Reign is convinced that Nate is the right guy for her. That’s until Micah walks into her Mom’s restaurant looking for a job. Reign can’t seem to stop her heart from yearning for the guy with the mysterious sea blue eyes and a melting smile.
Micah is all but perfect. He’s spent eight months in a juvenile detention center back in Colorado for his unintentional involvement in a crime. Now at nineteen and hoping to escape his ghosts, he lands a part-time job working at a seaside restaurant in Newport, Rhode Island where he meets the irresistible Reign.
He can’t help the way he feels whenever he’s around her, but she’s already taken, and Micah doesn't want to disrupt her life or get himself in any more trouble. But then his attraction for Reign proves too strong to deny, and Micah finds that he just might discover a reason to stop running.
I'm a writer of contemporary romance, suspense, and fantasy. I live in Rhode Island with my hubby. Aside from writing, I enjoy blogging, reading, listening to music and watching movies.
Reign was an okay character, but I didn't love her. I had no idea what she seen in Nate, as he was an absolute arse. Micah was better, but it took me a while to warm to him.
There was times where I felt bored while reading this, as the story seemed to be dragged out a lot more than it needed to be. If the pacing had been slightly quicker, I would have enjoyed it a lot more.
Overall, Alright read, but was dragged out a bit too much.
Is that excitement I feel bubbling around in my chest?

Why, yes, it is!
--------review----------
Our Kind Of Love is a realistic New Adult story about a girl struggling to overcome the ghosts of her past and a boy fighting his way through the guilt of his mistakes.
This story takes place in summer and it had that summer vacation feel to it that I like and find perfect for a summer read. So, if that's what your looking for...ADD THIS TO YOUR LIST.
It starts off with Micah getting a crush on this mystery girl in the park. He's attracted to her right off the bat, but she's gone before he has a chance to approach her. Turns out she's his new boss's daughter. And the attraction is mutual. I found Micah's crush on Reign to be a little awkward, but reality is that CRUSHES ARE AWKWARD. Soon that awkwardness faded and real chemistry started to bloom between the two young adults. One problem though...Reign has a boyfriend. I couldn't stand Nate. It irritated me that Reign stayed with him as long as she did, but she came to her senses and I applauded the girl, loudly.
Reign is a people pleaser. She doesn't like to disobey her parents and she's been called boring more then once in her life. I found her to be the opposite, actually. She was pretty refreshing, to be honest. As was Micah, he's not a virgin and he'shad his share of hook ups, but he wasn't a man whore. He had his guy moments where he thought of squeezing the globes of Reign's asscheeks, but he was really quite the gentlemen. He's a bad boy in the sense that he's done bad things but he's not at all a bad guy. They both have their problems, their insecurities, that make them complicated but all the more likable to me. I loved their moments of jealousy. To me that's a fun emotion to read about. It's just so human.
I found myself in deep with this story. I fell for the characters and it's so realistic. These characters have real problems that you or me might have. I think the plot was great and the drama level was believable and spot on. Not overdone in the least. That's what had me.
The only thing I could complain about was the grammar errors, but that really didn't bother me. I'm not one to harp on that, anyway. I always knew what was meant and being said. The writing style was good, I loved each voice. Micah was amazing as was Reign.
Really happy I got to read their story.
I was provided with a PDF copy of OUR KIND OF LOVE for an honest review.
Honestly, I give it 5 stars for my utter enjoyment. Shane Morgan has become an author I can rely on for entertaining me with her stories. Check out her books and support this wonderful new author.
An e-copy was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
~3.5 stars~
Hmm, where to start? Well, this is the fourth book I've read from the wonderful Shane Morgan, and while I did enjoy this novel, I have to say that it is my least favorite of hers so far. The story was sweet and about young love, the characters were likable [enough], but something about this novel just didn't fully click with me.
Let's start with the two MCs. Reign (such a lovely and unique name) is our heroine in this novel, and unlike Moya and Julian from Morgan's previous books, she came across as so clingy and unsure of herself, especially when it comes to Nate and Micah. It seemed like she was always concerned with how they felt about her--if they were angry with her, if they loved her, if Micah would choose her and choose to ultimately stay in Newport with her--when instead I just wanted her to be a strong and self-reliant heroine who is happy living with herself. Like her predecessors Moya and Julian, I wanted her to have an "ah-ha" moment in which she realizes that while having a boyfriend is nice, it's not necessary in order for her to lead a happy life. But it just didn't happen.
My problem with Micah (who seemed like a confident and sure character up until this point) was his indecision in the end. **mild spoilers ahead!** As most heroes do, he made a decision that ultimately ended up hurting our heroine as a result (even though he didn't mean to) and has to return to her in order to apologize, grovel, and otherwise beg the forgiveness of our heroine. Now, up to this point he's had (and acknowledged) these strong feelings for her, admitting he's fallen hard for her like no one else. But then suddenly he's unsure if he deserves her and concludes that it would be better if he just walks away! I wanted him to continue to be the knight in shining armor, ready to win Reign back, but again this didn't happen.
Other than these minor hiccups, the story was overall engaging and entertaining. I actually ended up caring for Nate more than I thought I would as he definitely surprised me in the end by redeeming himself from supposed-cheating-bastard-EX-boyfriend to maybe-he's-not-SO-bad Nate. I am definitely hoping Shane decides to write a sequel as I'm curious to how these characters end up down the road (especially the restaurant workers--you'll see why). Also, I'm kinda-sorta-almost-really hoping that Nate gets a cutie to call his own as well.
* I received a copy of the ebook in exchange for an honest review. *
I have read every book that author Shane Morgan has written so far and each one gets better and better. I love them all and would be hard pressed to pick a favorite if asked. She has a unique way to tell a story that makes the reader feel as if they are really a part of the story. It is almost like the reader steps into the book right along with the characters. It is amazing the way that she captures the readers attention and incorporates the daily day to day things so it feels like you are really there. Her characters are "real" people, not the rich billionaires that always get what they want. You can relate to them on a personal level, and that makes the book so much better. There are no guarantees for a "Happily Ever After", as the story is a story that you could hear from you best friend or relatives, that is how true they feel. I look forward to each and every book that she writes and am already waiting for the next one. I love the way the author describes the details of the settings, the characters and the way that the story flows. Once you start one of her books, you won't want to stop until you reach the end. I finished this one in 2 days and even then I didn't want to stop to sleep. It is an amazing journey and no matter which book you pick up by her, you will love it! I highly recommend this one to be added to your TBR list, the quicker the better!!! Enjoy it, it's an awesome read!!!
I was given a copy of this story for a honest review from the author...
A quick summary of the book...it's about a girl and boy, Reign and Micah, they are young adults who have a secret from their pasts and are trying to find their way in their new lives as adults. How they meet, come together and help each other.
This book was an easy, quick read. I really enjoyed the plot line and the characters. What I like about Reign is she is unsure of what to do, how to come to leave with her secret and trying to figure out her feelings for her boyfriend, Nate. She is very innocent and ready to relate to weigh being a girl right out of high school. Then we have Micah, who is trying to run from his past with traveling far distances, when he gets to Newport he meets Reign and from this point on love how they start their relationship, she denies it, he is doing everything he can to come out on top, etc...
Again I'm thankful that Shane gave me a chance to read this book, I really liked it a lot and recommend to it anyone wanting to read a quick, easy, New adult, innocent romance.
This is a sweet summer romance, and I liked the author's style. I found the characters realistic and their relationship touched me. I like the best friend, Claudia a lot, and I think she could have her own tale told i another book.
Yet, I had a problem with what Micah did in his past; I think it was too much to be left behind, but then again, the fact that I can't quite forget and forgive is another indication that Shane Morgan's done a great job writing the story, since it convinced me this much.
This was a fun beach read. I was able to download it for free for my Kindle, and I was interested in it because it takes place in Newport, RI (and the author is a RI native, as well). It's a light, fun read - not terribly deep or intellectual, but diverting and mostly well-written.
My review: Anything and Everything I say is based on MY opinion. This is be being a judgmental bitch so!
I didn't give this story less stars, because that would be unfair, but I wouldn't personally recommend this book. If you have questions about the story feel free to comment below,
There's only one word to describe how I felt whilst reading this work :
Disappointed
LETS BEGIN SHALL WE;(I won't spoil, much)
--Condensed version of my review. Boy likes Girl. Girl has a boyfriend. Girl likes boy. Boyfriend cheated on Girl. Girl kiss Boy. Girl broke up with boyfriend.Girl and Boy have sex. Girl Hides relationship with boy. Boy gets pissed talks to another girl. Girl gets jealous. Girls announces relationship. Parents approve. Girl's nightmares about her sister drowning get solved along with other conflicts of the boy. Boy left. Girl birthday, sorry ex-boyfriend shows, they are now friends. Boy is back! boy ask forgiveness. THE END.--
not-condensed:
Character Background.
Micah was sent to juvenile before. He and His friend Jason, got drunk and things went out of hand, leading to assault.
meanwhile
Reign's sister Mary died, because of her. Mary was asking her to swim with her, being jealous that Mary has an outgoing personality, she didn't. Mary starts to drown, Reign was so shock to do anything.
Awkward Beginnings :
The story starts with Micah (Mitchel Stephens, kept his real name to everyone, for a very long period of time!), who is supposedly,
"Broken. Outcast. Trash. Walking Shit" (describing himself and his life)-- His words not mine. But seriously all I gather from him, is he is so MELODRAMATIC! there isn't a single thing about him that shouts MANLY! He sounds like a hopeless and hapless romantic girl!
(not that there is anything wrong with that, except for the fact that he says its normal for him, to meet, hook up and move on! gosh! for you to be able to do that, you have to have some kind of CONFIDENCE!)
And I Qoute: "That girl’s simply another pretty face. How many have I seen these last few months? Why should I care?
We meet, hook-up, and I move on.
The last thing I’m looking for is a girlfriend. I’m a no commitments type of guy. None of them ever took the guilt away, anyway.
But it’s crazy how I feel now. From just one look, my gut says that girl is worth getting to know. Maybe someone I wouldn’t mind sticking around
See? totally contradiction of personality.
and both of them used the words, (he/she's just another handsome/pretty girl)!
okay so, we met Reign, the daughter of the owner of the restaurant that Micah and they are so fuckn' awkward! (pardon my language)
so me move to the next part of the story:
We'll learn that Reign has a boyfriend, Nate. Nate who's a fake, yeah yeah douche-bag boyfriend cliche, something is totally fuck'ed up with that dude.(keeps on changing persona)
but seriously I find Micah, to nosy to be a guy. asking tons and tons of question, look I know you're interested, but don't ask another co-worker:Aislin : whats up with her and Reign's boyfriend. that's not right, at all.
So the awkwardness, starts to fade, to awkward flirting, no chemistry at all!
Reign almost kiss him anyway and then someone tells her that Nate's been cheating on her: for someone who thinks she has a perfect boyfriend, she believed it without hesitation, what the heck? that's just unfair.
So Reign kissed Micah, broke up with Nate, Sleep with Micah, Lead her parents on, that she's still dating Nate. She gets jealous, suddenly announces that She and Micah are dating, then yeah. all is well!
To tell you the truth : for me Reign sister Mary was just another cliche gone wrong for me.
I'm sorry, it just didn't work for me. I didn't made any comment about the grammatical errors, well because I'm not that good in writing properly, why the hell would I criticize someone spelling and grammar mistake.
again; This is solely based on my opinion:(I don't care if you decide to read it or not) and I didn't give this story less star, because that would be unfair, but I wouldn't personally recommend this book. If you have questions about the story feel free to comment below.
Reign is convinced that Nate is the perfect guy for her. That’s until Micah walks into her Mom’s restaurant looking for a job. Now Reign can’t seem to stop her heart from yearning for the guy with the mysterious sea blue eyes and melting smile.

First I wanted to thank Shane, for offering me to send me an E copy, in exchange of review. I’m glad that she did because Shane Morgan did it once again. So far, the books that I have read by her been breathing taking, addictive, memorable. Our Kind Of Love wasn’t any different, the second I opened the first page, I was hooked. If I didn’t have to work, I would probably finished faster than I did. Our Kind Of Love was real, at least to me it felt real, the characters, along with a story. It was a type of a story that I can actually see happening in real life. That’s what I love about Morgan’s writing, the way that she describes and portrays her characters, you feel as if you are there with the characters in the story. That’s how I felt while reading Our Kind Of Love. I felt like I was there with both Reign and Micah, going through all emotions that they were, I even wanted to talk some sense into Reign. To me, the story was magical. A story that I will find myself wondering about long after I come to the end.
Reign & Micah, first of all I completely love the names, especially Reign, a name that you barely see and that made it more unique. You can’t help but love both of the characters, I know that I did. How can you not? Especially Micah, he’s a type of guy that I wouldn’t mind getting to know better. I believe that Micah is type of guy that almost every girl dreams of. I saw how girls wanted him from moment that he appeared, Reign included even if she wouldn’t admit it at first. I could tell from start, from the moment he saw her even before he started working with her that there was some sort of connection between two of them. A connection that her and Nate didn’t have. Micah treated her like any girl should be treated, with respect. I was waiting for her to figure out that he was one for her. He’s the one that made her happy. Of course when she finally did, I couldn’t help but smile.
It’s not too often that I dislike character. Expect Nate was one of those characters that I couldn’t like, no matter how hard I tried to. I mostly tried to like him because I liked Reign and I figured that there must been something that she saw in him. Plus the way he treated her half of time, and how he tried pressuring her into sex, it was hard for me to like him. At same time I could tell, that despite all that he did love her. I just wished he showed it in better way, maybe then he wouldn’t lose her. All through book I couldn’t help but wonder what Micah did, to land himself in Juvie, in beginning of novel. I had feeling it would be bad, but it turned out not be what I was expecting, I just don’t see Micah the type to do something that violent. Despite his past, Reign stood by his side, now that’s a love that will last a lifetime. I loved how Morgan ended the novel. It describes both their relationship and them well.
Our Kind Of Love, is a story about friendship, love and letting go. It’s a beautiful. If she wasn’t already, she would be one of my favorite writers already. Shane Morgan knows a way to capture reader’s attention, she’s going go a long way.

I feel bad to write a bad review because the author asked me to read this book for her, but I honestly can't even bring myself to finish it. I'm up to chapter nine, but that's more than enough, and I can probably already tell you all the "twists" this story is going to take.
Let's first start with the writing - not a huge fan. First person narrative is not easy to do well, and it's not done well here. There isn't much difference in the voice of the characters, and there is a LOT of telling instead of showing. I felt like I was reading a list instead of a natural, flowing description of what was going on in the scene.
This is also one of those cringey, instant love type novels. They lock eyes and are captivated and we have to listen to these embarrassing internal monologs as they both take turns gushing over how perfect and beautiful the other one is, and how they need to get to know one another better.
Nate. What an obvious, ridiculous, clichéd obstacle. Reign is written as this wonderful, obedient, smart, and kind girl. I don't believe for a second that she would fall for someone like Nate, or if she did, that she would allow him to treat him the way he does. It's also obvious from the moment we meet him that he's cheating on Reign, or has slept with someone else, probably the Aislin girl. Nate is just a really unnecessary and not well thought out/fleshed out obstacle for the two main characters, and he is just a super cliche at that.
A not so important nitpick-y thing was kind of the special snowflake names, but I get that that is a trend in YA literature.
I really wanted to like this one, but unfortunately it was not my cup of tea.
I can't decide what to rate this, maybe 3.5. I feel like it was similar to a lot of other new adult books. Reign's boyfriend Nate was a freaking jerk & I can't believe she didn't break up with him ASAP, especially for pressuring her about sex. Reign definitely frustrated me with the attitude to always keep Nate happy & ignoring herself, ugh. While I liked Micah, I thought Reign moved so fast with him; I was like woah girl, you don't even know anything about him and you do that! Anyway, it was a good thing I got a dual POV. Oh & Reign's friend Claudia gave terrible advice, wtf?!?! So kind of a frustrating book like most NA's in my opinion.
Shane Morgan has a beautiful YA novel with this one. The story line is sweet and has that touch of drama and angst.
The characters are strong and come through to the reader. I do have to say though that it’s an awful lot like the other YA books out there. Boy with dark past meets good girl they fall in love.
Reign is a sweet girl, a good girl with a secret that she can’t reveal and a boyfriend who she claims to love. Micah is the hot young thing that pops into town and is everywhere Reign looks. As they get to know each other their pasts come to light and even things in their present get clear.
This was an easy, simple read that will leave you heart warmed and smiling.
This was just all over the place superfluous. There was over dramatization where barely anything was happening and the whole thing with Micah's family? It felt forced to the point I was rolling my eyes every five pages. And how Reign is so sad and afraid that he won't come back when it had only been, what. a week? Not even? Get a grip, girl. She had more emotion about that than her dead sister. This along with the constantly switching tones and dependance on dialogue just didn't do it for me.
I was very thankful that the author gave me a copy to read her book. For me it was a good and fast read. I like how the story goes and enjoy reading every chapters of it. It is a summer love that you will enjoy reading.
This was definitely a cute story and I liked Micah's point of view and his background story. I feel like it wasn't my type of book though. I do like love stories but it's not my go-to. I feel like everything happened sort of fast between Micah and Reign. It was cute though.
It was sweet and sometimes naive behaving how two of the main characters flourish in this book. But it is a light and uplifting story that got me hooked on keeping up the reading from the first pages and throughout. And what else would you want from the book nowadays?
