First of all; how many typos can one book have? I'm no expert and spelling mistakes are fine in a first or second draft but so many in a published book? Who was in charge of proofreading?!
here is also a problem with the writing in general. I remember one sentence, it was something like: "She felt hot and surprised and worried and nervous and turned on and helpless." Honestly, reading it reminded me of a little child listing all the things that happened. It was a bad use of language.
Secondly; the story is a bore. It takes about 10 chapters until the main characters finally interact! I don't mind giving each of them a background and depth to understand them better but this was too much.
The other problem was just with the whole story in general. I didn't like it. I can't pinpoint one moment that just ruined it, it was just a general dislike of the entire story. It's just too good to be true and not realistic at all.
Took some getting into but it turned out Ok in the end. A little out of the ordinary when it comes to Billionaire’s finding love but then Shane had been fighting that particular title almost his whole life and with the help of the bottom of a bottle, he had been managing to drink his life into a series of momentary lapses for years. The story lays a lot on the line with regards to Shane – much of the initial chapters focus on his plight and the fact that he is almost never sober enough to know what is real and what is not. Finally making his way to the bottom of the barrel, Shane is beaten by some thugs and eventually rescued from the local hospital by his uncle Arthur. Deposited in a Rehab centre, Shane encounters Olivia – a counsellor and while we know a lot about Shane, his love of poetry, his rebellion, his drinking and his tattoo’s. Olivia on the other hand appears to a fairly unremarkable individual. I don’t say that to demean her, she is so sweet and caring that she should be the consummate professional but all of that goes straight out of the window the minute and I do mean the minute she lays eyes on Shane. Her feelings for Shane are primal, despite the fact that she knows that she shouldn’t have a relationship with a patient, they are just so right together that neither hell nor high water can keep them apart. Faced with Shane’s status catching up with him at the pen of a hack reporter they fall into the most almighty of lies when Olivia claims to be Shane’s Fiancée. Back they go to the family home and into the fold so to speak –only they have more issues than vogue and the reunion between Shane and his brother Hunter is explosive. Shane’s mother is initially demonic to Olivia but as time passes she helps to get the whole family back on track and helps to rebuild their relationships. Opening up to one and other they learn that their uncle is taking the family business into a union that is against everything that they stand for. Between Shane and Olivia they pull the rug out from under him, scuppering his plans and bringing forth his true nature – which ultimately sees him getting a punch in the face from Shane’s mother – You Go Girl!!! The story is well described but I found the language a little outdated in some of the sex scenes. I found it almost impossible to imagine those words being said in those situations. But each to their own! Take your time and give it a chance, it is a bit of a slow burner but overall a good read
Olivia is a counselor at a rehab center. She has been through a lot in her life and her mom passes away. Shane is an alcoholic he drinks for a living and wants to forget his life. He gets beat up in a fight and ends up in the hospital. His uncle Arthur put him in this rehab center where he meets Olivia. She is his counselor. She feels the attraction instantly and fights it off. Shane just want to get out and drink until her meets her and now has something in his life to love for. His roommate Rawls needs help writing his paper for his final so Shane offers to help. They went outside and was ambushed by a reporter. They made up a lie to tell him and now they aw going to have to follow it through or go wht the real story... They go and meet his family but will they approve of this situation or will they never forgive him?
Free download, this was a nice read about a very serious issue, Shane is an alcoholic who hasn't seen his family in years. He's hidden himself away so nobody knows who he is, but after an incident where he ends up in hospital Shane checks into a rehab facility where he meets Olivia a councillor with her owns issues, after an abusive relationship and a mother in hospice their connection is instant, placing both of them in a difficult position. This starts with a sad message about how difficult life can be and how we hit rock bottom before we start to rise again, meeting the right person can save you regardless of your circumstances. I enjoyed the story and plot it was different with a positive message, it had some sexy love scenes and sweet moments but you also have the angst care of Shane's family. Ultimately a HEA is nice and would I recommend.
I enjoyed reading this story. I was drawn in from the beginning and wanted to see how the book would end. This story is about a broken man who goes Ingo hiding from his life and needs to be healed. A romance that wasn't intended but happens. A counselor who helps others wasn't expecting to fall in love.
There are different emotions that you will have and may even want to punch some people :-) I believe the author did a good job on the story and was happy at the ending. Great job author.
I thought this was very disappointing. I borrowed it free from Amazon Prime and over paid.
Completely underdeveloped - story, characters, the chemistry between Shane and Olivia. One minute they're in therapy, the next they were breaking all sorts of patient-client laws having sex and making out. The chemistry was completely unbelievable and just not there.
And the book was FILLED with typos! Needs to be re-edited!
I really liked this book and was also a little frustrated by it. It was slow and to worry in some parts then sped thru others. It ended up being a typical "girl meets billionaire and they fall in love" when it wanted to be so much deeper. All in all, I read it and liked it enough to finish.
The story seemed as though it was fast. It was good. I enjoyed it but I couldn't really get into it. Shane finally lands in rehab and the recovery seems a little fast. He meets Olivia and their connection just doesn't seem real. One thing leads to another and their love is forever and Shane stays sober.
Enjoyed the story, Shane's recovery from addiction seemed a little rushed. It was mentioned a good bit about avoiding relationships for a year, yet with in a short period of time it became a physical relationship and then marraige. The basic story was great and realistic. Shane's addiction was never blamed on any one thing like most books tend to do.
I just started reading this book. There is a typo on the FIRST PAGE! How does that even happen!? It's pretty rough so far. I am going to try to give it another chapters worth of my time, but i do not have much hope...
Found this very hard going at first. Three times I was going to give up as it dragged on and didn't really go anyway. But purseveered and It picked up around 40% in. Would have given it a 2 star had it not get a bit better towards the end.
A dark love story. I felt it kept my interest and most of the typos must have been fixed but I wasn't a huge fan of the story. It was too hard to get over a therapist starting a relationship with a patient.
I really like the idea of the author but somehow I think she failed writing it. For the first part it was boring and made want to put it down (but still I kept on reading) and while towards the end the story is rush making the story half cook.
I really enjoyed this fairly quick read and original storyline. Some drama, intrigue and some hot sex along the way. I think the author did a great job describing alcohol addiction and I found this aspect of the story to be interesting and enlightening. I will look for more by this author.
This was my first Heather Chase book and I was quite pleased. Although everything was wrapped up by the end, it didn't seem rushed at all. I will definitely read more by this author in the future.
I don't know about this one and how to rate it. Really didn't know how to feel about it. slow beginning and hard for me to get into the story. I liked the ending
The story jumps one aspect to another. I just find it hard to keep track. I never seen someone fall in love within two days..hmm, a little unbelievable
