“She’s still in there.”

It’s been three months since Emily’s demon has awakened inside of her. Months of burning pain, taunting, and most tortuous of all…silence.

Emily is forgotten. Or is she?

Asher continues to accept his destiny, though he suffers. Gwyn will do anything to protect him, including treachery. And Derek, a demon with no past and only mocking charm as his guise, is planning the biggest coup of all.

And he knows exactly how to begin…

Macy.

A battle of wills, a fight between love and evil and a wish to be noble all intertwine in Book 2 of the Dark Souls Series, but it may come as a surprise to discover what makes a true villain, and who--despite all obstacles--will be the one to fall in love first.

DISCLAIMER: As the characters grow into their roles, they will find themselves in more mature situations. Please keep in mind that Entwined includes some profanity, minor sexual situations, and violence.

Entwined is the follow-up to Dark Souls, so if you haven't read it yet there might be a few minor spoilers. I'll try to keep them at a minimum since you could read this as a stand alone, although I recommend you start with Dark Souls for the bigger picture. There is a MUCH bigger picture here and it's an awesome read.

Here goes ...

Emily continues her battle, but this story unfolded more of the Trine. I will focus more on that because who doesn't love a secret? A lot of surprises and interesting twists there more so as you delve into the why and how. That in itself made this an enjoyable read as more of the world built into the story, but in an exciting way.

There's still much to be learned about Damos and his Warriors. There's wrench in the HEA, but this IS dark fantasy. A HEA this soon would've felt wrong so I'm glad to see the story continues with more secrets and webs to undo in the future. However, this story does wrap itself up and that's what I love about well written series/trilogies. Yes, there are minor cliff hangers but nothing in this story was left untethered.

now I'd like to point out that as much as I loved watching Emily battle her "inner demon", I couldn't put this book down because of Macy. We tasted her strength in book one, but man this little human just blew me away with her self sacrifice. The end though ... OMG. I didn't see that coming ... Did not see it ... no m'am but I loved the twist.

Asher, Gywn, and Liam continued to pique my interest as the Trine. Fun twists and a blink of humanity from our raven haired tracker made for a interesting read. Not quite sure what exchanged between Liam and Macy at the end. Maybe it's the romantic in me, but it could have been something I read too much into. Regardless, I'll pick up book 3 (there will be a book 3, right?) just to see if anything more comes to light.

Derek! UGH! All I'm saying.

I didn't read Dark Souls, so I can't make any comments about that, but I can say that I had no problem getting into the story, even without having read the first one. So, yeah, it's number two in a series, but I think you could also read it as a stand alone. Which, in my opinion, means the author has done a really good job.

This was super engaging, a story with complex characters and tons of secrets to unravel. A fun ride with lots of twists and turns. And an ending that felt complete, but with plenty to play with should there be another in the series, and I am hoping there will be. I will definitely read it.

Time richly spent.
