3.5 "Jami's Never Down For The Count" Stars!!

I have to admit that I enjoyed TAPOUT far more than Knockout. While I still didn't like Alyson, I didn't hate her as much in this book. I found her only mildly annoying although pretty much everything I said in my previous review basically stands. Oh and her TSTL moments didn't plague me as much. Or I developed a tolerance. Who the fck knows???

Review for KNOCKOUT: http://bit.ly/2lp0Bvn

I noticed that the author's writing improved with this book. It was far more fluid and descriptive. It was easier to related to the characters and to become immersed and believe in each of their perspectives. Although some of my questions from book one were answered as more of an afterthought, this didn't detract from my overall enjoyment of the story.

In the end, I really loved Jami. He never gave up. He knew who he was and understood his own limitations. I couldn't help but respect and admire his character. He was incredible right to the end and his loyalty knew no bounds. The author created an absolute winner with Jami's character!

Well its no secret that I’m a girl that knows what she likes. I’m a pretty open book (pun intended) and I like my book boyfriends to be tough, badass, brooding, sexy boys that have a hell of a lot of alpha in them. This series by J.C. Valentine about MMA fighters delivers not only wild punches, but a wild and deliciously sexy ride that will leave you thrilled and throbbing all the way to the last word.

We first meet Ally Blake and Jami “The Judge” Weston in Knockout, the first book in this series. Both come from troubled homes and during their childhood, they had to learn to lean on each other. Jami was always Ally’s light at the end of the tunnel - the one she ran to when her home situation threatened to swallow her. After years of being separated, they reunite and before long they are inseparable. Book two picks up right where the first ended off - we the reader are thrust right into the middle of an action packed plot.

Ally and Jami each come with their own set of insecurities and doubts. This definitely is the 3rd main character in the book - doubt is always there, tapping them on the shoulder, peeking over the tabletops at them and at times standing up and shouting its presence for the world to hear. They face obstacle after obstacle as they fumble their way through making a relationship work.

What I loved about this book was the fight that Jami has not only in the ring, but out of the ring as well. He is fiercely protective of Ally, and although he doesn’t admit it - he loves her with everything he has. Ally is a true kind soul, she survived a life of living hell and rose above it - devoting herself to helping other in violent situations. She gives 100% of herself and I love that in a female character. When the two finally let their hearts do the fighting, the passion explodes out of this book. I loved every second of their connection.

It wouldn’t have been an exciting read without some drama to keep things interesting. The threat of Tony Michaels looms like a thick black fog, threatening to bring everything they’ve built crashing down on them. The anticipation and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat, biting my nails and wondering what the outcome would be. When disaster and tragedy do strike, its a complete surprise where it comes from! Hats off to J.C. - a twist I sure didn’t see coming.

This book was well rounded with humor, suspense, sexy dirty MMA fighters (cmon who doesn’t love that??) and romance. One of my fave series so far this year - that Jami, he can judge me and carry out my punishment any day ;)

You ever read a book and do this through almost the entire thing?

Yep, this is one of those...full review to come.

**FULL REVIEW**

“The longer she lay there, alone, the more disconnected she felt—with this place, this room, these people, this lifestyle. She wondered if Jami was a part of it. If the space inside of her that was quickly turning into a gulf between her life and his, if it were a metaphor for the current state of their relationship….She wasn’t having a good time, and that meant that, for the first time, Jami had broken a promise.”

They promised no secrets. It’s an all or nothing kind of thing both know what will happen when that trust is broken…

Except it is.

Jami has kept something from Ally…until the very last minute. Knowing she will be upset and hoping she will understand.

But that’s not the half of it…

Ally has something to tell Jami too. But both find it difficult to share their personal woes at any time, finding excuses to keep things to themselves. Only difference is, Ally is much more understanding.

“Their relationship was fresh, fragile. It hadn’t occurred to her before, but she was coming to realize that the pressure she felt weighing on her wasn’t from her job, her friends, or even being displaced from her apartment, but from her unstable relationship with Jami. She feared that, at any moment, the delicate balance they had struck would shatter.”

And she was correct. Almost.

It’s funny how one person can keep a secret from the other in a relationship, and expect all to be okay when it finally comes out and then turns around and completely overreacts when something is kept from them. Keeping in mind, Jami has a million other things on his plate right now…Ally felt she shouldn’t be one of them. But alas, he finds out she has kept a secret from him in the worst possible way—from the one person who is hell-bent on destroying everything.

“Alyson was beginning to wonder if she should have just walked away in the beginning, never accepted that invitation. If she had, she wouldn’t be feeling like her heart had been ripped from her chest now, but then she wouldn’t have experienced what it felt like to truly love someone.”

Fighting for fun or sport is very different than fighting for life. I know this has seemed to take a huge turn but they go hand-in-hand…Jami is a fighter. Alyson is definitely not, or at least not in the physical sense. That woman will fight for what she believes in, problem is the decisions she makes directly affect not just her but Jami as well. Now, he’s not all innocent. His natural need to protect those he loves does that all on its own…but that can’t be what ultimately determines whether or not he and Ally can survive as a couple.

“Trust me, kid, one day you’ll realize that the only way to do this is to go it alone. What we do, what I did, is nothing short of brutal. It’s mankind at its most basic—cold, hard, and vicious. Trust me when I tell you that there is no place for love in our world.”

But that delicate balance can be achieved…if you want it bad enough.

So, I did not read the first book in this series and I guess I didn’t really need to in order for me to immediately pick up on what happened to get to this point. What I don’t understand is why the author felt the need to break this into two books. While I enjoyed the story, I felt this was a little forced…there wasn’t a strong storyline to warrant an entire book from it, and could have easily worked its way into Knockout.

Please don’t mistake this as a bad thing. Valentine has a beautiful writing style and for me that is half the battle. I just felt that there could’ve been more…or at least different. Jamison is that hot alpha male we all love, Alyson is that sweet do-gooder that he falls for. Both are far from perfect, but they work. I would’ve liked to see what happened with Spencer after he was pretty much written off…and obviously Liv too. I also want to know what comes of the debt, Marco, and of course, Tori and Miles. There were some loose ends considering how little this book was needed and I have a feeling the first book isn’t much different. Maybe I’ll check it out to see how Ally and Jami began but thanks to the detailed and smart writing of the author, I probably never will.

With all that being said, if you loved the first book, you may love this one as well. For me it was not bad but not the best one I’ve ever read either (aside from grammar and style—that was pretty awesome) but I do look forward to more from this author. Her style alone will have me coming back for more.

I absolutely love everything JC Valentine writes. I have read all of her books and they are absolutly not put downable!!

This books concludes the Knockout series and I fell in love with Jami even more. Alyson's trying to help out a client gets her into hot water and instead of being honest with Jami she lies and does not tell him that she has lost her job. Jami finds out and basically kicks Alyson to the curb. This bit of drama is the only glitch in their relationship and due to Alyson getting drunk one night and deciding to pole dance which requires Jami to come to the rescue their relationship is sound. The epilogue is stellar and I am so happy with the ending. I will be a JC Valentine fan for life!!!

Alyson that girl can be shy but she doesn't like others into her and Jami's private business if you get my meaning, and Jami he just wants the world to know Aly's his girl so of course he doesn't care who knows they're having sex, "what? that we were going to have sex?" He took a step toward her. "That I'm going to lay you down on this bed and eff you. All. Night. Long?" I loved his reactions to her texts while he's away, "Jami's response was nothing short of expected. "Are you trying to get someone killed? Because I am this close to flying home right now and kicking the a** of every guy there just for looking at you." The ending was much better in this one as it didn't leave you wanted for more, well maybe more of Olivia and Spencer.

Great Finish. Still disliked Don, after Aly helping them out, he still didn't like her, so there were times when I wanted to throat punch him and do a round-house kick to his face! (LOL )

Loved the ending, i don't know if there is a story about Spencer but would like to read more of what happens to him.

definitely following this author.

This book starts off where the other one ended. Jami and Alyson have been seeing each other and to say that there is a few rough patches is an understatement. There is a lot more drama in this book then the first one. Alyson has decided to bring her job home with her in the form of Victoria and her son Miles. She is helping take them out of the abusive place they was at with Victoria husband Tony. That guy gets on my everlasting last nerve. I mean come on how deceitful can one person actually be. Jami decides to go up to the next weight class and his coach Don is making sure that he is ready for the harder competition.

Let me take a minute to talk about that douche bag Tony. This guy is out to ruin everyone’s lives, and I mean everyone. This guy has no boundaries and will do whatever it takes to make sure he brings hell down on whoever is there to get in his way. He even stoops so low that he gets his opponent hurt by a bookie before their fight was suppose to happen. But you know what they say about karma. Lets just say when he gets his that is a good part. He gets all that he deserves.

Oh let me tell you about another guy that needs his teeth shoved down his throat. Spencer seems like a nice guy but he puts everyone in the group in a position that had me screaming at him. And when you think he is doing the right thing he is screwing up bigger then he did before. But he has what’s coming for him also.

So without giving to much away in the book I think hope that this intrigues you enough that you will be putting them both on your TBR list.

The author did a great job writing these two books. I would and will recommend both of these books to anyone and everyone. As a whole I give the series 5 stars.

I would like to thank Fifty Shades support group and Auther J S Valentine for letting me read Tapout in Exchange for a honest review.

Tap out 2. ( Wayward Figters 2) J c Valentine

Tapout out picks up right where from Knockout left off. So you need to of read book one (Knockout) before you read book2 (Tapout) or you will have no idea what is happening.

There was a lot of loose ends at the end of book one, so luckily we got to find out everything little thing that we we were waiting for.
Ally and Jami still together in book 2 but there problems of running from each other is still there. Book 2 they had a lot to work through and ALOT of trust issues and to go through and work out. They both realised you can't have a healthy relationship no matter how much you love them if there's no trust and you continuously hide things from each other and run away,
There was a lot more drama in book 2 than I felt that was a book 1, but I also felt more really emotions came through in book 2 aswell.
I loved book 1 and book 2 was even better, I love fighter books and J C Valentine has wrote one of the bests fighters series out there.
The connection between them Jami and Ally has been smoking since the start and the author wrote a love story that was just raw!!! Life and love between the 2 characters will never be roses, there always have there fights....but that's them and that's what's makes them interesting.

Another great book by J C Valrntine....a must read in my list of authors,

I am a big fan of J.C. Valentine. I have read all her books but she knocked it out of the park with this series. I read Knockout months ago but to prepare for Tapout I re-read it. Tapout starts right where Knockout ended. If you read Knockout it left you with a big cliff hanger but Tapout clears up all the doubts from knockout. Jami is not ready for a relationship with Ally but as Tap out progress you see that things start to turn into a relationship. Jami career advance towards the title, Tori and miles find there way but they do have some bumps in the road. Tony Michaels is still making there life a living hell but just behind the scenes now. As Jami comes closer to the title you see Ally and him forming a relationship that Don, Jami coach is pushing against. You see all Jami bonds pushed with all around him as Ally bond grows strong. Will Jami win the title, will he beat Tony and claim everything his wanted. Well you will have to read Tap out to find out but J.C. does not disappoint in Tap out!!!

They were each others world, Alyson and Jamison loved each other like no other. As a fighter, Jami knew the time would come when he would have to leave Alyson temporarily and he plans to make sure everything about their relationship is as solid as it should be. That is until a betrayal rocks his world and everything around him comes tumbling down. Jami is left make a decision that could take everything from him.

I have to note I had not read the first book, however I had no problem getting in tuned with the characters. Jami is on one hand tough badass but the other he is a sweetheart and romantic when it comes to Alyson. I thought this was a fantastic read, you are pulled right in from the beginning and are mesmerized by the story with every turn of the page. Definitely going back to read the first book in series.

I was given this book in an ARR for on honest review.

This is a great book. It must be said that it is not a stand alone book. The first in the series Knock Out must be read first, so I did need to download that first to understand the plot of the story. I enjoyed the first book enough to immediately jump into book 2. The struggle between Jami (the hot fighter) and Aly the all too innocent heroine continues in this book. It is an up and down rollercoaster between these two with others standing in their way. There are times that you want to ring both of their necks, but the young to silly things sometimes... Overall the book was very enjoyable. The characters drew you in and in the end made you smile. I would highly recommend this book. It is a quick and heartfelt read.

Love this book!!

I was given this book by the author for an honest review.

Tapout picked up where Knockout left off and I loved this book even more than Knockout.

Jami and Ally are pushed to their limit. Love and friendships are tested. Some survive some don't. Jami learns that even though he fights alone in the ring he is never alone in life. Ally pays the price for caring too much about her clients.

I cried, laughed, got super mad at some people and loved some even more than before. Sad to see the end of Jami and Ally's story but hope to see more of some of the others in the future.

This is a great book that I would recommend to anyone who loves a great MMA love story!!

I felt so many emotions while reading it and could not put it down until I finished it. Storyline was well written and intriguing. Jami and Ally’s love was so heartfelt, intense & hot. ****** I have received this ARC for an honest review****

this was the 1st Series I have read from this author and I wasn’t sure what to expect. She did a wonderful job with the characters and the flow of the story. Not sure if the author has a 3rd book in the future for Liv.

This series has delivered everything it said it would and more. I have fallen in love with Ally and Jami.

***Must add to your To Be Read (TBR) list of books, you will not be disappointed *** I recommend you purchase this series. This is something that I will be reading again in the future.

I was given an ARC copy for an honest review. This book was fantastic. I absolutely loved it. It was amazing to see the characters evolve. They had to face some struggles along the way & decide if the could survive or if they would just walk away. Amazingly written. Held my interest from page one. Liv and Jamie's story is one of hearty and struggles. They get pulled into many different directions. It was an excellent conculsion to Knockout. I highly recommend this book and have recommened it to many friends already. Enjoy it!!

Trust and loyalty. Two words that mean something to everyone. What are the instances when you find trust and loyalty shaken? Shattered... Just when you thought you knew that trust and loyalty was reciprocated. Some things just aren't forgivable.

4.5 'tapped out' STARS!!!

I'm not going to say much - because this book REALLY does stand on its own two feet. But I'll fill you in on a few, non-spoiler, facts.

When I finished Knockout, I was happy with where Jamison, AKA Jami, and Alyson, AKA Aly, were. I knew that this was far from the end of their story and it wasn't all tied perfectly in a bow but I knew they were in a pretty good place. I was an author-stalker. I'm not afraid to say it out-loud, and should probably attend counseling, but I did. Like it was my job. Again, Jami and Aly were 'OK' but I needed more. More of that fierce protectiveness and raw, honest love from Jami. More of that sassy, I-won't-take-your-shit attitude from Aly. I loved these characters and couldn't wait to dive in.

One thing that really stood out was Jami's loyalty. It was not a virtue that he took lightly. We already know this. But trust me when I say - you have no idea what he'll do to show it. Even when he may have already given up on you. Spencer is his best bud. He has Jami's back and Jami his. but does he really? When Jami's trust and loyalty are broken by Spencer he's completely defeated. Jami can't believe that he could have missed something like this. And I was shocked! Like mouth gaping, eyes bulging, shocked! This betrayal continues throughout the book and only time will truly tell if all is forgiven.

"You risked everything! After everything I've done for you..."

"The urge to kill him was overpowering... How he'd always thought they had each other's backs. Only to find out that his best friend - his only friend - had been stabbing him in the back this whole time."

Through the mess, the only person he wants to talk to is Aly. He needs her support and needs to lean on her. He kept a secret from her and she easily forgave him. I gotta say that I wouldn't have been so forgiving - but Aly was. And it seems Jami has finally gotten the true meaning of love - in my eyes - being able to trust that your partner will help shoulder all the burdens and fight through them together. It seems to happen overnight. Which makes it a tad unbelievable but I think back to all the woes of their relationship in Knockout and it reminded me that he's all in. Aly's the one for him - she's it.

"He couldn't imagine having found a better person to share his life with - she was sweet and charming, warm and loving - everything he's never had but always wanted. She was it."

In an unfortunate turn of the tables, it was Aly keeping an even bigger secret from Jami. I was yelling at my kindle 'Tell him... Tell him right now. Ok how about NOW... do it!' I know - I really do need that counseling, right?! Aly thought with all that Jami's going through that she would rather tell him later... but later becomes MUCH later. When her secret finally does come to light - it's from a person that Jami loathes with his entire being. Not cool Aly! I felt his rage, confusion, and frustration. Most of all, the shattered trust was tangible. At that moment, I was barely breathing and knew that what would transpire next would be pivotal for their relationship.

"She was lying to Jami. She still hadn't told him about..."

"She was petrified.
Jami's reaction couldn't be predicted. He would be upset, yes, but how much? Their relationship was fragile... She feared that, at any moment, the delicate balance they had struck would shatter."

But, Aly and Jami are soul mates. They are more than made for each other. The events of their past tie their future together. There is nothing they can't overcome. But there are moments when I felt their foundation shaking. Wobbling and teetering. Don, Jami's long-time coach and father figure, has a real problem with Aly. Seeming, for no good reason other than the distraction she presents for Jami. The bickering really gets out of control and Jami feels stuck in the middle. Having to choose. Don forcing his hand to choose. I was appalled that a grown man could act so jealous! I was not a Don fan in this book - although he somewhat redeems himself in the end. Ok, fine. He completely redeems himself but come on. Acting a fool because your fighter, your 'surrogate son', is finally in a happy place. Madly in love with a woman who only wants the absolute best for him?? Crazy-ass old man.

"Trust me when I tell you that there is no place for love in our world."

I swiped those pages furiously to find out what happens to one of my favorite couples. Lucky for me - and you - there's a most excellent epilogue that makes me smile, again, just thinking about. You cannot read these books and not fall in love with Jami, Aly, and the rest of the cast. Yes, even Don. This series, I really hope it's not over, is fantastic! I got pulled in and this book didn't let go until the very. Last. Page.

Wonderful, Sexy and UN-PUT-DOWN-ABLE! I Love Jamie and Ally!

The Review:
Jamie and Alley’s story continues as they navigate the seas of their relationship. Between Jamie’s advancing career, Ally’s tentative career and the people in their lives who are trying to stand in the way of their happiness for one reason or another, and both of their stubbornness, they have a lot of obstacles to overcome.

I enjoyed getting to the HEA of their story. Their road was a rough one, filled with lots of potholes but through courage and determination and the love they had for one another, they find their way. There is plenty going on in this story as Ally and Jamie both have their dreams threatened, but in the course of these disappointments, they find new goals and new dreams in each other. I loved the beautiful, hopeful, second chance theme of this story.

Their love truly did conquer all and I think their lives will be fuller, richer and happier because of all they went through. And that ending? Perfect!

Story/Characters...
Ally seemed a bit weaker in this book than she did in the first. She was faced with some bad pitfalls and as tough as she started out, I kind of expected all her traits to bring her up a notch. But she seemed to flounder when faced with those surmountable odds. But I still enjoyed Ally. She was bright, giving and her love shined bright. And the chemistry she had with Jamie was hot hot hot!

And the bar scene was priceless! I love how this author combines angst and fun together!

Jamie was yummy as ever! His courage and confidence, combined with his loyalty, really sucked me in and it doesn’t hurt he’s alpha-hot and sexy as sin. The fight scenes while he was in the ring were well written and I was cringing right along with Ally. The things that happen to Jamie because of the people in his life is heartbreaking but he comes out stronger and his fearlessness was swoon-worthy!

I enjoyed the side stories also. Ally versus Don in one corner, Jamie versus Spencer in another corner. A leg breaker and an abuser standing around them and in the middle was the BFF. Everyone had a part to play in breaking or lifting our hero and heroine but good or bad, I loved they all came out the other end with just what they deserved. It was an exciting and angsty ride!

The Wrap Up:
I really enjoyed both the books in this series. Jamie and Ally’s past connected them in their future and it was a wonderful journey full of tension filled conflict and hilariously fun times. I’m a huge fan of this author and this is just one more awesome read I can add to the list of favorites from her.

Jami & Alyson's journey to a hea.

2nd book conclusion.
History brought them together. Circumstances may keep them apart.

In the first book I learned that Alyson and Jami were childhood friends, Alyson grew up in a home of domestic violence and Jami used to sneak in her window and comfort her. I loved Jamison for that and I admit it made me swoon, he was a guardian angel in a young girls life and a good friend.

In Knockout both finally come together when Alyson is dragged along to a MMA match by her friend and she discovers Jami is the main fight of the evening.

Tapout pretty much picked up where Knockout left off and both characters didn't change much with there petty arguments and Jami storming off and not contacting her for days after each disagreement but as the story progressed their relationship matured.

An interesting plot with Spencer gambling all Jami's hard earned money away with his gambling addiction and all characters involved looking to find the money to keep Spencer from possibly losing his life to loan sharks.

A steady paced read that leads to a hea with no heavy drama or angst Tapout is an enjoyable read and a great conclusion to Alyson and Jami's story.

Reading as part of a box set of both Knockout and Tapout. Recommended fighter romance/childhood friends to lovers romance.

What could be better than a sexy MMA fighter, let me tell you...one that is not only a hot alpha but his heart is true. He finally is more open to everything he has been feeling for Alyson since the first book and I enjoyed watching him realize it all over the two books. Jamison really captured my heart with his caring and protective ways.

Once again things aren't going to be easy for Jamison and Alyson. They are going to have struggles and its really going to test the love they have for each other. Will they be able to hang on to each other while traveling the rocky road ahead of them or will they push each other away?

I have yet to find a book by J.C. Valentine that I didn't truly enjoy and this series was no different. If you are a sucker for MMA men and friends to lovers romance than this is for you!

I just love this series !!

Jami is a great guy , ok he does have anger issues , he is a fighter so he takes it out in the ring , he is extremely possessive and protective but DAMN IT IS HOT !! I think what I love about him the most is that even when Alyson drives him crazy or he takes off because he is mad he never strays from her. He says he is a 1 woman man and even when they have yet to label their relationship he holds true to that. I know cheating and guys screwing everything that walks makes some stories great , but my mind cannot take that all the time. This series gives me the drama and heartache I want but without that nasty cheating that makes my poor stomach turn !! Props for that !!
Alyson still cannot stand the fighting but hey she stands by her man !! She doesn't want him to change just be safe, and she is not afraid of her feelings and because of that Jami is able to open up and face his. She may make some selfish choices in both books but she does not back down from what she believes in and that goes double for her life with Jami. Her choices have brought some series drama down upon them.
There are a few major twists and turns in this book that shocked me , I saw things going a different way when it came to Spencer and Tony , I was pleasantly surprised. For some reason I could not get a feel for Don , I am not sure what his issues are but I felt they were ridiculous. Did Jami ever tell him about his and Alyson's past ?? It seemed a little bit much for him to have that much of a problem , but in the end it all worked out , thankfully.
I truly felt the connection between Jami and Alyson , especially when he traveled. I loved their texts , especially the drunk ones !! There was some funny scenes in this story that had me laughing and loving the series that much more.
There was some real struggle going on in this book , not only with Jami and his fighting career but with his friendships and Alyson. It was a great read because despite the horrible situations they were faced with things were always handled in a mature way , ok they did the walk away ignore each other thing a few times but the major issues , they did talk and work thing outs. There was no immature revenge plans to hurt each other. The hurt and heartache in this story was real and not forced. Again a reason that I loved this series. They were both stubborn but also stubborn at not letting each other go , and not letting their friends ruin their happiness and future.
I would love to see more about Spencer and maybe Don's back story. Of course even though we lived some of Jami and Alyson's past through their memories and nightmares I would love to get more of that

*** I was given a free copy of this in exchange of an honest review. ***

This taps out at a world class, full on 5 stars *****

History brought them together. Circumstances may keep them apart.

Alyson Blake’s past left her with scars. Scars that she tried to fix the only way she knew how—by helping others. But actions have consequences, and Alyson is about to find out that being naïve is no excuse.

Fighting is Jamison Weston’s passion. Alyson is his obsession. Despite the past and a few lingering concerns, their relationship is as solid as ever. Until a shocking lie is uncovered and all of his plans begin to unravel. Now, Jami is rushing to pick up the pieces, but as relationships are put to the test, will he be strong enough to keep it together, or will it all just fall apart.

So, this is the second book in the wayward fighters series and follows on pretty much where it left off in knockout.

Early on in the story, Ally learns that Jami will be out of town for a fight and that she will be left behind so she decides to stay with her bestie, Olivia. In this story, we discover why Spencer was acting so secretive in the previous book. Spencer is Jami's best friend and was dating Olivia but things didn't work out.

Things start to go wrong for both Ally and Jami... Him with Spencer and his issues and Ally with her job and the investigation into her becoming too close to people in her case (Tori and miles). Ally is a social worker and in the previous story we saw how she had let them live with her after the battered women's shelter had been burned to the ground. Ally knew through experience it could send Tori back to her abusive partner Anthony Michaels (another fighter) so she gave them a place to stay against the rules of her job. Anthony she suspects is the one to tip her boss off and also the one to start the fire, and now Ally has spoilt his plans he is out to get her. And nothing hits her harder than when he informs Jami she has lost her job. Jami tells her it's over because she lied about it.

The emotion I felt pouring from the pages was palpable. This story has twists and turn that will keep you turning the pages.. Even as I write this, I have just finished and it is 3.20am but I just had to finish. It follows on beautifully from book one and I have enjoyed every word, every line, every chapter. I did say in my review of knockout I would be reading more j. C. Valentine and I'll say it again. She has an amazing way with words that capture every emotion and throw it right out of the page at you. Well done in creating characters that I felt I knew personally and a super hot Alpha that made me fall in love. If a book can do that then I know it's a winner

ARC provided for an honest review. 4.5 stars!

Tapout starts off where Knockout left us...Alyson is cringing trying to get through one of Jami's fights.

Jami is now training to be a heavyweight and Don is coming down on him pretty hard.Jami is determined to get in the ring with Tony Michaels.

After a lot of bad judgment calls and Alyson's naivety her actions begin to come crashing down on her and her excuses can not get her out of it. Jami hides something until the last minute from Alyson and she hides things from Jami.

Their relationship is put through the test especially with Don being a constant in Jami's life and not wanting to have anything to do with Alyson. Don is just flat out mean to her for no reason. Then Spencer gets over his head in something dangerous and they need Alyson and Olivia's help to get out of it.

I thought this was a great conclusion to Jamison and Alyson's story.

Ally and Jami are back, pretty much starting right where the first book left off. They are doing well, although some of their same issues are still there - both still have the tendency to either run away from one another or just shut the other out. Also, Don, Jami's trainer and sort-of father figure, still hates Ally, for reasons somewhat unknown.

Jami has decided to go up a weight class, mainly because he feels like he needs a challenge, as he felt that he easily won his last weight class over. He is even busier training and trying to bulk up. The time for his first fight finally arrives, and instead of letting Ally come with him for the out of town fight, he seems to give in to Don's thoughts that Ally should stay behind - that still stumps me, but Jami and Ally do not always make decisions that make sense. I know that much of that comes from their backgrounds and the different types of abuse or neglect that they faced, but they can often push one another away really well. While Jami is away, Ally must finally face the consequences of one of her decisions from the first book, regarding Tori and Miles. Someone was aware of what she did, and they feel that her employers should know the truth.

Ally is in a bad place, but once she learns what Spencer has recently put Jami through, she decides not to tell him about the latest turn her life has taken - again, a decision that did not make any sense, but, again, I will chalk it up to her past. These two drive me crazy. When Jami gets home, Ally is more than happy to move in with him, aside from the whole Don hates her thing. She and Jami are doing pretty well, despite some other major curves that life has just thrown them all. The truth of Ally's situation finally comes to light, however, and Jami shuts down. He chooses to push Ally away - again. These two are so amazing together, and they have some steamy chemistry, but you are constantly on edge to see if they will be one another's saving grace or if they will push the other away one too many times! And when you throw Spencer into the mix...it keeps their life interesting. The hard times are definitely not over for this couple. I don't want to give more away, but you definitely have to check out what happens.

I loved Knockout. I could not wait for Tapout to see how J.C. Valentine ended the series for this couple.

The beginning of this book was a little slow for me. I didn't get the "can't put it down" stage until I was a little more than half way into the book.

Jami and Alyson were a great couple, their sex scenes were playful at times, loving and tender at times and hot as hell at times. I love a good alpha male hero and Jami was that in spades.

I liked how the author developed the relationship between these characters even though they knew each other as children they were slowly learning about each other as adults. It was nice to read the progression of the relationship. The fact that Alyson felt she couldn't be honest with Jami about her problems seemed to not mesh with me because for me Jami never gave her a reason to believe that he wouldn't be there for her. He always wanted to help and protect her. But I did like how that part of the story unraveled later it just took awhile to get there.

The background characters were a good addition, Don annoyed me sometimes I felt like his reason for not liking Alyson was a little silly. Alyson never did anything to Don personally he was just comparing her to other girls and his own life experiences and never gave her a chance. But in the end I thought the author did a good job resolving that conflict. When Jami needed Alyson most she was there helping him every step of the way and I think Don had no choice but to like her once she showed him she was in Jami's life to stay.

The side story of Spencer's issues gave the book some excitement that I felt it was missing in the beginning of the book. I would have like to see Jami and Spencer talk out their issues since they were like brothers, maybe a novella someday lol. I love an epilogue and this book had a great one.

All in all I enjoyed both books the first reads for me from J.C. Valentine, they definitely made me want to read more of her work.

Four hard hitting stars ****

Tapout is book 2 in the Wayward Fighters series and should be read after Knockout. The story is a continuation of Book 1, so please don’t read it without reading Knockout first.

Well Knockout left us with lots of loose ends. We have a violent husband serving threats of revenge, the bizarre behaviour from Spencer and Don’s continued hate towards Jami’s girlfriend Ali.

Well i’m afraid in this book for Ali, the hits keep falling. The decision she made re work in book 1, has dire consequences in this book, that affect both her work and her relationship.

Meanwhile Spencer is in a world of trouble, that Jami and everyone around him, including Ali have to bail him out of.

It’s nice to see Jami’s acceptance of his emotions in this story. He’s been influenced completely by his childhood but he’s finally starting to evolve:

“Love wasn’t a weakness. It didn’t fracture under pressure. Not unless it was weak to begin with.”

He’s accepting what his relationship with Ali means to him:

“For the first time, he was seeing the ways things could be, and he wanted it. He wanted it so bad he could taste it.”

Having got to a resolution with that, it’s his relationship with Spencer that brings him down. Spencer’s actions and Jami’s big heart, lead to Jami getting badly hurt, and who should be watching on but fellow fighter and abusive husband Michaels.

After Jami starts to heal everything leads up to a final fight - can Jami win and get justice for every bit of destruction Michaels has left in his wake or will the bully win?

I have to say, I really enjoyed getting back to Jami & Ali’s relationship, but some of the fighting scenes are pretty graphic (kudos to the writer for making me squirm), so if you’ve got a weak stomach, you might want to skip those bits.

It was great to get Ali & Jami to their happily ever after because if ever two people deserved it, it’s those two. The scene between the two of them and Don in particular (not spoiling it, you’ll know it when you see it), was refreshingly different and great to read.

I was given this book in exchange for a honest review.

That said I can really only give it 2.5 stars. I just didn't feel the Jami/Ally love connection like I did in Knockout. The sex scenes between the two of them in both books felt very glossed over but in Tapout especially. Those scenes between the two of them needed a little more connection, need, feeling and want. I don't mean down and dirty porno descriptive. It just needed more build-up, foreplay, heat, and sexual tension. Drag those out a little more.

I really wanted to love it. I really, really did. Even though J.C. wrapped all the stories up, I felt short changed with some of the story plots. ***SPOILERS AHEAD***

The Spencer/Jami/Tony/Maretti story. I just felt like the ending was cut short. It started out great and was headed in a great direction. I like the premise as a whole but it just felt like it was a quick wrap-up. I literally felt whiplash.

And don't even get me started on the Don/Ally story!!! Ugh, that was the most frustrating ending of them all!!!! To go from such extreme animosity to the "wrapped up in bow" conclusion so quickly, it left a bad taste in my mouth. The way J.C. wrote of Don's contempt, disdain, and scorn toward Ally was so descriptive and well written. I expected more of the same when she wrote the conclusion of Don and Ally story-line. Instead it was a quick conversation and all is forgiven. It just didn't sit right with me. There was no real closure and you never understood why. Oh Don gave a half ass reason but because of how well J.C. wrote his disdain throughout the story the quick "agree to disagree" didn't make sense to me.

Overall, the build up to some of the story-lines were awesome and original but then the endings felt like whiplash. It wasn't horrible but it could have been so much more. J.C. has such a great imagination and great story idea's but the way some of the stories were glossed over in their endings left a lot to be desired.

From childhood friends that always looked out for each other to two individuals that are separated after a devastating situation to finding each other again after years to lovers......Can Jami and Allie have there happily ever after or will uncontrollable circumstances drive them apart ??

While Jami is on the road fighting for his and Allies future .. Allie is trying to keep her career but it is not looking good for her because it seem someone turned her in for letting Tori and Miles live with her. Allie always did everything she could to help her clients even if was just buying shampoo for them with her own money. But it doesn't look like she can buy her way out of this jam or when she has to tell Jami the TRUTH about her loosing her job.

While all this is going on Jami finds out Spencer has some trouble of his own and he has to find a way to help him out too. Jami ties to make everything right with everyone but he doesn't know what is going on at home while he has been away but Allie and Olivia help out not even asking any questions which means leaving Allie penniless oh and homeless too ! Will Don let Allie live in the house with him and Jami ? We all know Don doesn't like Allie or does he really deep downtime she is the woman for Jami ?

How will this all work out ? Will Jami find out Allie lost her job, Will he be able to forgiving Allie for not being TRUTHFULL, Will Spencer get out of his own trouble, Will Olivia ever find the true love she is looking for, Will Jami and Allie find the happily ever after they are looking for and BOTH DESERVE !

There are a lot of questions answered in this book, but my only hope is that Tap out doesn't mean what it means ...ending....and we see more of Jami and Allie in more books because there story is a magical journey that needs to keep going !! I love there TRUE LOVE STORY !!
