Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.
I started this one last summer and then didn’t renew KU. I also wasn’t sure what was happening between Gabby and Riley and it was too serious for me at the moment. But I did enjoy jumping back into the series. This one was multi-layered and deep.
The spiritual content was also satisfactory. Gabby is a growing young Christian so there are some elements she’s learning to trust God in.
SPOILER ALERT——This is probably my favorite in this series so far. Gabby takes a break from her normal crime scene cleaning, and takes a PI job for a friend. Since her fiancée was shot in the last book, his therapist thinks it would be better for him to not have the pressure of getting married, for him to focus on his brain injury. So he moves in with his parents, and sort of leaves Gabby hanging. Then this cold case job from a new friend comes up. His parents and sister were murdered 10 years ago in Cincinnati, can Gabby find clues that the police and prior PI’s have not been able to uncover? And when someone starts following her, calling her and giving death threats, can she still go through with it? And does she let this new friend and his British accent, loads of money, charm out the wazoo entice her to abandon her former fiancé? You will have to read it to find out those answers. But make sure you start the series from the beginning or you will lose so much. Plus, you meet new friends in this book that end up having spin off series of their own.

I had a hard time with this one. The whodunit was a great story to follow with the twists, as usual. The earlier books were such a good balance between the mystery/suspense side and the lightheartedness of Gabby's personal life with her sense of humor and quirky friends. These last few books seem lacking in balance. The suspense gets more intense in books 5 & 6 while the lighthearted parts go away. By this story, she is distanced from Sierra, the relationship with Riley is a mess, even Parker isn't around. She has other relationships but they all seem tense or depressing or frustrating. It makes the story less fun. I'm hoping the next few books reconnect her to some positive aspects of her life to balance the suspenseful side. Otherwise I'm afraid it'll end up being way too depressing.
Love the series but this story was a little depressing with Gabby and her troubled romance that seems to have more downs than ups. Seems like as the series goes along there is less and less real interaction with the original side characters that were so much fun. It was an okay read, but hoping the next book puts more of a smile back on my face.
I really enjoyed this book, Mucky Streak! I enjoyed the last few chapters as Gabby begins to unravel the mystery of “who dun it”. The pace had me so excited to find out who it was. Gabby is an amazing person and her thoughts about her life and her relationship with Riley are always enjoyable to read. I liked how Gabby was able to work at solving a cold case from 10 years ago. I highly recommended this book. It is one that you cannot put down till you’re done.
Barritt's writing has really matured from the start of the series and so has Gabby. I struggled with liking Gabby in the earlier books, but she has really grown on me as she's "grown up." This one has an engaging mystery and interesting characters. Definitely worth sticking with the series to get here.
In Mucky Streak I didn't like it that Gabby is even growing farther away from Riley. He's in DC and another man is showing her attention. Garrett seems like a nice enough fellow but he's not Riley. Will Riley and Gabby ever find their way back to each other? In this book Gabby is hired by Garrett to uncover the mystery of his entire family's murder that happened 10 years earlier. Plenty of suspenseful moments in this book. I was not able to guess who the murderer was.
This is the second time I've read this book and I still get mad at him. Sierra puts a new perspective on his reasons though so I guess he's still the same Riley looking after Gabby. I love having Holly and Jamie involved because I've already read her books too.
I love these stories and especially like the religious aspect written into them. It shows that even though we love the Lord, we are all human during tough time. Kudos Christy
I really liked this mystery, and I am proud to say I figured out who is as behind it all, just before Gabby did! Though, didn't have it all figured about Garrett 's father.
Another fantastic read! I enjoyed every moment and then some. This is a fast read and easy to follow. The characters are really well described and the book just flows. Can't wait get to the next installment.
I've enjoyed this series so far but I found this one a little bit confusing and hard to follow the plot with so many characters dipping in and out. Still it hasn't put me off and I'm on to #8 now. Hoping to read about the wedding very soon!
Wow, what a mess Gabby has gotten herself into in this book! Each book just keeps getting more surprising and intense as they go. I am so looking forward to book number eight!
This story was a little different from the others in the series. Gabby is working in another city and without Riley’s help and support. It’s still enjoyable and full of suspense and danger.
This was such a great story. So many great life lessons—faith lessons. Not preachy, just real. It was just what I needed with what I’m going through in my life. And so much fun! I highly recommend. Great audiobook.
This book did not disappoint! I absolutely love this book and series! I was on the edge of my seat basically the whole time reading! I can't wait to see what's next for Gabby and to learn who she ends up with!
I love Christy Barritt's characters in her Squeaky Clean series, especially her heroine, Gabby St. Claire. Gabby is spunky, stubborn, quirky, and, best of all, human. She struggles. In "Mucky Streak", Gabby leaves Virginia to take on a short-term P.I. gig and we meet a whole new cast of characters who are fun to get to know.
My only complaint about the last couple of books is that I miss Riley!! I understand that this is part of Gabby's story and I'm hoping he is a little more present in the next couple of books.
If you are looking for a quick read with a good mystery that will keep you guessing and some great laughs, this is the book you're looking for.
Really loved this book, number 7 in the Squeaky Clean Mysteries. It was so well written and I ran through so many emotions, I laughed, I cried, I was sad and even a little depressed. Several times I wen awwwwwh and there were parts I was just plain mad. A good book!!!!
The plot was really good and the characters were wonderful and the mystery was awesome. Wish I could say I solved it before the book did, but alas I did not. A good book.
This is a great series and well worth reading from the beginning!!!
With her fiancé on his way to recovery she needs something else to keep her mind busy. She is asked to work as a PI for Garrett a guy she met on another case. She like shim but doesn’t feel that she can always trust what he says. As they work hand in hand more she finds herself falling for him and questioning her feelings for Riley. It will make you want to have a love hate relationship with him and for this crime to be solved quicker. Another edge of your seat thriller.
This is a great series from Christy Barritt. It is a little different from the other books in the series, but still as page turning and enjoyable. Gabby normally works a crime scene and has now branched out in to restoring houses from other disasters. She takes a break from this to help out a former acquaintance and gets to take some time away from Virginia Beach. I liked the new characters and look forward to seeing them in the future.
Would you continue at a PI job even when your life is threatened? Gabby St. Claire does! I love Christy Barritt's mysteries. She gave me this ebook as a promotion to join her review team. She does not ask for good reviews, but so far I have had no complaints! Page turning terror is what you will get when you read this mystery. Hurry, get started!
