What do you get with a Tank Girl graphic novel you ask? Well try The Power of Tank Girl by Allan Martin. You get exactly what you might expect, stuff and nonsense, but wonderfully, entertaining stuff and nonsense.

This collection contains three stories and a number of quick shots; The Royal Escape, Visions of Booga and The Innocent Die First. If you're expecting the stories to make sense, put this one back on the shelf. But if you want gunfire, tanks, mutant kangaroos, Tank Girl, Jet Girl, Barney and Boat Girl, all drinking, swearing, partying and living lives full of adventure in some futuristic, dystopic Australian desert, then give it a try.

The stories wander all over the place, from the ridiculous to the sublime. The art work often seems like grade school drawings but then switches to excellent artwork. It's just fun, a few laughs, neat little pop culture references (I mention Adam of the Ants baking cookies for a charity bake sale) and if I haven't mentioned it already, it's FUN! I always thought Jet Girl was my favorite but this time I leaned towards Barney. Not that it matters.

All in all, pure entertainment, a cult series you should check out. (3.5 stars)

Bill bought me this for Christmas. I liked it better than the other Tank Girl I read as the stories were mostly longer ones, and not so bitty. Visions of Booga was a great rip off of the beats and I throughly loved it. The other stories were more straight forward fighting and poop jokes. I have to say I'm not a big fan of poop jokes. While Tank Girl is often hailed as a great feminist comic icon it is clearly written by men. There was one part a bra was so small it was cutting off circulation because it was a 32AA instead of a 32C. (When it would be the same size around, but maybe the fact they got it wrong was the joke?) Still it was enjoyable and fun.

Okay, so things are looking pretty creamy for me and Booga right now, but I gotta tell ya that they weren't always that way. We've been through our hard times, too, right down there at the bottom of the barrel with all the other losers, it comes to us all, at least once in our lives. To prove the point, I'm gonna take you back a half-dozen years and show you just how crappy things can get. Let's start at the bottom and work our way up... Booga and I had been together for years. He's a kangaroo and I'm a girl who drives a tank, so you can see that we were a match made in heaven.

I've loved Tank Girl ever since watching the iconic film with Lori Petty. Part dystopian nightmare, part anarchic punk absurdity, the comics follow Tank Girl on her misadventures with her boyfriend, Booga, a mutant kangaroo, and friends Jet Girl, Boat Girl, and Barney.

Forever chased by the Army, the dysfunctional gang have to hide away in the Australian outback, making homes out of their respective vehicles and making ends-meat wherever possible.

It is silly, a lot of fun, and can be very x-rated! 4 1/2 stars.

Although the artwork and environment are cool, not even that can save the 13 year old humor about poop and farts.

The quality of this volume is just fantastic. It has nice thick pages, bold colors, and it's a big, fat book. I highly recommend this to any body who loves Tank Girl. Just a warning, it does have 3 stories that were in another volume. I can't remember off the top of my head which one exactly.
