Alpha wolf Acksel wakes up one morning in the bed of the one human who was kind to him in school. Now, ten years later, Brynn Mara is snuggled up at his side, smelling like passion and sweet dreams. Even though Acksel has declared that his pack members can mate with humans from now on, he knows that any woman he takes as his mate will have a target on her back. Especially if she’s a fragile human. Deciding it’s better to cut things off than string her along when there’s no hope for a relationship, he leaves without a word and ignores her.
But it doesn’t matter if Acksel acknowledges her or not, because their night of passion has left a permanent reminder of what happens when one drunk wolf forgets protection. Angry, banished wolves from his pack discover Brynn’s secret and decide to use her against Acksel. His worst fears have come true, and the only woman who ever touched his heart is now suffering because of his mistake.
This book contains one ticked off, emotionally damaged alpha, the human woman who can tame him, and a sweet little surprise that no one expected.
I found this on a a Rejected Mate List and I’m a sucker for a rejected mate book… add in a jealous wannabe she-wolf…Yum. So, I was totally bummed when it didn’t shake out to be delicious. I’m going to give spoilers for the rest.
This book is triggering if you're a feminist. The Author has used she wolves as a breeding who are only good for sex and play toys.
As usual, the Alpha was a manwhore, sleeping with a woman every new moon and he was disgusting as fuck.
His sister was in heat and she loved a human boy but H didn't approve because he hated humans so this man goes and sends his sister to some isolated cabin in woods during her heat cycle and so she won't suffer he asks his best friend to go and help her and warns to have sex using condoms cause basically he didn't wanted her to get in trouble of pregnancy. May I add, this everything was done without his sister's approval!!
But his best friend turned out to be a back stabbing bitch and took some of his friends to gang rape his sister in the woods!!! This was the last thread o my patience. The author has just used girls as a sex object here!! Cause just when this all was happening, H was busy banging his regular 'Fuck toy' according to him.
Before I forget, the h was as usual a virgin who was tempted by a the alpha and he leaves her after taking her virginity with the fear of WHAT THE OTHER FEMALES WOULD THINK!!
YES, he leaves her cause he is scared his other hook ups, will get angry and be a problem to h once he takes her back to his pack. The fuvk you mean asshat, you're a fucking alpha!!! Well maybe the author had forgotten it. As usual.
This was the first and the last book I'll be reading of this author. No offence, but who thinks girls only as a source of release have no respect from me.
Its funny how you can love so many things about a story.. To where you are sighing and just blissfully happy. Then suddenly something pops up that detracts from all that was good. So that happens towards the end of this read and it kinda broke my heart. Even though this book didn't have the triggers that I normally avoid it just had one part that went too far into remembering the past of the hero. It was not needed. Without that part this would have been a major five star read for me. Acksel wasn't perfect and I honestly didn't think I'd like him.. Then he really proved he loved Brynn and she made him work for it. If the story would have not included his past with the she wolves it would have been epic. Even though he screwed up in the beginning.. He truly thought he was protecting Brynn so I felt he really redeemed himself then the past came up and it just made me feel ill. I can honestly say I do love this author's writing style and hope the next one doesn't have anything to take away from the Romance.
amazing. alpha having to prove himself after royally screwing up. B has all ways felt something for A but because he's a wolf and she human pack laws say they can't be together. Great story. Shows alphas still have to work for it. Great HEA.
Knowing that any woman he takes as his mate will have a target on her back, Acksel is determined to say away from Byrnn Mara because she’s human but circumstances and his wolf conspire against him and his worst fears come true in this fantastic paranormal romance.
Brynn has been in love with Acksel for since they were in school but he hates humans so she knows she can never happen and the reader can’t help but get caught up in this story as one night changes everything they believed. The attraction between Acksel and Brynn have smoldered for years are now erupting into some intense fiery passion and these strong captivating characters demand that you sit up and pay attention to their story as they capture you heart. The fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps anticipations high with lots of suspense, emotional turmoil, excitement and romance.
Tensions builds as banished wolves return for their brand of revenge and they make Brynn the key to that revenge but they didn’t take into consideration just how much they would tick him off. The well written scenes and details capture the imagination by painting vivid images that come to life and pull the reader into the story as the thrilling suspense ensures that they can’t put the book down until they have read it all.
Once again, the Wilde Creek wolves have set the town on its ear and thoroughly enchanted me and I can’t wait read the next one.
I love all of R.e Butler's books, they are all full of passion, witt and not to mention Alpha Hunks...
This one was no exception she wrote a great passionate love story... This Alpha didn't beat around the bush to get into his mates pants though, he just dug in and what a way to wake up!
I liked that this story didn't have all the gore that comes with the territory, but lots of humanity and lots of passion.
Brynn proved once again that you don't have to be a wolf to get the Alpha.
The Alpha’s Heart is an intense shifter romance with several plot lines woven throughout the story. While there is a lot going on, it’s all related and doesn’t feel overloaded. I will be completely blunt in saying that although Acksel will never be a favorite character of mine, he does come a long way toward being a more likable alpha during the course of his and Brynn’s story.
Soon after he’d made the first of many changes to the rules of his wolf pack allowing the members the freedom to love as a mate a wolf, other being or a human, Acksel found himself drunk and a bit depressed following a scent that would lead him to heaven, his mate. Trouble was he was actually too drunk to know where he was ending up at, but certainly not drunk enough to find paradise in the owner of the sweet scent’s bed. His surprise the next morning was the cinnamon scent of Brynn all over him. A woman who he’d had a crush on since their school days, but was forbidden by his pack’s rules to pursue. Well, he’d done more than pursue this time, and even though he’d changed the rules he knew that trying to make a future with this human would put a huge target on her back. No, it was best if he just slipped away… trouble was he left something very important behind.
Brynn and Acksel’s romance gives a better understanding of the situation within his pack. Who the trouble makers are and who those most loyal to him are… and who is a betrayer as well. The different layers of this story make for a very intense, and intriguing romance. The danger to Brynn is very real, as is the devotion that Acksel is feeling now that he’s acknowledged his mate. It’s very easy to get caught up in the politics of the pack, the new members we meet who will have their own stories told one day and learning to live a much different life as an alpha female for a human. The changes in Acksel are apparent. Oh, the arrogance is still there but it’s tempered by love and understanding of being in a committed relationship himself. Brynn has such strength that even she didn’t realize, her wisdom and compassion in taking on a new role shows everyone what an alpha female should be. I enjoyed their story, even if I’m still not an Acksel fan.
I would recommend this story and this series – and because of the world building, the stories that flow from one book to the next I would highly suggest that these be read in order for the most understanding and enjoyment.
I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.
2 1/2 stars, This wasn't a bad book, the story was really good and the writing was great but Acksel the hero was too week and chicken to be the alpha, he cared to much about what the other werewolves though and ended up waiting YEARS to make a move on the heroine and then **SPOILERS** he left her after that one night because he needed a she-wolf who was strong. My other huge issue was that the she-wolves that had been with him got away too easy with treating the heroine Brynn like crap and talking about sleeping with Acksel in the bed that he and Brynn now shared. I get that Brynn had to show her strength but he should have FLIPPED out**END SPOILERS**
Brynn and Acksel went to school together and when everyone picked on him(before his change) Brynn was always kind to him even though she was in the "in" crowd. Both Acksel and Brynn always liked each other but the pack law was that no-one could mate a human or be banished(even though he is the alpha and can change the laws). When Acksel's sister falls in love with a human and mates with him Acksel changes the rules(but he wouldn't do that for Brynn). Even thought the law is changed Acksel still stays away from Brynn because he knows that as the Alpha he needs a strong she-wolf to be the alpha female, because the other she-wolves will not make it easy on the mate he chooses because of jealousy(again he doesn't change the laws for this either**spoilers till later**end spoilers).
When Acksel goes out one night and drinks to much he smells Brynn and knows she is his mate and can't deny his feelings anymore. Going to Brynn's house they become intimate only to have Acksel leave in the morning before she wakes up. Brynn was devastated she always wanted to be with Acksel but knew with the rules they could never be together but she had hoped with him coming to her he decided to be with her. When she tries to call Acksel but he ignores her for weeks, till Mia a she-wolf and best friend to Brynn tells him Brynn is pregnant.
Now that Acksel has decided he wants to be with Brynn others have plans to take Brynn and force Acksel to leave town and renounce his alpha status. But even when that situation is taken care of many still aren't happy with Acksel's choice and he and Brynn will both have to decide if they are willing to do what is necessary to be together.
I think Acksel took the easy way out way too much in this book (especially since he was the alpha), and I also think he got off way too easily for what he put Brynn through. I'm not saying this book was bad because it wasn't, the world building was very interesting, and the side characters were written with as much care as Brynn and Acksel, but all of that got lost and felt over shadowed with Acksel. I think in PR an author can get away with way more when it comes to the heroes behavior (especially his possessiveness and strength) and I just didn't see that in this book. I think if the author had made a few changes this book would have been great.
With a pack that is running under the older rules and guidelines, Alpha wolf Acksel almost lost his sister. Making changes so that any wolf who wants to mate a human has that opportunity is his biggest priority with trying to win her trust back. However for Acksel he doesn't see how the same rules could possibly apply to him. He knows who his wolf wants as a mate, the beautiful but human Brynn, but he knows if he acts on his desire it puts her in danger.
The second in the Wilde Creek series. I liked this one, you can feel how torn Acksel is and in a not so clear moment Acksel acts on his instinct, only to hurt the woman who should be his mate. The story also introduces what could possibly be the next book which I am very excited about.
Once again R.e has made an amazing job at giving us another story for the Wild Creek series.
i love Aksel...a prick non the less but i love him
and Brynn is the perfect match for him...suits him right for all he done to her.
As the story progresses you can see the stupid pricky alpha becoming the caring and loving man and the timid shy human becoming the she bitch she needs to be to face the pack.
i really can't wait for the next book in this series!!!
I loved the Alpha and his human mate. He was all man and had no hesitation in protecting his mate. She was a classy lady who did not settle for less than what she deserves.
It’s not that I hated it but it kept running on and on. Also Acksel from his sister book he was a total a$$hole towards his sister and her loving a human since she was young, but he in faceted fell for a human girl in elementary school when he was a weak kid and knew he could and won’t have feelings for Brynn because he did even after becoming alpha. The same feelings he had so did Brynn but she also kept it to her self until the night (his drunken night in his sisters book is the second chapter in this book) he is so drunk and bed Brynn and runs away in the middle of the night leaving something behind that will become a target for the banished males ( from Eveny story) that will find a way to take Acksel down and for one of them to become the new alpha. Will Ackles get to her in time or will the she wolves get to fight for their position as alpha female along side Acksel.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ - I LOVE THIS AUTHOR!! Acksel's emotional turmoil as he struggles with his feelings for Brynn Mara is both relatable and heart-wrenching. The story of his past mistakes and the painful consequences of abandoning Brynn adds depth to the romance. Brynn's resilience in the face of Acksel’s distancing actions is endearing. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the drama involving a surprise twist with the worst kind of enemies makes the stakes feel incredibly high. The overall romance is touching and sweet, showing that love can overcome even the most difficult of challenges. The inclusion of a surprise twist adds excitement, making this a well-rounded and engaging read for fans of both romance and action.
Acksel spends the first half being as completely unlikeable as he was in book one. Never really redeems himself, though I didn’t end up hating him as much. Brynn is the typical heroine who is treated like dirt but forgives every wrong within five minutes. The fact she puts up with all the she wolves, many of whom have had sex with Acksel, giving her crap for ages before putting them in their place, shows she is not that strong of an alpha female. She needed external items to do it too. Other characters are introduced to continue this series. Read and reviewed a long time ago but can only be read in the box set now.
I really enjoyed this book because it have us a lot more history then the first one did about the pack and laws. Bryann and Acksel were a perfect match and I loved seeing Acksel prove it too her. Bryann wasn’t weak and she proved that over and over again. I love that some of the main drama was over sooner then later and we got to see them grow as a couple and be happy. It didn’t just end once the major drama was over. I do look forward to reading more. 4 Stars #2OCCJD
The Alpha's Heart is book 2 in the Wilde Creek series. It really should be read after the first book or you'll miss a chunk of the story. This is Eveny's brother's book.
Acksel was a right jerk in the last book, so really this was his redemption story, and it was fairly well done. Drunk to the point of stumbling after he fixes the mess with his sister and wallowing in misery because of his royal screw up, he winds up sleeping with a woman he's had a crush on since school and manages to get her pregnant. Since Brynn is human, he runs away from her to protect her (not knowing she's pregnant) and proceeds to ignore her. His wolf has other ideas and slowly drives him to the brink.
Their story is full of family and pack drama, misunderstandings of their own makings, forgiveness, steamy fun times, humans proving they can be strong, and the power of forgiveness and inclusiveness. It was a great followup to the last book and I'm happy Acksel resolved his issues.
This is a well written story with great characters. I would encourage everyone to go get this one it is worth your time. This is one is a good shifter story, and it shows people can change. Go get this one and enjoy.
A great read good world building. Got a long winded and it got in way of a story. I keep coming back to back to it, but when it finally got to the end, it was great and I’m reading a bundle, so good for that. Thank you so much.
A standard fates mates. I did appreciate that there was no instant forgiveness. But I found the sudden acceptance of violence as a way to dominate a bit of a stretch.
No, just no! In the first book he was an ass, then his mate was the ass. I mean, come on, she knew he loved her and she loved him, but just enjoyed being courted. And it was all so repetitive...
