I would have to agree with the author that I loved this book. So, I must really calm down. Or I’ll start screaming from this intense passion I’m feeling from reading this. Or start popping the question to the book’s cover, pretending I’m the girl there being held by Jack.
This book is really, very, loveable.
Their fake relationship is a twist of fate. Sabrina Cassidy believes in fate. So when her fiancé breaks off their engagement, she’s convinced they’ll get back together eventually. But fate was not on her side when it brought Jack Brenner into her life—and work. Frustrating, gorgeous, and cocky, Jack has an offer that Sabrina can’t refuse. Not if it means getting the life she’s always imagined.
Despite being one of the town’s most eligible bachelors, Jack has a reputation that’s working against him. He has to convince his father—and his company’s board—that he’s ready to settle down if he wants a promotion. But convincing Sabrina to be his fake girlfriend turns out to be the easiest part. What he didn’t count on was their intense attraction and how easily their lie would escalate. Sabrina’s still hung up on her ex, and Jack will never settle down. But fate has other ideas…
So, starting with the characters. Jack is REALLY sexy. And that’s probably the understatement of the year. I love Jack. He’s just so funny and so handsome and so sexy. And I guess that’s what everybody wants from their guy. Oh, and he’s family-oriented. But sometimes, he can be stupid. Maybe that’s what I hate about Jack. But then again, without it, the story would never flow this smoothly. Of all the characters in the book, he’s my favourite. He’s just terrifically perfect and awesome. And his dark past just adds to his sexiness.
Oh, and, of course, he’s such a romantic.
It’s rare to find guys like him in real life, so I’m really glad he was born, even if in a book.
Then there’s Brie! Brie is just awesome and bad-ass. But if Jack was an idiot, she an even BIGGER idiot than him. I wanted to go inside my laptop and shake her until she realizes what’s really in front of her, until she learns that not everything goes as planned. But she’s adorable. It’s adorable just how much she’d do for her dreams. And she’s so funny! Especially when she’s drunk. That was my favourite part of the story, well, aside from the ending. Now I won’t be a spoiler and say a lot.
Moving on to David. Can we pass him? Hahahaha. I like boys with fair hair and hazel eyes. But because of David, I started hating that combination. Maybe it’s because I’m being biased and looking through Jack’s eyes? Even so, I found him detestable. But he’s needed in the story and without him, there would be no story like this at all, right? But still. I hated him. That’s it. Period.
I loved the whole cast of this story (except for David, of course). I finished this in one day and wondered why I didn’t start reading it right when I got it. It was a page-turner. Jack’s dad is just plainly adorable. I love his reactions and his sneaky, little tricks. (And, of course, I’m very thankful he brought Jack to life, even if it was just in a book). The story flows smoothly. The humour never lets up. In every page, there’s something to laugh about, and that’s what I really love about it. Then there are the romantic quotes from Jack, like: “I have to go propose to my fiancée.” (My favourite line in the story!)
There are also the, ahem, romantic and passionate scenes to watch out for. They’re quite passionate, indeed. Hahahha. The chemistry between Brie and Jack was undeniable right from the start and their retorts to each other keep things interesting.
The only thing I can say that probably made me disappointed about this (besides David) is that I found it a little short. Maybe it’s because I’m used to longer reads. Still, it was a worthwhile read! Perhaps I just wanted to read more from Sabrina and Jack’s story. I loved this a lot! I’m not a big fan of romance but this just changed my mind. For that, I’ll give it five stars!
