are fed tit-bits about the search for her past and we are introduced to a possible stalker, who may or may not be a threat to Justine's life.
This review addresses the first three books in the Baby Girl series, which to this point includes Book 1, In the Beginning - Book 2, Moonlighting in Paris - Book 3, City by the Bay.
The story surrounds the trials and adventures of a girl, seemingly born into poverty to a drug addicted mother. Finding herself completely alone, and unaware of her mother’s death, the girl heads out into the world on her own. The story moves along through her subsisting on dumpster trash and living under a bridge to a life of luxury in Paris and beyond. In the interim, the protagonist creates life long friendships, lives life on the run, falls in love, experiences great highs and lows, successes and devastating loss … as she delves into her past.
There are some incredibly fortuitous coincidences that will force the reader to stretch the imagination, but hey … this is fiction, not real life. Ergo … fun. I don’t believe you’ll be able to simply read Book 1. You’ll find yourself sucked in and rooting for the character. Enjoyed!
After book one of Baby Girl it took me some time to start book two as what happened to Einstein. But once I started reading book two I go to watch as Cloe turned into Justine and a whole new character but with the same past and secretes who now living a new life. I enjoyed book two even though it was quite different then book one. This story taught about moving on but lever letting go of the path of the past. Justine (Cloe) has now found a new life and love after losing her love from her past. The writing of book two was easy to read and followed nice. I found that, once again, the story ended faster then I wanted it to. With the secrets that slowly unraveled I can’t wait to finish book three and learn more about who this girl was and her past of twist and turns. This is a great story for readers who like fast pace and untold secrets!
This episode finds Cleo, now known as Justine, fleeing from the aftermath of the events in Book 1 to Paris where she experiences a life of glamor and luxury diametrically opposed to how she grew up. As she enters this new world she not only experiences a major transformation in her personal identity but also discovers information about her background. Rather than providing answers, she now has a host of new questions which add a new level of mystery and intrigue to who she really is along with the possibility of enemies she didn’t realize she had. The pace and suspense has picked up, making it even easier to finish this story in one sitting while looking forward to the next book. These stories are the perfect companion for a day on the beach where you want to enjoy an interesting and exciting story yet finish it that day.

Having changed her identify in book one, Cleo is now known as Justine. She changes her looks to suit her name and her new life in Paris. When Justine walks in a hotel to book her accommodation, she meets Didier, the manager and owner of the hotel.
Didier takes an instant liking to her and she finds her lifestyle changing from one extreme to the other and she adapts fairly quickly to the change. This is a short part of the story too but it's very comprehensive. It contains danger, mystery, threats, love and surprises. I am keen to find out what's in store for Justine, especially in view of the way this part of the story ended. It is advisable to read book one, "The Beginning" before reading this part. This book is more suitable for Young Adults of 16+
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Following on from "Baby Girl Book 1: In the Beginning", "Baby Girl Book 2: Moonlighting in Paris" is another episode of pure escapism.
Short enough to read in one sitting, Elle Klass is delivering on all the promises made in book 1. The standard of the storyline is just as high, and the writing is like welcoming an old friend.
The feeling of watching a TV episode remains, as does the mix of reality and the highly unlikely (as I said in my review of book 1, this gives a great depth to the story as a whole).
I'm very happy to say I have "Baby Girl Book 3: City by the Bay" lined up and ready to read!
This book carries on where book 1 ended. Cleo has changed her name and appearance after arriving in Paris. Now calling herself Justine she tries to improve her life whilst still being concerned about what happened to her mother when she was younger.
Elle Klass continues to delve into a range of emotions with skill. The transformation of Cleo/Justine from street kid to young woman on the run is shown through her thoughts and actions as the story develops. There are the added complexities of new relationships and being unsure of who to trust. Reactions to new situations are carefully linked back to Cleo/Justine’s earlier years.
If you have read baby girl book 1, then you know Cleo, if you haven't that will be okay too. Justine (Cleo) Holmes has arrived in Paris to restart her laugh after a tragedy has happened. She meets Didier and her life takes a definite turn for the better. As with all good stories though this life is going to be interrupted. Justine's past is haunting her and she has no idea why because her past it seems was a lie. This book hooks the reader and drags them in as you read book by book, Great job Elle can't wait for the next.
Our main char has changed her name to Justine Holmes. After an accident that took her love, Einstein, from her she ran away to Paris. She reinvents herself and gives herself a whole new background and even personality. I am just loving his series. We find out more about whom not only Einstein is, but begin learning more about Justine herself. My heart broke for her in this story. I can't wait to see where Klass takes us next in Book 3
Yes, yes yes I love it, I am so captivated by the story and the main character. And in this book of course i really enjoy the scens in Paris and all the luxury :) That's the good thing when u are creative and have a good imagination, well at least that is what happens to me when read or write books, I am there, I can see it literally :)
This second book gives some answers to Baby girl's story but it leaves so many more questions. Her mystery will leave you hanging on for answers, closure, and some happiness for a tortured soul.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Great book! #2 in the series and it keeps getting better and better! Starting #3 today and I'm super excited. This is a must read series!
Elle Klass is a new author for me and OMG her writing is amazing!!!
Baby Girl - In The Beginning is the first book in the Baby Girl Book series. You really need to read it before reading Moonlighting in Paris - Baby Girl Book 2. Book 2 starts by giving you a small glimps of what happened in book 1. In book 2 Cleo decides that she needs to go somewhere far from where she is now. Mainly because she doesn't know if who ever killed Einstein is going to come after her again. She gets a fake passport and ID and heads to Paris. And it just keeps getting better and better - but don't worry, you are going to have to read the book to find out exactly what does happen.
I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series!!!
3.5 stars – but too mature and a little creepy for a YA audience.
You really need to read Book 1 to really understand Justine aka Chloe. Drama and intrigue follow her to Paris. Where her life turns around a little too conveniently when she meets a hotel owner, Didier.
I feel like the book lost some of its YA feel in this one and some of the scenes are a little jarring. I had a hard time keeping up with how old she was which took away from the story for me during some of the more mature scenes. That part creeped me out a little bit.
The book does take some interesting turns and I’m intrigued enough to read Book 3. I just feel that it is turning into an adult series at this point.
I voluntarily reviewed this book after requesting it from the publisher.
I received this Free copy in return for an Honest Review. The heart break of Cleo's story is breaking my heart. This is going to be a page turning for sure.... I'm sooo happy that Elle Klass has this as a Series, because I'm Going to Love It!! Can't wait to read them ALL!! Thank ya :-)
Baby Girl Book 2: Moonlighting in Paris by Elle Klass
2.5 stars
Justine, aka Cleo, has pulled herself off the streets and into a new life of traveling abroad, falling in love with a rich hotelier, and bathing suit modeling, all while searching for clues for either her alleged mother’s death, or a former boyfriend’s death. The plotline was very weak and undeveloped, as the character bounced among all five of the former undertakings on a whim. It was very difficult to understand the actual point of the story.
Admittedly, I didn’t have the chance to read Book 1, as only Book 2 was submitted for review. I went into it knowing I would be a little lost on the background of the series. However, I believe an author should take that into account and be able to weave key pieces of information from the prior books more seamlessly into the story to get everyone up to speed.
The book itself is very short, and reads more like a segment of a larger novel. There is absolutely no character development. I can’t recall one descriptive characteristic of Justine. Or Didier. Nor can I recall how, why, or when Justine falls in love with Didier. Overall, I believe Klass would have succeeded more in combining all parts of the series into one intriguing, suspenseful novel of a sordid past and a sexy future. This book missed the mark for me.
“Baby Girl Book 2: Moonlighting in Paris” by Elle Klass follows Cleo to Paris, France where she changes her name to Justine Holmes after Einstein died saving her life. She left America and the death of her true love, Einstein, to start over in Europe. She soon met Didier, a rich hotel owner, who fell in love with her. Her life of trashcan picking and stealing was a thing of the past. Before long, she learned that she may have been the target of the driver who killed Einstein. Will she find out why and whether the woman who took care of her was really her mother? Although the narration spent more time telling than showing the action, the story held my interest to the end. I am curious what happens to her in the next book in the series.
Moonlighting in Paris by Elle Klass is the second in the Baby Girl series. In this short book, Cleo takes on the identity of Justine Holmes and escapes to Paris. There a wealthy hotelier, Didier, falls in love with her. During their courtship, Justine realizes that she is being hunted by Einstein's killer. Afraid of being revealed as a fraud, or worse, causing Didier's death, she jilts him at the altar to take on a new identity. What will happen to her next?
To me, it seems as if Ms. Klass rushed to write this segment of the Baby Girl Series. The plot has holes and too convenient occurrences, the characters are underdeveloped, and the whole book needs editing. In spite of these drawbacks, I enjoyed the storyline and am curious to see what happens next to Cleo.
This was the second book in the Baby Girl Series, it was amazing follow up to the first book. We get to follow Justine on her journey to Paris, she finds love with a handsome young man. It's a sweet story, with heartbreak in the end when she runs away from her wedding to her fiancé because she still fears being caught for the crimes she committed while she was younger. I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.
This is book 2 in the Baby Girl series. We follow Justine on her adventures in France. We watch her as she as grows and comes into her own as a young woman. We also find more questions than answers. Through it all she keeps her head and her heart stays true. Looking forward to more adventures and answered questions. I have received this book free in exchange for an honest review.
At this point in Cleo's life I'm attached to her and admire her beyond-her-years wisdom. A tough life on the streets she soaks up a life of luxury in Paris. She deserves a small break in life, if only for a couple years.
I received this in return for an honest review. I am swooning over this series! The depth of feeling in Cleo' s heart is just so wonderful. I am pleased to also see there many more books to this series! Can't wait to read them all. Thank you.
Easy entertaining read. I enjoyed the growth of the main character and her detective skills. She is a strong girl and the series is great. I have received this book free in exchange for an honest review.
