It's a terrible thing to find and lose a child in the same breath.

Twenty years ago, O'Neill left the Pinch Point Kalikoia reservation as jie'van—outcast—after the woman he loved betrayed him and no one believed his powerful spirit gift was real. He disappeared into the shadowy world of special ops, becoming one of the most lethal warriors the world has ever known.

Now the apocalypse is coming, and O'Neill has been called back to Shadow Mountain as part of an elite Kalikoia war command. But he's still an outsider, still shunned—until the day everything changes.

When the woman who broke his heart arrives to collect her son's body after a failed mission, he learns a devastating the nineteen-year-old dead warrior was his son. The son he never knew existed. And there's more—the boy had a twin sister. O'Neill has a living daughter who carries a spirit guide as powerful as his own.

But her spirit gift is a warrior’s totem. And his daughter has never held a weapon.

Thrust into the role of trainer and protector, O'Neill must teach his daughter to survive when the spirit world is fracturing, enemies are closing in, and humanity's extinction looms. But his greatest challenge isn't the coming war—it's learning to trust again.

His daughter needs more than warrior skills to survive what's coming. She needs a father. And that means the man who's perfected pushing people away must find a way to let her in before it's too late.

With time running out and everything at stake, O'Neill faces an impossible the isolation that's kept him alive, or the family bond that might be humanity's only hope.

A pulse-pounding blend of military romantic suspense, supernatural warfare, and second chances, set within a looming science driven apocalypse..

I was gripped by this story. I love how Trish blends my first love in reading- military suspense- with supernatural aspects which I also love. The world she is building is vast. I will admit, I probably should have done a refresher on book 1 before diving in, but even so I had no trouble. Luckily, events will trigger my memory of past events in the series. O'Neill was definitely a character I was intrigued by and I enjoyed getting to know him better, even though I was saddened by his heartbreaking past and now present emotional roller coaster jolted by discovering he'd had a son who died in battle. I am looking forward to witnessing O'Neill and Muriel's second chance at love and the building relationship between him and his daughter in future books. The apocalyptic war coming will no doubt be full of danger, action, and suspense. This book was a great setup to the fast-paced battles coming, setting the stage with all the nuances and mysteries surrounding the creepiness developing.

Buckle up for an intricate mix of worlds. Military, Suspense, Apocalypse, Supernatural, light on romance. We go from Shadow Mountain to the greedy nano maker. We have twist, turns, surprises. O'Neill the outsider finds out he has/had a son. There is so much more going on, and I admit I am frustrated because I want to know now who Screaming Mother is, I want to know now who the apocalypse can be converted, especially with all that took place in this book. There is a lot of science that can boggle the mind, but there is emotion and family. Speaking of family, I would love to smack Gracie This is not a light romantic suspense, so make sure you have read book 1 (Shadow Blind)! Thank you for the advanced copy. I freely share my honest thoughts and opinions. #ShadowBoxed #ShadwWarrioirs #TrishMcCallan #Booksprout

Good book

Honestly, I enjoyed this series but I struggled with it as well. Due to all her made up native American language I had to read book 1 over again with a photo of the language break down. Then I would go back to my photos every time I didn't understand which can be confusing and time consuming. The story flows but since book three doesn't come out till 2026 ill probably have to reread the series to refresh my memory. There's plenty of action and this is well written. It doesn't get boring but it does feel like it takes a long time to get to the point which it is still doing going into book 3. I would recommend not reading any of it till all the books are out and you can read them all. Its a really good series but takes awhile to take it all in.🤷

This is book 2 in the Shadow Warriors series. It seamlessly continues the story and the warriors out of Shadow Mountain. There is a lot going on in this book. We find out more about the Nano’s and continue to try to understand what the old ones are trying to orchestrate. This story centers around O’Neill and Muriel more on the human interactive side. We learn about their past and what part he played with the twins. I can’t wait to read book three to find out what some of the things in this book will lead too.

These stories have all the feels. We go from supernatural military to romance to end of the world. This series is not light reading but it is worth the read. Ms. McCallan has created an exciting and innovating world you will love.

Fantastic story arc!

I'm so thrilled to have found this author. TRISH MCCALLAN
From her very first book, Forged in Fire, she captured my attention with her writing talent. Her stories are suspenseful well written, with a twist. (Don't want to spoil it for you)
I have read everything she has written. This Shadow Warriors series is captivating. I can't wait til the next book in this series.
She is just as talented as Kris Michaels, Bella Stone, Riley Edwards, Brittney Sahin, and Ellie Masters.( just to name a few). A must-read!

Book 2 picks up seamlessly from Book 1, continuing the complex, enigmatic storyline that still leaves you flabbergasted. With countless threads intricately woven together, this one demands your full attention. The scientific detail & layered language can feel overwhelming at times, but the intrigue never lets go. Emotional turmoil & relentless hurdles frustrate & captivate in equal measure, keeping you hooked & eager for answers.

Trish used to be one of my favourite authors in the romantic suspense world but somehow she has managed to loose the romance and I am finding the books are dragging a little I feel she needs to go back to her roots

There is a good connection between the warriors but there is nothing between O'Neil and his ex or Wolf and Jillian it sort of just limped along unlike the earlier books that took off and kept me engaged

Wow, what an ending for book 2!

Now that’s a cliff hanger! I can’t wait to see where goes to in book 3. The Wolf, Aiden, O’Neill trio is fantastic, the tension, plot, and in the new twists can’t put it down. I would not change a thing, Author kept true to characters and story line and made it more believable and intense. Thank you!

It took me awhile to get into this book even though I read book 1. I felt overwhelmed at times with all the scientific things but, once the book got going, I really liked it. Theres' plenty of action, suspense, and danger leading up to book3

These books are not stand alone, you must read the 1st to know what is going on. This 2nd book takes off where the last one ended with the nanobots, with the exception of the main character is O'Neill and his story in this one. He has a lot of surprises bad as well as good. This is 5 stars.
