About the author

Living in a small village in Lancashire, England, the author has written a number of books based on the tale 'Peter'.

In the 1990s, the author had twenty-one articles published, both nationally and internationally. After gaining an honours degree in Geosciences, doing post-graduate study in Occupational Health and Fitness, and earning a masters degree in Science Communication, he developed an interest for simple communication.

A passion for writing again emerged, and combining various interests in fine art, museum exhibition display, biology, geology, poetry, and the mystical led to the story of Peter: A Darkened Fairytale. The author still retains a childlike vision of the world, which is conveyed throughout his books.

In..."PETER Crank's Time ~ Short Poems & Tiny Thoughts", the tales of Peter continue through the artistic use of poetry as he makes his way in this magical land which is based on the author's first book, "Peter: A Darkened Fairytale".

When I was a young child, I was exposed to the fairy tales penned by Brothers Grimm. Whenever I read the musings of Author William O'Brien, these previous fairytales and folklore come to mind. Although the styles and tales are different, there is a familiar thread of creative writing talent to be discovered in this Boxed Collection. It stretches the imagination of its reading audience and will appeal to all ages...both young and old alike. The covers to each of these books are incredible!

This is the third collection of short poetry set within the world created by the author in 'Peter: A Darkened Fairytale'. This is probably my favourite of the three collections of short poetry. The dark tone is present throughout, though it is at times outshone by wonderment. The creatures mentioned are more fantastical than ever, resulting in what I feel is the most imaginative of the three collections. A brilliant collection. Very highly recommended!

At a time when time is as precious and just as rare as ambergris, William O'Brien has brought out a delightful anthology of 29 short poems with a surreal flavour based on A Darkened Fairytale. For fans "Peter: Crank's Time - Short Poems and Tiny Thoughts" is the perfect bridge to new work and will, I am sure, bring new aficionados into the growing fold.

I'm not a big fan of poetry, but I loved William O'Brien's "Peter: A Darkened Fairytale" and wanted to read more of his work. And these poems are wonderful! Whimsical, unique, and remind me of Alice in Wonderland a little. Loved the drifting smoonmellows, colliding souls, and unicorns whispering secrets. Five stars!

Here is a collection of short, enchanting poems from the pen of the poet, William O’Brien. Peter - Crank's Time (Peter: A Darkened Faiytale)sweeps us into a darkened, mystical world. There is a direct relationship between author and reader, as his voice comes directly at you:

Waters bubble
Talk and spew
Let them bring
Me to you

Here is one of my favorites, perhaps because it is spooky:

Spirits lend
Helping hand
Cobwebs touch
In cold lands

Feel them brush
Upon your face
Silken gossamer
Haunting trace

I've always loved poetry since I was a kid. Those short poems are very intriguing and brought me into a world of fantasy and imagination that too often we forget to have.

I enjoy the little stories - they leave you the space to continue them in your mind, as they are just an incipit to let your creativity flow.
I also liked the layout that helps the reader to achieve the point I've just mentioned above.

Definitely a great, entertaining read not only for kids.

Wonderful. I have become a fan of William O'Brien through his mystical and fantasy world of Peter. His descriptive narratives of the magic and odd...sometimes dark creatures...allows you to journey with Peter through this strange realm. I am looking forward to the continuing series of this dark fantasy. A massive 5 star rating, you won't be disappointed in this thrilling book of verse.
