So I am writing this book because I feel the need to address some issues that a lot of people are probably thinking but scared to say it. The privilege to getting old is I can say what I want to say. This is going to be the funniest but truest 5 chapter book you’ll ever read in your life so brace yourself and get ready for the ride of your life!
Good! This short book is the humorous musings of a 86 year-old grandma. She covers topics such as: proper fitting undergarments, foot care, hairstyles, and memories from her "juke joint" days. A light, funny read with African American colloquialisms.
In my mind, I can see Grandma Pearl sitting on her front porch shucking peas and talking mess as Ms. Mable's grand-daughter goes walking by...Ha Ha Ha (I'm from the South, so ya'll already know).
😂Book Quotes:
"First of all if you gone wear a tight dress wear some draws that gonna not show through the dress!"
(kindle loc. 46)
"I have never seen a man who wants a woman for their shoes and if he does he is crazy and you don't need to be messing with him anyway."
This book is "cute," and a quick read, but much less than what I expected. Grandma Pearl says a lot of the things many of us think but fail to say aloud. There are statements that one's "lived long enough to say it anyway" Grandmother might make and there are some "huddled in the corner talking about the girl walking by" statements. What's missing is the purpose. What is this book other than a litany of the same negative statements so many of us hear on a daily basis, statements made about sisters who may or may not know better? Grandma Pearl might have used this platform to tease and teach, not just tease. I rated this three stars as I understand that the intent was to offer the humor, not the education. Yet, I found that the lack of depth left this book with much to be desired, content wise.
This review is from: Girl That Mess is Too Tight: Your Meat is Showing: Advice From The World's Funniest Grandmother (Kindle Edition)
I understand this book was advice from Grandma Pearl, but it was not funny. the chapter and titles were needed to be addressed because it is plain as day individual do wear "tight" clothes, shoes, bras and more. But the solutions or rather points Grandma Pearl describe was corny, lack emotions and the advice was not advice. It was the opinion of Grandma Pearl, I don't believe the book is helpful at all.
That is my opinion, which no one care about anyway.
It was just an opinion of an old lady. Not funny at all. Especially, not her farting parts. She stated what she found irritable. Not even written with a plot or anything or at least a story line - only her ramblings about tight fitting clothes and shoes.
very quick read. kinda funny. she did answer a question lots of us have which is why do old people wake up so early!? because they don't want God to slip up on them while they're sleep.
