Two broken hearts, a misunderstanding, an insatiable desire

Stripped of her closest friends and abandoned at the altar, Briony has been treated as a disgrace to her family. Her only solace lies in the rigorous training with the castle guards, where she channels her heartache into the strength of a warrior. When the enigmatic and handsome new captain of the Guard arrives, he will challenge her in ways she never expected.

Alan, shaped by the brutal tides of battle, is a man who's sworn off love, indulging in fleeting encounters to avoid the sting of betrayal. But in Briony, he meets his match. Their constant clashing ignites a fire neither of them can quench. When he gets a taste of her, he reaches the point of no return.

When everyone else tells her to stop, Alan stands by her side and pushes her to her limits. But shadows from Alan’s past come back to haunt him, planting the seed of mistrust deep in Briony’s wounded heart. Will they choose the path laid out for them, or embrace the burning abyss of their passion?

Realy liked this highland historical read.
There is always a way, you just have to look for a window instead off a door.

The writing was repetitive and clumsy. The sentences could have been combined and been more concise, conveying the intended thoughts. Contemporary phrases were used that were not common to the time period in which this story takes place. Needs an editor.

poorly written

Boring. The writer mixes a few words that may have been used in the time period but then uses expressions that would never have been used back then.

I rate this story at 3 1/2 stars. It is my favorite one out of the three books in this series. It's a quick and easy read and has a nice ending.
