I find myself torn with this one. I am still interested to see where this is all leading to and what is going on. I understand that the next book is the last and I am curious to see how the author reveals the rest of the secrets and reconciles everything in one final short book... I am just really hoping that it goes as well as it has the potential to. I think I have some things figured out but I will admit there is so much drama and foolery going on it is hard to tell what will happen next. I'm looking forward to the conclusion.
Jessica suspects it was Nick who set off the fire alarm to ruin their evening, which it did. She confronts him the next day at work, and Nick still tells her she needs to break up with Dylan. While working in the basement archives at Morris Records, Jessica comes across a box that Nick left on the floor, as she kick the box, photos come out of the box. Jessica recognizes people in the photos and confronts Nick about what she suspects. They are honest with each other and Nick tells her she is correct in what she suspects, Jessica can't believe what's going on. Dylan still feels that he is no good for Jessica, but he tells her he loves her, Jessica is doesn't respond. Back at Morris Records Mr. Morris calls Jessica up to his office, as she gets off the elevator, she runs into Riley, neither Mr. Morris or Riley tell Jessica why she is there. Mr. Morris flips a coin and asks Jessica to call heads or tails if he should offer Dylan a recording contract. Dylan gets the contract, even though Mr. Morris doesn't think his new songs are all that good. Dylan and Jessica celebrate his good news spending the weekend in a hotel. Things start to steam up between Jess and Dylan, she also finds out that she looks similar to his deceased wife and wonders if that's why he has fallen in love with her. Dylan still thinks that Jess works for "Q", and when Jess shows him some of the picture she took from the archives with "Q" in them, he questions her. "Q" is the same person who hired Jess at Morris records, but she has never met him, because he was gone when she arrived for her internship.
I'm hoping for a happily ever after for Dylan and Jess in Volume 5!
We got some more answers in this one. We find out who Nick is and want the people at Morris Muisic are planning. We also find out who Q is in this installment.
I hope things don't end badly for Jess. Her relationship with Dylan keeps growing but at the end of this installment it feels like something might happen between them.
Jess has info she can blackmail people with. I hope the girl does something. I wish she would do something instead of going back and forth between thinking of quitting and staying. I wish she would choose one and go with it. I hope she toughens up.
I really hope that she's not being used by everyone and she doesn't get her heart broken in the worst way ever.
I like Jess but she needs to stop being so naive and innocent. And Dylan needs to stop acting like he's bipolar. He can be sweet one minute and yelling the next. I hope Jess learns to play the game and doesn't let them dictate to her who she should date, what she should wear or what she should basically do everyday.
I loved this installment and highly recommend it. Can't wait for the next one. I really don't want it to end. There's still so many things that need to be uncovered. There are so many people out for revenge in this book. It's really good.
I am an addict. I am addicted to Jessica Rivera & Dylan Wolf. They make me laugh, they make me groan in frustration, they keep me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what is going to happen next. I love all the twist & turns this story takes. When I open each book, to read, from the first page to the last, I am drawn in & don't want to stop. For anything. JJ Knight has created 2 realistic characters, who are going through situations that could set someone on their backsides & they would just give up, but our hero, & heroine don't. They fight for what they want, & acheive the goals they are straining for, personally & professionally. I have a feeling that the 5th & final book is going to be even more of a roller coaster ride. I hate that the story will end, but like Jess, I will be happy to have all the pieces of the puzzle in place, and this has definitely been a doozy of a puzzle. Still looking for extra thumbs for the thumbs up!
**********I was given an Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an honest review by the publisher****
In all honesty, this has been the most engaging series that I have ever read in a very long time. I have never been so engrossed in a book before that I had to literally stop everything that I was doing and read it from cover to beautiful cover before. It took maybe an hour and a half to read this because I couldn't focus on anything but what happens next in this thrilling installment.
What I really hate the most about this series is that this is the second to the last book and I won't be able to look forward to finding ARCs in my mailbox from this stunning author anymore. It's getting close to bittersweet for me.
Things are definitely heating up between Dylan and Jessica: the sex (the car scene was sinfully hot and ended entirely too soon); the mystery of Morris Music, who Q is, what everyone's roles are in this cat-and-mouse game; and then there is the stunning question of why Jessica looks almost identical to Susan, Dylan's dead wife. There are so many mysteries swirling around this installment that I have a hard time sorting them all out. And I can't even think about how the final book will be long enough to explain how things will end.
This book was thrilling, sexy, and ended entirely too quickly. I only hope that I don't die from a massive heart attack when the mysteries are revealed and the games are over. The one thing I want to know is if Jessica will survive it all when everything is revealed. Or will she be left heartbroken?
The best line in the entire book was this:
"He closes his eyes and smiles. Instead of loosening his grip, he digs in harder. I stare up at his face. I love him. And that scares me. I came to this city with nothing. Now I have something to lose. There's a reason they call Los Angeles the City of Broken Dreams." I got cold chills and goosebumps at this very last line in this book. Because it spells trouble on the horizon. The kind of trouble that Jessica may not be able to handle. And if she can't handle it, I am not so sure how I am going to fare at the end of the next book. I have gotten so attached to this characters and I don't really want to let them go any time soon.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes sweet, sexy, mysteries. This book is absolutely worth your time to read. I can't recommend it any more than that. Go out there and read it already.
Revenge 4 by JJ Knight released early. The Revenge series has had me hooked from the very first volume. The plot is complicated, the characters are mysterious and all seem to have some kind of agenda, the “villain” or “bad guy” seems to be the record company, and all are leaning towards the goal of signing a record deal that could make a street busker an overnight superstar. In the thick of all this action is a sizzling hot new romance between a naïve girl working for the recording company and an intense soon to be rock star. Their chemistry is through the roof. Their relationship is an emotional rollercoaster. Their affair is being manipulated. One thing is very clear. Jess, the naïve girl, and Dylan, aka Brandon; the soon to be singing sensation, are falling in love. This relationship may not survive the next play in this intricate game that is unfolding right before our eyes.
Revelations are made. Questions are somewhat answered. These somewhat answers open up a whole new line of questions. Some of the characters pasts are revealed, but not completely.
Revenge 4 has taken this story into a new direction. The theories I formed in the first three books have gone to the wind. New theories are evolving. Honestly, I think JJ Knight is going take readers to the edge in Revenge 5. I think the readers are going to fall off the cliff and are going to be caught by a surprise ending.
I cannot wait for the final book, Revenge 5. I need to get off this rollercoaster and catch my breath.
I highly recommend the Revenge series by JJ Knight. It is explosive!
JJ Knight is such a wild writer. She always manages to confuse the heck out me! One minute I'm thinking I have the story all figured out and then it takes a sudden turn. I absolutely love that and it's the main reason why I've stuck with this series.
Yay for answers! We get quite a few of them that eases the confusion one might have. The devious plan that Morris Music has conjured up and the reveal of Q's true identity are two things we find out in this installment.
Jess has the ball in her court and can do some serious damage with it. I'm curious to see what she ends up doing with all the information she has. All she seems to care about it is Dylan and how the info will affect him, but she never for a second takes herself into consideration. I worry that Jess might very well get in the cross hairs of this battle (more so than she already is).
Jess and Dylan have become closer, but there is still barriers being thrown up by Dylan. He's yet to be fully committed to her and she certainly senses that. He continues to have his mood swings and she somehow manages to put up with it. I can see her working with him to ease away his stress and problems, but I feel it'll take time and perhaps some distance from LA.
Still waiting for more on Jess' roommate/sister and anticipating her involvement. She makes a surprising appearance in one scene that suggests she might be more involve than we think.
I can't express how much I love the fact that this series always keeps me guessing and intrigued to the point where I'm checking my inbox every day like a mad woman hoping the next installment is waiting for me. I'm eager to see how everything plays out and finishes in the final book. Which I'm both excited and sad for since it marks the end of the series.
*A complimentary copy was provided by the author for an honest review.
One thing I can definitely say about Revenge is IT ISN'T PREDICTABLE OR BORING! Just when I think I have everything figured out, I get surprised all over again. I'm usually very good at figuring out who the good guys/bad guys are and solving all the other mysteries along the way, but with this Revenge saga, I'm batting a big fat zero! As far as I know, anyway. Goodness knows that by the end, things could take another twist and I'd end up being right about a thing or two. I certainly do not claim to have all the answers after reading part 4, and hesitate to even make any guesses! I am starting to wonder if both Jess and Dylan aren't innocent in all this scheming. I had assumed all along that Dylan wasn't telling the truth about a lot of things, but now it seems like his half-truths weren't covering up anything really awful. Notice I said "seems like". You just never really know with this story, but part 4 did make Dylan appear more innocent and in love than the past installments. Maybe they're both getting played by Morris Records? And who saw the intrigue and hostile take-over of the record company that's looming in the future? It looks like Nick isn't "Q"after all. That explained a lot of the sneakiness going around, but also raised some more questions. It's almost frustrating to never get any clear answers, but I'm betting it would be easier to swallow if all five parts were either read back-to-back or compiled into one complete novel. Then, the wait for answers wouldn't be driving me crazy. I do hope that Knight consolidates parts 1-5 so that I can buy the entire story all at once as I am currently reading them separately as ARCs for the author. Now back to anxiously awaiting the fifth, and final, installment. It can't get here soon enough!
Kudos to this author as I am still trying to guess the mystery behind the characters and what the truth is.
The book is called Revenge so someone is seeking it and by the looks of it the Revenge has to be against Dylan. The question is, is Jesse just a pawn or is it against her too. All I know is whatever the reason, it is somehow tied to Sarah, Dylan's dead wife.
Some more information comes to light in book 4, but it only deepened the mystery. We find out who Q is, Riley is up to no good, Nick reveals some more info and his true identity is revealed, which blew my prior theory. Also Dylan tells Jesse all about Sarah and his marriage, another theory on paper thrown in the trash. So as I sit here typing I still ponder the final direction the author will take since it is to conclude in book 5.
As for Jess, I am happy she told Dylan some info she has discovered, because that may be her only saving grace to have a future with this man. She has hidden so many secrets and took and spent corporate money from the shady music company that her hole is pretty deep. Dylan only wants one thing, Jess. Someone he can love and trust whole hardheartedly. She has had plenty of opportunities to come clean and not once has she done that. Depending how things play out Dylan will either see it as a form of betrayal or see she was just a pawn, in this nasty game of revenge. I just hope it's the latter. Boy book 5 can't come fast enough.
I received an ARC of Revenge 4 and these are my honest thoughts.
J.J. Knight blend of intrigue and romance is at its best in the fourth installment of her series Revenge. This book starts with alarms ringing which is a clear metaphor of things to come. Every character should come with a trip alarm, because whatever you think of each one of them can easily change in moment notice or a flick of a page. Our heroine, Jess is now completely in love with sexy and mysterious Dylan Wolf. Their relationship moves fast and everybody seems to have an interest on their affair. Jess' coworkers start to show their real faces and intentions, ranging from pure interest in her advancement to business as usual where everything is game. The office intrigue is my favorite part of this installment because Knight gives us a realistic view of how entertainment business can and is a hard, survival of the fittest environment and the glamour is only that, an illusion to be enjoyed by the public. Jess' roommates also make an appearance, and the girls dynamic, drama and all, is well represented. Jess definitely have 2 sisters to be there for her and will like to know everything about her and Dylan in all its glorious detail. Revenge 4 seems to have it all: family, friends, work, intrigue and above all steamy romance. Once again, I can't put this book down and the suspense of killing me! We are almost there, Ms. Knight, let’s get to the finish line (a.k.a. Revenge #5)
Okay, now that I've been able to read the entire 5 "volumes", I still think this could have been broken into two books, maybe three. Five is a little much, and these are not "volumes". They are barely novellas by themselves. Regardless, I ended up liking these as a whole.
Revenge, Volume 3
Between Dylan and his mood swings and the naive Jess, you can't help but continue reading this volume to see what kind of a train wreck this book is. Throw Riley into the picture for Jess and her life unravels a little more... And as for Nick... just what is Nick up to where Jess and Dylan are concerned?
Revenge, Volume 4
Dylan's smitten, Q's true identity is out, and Jess is beginning to put pieces together between Q, Dylan, Morris Music, Nick and Nick's mother. I finally enjoyed this "novella" more than the first three "novellas".
Revenge, Volume 5
So I finally get to enjoying this little series and bam... no explosive conclusion. I feel let down despite actually ending up enjoying the story of Jess and Dylan.
If you decide to read Revenge, you must read them in order. Each "novella" is a short, quick read in which you could read them in the course of a weekend or over a few weeknights after work.
All in all, I must admit that I'm looking forward to more from J.J. Knight, but the next title is also a series so I will wait to have the entire series before I read them.
Recieve my adavanced copy for review and read it almost as quickly as I downloaded it. Knowning that there is only 1 more volume after this I thought that I'd start getting answers to all my questions... but nooo now I have to wait for #5. Some of the mystery is slowly revealed in this volume but everytime you lear something it just makes you wonder how it will all fit together in the end.
Jess still has a bit of that wide eyed innocent in her and I really hope she doesn't become a jaded cynic who won't be able to trust anyone by the end of the series. It just seems that everyone is playing everyone and I'm just not sure who to root for. Dylan confuses me; he's definitley flawed and possibly a little unstable but I truly hope he really does love Jess and that the two of them will eventually spill it all to each other. We found out all about Dylan's past as he spilled his story to Jess and it's definitely interesting. However, considering his past I wonder how he will react when Jess finally tells all. Is he the forgive and forget type or will his hurt/anger win? I guess we wait and see in volume 5.
Thanks to the author, I was allowed to read an ARC of this book for an honest review. This book, just as the previous ones, picked up right where #3 left off. As a reminder is part #4 of a five part series. As in my previous reviews on #1, #2 and #3, if you just can’t handle cliffhangers, you may want to wait just a few weeks and get all five parts at one time.
We jump right back into Dylan and Jess as they continue to grow closer. This book reveals even more about Dylan and also more about some other characters related to Morris Music. It reveals just enough to make the mysterious stuff even more confusing. We get to see Jess realize her deep feelings of love for Dylan and see him show her the same. We find out more about Nick and who he really is.
I loved how this one is really leading up to the finale. Since Book #5 is the final in the series, we should be getting ALL the answers in the next book. I have more questions now than ever along with the concern that Dylan and Jess may not get their HEA. Anxiously awaiting #5! Bring it on J.J. Knight! Five stars again….a five star series!
I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
As I sit here trying to get my thought together to write this review, one thought is foremost in my mind...... one more book to find out how it all ends! I've been hooked on this series since the very beginning. J.J. Knight has done a wonderful job giving her fans a world that we can sink our teeth into. I have a feeling after all the books are out I'll want to reread them all together in one shot again to see if I missed anything the first time.
As for the story line. We now have Jess being threatened with Dylan's career unless she makes some drastic changes. Dylan on the other hand is starting to show more of his sweet side where Jess is concerned. You can tell that he is starting to fall for her more and more each time their together. Throw in the half-sister from hell who seems to be trying to butt in where she doesn't belong and you have drama for a lifetime. Who are these people helping Dylan with his career and what is really going on with Nick and Morris Records? Only time will tell. So PLEASE hurry with #5 J.J. Knight. Were all dying to know!
Still trying to figure out which directionJJ Knight is taking this series. I have many different conclusions running around in my head and I am still not sure if there is a direction the has not yet been revealed. I have a feeling there is going to be another curveball in Revenge 5. If it is anything like the first 4 books in this series. I have been on the edge of my seat since I read Revenge 1 and I have yet to be disappointed. As each book comes out there is more revealed as well as more curveballs thrown in. I am rooting for Jess and Dylan. I am hoping that they will make it through this but I am still worried because I still can't quite figure out who is the one out for Revenge. I have several ideas but I am still not able to pin-point who it is or if there is someone that we haven't gotten any details on yet. Once again JJ Knight has me wondering how this will all end and who is the one pulling all the strings, really... I can't wait to read Revenge 5 and then read all of them together so I can see if there is something I missed all along.
I can’t get enough of Jessica and Dylan. There are many more secrets revealed within this volume and I can’t wait to see how the author is going to pull this story all together for the final installment.
Jessica is faced with more decisions about what she needs to do to be with Dylan. But she also has to decide if she wants to be with Dylan. She must decide what it takes to love and how does she know if it is real.
We get much more insight into Nick and his crazy past and ties within the company. I can’t wait to learn more about the infamous ‘Q’. I think there is also still more to learn about Jessica’s roommate/sister, what role does she play and is she out for herself or does she really care about her sister.
For a small town country girl going to the big city, Jessica has gotten herself into a mess. What is in the future for Jessica and Dylan, can they make it through or was it never meant to be?
J.J. Knight this series is amazing. I can’t wait to see what twist and turns you have for us in the final installment!
JJ has done it again, with Revenge Part 4!! This story is full of twists and turns and Jess doesn't know who to trust. It seems as if everyone has some sort of agenda and is using her for one reason or another. At times I want to hug her and tell her everything will be alright and other times I want to strangle her. She needs to grow a pair and tell her employees off, she also needs to come clean with Dylan before it all blows up in her face. Sometimes secrets can be a dangerous game and how does she expect Dylan to trust her when she is hiding some big secrets from him. Part 4 is a roller coaster ride of emotions and I can't wait for the final chapter. Who will come out on top and will Jess finally stand up for herself? Will she lose Dylan in the end or will he be able to forgive her for the secrets she is keeping?
This is a very exciting series and I have been impatiently for each part to come out. In this book, Jess and Dylan's feelings for each other come out and we find out more about who Nick really is. I was so glad to learn more about Dylan and his past but surprised about it too. This series has so many mysteries that I just have not been able to get it out of my mind while waiting for the next book. J.J. Knight has an amazing way of keeping her readers interested and wanting more.
This book surprised me a bit in that I didn't feel it was as captivating as the first three parts of this story and I wasn't really drawn to Jess in this one. Even with that I am really looking forward to reading Part 5 and getting all the answers.
I received a complementary copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.
More twists and turns for poor Jess. All she wanted was to put her degree to use in the music industry...but as the story progresses the more questions arise.
Interference from all angles...one minute Morris music wants her to woo Dylan and then next she is being told to dump him. Jess struggles with her work ethics and her feelings for Dylan.
Secrets slowly become revealed and Jess slowly realises the evil web she has become tangled in is not all that it appears.
Who can she trust? How much of her journey is hers to decide and how much of it is out of her hands?
Ms Knight, as the plot thickens, my desire to know more grows...I am team Dylan right about now...Love this series! Can't wait for volume five!
I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review, so here it is. Jess is still trying to figure out what the company, Morris Music, wants her to do for Dylan. They want her to break up with him so he can write heartbreaking songs instead of love songs. Jess doesn't want to to hurt him and in the end hurt herself. Will the company let her do the job she was hired to do or will they keep having her be arm candy to help other artist? Will Dylan sign on with Morris Music? After finding out who Nick actually is, can Jess really trust him to tell her the truth? Is the whole company off their rockers and lost their minds? I need book 5 now and I hope Jess and Dylan get their HEA. Another great installment to this series by J.J. Knight and I loved it!
JJ Knight continues to deliver a delicious romance with plenty of twist & turns. Just when you think it you have figured out the plotKnight delivers a new level of intrigue. Big Bad Wolf, Dylan Wolf, continues to play cat & mouse with Little Red Ridinghood Jess. Jess continues to play the twisted games engineered by the folks at Morris Music.
Will the characters we are coming to love and root for surive the lies and deceptions. How are Morris & Q connected? Will Jess and her sister make peace? Can Jess & Dylan find happily ever after in spite of everything in their pasts?
I eagerly await the final installment and am hoping the vast array of unique characters at Morris Music will provide one or two spinoff series!
I received the ARC for an honest review. This is book 4 in the series and you really will want to read them in order. These are short reads and flow just perfect. You will NOT be able to put them down.
I have no idea where to began. I have fallen so hard for Dylan and my heart beats with Jess's. Things are taking off for Dylan as he signs the million dollar contract but Jess is suspicious of things ever since she got some info out of Nick and found out who Nick's mom was. Then there is the pictures. There is a lot to take in in this book and a lot of steamy sex. The fact that Dylan has professed his love to Jess and seems to be open with her now makes it even better. I am patiently awaiting the next book. NOT i'm in dire need for the next book. Awesome job again!!!
This series is just amazing. I'm so upset it will be over soon. This book didn't really leave off with a major cliffhanger like the others. of course it still had to end and left me with so many questions still. I don't want to give any spoilers so I can't say much but I do want to say if you're on the fence about buying this series you need to just buy it. I've never read a series of books before this. I'm really enjoying it, even if they end what seems like so quickly it's not, the book just sucks you in and you don't realize it's been a few hours since you actually started reading it. I can't wait for the last book. I'm amazed so far and so curious as to see how everything wraps up. Buy it!!!
This series is absolutely wonderful. There are so many twist and turns. Just when think you have figured out what is happening JJ says I don't thinks so and leaves your heading spinning and saying I dont think so. She keeps you so enthralled in the story that when it ends you want to scream for it ending. I can't wait for the last book in the series, I wonder what will happen and cant wait to discover who, what, wherr, when, and why. That is what this series leaves you asking after each book. While I will be sad that it will be ending, I am excited to see how it ends. If you have nit read this series yet, what are you waiting for!?!?!?! Grab it up today!!!!!
I'm enjoying this short series from JJ Knight and the story building between Jess and Dylan. While I want to believe that Dylan is a good guy, the feelings that are coming from this story make him sound shadier and shadier. Jess is falling hard for him whether she wants to admit that or not, and it will be interesting to find out where there story leads them and how it will end.
WARNING: Some thoughts that might spoil the story if you haven't read it yet.
What is Dylan's story, was he involved with his wife's death? Was Jess hired to bring him back to the talent he may have had before his marriage was falling apart and his wife died? What is Nick and his Mom's part in all this and is "Q" a part of it.
Love books where it keeps you guessing!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
We finally learn who the mysterious Q is. The same man who hired Jess at Morris Music, David Ambler, is Q. David was fired from Morris soon after hiring Jess, so you have to wonder why he would be pushing Dylan to sign with Morris.
Nick finally reveals that he is related to the Vice-President of Morris Music (she is his mother) and that they are planning to overtake Morris Music from the current owner.
Dylan gets his record contract through Morris, but what will be sacrificed in order for him to keep his contract.
All seems wonderful at the end of this part, but something big is brewing, I just can’t put my finger on what is going to happen.
I love how JJ Knight picks up where the last book left off. The cliff hangers at the end of each book make you keep wanting more. I am interested to see how the series is going to end after the 5th book comes out. I think I am definitely going to want more and so many questions. I am still a big fan of Dylan and Jess. I'm interested to know what is up with Nick and his mom and who is "Q". I am totally stoked about the 5th book and JJ Knight's Revenge series is seriously refreshing. Revenge 4J.J. Knight
