I loved how you get to see the characters, Jackson and Mel, from childhood through adulthood. The love they have for one another. The fight to keep that love. It truly is a great book! If I could I would give it 10stars!!!! If you are looking for a book that doesn't have any slow spots and keeps you wanting more. This is the book! Thanks Elle!

This is the first book I read by Elle Bright, and it will not be the last! So the name of the book made me think this book would be straight up something about lady luck and Vegas, but it's not. So don't let the title fool you, because it did me. Not it an upsetting way either.

"It was dark and emotional. Beautiful and mesmerizing. Full of life and love."

This is a straight stand-alone with no cliffhanger: My favorite! Melody Davis and Jackson "Black Jack" Blackner have been besties since elementary school when Jackson stood up for Melody when she was put through some brutal bullying. Years go by and Jackson becomes a hit rockstar and his friendship with Melody is cut off drastically when Jackson brutally murders his stepfather.

So here we are eight years later and Mel is working in the same hotel that Black Jack, Jackson's band, is staying at. OR more like destroying. After she's fired for not controlling the issue of Black Jack destroying their hotel room, a now strung out Jackson hires Melody to be his manager. But her one condition is he stops the drugs, so now it's really up to Jackson to keep himself straight.

I overly enjoyed the entire plot of this book. But I do have some complaints about it. I felt like the book was a bit rushed. It would have been nice to build up more about the characters feelings toward each other. Mel basically forgives Jackson, and I was like Make that man grovel! I also wish their would have been more character development. I would have liked to see Jackson's road to recovery.

Overall, I think this is a wonderful book so I'm giving it 4 STARS out of 5 STARS. I cannot wait to see what else author Elle Bright has for us!

This is one awesome shortish read, the characters are very well developed and the plot really draws you in from start to finish.

I loved how we start off in the story where Mel and Jackson are young, there first encounters together and we follow the friendship they build together.
Then we get the moment where the friends are separated because of terrible circumstances, then the moment that brings them together again after a long 8 year separation.

Jackson is living the true stereotypical bad boy rocker life style, the destroying hotel property, the drugs, the women, when he and Melody meet again. Melody can no longer see the boy who was her best friend, the boy she loved.

As the story unfolds Mel sees the kind hearted boy she grew up with return to her in small increments. Jackson sees the girl he has always loved but pushed away.
Even though Jackson has this bad boy exterior the sex scenes are tender and romantic, i liked that about there relationship, after all this is the girl her grew up with and fell in love with when he was a child i felt it was nice that he didnt treat Mel like the other hook ups he usually has.

The secondary characters are really good the back the story well and keep the plot flowing.
Over all another fantastic book from the wonderful Elle Bright i love this author so much.

When an author writes a story, a little bit of their heart and soul is put on display. Elle Bright is no exception and the characters within Ace of Spades reflect what a beautiful soul she has.

Ace of Spades by Elle Bright outlines the lives of two troubled children who find friendship and strength in one another to get through life and strive for their dreams despite the cruelty of others. As they get to the cusp of adulthood, certain events unfold to tear them apart, just as they begin to realise how deep their feelings for each other goes. Now, several years later, they need to contend with the destructive lifestyle of a rockstar as well as their own heartbreak if they are ever to become a couple.

Elle Bright breathes new life into an often used storyline, giving it's characters depth and tangible emotions. The real strength of this book is in the first half of the story. I loved Elle's introduction to the characters and the history they had together. It allowed me to empathise with them very quickly and drew me into the story completely.

Melody is a quiet, tender child who grows into a beautiful woman who fails to see that she undervalues herself when it comes to relationships. She is perhaps a little naive, due to being so honest and kind hearted herself, that she doesn't see the flaws and secrets others cover up. Melody is very easy to like, and it isn't hard to imagine her being someone you may have encountered in your life.

Jackson is sweet, sensitive, funny, talented... and a complete mess. Elle has very successfully written a book about a realistic man who needs the love of a good woman to overcome his demons. You will fall in love with Jackson despite his choices and maybe a little bit because of them.

Once again, Elle's prose is exquisite. She has such a beautiful way with words that makes it very hard to stop reading even for a second. This makes this book an easy read and one that you can devour quickly.

I, admittedly, felt that there could have been another paragraph inserted closer to the end of the book to really get the tears flowing and to draw out the anguish of disappointment, but that is for purely selfish reasons, and the story doesn't lose anything by it not being there.

Overall the story is enjoyable, mainly due to the characters and the wonderful way the author tells the story.

Enjoyable short read, gotta love the bad boy rocker...

The Ace of Spades by Elle Bright follows the story of a bad boy rocker Jackson and his love for his childhood sweetheart Melody. When something bad happens in Jackson's life he tells Melody to move on with her life and find happiness elsewhere.

His love for Melody stays with him and its eight years before they find each other again. Jackson is determined to win her back but Melody has moved on with her life, in which she is comfortable and happy.

This book did not disappoint, but if you are looking for a steamy read this isn't for you. The book is more about the love they have for each other and what happened in their past, present and future. The character development for a short book was quite good.

I really liked this book, it's a short read but I found it hard to put down. I give this book 4 stars and would recommend it to those who like a quick read.

I give this tale of friendship *6* Stars!!! When you find your soul mate even at a young age nothing and I mean NOTHING can keep you away. Even when your other half is the one pushing you away. Jackson the ultimate broken bad boy, know that he could never be the person that his Melody needs and deserves. Until that is she makes him understand that no matter the issue no matter the what he has done or suffered she is there for him as a soul mate should be. Beautiful right?
As I am riding in the car reading this heartbreaking story, I have to put on my sunglasses not to shield the sun from my eyes. But to hide the fact that I am crying. The moment he gives into his demons and decides to lie to Melody my heart broke. Then again when he does the unthinkable and she has to walk away to prove how much she loves him. * give me a minute*
Needless to say that this story will tug at your heart strings and play a beautiful sorrowful song. But with every great concert it leaves you wanting more. I can't wait to read more of Elle bright books. Maybe some more of Jackson and Melody?

For every girl who has fallen in love with her best friend or a rockstar...you get both!!!

This romance is believable because it involves turning a deep, long-term friendship into something more, yet it is extra dreamy because her best friend becomes a rock star -- and what girl hasn't crushed on a rock star?! The struggle with drugs that Black Jack faces adds another element of reality. Many rock stars/other celebrities have drug problems and nobody willing to step up and tell them no. They tumble down in a destructive cycle. This is where Mel comes in.

Mel is drawn into Black Jack's world after their friendship had been estranged for years (due to events I won't reveal here). Mel puts her foot down out of love and both of their worlds are caught in a whirlwind!

I love the pacing of this book. Every page kept me wanting more.

My biggest gripe is that I don't have a Jackson Blackner!

I wanted to read this as I was drawn in by bad boy rocker. It wasn't what I expected, but I enjoyed it. The story starts when Mel and Jack are eight years old and both outsiders. It follows them over the ensuing years and brings them together again after a long separation.

When Mel first meets Jack again he really is the stereotypical bad boy - sex, drugs and rock and roll.

The only thing I didn't enjoy in the book were the sex scenes, they sounded more like a Mills and Boon romance than a rock star book, but I did like the rest of the story.

There are some interesting side characters in the book, some hell yeah moments, sad moments and sweet moments.

It's a pleasant evenings read.

I loved this book! I would've liked for it to have been longer, but don't feel as though the length took away from the story. I liked the characters a lot. They were well developed and relatable. I definitely want more of Jackson and Melody.

This book started out okay but very quickly went downhill becoming a predictable, unimaginitive romance. The characters were flat, the plot twists expected, and the final resolution yawn inducing.
