What a great book! This is Rachel's debut novel and I have to say it is a fabulous one! This story is well-written with the perfect blend of drama, romance & humor. I did not want to put this book down. It had me laughing, cussing, stressing out and also had moments that made me tear up. I loved the emotions I was able to FEEL throughout the story. And let's not forget the steamy love scenes! I was fanning myself quite a few times. :)

The main characters were amazing! Within the first chapter I was so enamored with Justin that I wanted to put him in my pocket and claim him as my own. I could feel the love. He was very sexy with a little bit of alpha in him that had me swooning often. Lily was a sassy little spitfire who you can't help but connect with and care about.

I highly recommend this well-written, 'feel-good' book. An easy five stars from me. I look forward to reading more from this author!

CARMIE'S REVIEW -

LilyRae left her small town ways behind her the day of high school graduation and headed out for Nashville. Ever since age eleven she’s only wanted to be a country star. She left behind her family and her best friend Justin; she’s never looked back. Sure, she sees her parents once or twice a year and her brothers and their families but she hasn’t set foot that Iowa small town in twelve years.

The shine of stardom has long worn off and her increasing anxiety is making it damn near impossible to continue performing. She methodically sets out to retire while she is on top of her game. She’s made many friends along the way and a few enemies too. For her sanity and health she needs to get away and be a normal person. She wants to have a husband and a family and live everyday life. She doesn’t know if Colton Jefferson, her agent, will respect her wishes or if he will cause trouble.

One of the first people she sees when she gets into town is Justin. Their meeting didn’t go as planned; she thought he’d be happy to see her. And he is, but he is PISSED that she hasn’t kept in touch with him. He’s carried a torched for her all these years and consoled himself with the occasional lady friend but nothing serious.

LilyRae gets accosted at the grocery store one day in town and Justin comes to her rescue. He realizes then the reason she left it all behind. She’s forced into seclusion at her family’s farm until the press frenzy dies down. LilyRae and Justin start spending more time together until they are officially “dating.”

Justin and LilyRae have normal couple issues to work through. He’s a little too alpha for her taste and she’s not shy about letting him know. What Justin doesn’t know is that LilyRae had a very bad experience in Nashville. LilyRae hasn’t told Justin or her family the truth about her bad experience – the only person who knows is her friend and manager, Sarah – but Sarah doesn’t know who the man is question was.

LilyRae gets talked into doing a performance for their small town fair and when Colton catches wind of it he threatens to arrange an accident for LilyRae’s family is she doesn’t meet him after her performance. I don’t want to spoil the book for you – so you’ll have to read it to get all the juicy details that I don’t mention.

I will tell you this is a must read for those country fans out there. It was a thoroughly enjoy read and a great look at small town life. The author did a great job with the characters, their chemistry and the family dynamics.

Recently I had been hoping to find a book that I "just can't put down." Despite the fact that I read a lot, I rarely feel that way about the books I read and I wanted to find something that really drew me in. This book certainly did the trick! I'm not sure I've ever read a book as fast as I devoured this one.

I occasionally read fiction, but never romantic fiction. I (reluctantly) may have discovered a new favorite genre. Home by Rachel Smith is a romance novel, but it also has a rich story line that builds in suspense as the book goes on and keeps you guessing until the very end.

If you're a woman (and/or a fan of romantic fiction), I highly recommend this book with one disclaimer - if this book were a movie, it would be rated R for language and sexual content (4 scenes, I believe). If these things offend you, this may not be the book for you.

This book was a delightful read... fantastic story!

I always scoop up the celebrity romance novels first, they are my bread and butter, and this book by Rachel Smith did not disappoint. The characters were instantly likeable-- soulful, endearing and realistic. This was a great twist on celebrity fame - wrapped up with all the good, the bad and the very ugly that comes with that lifestyle.

Our leading man, Justin, delivers some swoon worthy moments. He is probably the dreamiest country boy next door your momma would approve of served with a side of just enough alpha hotness.

Our heroine, Lillian, has her moments of stubbornness and sweetness. What I liked most about her character is seeing how she developed through the story. Coming back home after being in the spotlight for so long -- how do you come back and be "just normal?" Smith did an excellent job bringing that to life.

Home was well-written. I loved the flashbacks which flowed seamlessly and were woven intricately throughout as the story progressed.

I look forward to reading more from this author.

Home by Rachel Smith is the one to be reading right now! The romance the suspense, the page turning will have you up all night and sneaking in a quick read wherever you by be. The author did a fantastic job in writing this book. The characters touch home in so many ways. You will love and hate them at times but they will catch you from the beginning and won’t let you go. The family bond is amazing in this story, and to learn the one thing, your dream, is what you want but realize it may not be what you need. The love between two best friends is priceless and once in a life time experience. I strongly recommend this book to read!

Review originally posted at Ramblings From This Chick

I will admit that I was a little unsure about this book when I first started it. The blurb sounded so good, but with it being Rachel Smith's debut novel I didn't know what I was in for. With a debut novel, there is always the risk that the story won't live up to the promise of the blurb. I was pleasantly surprised with Home though. It was so good, and honestly it felt nothing like a debut novel. Home was better than I ever could have expected. The story was solid, the characters likable, and I was invested right from the start. I really loved Rachel Smith's writing style, and I thought that the pacing was great. I absolutely cannot wait to see what else Rachel Smith writes in the future.

Lillian Raftzen always loved to sing. She was determined to make it her career even at the young age of eleven. The only person that really believed in her was her best friend Justin DeLuca. So the day she graduated, she packed her car and took off for Nashville. Twelve years later, she has everything that she always dreamed of. She is a huge star, but things aren't as she imagined they would be. She no longer recognizes the Lily she used to be and decides to leave the business behind and head home. When she arrives home, not everyone is happy about her decision to leave her music career behind though. Lily and Justin get off on the wrong foot, and they both realize that they are not who they used to be. But they both still care deeply for each other and decide to get to know the people that they are now. Can Justin and Lily find a new dream together? And what happens when Lily's life becomes threatened as a result of her leaving her music career behind?

I really liked Justin. He was so sweet and supportive of Lily. I loved that he always believed in her and encouraged her. He stood up for her every time and was really protective of her. He definitely had his alpha moments, but he really cared about her and you could tell that it was always love that motivated him. He was also really sexy, and I loved that he wasn't afraid to tell Lily how he was feeling. He knew that this was his second chance and he wasn't willing to waste time. Lily was strong and determined and had been through so much. She really kept so much to herself and you could tell that she struggled because of it. She was afraid to be vulnerable, and with very good reason. It was really great to see her start to open herself up to Justin though and begin to heal and move forward. Lily and Justin had so much history together and they had a bond that was undeniable. They were always meant to be together, and it was clear from the start. They also had great chemistry together, and I liked that they took things a bit slower and got to know each other again. They were perfect for each other and you could really feel the attraction between them.

Overall, this story was fantastic. It drew me in and I didn't want to put this one down for anything. It was sweet and sexy and had a really great story of finding out that sometimes life has a different and better plan for us that we never expected. This story had some absolutely heartbreaking things that happened, but it was also filled with hope and showed that we can overcome even the most painful things. I really liked seeing the journey of Lily and how she and Justin found their way back to each other. I loved everything about this story, and I will say that there was a twist that I absolutely didn't see coming. This story is definitely one that I will be re-reading in the future, and I highly recommend this book. I really think that this book is one that all romance fans will really enjoy. Lily and Justin are so easy to fall in love with and are characters that I will always remember. I really look forward to seeing more from Rachel Smith and I can't wait to see what she writes next.

HOLY WOW 5 STARS

This book was fantastic !! I was hooked form the prologue since I am a sucker for the childhood love , I had hoped it would go that way learning of Justin and Lily's friendship. Of course I was not disappointed !!

I was proud of Lily for taking off to chase her dreams right after high school , not everyone can be that brave. Of course in that business you very rarely end up in the hands of anyone respectable , and for poor Lily she wound up with the worlds biggest slime ball ever , Colton. For years Lily rose to stardom and enjoyed living in the fast lane preforming for her fans and making a name for herself. Colton never letting her forget it was him who gave her the life and it would be him to take it away if he wanted to. After years of dealing with his control issues there is a major situation that changes their dynamic forever. Lily does not talk openly of this and we read bits and pieces of it from her memories. This is not the final straw for her but once it becomes too much she realizes this is no longer her dream , her dream is to go home and start a family and live a normal life. She sets the plans in motion to walk away from her fame and go home. Her best friend ,PA,Sarah stands behind her and though she will miss her, lets her go home and start her life again.

Justin had me from his little speech about the girl that left 12 years ago !! Oh my SWOON !! Of course she would run into him on her first day back and he would be all grown up and manly !! Hot as sin and a hard worker on top of it all. Justin has been in love with Lily for years and has basically been waiting for her to come home so they can be together. Lily has no clue about Justin's feelings but is starting to realize she has deeper feelings for him. Once Justin confesses they decide to be together and build a relationship FINALLY after all these years. Lily has a very supportive and loving family , this was a great calm in the book , I should have known I was in for a ride !!

Sarah comes to visit and blows Lily's happiness apart with her revelations about Colton. He is not happy and who knows what he may do. Lily calls to confront him and it does not go well. Deciding to inform her family and Justin about Colton ends in her being whisked away to Justin's and her brothers and fathers on constant watch of her. The whole story takes a horrible turn during Lily's performance in town. That is where I will end my review !!

I loved this book , just enough drama and love , not to mention the hot sex !! Lily and Justin are beautiful together , I love everything about their characters. Be prepared for a wild ride and though it seems tame this book is anything but. The issues Lily deals with are very real life and devastating to read about. The story is well written and I am definitely a fan of Rachel Smith !!

As an avid reader I enjoy a variety of genres and am always looking for new authors and new series to get hooked on. Guess what? I found another one and the author lives almost next door! How amazing is that?

"Home" is a refreshingly wonderful romantic story with just the right amount of mystery and twists and turns to make it unpredicatable and entertaining from beginning to finish. Lily Rae, a country singer at the top of the charts unexpectedly gives up her lucrative career and moves back home to the family farm in Iowa. The circumstances surrounding her "retirement" from the spotlight take everyone by surprise including her best friend from her high school days. Adjusting to the simpler life in Glenview has highs and lows and Lily Rae finds herself not only trying to shake the things from her past that threatened her, she also finds herself dealing with emotions and feelings that had been long buried.

The author is so talented at crafting a novel that begs to not be put down, if even for a second. I read this on vacation and found myself wishing I could sequester myself away from my family activities for just a couple hours so I could find out what happens to Lily Rae! That is a sign of a good read for me and this book did not disappoint. The words were well crafted and thought out and it was evident that a lot of time was spent on editing and making sure the story was just right. I always appreciate that in a book and especially with a first time author---it shows a great deal of passion and awareness to the craft.

I do not generally gravitate towards romances but in this case Rachel Smith has a convert and a loyal follower of her future novels. I am thrilled that I have had the privilege to meet her "in real life" and look forward to many more chats together and dinners or cups of coffee shared . I truly believe that she understands what "home" is and was able to portray it vividly in this debut novel. Hats off and keep 'em coming, please!!!!

About the book- ratings for one

The reveals that shocked me 5+
So the story of Lily reminds us that in Hollywood things are as crazy as they seem, right? OK well apparently in country music things are nutso too! When Lily takes off she is determined to get to Nashville from Iowa and never look back. She repeats her mantra over and over basically whatever it takes is what this feisty recent graduate is going to do. I am ready for the ride.

The story of Lillian's time in Nashville was unbelievable. She meets an RCA executive, Colton, and he seems like an angel. Under it all he is so evil, manipulative and powerful. He is just pure evil through and through. I loved the way the author wrote Lily having her flashbacks. It was a slow build that was making it hard to put the darn kindle down.

Through everything Sarah, who is a wanna be country music singer, and Lily grow close. Lily starts on the staircase leading to fame with Sarah by her side. Sarah is her confidant, personal assistant and therapist!

When Lily has an epiphany she gives up singing and goes home. All of this causes a big problem for Colton. No spoilers but I will say he was addicted to having a puppet to control and money in the bank.

When Justin sees Lily the first time you know what will happen. Their story was great! It is one to be enjoyed! I understand they wanted and needed one another so the way it was portrayed was nice. The didnt go overboard with the longing to be together. I hope that makes sense.

I really loved this book! The author has written a romance with a lot of dark circumstances. I like dark so when evil comes knocking I was rooting for the entire Raftzen family. A true tight knit group that make you want to go to Glenview!

Home is a great book that puts twist on fame and success. Lily Rae always wanted to be a famous country musician. It is her dream since she was a little girl. The grass is always green ever on the other side, because when Lily finally gets her dream, she realizes it is not what it is cracked up to be.
After 10 years in the business, Lily decides she has had enough and wants to more home to small town America. She wants to be near her family and friends again and live a life where people don't steal your clothes and sell them online. She wants to be back on the farm. Living the life she has always known.

Being home again makes her realize all she has missed out. On things like having a family of her own and seeing her nieces and nephews grow up. When he childhood friend Justin comes back into her life, things are very different. There is some real intense feelings that have been buried by Justin for many years. He has always been in love with Lily and now wants to finally make his move. But Lily doesn't come home without some major baggage. She has been involved with a sleazy record label honcho that has been messing with her mind. He was the one to discover her and he is not happy she left the business. He is going to make her life pure hell since she is not making him money. Plus Lily has secrets she would like to keep buried. Not even her family knows about them. She would like to keep it that way!

The ex brings major drama to the story. Lily life has been made hell because of of his stalkerish ways. This only makes the bond between Lily and Justin stronger.
Home was unlike any other rock star book I have read. Usually the person wants to be rich and famous. Lily just wants to be average again. I liked this book. I really was a fantastic read for me!

I know many people are hesitant to read an author’s debut novel. Me, I actually prefer reading an author’s first book and reading the rest in order. It’s not always possible, but I love to see the maturation of a writer. Some debut novels shout, “This is my first time!” Others I wouldn’t have known, unless I knew beforehand.

Rachel Smith’s Home would have fooled me completely. The only reason I knew that it was her first novel was because a blogging buddy told me about Rachel publishing her first book.

Home is a wonderful romantic suspense novel. From the blurb I didn’t expect the suspense and was pleasantly surprised. Lily Rae, or Lillian Raftzen, is a wonderful character. Her success in country music, on the surface, seems like a dream come true, but behind the scenes, all is not well. What actually happened (I won’t go into details) is the heart of Lillian’s story.

When she goes back home, some question why she walked away from everything. It would be a difficult decision to make, but I admired it. Luckily her family is supportive.

And then there is Justin DeLuca. He’s a macho man who is quite good looking. But there’s more. He has supported Lily all of her life and when she walks back into his life he’s determined to tell her how he feels. It’s great to have a male in a romance novel with a nice blend of macho, sex appeal, and compassion.

I enjoyed that the characters aren’t one-dimensional. All of them have flaws. Yet they recognize their flaws and aim to grow. Do they succeed?

I look forward to reading her next book. Hopefully the wait isn’t too long.

I was provide a copy of the book by the Author for an honest review.

Wow I just finish reading this book, and I love it this is romantic story, that's have some mystery and twists, I love the characters and love the way the book turn out to be, I am gone keep this short and sweet since I don't want to give anything away.

Lily is a famous country music, she's on the top of the chart, after having her dreams come true, she start to see that its not what she though it would be, for the last ten years she's being on the business, now she wants to move back home, she wants to be close to her family and friends, now that Lily is home, she gets to see everything that she has being missing, and its spending time with her family and seen her nephew and nieces grow up, when her childhood friend Justin, come back to see her everything start to change, Justin had always being in love with Lily, but Lily has being through some stuff, and has some secret that she don't want out, but Justin don't care he wants Lily, would Lily put everything behind and cave in or would she let her past to get in the in way.

I really love and enjoy reading this book, that now I am so ready for the second book, Author Rachel Smith THANK YOU for introducing me to this awesome characters and this amazing book love it.

Rachel Smith captured me in the first few pages. I couldn't believe this was only her first novel. She writes with such great detail that you begin to feel like your in Lily Rae's skin. You become Lily. You feel her heartbreak, tears, and laughter as she finds her way back home.

Lillian Raftzen returns home after twelve years of being on top. She has accomplished her dream of being a country music star but has also realized that it isn't what it's cracked up to be. She finds herself struggling to fit into the mold of returning home. Her homecoming isn't as welcome as she'd like.

Justin DeLuca has always love Lillian and had to watch her go after graduation. Even though she left town, she didn't leave his heart. Now that she is back he is determined to keep her safe no matter what the cost is.

I finished this story in one sitting and couldn't put it down. Rachel Smith will draw you and keep you reading with a mix of mystery, suspense, romance, and heartache. As you find out more about Lillian's past as a country music star you'll want to hold in your arms and soothe her. This was a beautiful story and I cannot wait to see more from Rachel Smith!

This is a sweet story about trying to get back what you think you have lost, and facing obstacles along the way. These obstacles come in the form of what is to be expected but also a few which we don't expect.

I love the story behind Lily wanting to rekindle her childhood dreams, but I would really have liked to have read the story about her breaking into the country music business, rather than reading short flashbacks of the odd bit here and there. I would love to read the prequel if the author wrote it in the future.

What Lily goes through is quite traumatic, but she believes it is what had to happen to make her dreams come true. Even once she does go home she has to go through a lot, and that is what made the story for me. I figured out the punch line just before the author delivered it, but it still gave me a wow moment reading it.

This is a good debut story from the author and I look forward to seeing what comes next.

Home is a really good quick read. It's about living your dream and then realizing what you didn't want is exactly what you crave. The grass isn't always greener.
Lillian a small town girl who wants to become a country star and that is exactly what she does. After high school graduation she moves to Nashville to become a country singer. Her rise to stardom happened quickly because of Colton but it comes with a price. Twelve years later she decides this isn't fun anymore and she didn't like the way things turned out and she returns back to her small town in Iowa. Will Lily's reason for leaving the industry follow her and can she live her small town life after super stardom?

Thank you Rachel Smith. I read a lot of fiction (a lot of YA fiction due to reading what my daughters read) and this is NOT my daughter's book! But I do not read a lot of romance....this is SO much more than romance. The characters are real and inviting, the story captured me from the start and I could NOT put it down! I hate to say it but I really enjoyed the "romance" part of the book (I may even have to re-read it on my upcoming trip with my husband). But that isn't what the book is all about. I had to know what was going to happen with Lilly and Justin! Thank you. Follow your dreams....great message.

I absolutely loved this book! The way the characters were written and the flow of the writing made it impossible to avoid getting sucked into the story. I felt the emotion of each character and could clearly see this story as Rachel Smith expertly laid it out in front of me. I cried, I laughed, I yelled....I fell in love with this book! If you are looking for the type of book that makes you sit in your own driveway, car running, reading on your phone for over an hour because you have to find out what happens next (yes, I did that!), I would highly recommend you read this book...Can't wait to read what this author has coming out next!

Home is the debut novel from Rachel Smith and a great one at that. Home is a sweet second chance romance with a HEA. It is the story of Lillian/Lily Rae/Lil and her dream to become a country music singer and the road that led her to her new dream/home.

Rachel writes a very believable story that does make you stop and wonder if this is what it's really like in Nashville. For some, I do believe it is unfortunately. She also does a great job of making the transition between her two dreams and pulling it all together.

From the very first page I was hooked! A true page turner! I even let out a few gasps as I read… I also experienced many moments where I had a goofy grin on my face. I was totally transported into this story. I love the way that the author switched points of view so that the reader could understand what both main characters were thinking and feeling… I look forward to reading more by this talented author!

This debut by Rachel Smith hits all the feels. I love stories set in small towns and double points for being set in the Midwest, where I live. Ms. Smith's characters are well-developed and her storyline is multi-leveled with family dynamics, the back story, romance, and the suspense plots intertwining seamlessly.
Justin is a swoon-worthy hero, the boy left behind when the girl of his dreams ran off to Nashville to chase her dream of a singing career. No longer a boy, Justin has worked hard making a life, hoping Lil would return to their hometown and he could claim her heart. His passion runs deep, his foot apparently tastes good as often as it's in his mouth, and he is patience beyond measure.
Twelve years away has worn singer Lilly Rae thin. People manipulating and taking advantage of her has taken it's toll, so she carefully plans to extricate herself from her celebrity life and go home to Iowa. Once she returns to the open arms of her family, it doesn't take long for Justin's arms to welcome her as well. The couple fight and fuss a lot, trying to establish a new norm in their once close relationship, but when a threat from the past comes knocking, friends and family alike rally around Lil. Their journey is not without the proverbial potholes in the road. Ms. Smith weaves a beautiful story of love, loyalty, and family—strong small-town, Midwest values. I strongly recommend this

Megan's Review

I normally don't choose to read this type of novel. I love a good Rock Star read, but for some reason these 'country' stars don't really grab me. But there was something about the blurb that I wanted to see what this was about. I think because this was after the stardom and Lil going back to her roots. So I had really high hopes for it.

I can't say I hated it, but I didn't OMG LOVE it. I was very wishy washy with the female lead. There was just something about her that, at times I didn't understand her or just plain didn't care. Her internal thinking the most. I liked what she was doing, and why she was doing it though. I liked that she decided she wasn't happy and wanted to make a change and did what was needed to be done with logical thinking for her team. What I wanted was to get to Justin. I love my leading men and by the prologue and his support to Lil, I was ready for him.

Lil wanted to be a star for as long as she's been a live and she's had the same goal in mind. She decided that she would do anything to get her name in the Nashville lights. We learn that she's done just that. With her icky manager Colton that I despised instantly. I don't know if it's because the book is written so timely fast or that he really is just that type of person who quickly shows his cards. (You learn quickly which is true)

"Come home with me tonight." he whispered between kisses. "Please."

"Answer me baby, yes or no."

Whatever it takes.

"Yes."

The side plot was just an ok addition to me. I didn't like Colton and knew what his game was. I just wanted to focus on Justin and Lil!!! I'm greedy!! I did not care for the way this was set up in the book. Sometimes the flash backs weren't so continual to what Lil was thinking. They really messed with the flow of what was currently happening. I would rather you start at the beginning and tell the full story. I actually skimmed many of these flashbacks.

Home is about just what the title says. No secrets, no hidden meaning.

HOME- Going home, finding home, being home. Happy at home.

It's about following your dreams and knowing when enough is enough. Knowing the only thing that matters is home and who is there waiting for you. Your family. Your loved ones. Those special people who are the most dearest to you. It's about going home to find things are exactly the same as you left. And, how things are so very different. How people are different. How you are treated years later.

Overall it was an decent read that at times I enjoyed. Lil's relationship with Justin and Justin himself made me keep reading. I like that he was upfront with her

"You see, about twelve years ago there was a smokin' hot girl in school with this amazing voice. She was my best friend but little did she know that deep down she meant more to me than anything. No other girl compares to her."

What I didn't like was that I really didn't see or feel this big connection with them. I think if there was more given about their childhood and more of them "falling" again as adults I would want to up the rating. I liked Justin's subtle humor. He had a few good ones that actually made me smile big.

"Justin, where are my jeans?"

"Here, I figured they wouldn't be comfortable to sleep in, so I got you covered up and then took them off. It felt wrong to look since you were passed out. But not that you're sitting there open to the world I gotta say babe, sweet panties."

The biggest thing I didn't care for was the flashbacks (gah, I know you are thinking she doesn't like the flashbacks...enough) but it really made me disconnect with the scene when Justin and Lil were together and she'd had a flashback to her new fame and 'friendly agent' Colton. Why put these flashbacks in the middle of a good scene. Put them when she's in the tub going over her life. Don't put them when I'm smiling at Justin and enjoying the reading.

I enjoyed that Justin wasn't falling at her feet and I like that he was upfront with her with what he wanted and what he wanted back. I loved how realistic her parents were living the country life. No matter how old you get, don't think you can drop the f bombs in your parents house!

Such a sweet, heartfelt story. Lily had dreamed of being a famous county music singer since she was little, so after graduation she moved to Nashville to start her career. Before long, she was county music’s next big star. However, her success comes with a price. After 12 years, she has had enough and decides to call it quits and move home. The first person she sees when she comes home is her grandpa. He is so happy she came home. However, not everyone gives her such a warm welcome.
Justin has been in love with Lily his whole life, so when she picks up and moves to Nashville he is devastated. He has always wanted her to be happy, but he thought at some point she would come home and they would be together. In the 12 years she was gone, they only spoke a few times. So when he sees her for the first time, their reunion was less than heartwarming.
Soon they both begin to lower their walls and Justin lets her know that he has always loved her and he has not felt whole with her being gone. Lily begins to realize that she is in love with her best friend, but she is scared to open herself up for heartache. The last time she let someone end, it ended badly and that is putting it mildly. After a while they find themselves in a relationship neither thought would happen. They are both so happy, until news of Lily being in danger puts everyone on edge.
When Lily agrees to do a small show to help her hometown, everyone is well aware of the danger. While Lily’s family and Justin scramble to make sure she is safe, Lily has to come to terms with what has happened in her past. What happened when she first moved to Nashville and met Colton, the music executive. What he did to her, what he is after now. She even wonders if she can escape his greed.
After her show she is forced to talk with Colton and is scared for her life. Is she going to survive? Will Justin ever realize just how much she loves him? Will Lily ever be able to open her heart to Justin fully? You will need to get this book in order to find out. I have to say, that I honestly enjoyed this book from the beginning to the end. I felt such longing and pain Lily that I really wanted her to find her HEA. I wanted her to be with Justin and have a wonderful life. After everything that she has went through in her career, I could easily understand why she wanted out and wanted to come home.
Ah, and how could I not love Justin? He has been her #1 supporter from the beginning and only ever wanted her to be happy. Yes, he would have loved for her to stay home, but he knew she needed to blossom on her own. When she comes back to town, he is overwhelmed by the feelings he has for her. When he tells her how much she means to him, oh man………I couldn’t help but love him more!! This is such a great story about coming back to your roots and realizing what is really important in life. Please, please go get your copy today. I promise you will not be disappointed!

Clichés are clichés for a reason. They're true. "Home is where the heart is" is the epitome of a cliché. And that's what Home (the book) is all about. Going back to the place you love, to the people you love, rediscovering - or even changing - your dreams. Following your heart back to the place you really belong. It's a nice idea and, as someone that lives far from home, one that resonated with me.

Lily Raftzen has been at the top of the country music game for a dozen years but now, it's time to go home. After living her dream - and discovering it's not all it's cracked up to be - all she wants is to be left alone, to get control of her life back and to be with her family and her best friend since childhood, Justin DeLuca.

Justin has been waiting 12 years for the girl he loves to come home. Now she's back and he's prepared to do whatever it takes to keep her with him always - and with her life threatened, that's not so easy.

There's an easiness to Home that I truly enjoyed. Yes, there was mystery. Yes, there was a twist. And yes, there was some sadness. But it was still what I'd call a "summer" read. It's light - nothing too taxing or depressing. Easily read in a few hours (preferably on a beach, cocktail in hand), with a few smiles along the way.

Lily and Justin are a good pair. Their shared history is only briefly touched on but you can tell there's something there from the way they are together. The flashbacks to Lily's life as Lily Rae, country star, give flesh to the story and fuel to the central mystery. There are secondary characters that can, and likely will, have their own stories told. If they are anything like Home, I'd like to read those stories.

This is a standalone book, no cliffhanger.

Home was a fun little story with some suspense elements thrown in. After being told her entire childhood she'd never make it as a country star, Lillian leave home for Nashville to make her dreams come through. She's discovered almost immediately and so begins her road to super stardom. Her dreams have all come true, but not without a price, she's fed up with the life she thought she wanted and just wants to go back Home.

Justin has loved Lillian as long as he can remember, but Lily Rae is not the girl he knew. When she waltzes back in to town, can he put aside his anger at her leaving or have they just grown too far apart?

I have to say that this book wasn't may favorite. I didn't love it, I liked it. I had a really hard time establishing a connection to these characters. While it wasn't a hit or a miss for me, somewhere in between, there were certain aspects of the story that were good and parts I did enjoy. Overall, it was a good plot but like I said earlier, I just lacked a connection with the characters.

But trying to become an ordinary citizen was much harder than chasing after her dreams of becoming a singer, not to mention her manipulative ex-agent wouldn’t let her get away that easily.

He waited twelve years for her. Justin DeLuca wanted Lily Rae since they were young, and he allowed her to follow her dreams. When all he wanted was to have a family and managed a farm, Lily wanted to become a star. He let her become one, without even telling her how he felt for her. When she didn’t communicate as much as he wanted her to, it hurt her. So seeing her home, trying to become normal again, his initial reaction was not what she expected. After all, they were best of friends then.

This time, though, he wasn’t going to let her get away. But his alpha-maleness and her aversion with controlling man needs to be addressed first. There was something she needs tell not just Justin, but her family as well as to what really happened with her life, and what went wrong along the way. Why did she quit?

Secrets, betrayals and deception – I thought that was it for HOME until I was in the final chapters that it had kept me on my seat reading one page after the other. Twists that I didn’t see coming, and surprises that broke my heart in the process, some of the characters would surprise you.

Dreams can change, that’s why I loved reading HOME. Not just that the characters came close to my heart or the reality of it hits close to what perhaps happening to some people in the industry – HOME is a story about love that waited patiently, love that sacrificed, and a love that is all consuming it sees beyond the faults. It was a short story that had me up as long as my medicine allowed me to, but it every page was worth it.

Rachel smith has written a beautiful book which makes you stop and think about what you want in life. Our heroine Lilliana always dreamed about becoming a country singer, so at 19 she packed her bags and headed to Nashville and became a star only to findout12 years later it wasn't what she wanted. So Lily decides it's time to go home.

Justin who was her best friend through high school always loved her, no women compared to her and he knows when Lily is back that he only wants her.

But they have a lot of hurdles to jump and Lily want let herself feel because of what has happened to her these last 12 years.

You will find yourself not wanting to put this book down as you follow Lily's and Justin's emotions. You will cry, you will laugh, you will even gasp at some of the thing you read because you never expected the story line. I would rate this book a 4 star and I thank Rachel for this great work.

The support characters are all superb and encourage and ground both our Lily and Justin. Throughout the book.

Careful what you wish for you just might get it. At least in Lili's case it did. When the price became too high she made some changes. A sweet love story about second chances that were not really following first chance, at least not like we are used to. A very emotional story of love, friendship, family and betrayal. Well written by this new author and characters you just want to hug, even the brothers. I am definitely looking forward to more from this author.

This is a debut novel for author Rachel Smith, and I must say, that it is a very good 1st attempt. She is definitely an author to watch for. The characters were all fun and likeable. Well, except Colton, who is a grade A jerk.

I'm a bit back and forth on the rating. I really enjoyed the story line. The author kept the story going at a great pace. It was a quick, fun read. Justin is a great character who delivers some swoon worthy moments, and he is a yummy, country alpha male. I'm not quite sure on my feelings where Lil is concerned. I mostly like her, but there are a few times when she just plain got on my nerves. I wouldn't say she's a brat, but there are times where she is just so freakin' stubborn or immature I wanted to scream. This only happened, oh, maybe 3 or 4 times, so, not really that huge if a deal in the grand scheme of things.

I think that anyone looking for a light, fun contemporary romance will enjoy this story. It is definitely worth the read.

An ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this novel by Rachel Smith. The characters are likeable and there was a great story line! Lily has come back home and decided to leave the famous country music star life after being gone for twelve years. She left her best friend Justin behind all those years ago. And let's just say he's not so happy she's back in town. The author also gave us pieces of the past throughout the book, which I really enjoyed! I think it was done nicely and added to the story while giving us a better glimpse into what Lily went through. This is just an overall really great read! I'm actually pretty surprised this is the author's debut novel!

If you're looking for a new author to read, then I recommend checking out this book by Rachel Smith!

I loved this book! I couldn't put it down. Read it from start to finish in one day! Rachel Smith is a wonderful writer and you will just fall in love with her words. A great book with a twist. This book reminded of the saying The grass isn't always greener on the other side. Lily had high hopes and dreams of becoming a singer. She decides that after graduation she is heading to the big city of Nashville. Does the pressure of the fans and fame get to her? you will have to find out when you pick up your copy to read. Can her old high school friend Colton save her and let her know how much he cares for her. Only time will tell.

I received a copy of this book from the author to read and review with an honest opinion.
