Paige Turner #2

Misadventures of a Bookworm

Rate this book
From bookworm to main character . . . with several mishaps in-between.

Paige Turner is ready to jump back into the New Year’s Resolution she made with her book club to use the heroines from her romance books to lose her V-card. She said fate would tell her if she should continue, and fate sent in the Marines. Only this time, Paige has a lot more riding on her resolution than just her virginity.

The resolution wasn’t simply a romance genre and trope checklist. It was to embody all the things Paige had learned from the heroines in her favorite books. That included the confidence it took to go after what she really wanted, inside and outside the bedroom. Now, Paige is on the cusp of achieving her dream job and possibly living out the billionaire boss fantasy. That is if she doesn’t end up in the emergency room where the sexy and flirtatious doctor is. Or if the hot cop doesn’t have to ride to her rescue . . . again.

Paige is in for the misadventures of a lifetime, from enemies to lovers, an encounter with the mafia, meeting firefighters, Paige’s chance at her own Regency romance, and an encounter with a sexy stranger—a stranger who is hard to forget. Paige’s time to fulfill her resolution is getting shorter, but will these misadventures lead her closer to her own heart, desires, and happily ever after?

This is book 2 of Paige’s adventures and I’m loving it! Obviously I love my romance books but this is such a different concept than the other romance books I’ve read. Paige and her friends have set out to live their lives as main characters. For Paige the main thing that means is losing that precious v-card by trying out different romance tropes. Along the way though Paige is coming into her own and while she’s had a lot of embarrassing moments and tropes gone wrong she is thriving in all aspects of her life outside of romance.
I really didn’t think I would but I love not knowing who Paige is going to end up with. This book eliminates some of the contenders from to first book and introduces us to some new ones. I still have a specific guy I’m rooting for but we shall see how it all plays out!
Yes this book is funny but it also is kind of motivating to just go for it, whatever it may be, and live your life with that main character energy! I can’t wait to see what book 3 has in store for our girl!

I loved loved this next book in this series about Paige Turner. And I can’t wait to read the last installment. I have so many thoughts in my head about who Paige may end up with and who I want her to end up with and it is so different from my thoughts after the first installment. This book had everything- laughter, sadness, happiness, sexiness. I absolutely am enjoying this journey of Paige’s and I feel myself growing with her as a woman!! I highly recommend this series - you won’t be able to stop reading once you start!!

This is definitely a misadventure for sure. This poor woman has tried EVERYTHING to lose her virginity and it never works out. This is cute, quippy, a little corny here and there, and moves very quickly. In the beginning there was so much going on it was borderline chaotic but as the story developed that chaotic nature evened itself out. This book is 99% virginity but the fun relationships and situations she finds herself in are hilarious. This is like “Younger” meets “Sex and the City” but imagine Carrie as a virgin. And Max is her “Mr Big.” Paige has surrounded herself with an amazing group of friends that are routing her on in her endeavor to lose her virginity but the fallout of each situation is pretty funny. There also seems to be a lot of people that want to protect her virtue instead of taking it which is giving Paige (and me) and lot of frustration. Super fast, really cute weekend read that was a nice pallet cleanser coming out of all the dark romance of October.

This is book 2 in Paige’s trilogy of trying to lose her virginity with disastrous results. In the first book, she’d been arrested for prostitution while attempting to auction her virginity, had to be evacuated from a sex club after an acute allergic reaction to a body bronzer, and was interrupted while making out with her boss by the boss’s mother who screamed at her for being a $lu+.

Paige is in her twenties, but her inability to name actual body parts (she stops her friends from even spelling things out) or vocalize her desires makes her read like a teen with a fake ID. She had multiple potential love interests, including the arresting officer Max, who always seems to show up at the exact moment Paige needs saving from herself. Paige, however, takes every opportunity to malign Max’s girlfriend/fiancée(?), which, again, depicts her in a juvenile manner.

Who will she end up with? Well, you won’t find out in this installment. So be prepared for a cliffhanger, not a HFN or HEA.

I received an advance reader copy from The Author Agency, and I’m sharing my honest impressions.

Oh my , this book was so funny , I laughed out loud all the time. It was so fun to follow Paige's adventures. Now that's a fun way to think of your life and your experiences . Following a book tropes for a different experience and learning something new about yourself along the way . Paige was so smart and brave and she met great people along the way and made a good friends with some of them. And I hope she sees Frazer for what he is , as she did with Jack . I admire her for the grace with which she handled all life situations and still live the readers life to the fullest and even making it her job . That girl rocked the publishing business and achieved her goals. She has great friends who cheered up along the way. I loved the witty banter and that journal edits was so nice. This is the second book in the series and even though I have to catch up on reading the first one I can't wait for the next book. Because... seriously to end it on that cliffhanger and with that trope in advance. And as though her friend knew it when packed that books for her trip.

Thanks to the author and The Author Agency for the opportunity to read and review an early copy of this book.

This book was so so funny. I’m so grateful I received an ARC of this book. Paige is a hilarious main characters and her misadventures are so comical. The only thing I wasn’t a fan of was that it’s written in third person mostly and the ending cliffhanger. After a while I could predict how each of her rendezvous would go but Kathleen Brooks kept me engaging and laughing the whole way through! Overall it was a fun read and break from the small town romance kick i’ve been on lately. Grab your copy 10/15!

Omg I just loved these books! I read/listens to all three in one day, I couldn’t stop! I went through a roller coaster with this book. Laughing, cackling, kicking my feet! And screaming OMG!
Everything she does in these books is perfection even though it doesn’t turn out that way!
And omg the plot twist AND THEN the plot twist I didn’t see coming had my jump straight off the couch shouting! Holy bookworm.

I am new to this author and now I’m going to have to go read every single book she’s ever written!

Thank you to Kathleen and The Author Agency for these amazing reads. I was hooked right away!

Paige is partway through the year and still holding onto her pesky virginity. However, professionally she's making leaps and strides she never saw herself making. She's getting closer with the hot cop, and the hot doctor, and her hot boss... and still unsure where any of those friendships are heading. At least she can focus on adventure, and fun, and the family of friends she's surrounded herself with. Until her belief in her mission to toss her hat in the ring with anyone falters, and she's shaken and wondering if she knows what she's been doing at all.

*****

This was the perfect second book to the first one. This is less wacky, but still encompasses Paige trying to find herself. She's more open with those she cares about. She invests in friendships over hookups, but she still tries new experiences, even when she doesn't feel great about them after. She leans into her sexuality, her confidence, and her ability to stand up for herself, while still unable to fully find someone to cross the final line with.

She expands her trope repertoire, befriends some unique characters, and learns what it means to be a true friend. All of this still results in her frequently crossing paths with her billionaire boss, the hot cop and hot ER doctor. We get more motives behind those characters and see how they do and don't align with Paige, as well as how these tropes are glamorous in books, but might not turn out the same way in real life.

I loved seeing Paige continue to come into her own, as well as to have moments where she lost herself. Seeing her friends grow and become content in their relationships has me looking forward to how the rest of her year looks. I genuinely cant wait to read the next (and I think final?) book in this series. Now that she's professionally found everything she wants, I hope she finally finds her happily ever after.

I have said this many times, reading a book series makes me very skeptical.
1. I am usually the person that waits for the entire series before reading, I am not a patient individual.
2. Will book 2 or 3 live up to the hype of the original to the series?
3. Will I enjoy where the author is leading the characters within the series.
Well, this series so far is so worth my waiting for each book. Kathleen Brooks has done an amazing job, creating Paige. The character development from book one to book two is wonderful. Paige’s personal growth, not only with her own adventure but with the found family of friends is also just so heartwarming.
This all starts with a New Year’s resolution. The choices and adventures this story takes us on through Paige and her friends is not only hilarious but it is also an enjoyable perspective to see how someone of Paige’s age may feel about her life and life’s choices.
I truly enjoy books that just make you feel good, make you smile while reading, make you belly laugh between chapters. I also appreciate that it made me think about it when I was not reading it.
I mentioned in my review of the first book, Paige is truly finding herself within these pages and I am sure a lot of us readers can relate to Paige in some way or another. We also hope to have a group of friends just as wonderful as Paige’s found family of friends.
I feel Paige is one of my favorite FMC of the year. I can’t for the 3rd installment to the series, The Adventurous Bookworm.
I would like to thank the Author Agency and the author Kathleen Brooks for allowing me the opportunity to read an advanced readers copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

I missed the first book in the Paige Turner series – love this name BTW – and I’m kicking myself, not because it meant Misadventures of a Bookworm was spoilt in any way because I hadn’t read it but because I loved this book more than I expected to. Our intrepid heroine Paige, empowered by the characters in her favourite books and a New Year’s resolution to lose her V-card is a girl on a mission. Working her way through the emergency services, from cops, firemen and doctors to her billionaire boss and a mafia boss with a detour to a s€x club thrown in for good measure, but no matter what she does she can’t get past second base with anyone and despite being surrounded by some perfect specimens of potential heroes, she somehow manages to friend-zone each and every one of them.

This was a rollicking, fun-filled adventure as Paige worked her way through every trope she could think of and as a romance editor she knew a lot. I particularly loved her encounter with the mobster who didn’t know what had hit him. She was a calamity waiting to happen but there was no doubting her persistence, as aided by her friends she kept trying. With fantastic banter and some seriously steamy moments…...well I never said she didn’t come close a couple of times; this was a fabulous read that had me laughing throughout. With a large cast of wonderful supporting characters most of whom she scooped up across her quest I’m definitely going to go read the first book now to find out exactly how this craziness started.

This book had me freakin cackling!

The Misadventures of a Bookworm follows Paige Turner, a virgin young woman, who is trying to lose her virginity. As she tries, she finds herself in the craziest situations while meeting some interesting people and creating some amazing friendships.

I love the character development that happens here. Throughout most of the book, Paige is using book tropes to put herself in situations to lose her virginity, however they never work out. Down on herself, a friend tells her she's going about it the wrong way. She mopes for a bit then pulls herself out of it more confident about herself.

I love the banter in this book. It's absolutely full of it. Paige has great chemistry with some of the men she meets, however situations out of her control make it difficult to follow through on her resolution to lose her virginity.

There were a couple times I was rolling my eyes and thinking omg really?! One of the male characters was in his early 30's but acted more like he was in his late teens. It made me cringe a little.
Other than that, the humor in this book was perfect and made up for the cringiness.

This is the second book of the series. I haven't read the first book yet, however the antics of it are brought up throughout the second book without fully getting into them. This makes me super interested in wanting to read the first book!

Brooks continues all the hijinks and fun from Adventures of a Bookworm and I’m here for every moment. It looks like Paige’s adventures will find their resolution at the end of the next book, but as readers have come to expect it isn’t going to be smooth sailing for our heroine. And as with the first book, she meets fantastic new people and gets into one hilarious situation after another.

Paige’s friends, old and new, are an eclectic group – from a dom billionaire to a furry real estate agent, Paige brings them all together with love & acceptance and they repay her in kind. Her openness and willingness to try new things is delightful … and leads to more than one mishap.

I will admit that there were a few times where I wasn’t thrilled with the direction things took but Brooks is a skilled writer and had me back on board within just a few pages. She delivers quirky fun, humorous moments, and a surprising amount of growth. Is it realistic? No. Is it entertaining? Oh, yes! I am so glad I found this delightful little rom-com. I’m not usually a fan of books that have a cliffhanger but for Paige I’m more than willing and looking forward to more.

(I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.)

I have been waiting to read this book since I finished the first book in the series and I loved it as much as the first one!
If you haven't read "Adventures of a bookworm" yet you should definitely read that one first because this books continues right were the first book ended.
Paige is still looking to get rid of her virginity by trying various book-tropes (getting rescued by a firefighter, role-play, age-gap...) but somehow fate always intervenes. At least her job is going great and she has a group of friends that mean the world to her.
I love Paige: she is determined, adventurous and a genuinly nice person all roled into one great package. I would love to be part of her friend group. The things she stumbles into are hilarious, I laughed out loud several times while reading this book. I am already looking forward so much to reading the third and final part of this series and hope I won't have to wait too long.
This series is part of my all-time favorite books and if the blurb sounds at all interesting to you should definitely read it.
I received an ARC via The Author Agency and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Paige is still determined to check "losing her virginity" off her to-do list, but naturally, things don’t go as planned—again. Her adventures lead her into some of the most outrageous and laugh-out-loud scenarios, keeping the chaos alive in the best way possible. The ongoing push-and-pull dynamic with her cop boss and the ever-intriguing doctor keeps things messy yet entertaining, while her ventures into the Red Room and various romantic tropes add even more spice to the mix. Every step of her journey is unpredictable, making it impossible to put this book down.

What I love most is that, despite her love life being a complete disaster, Paige continues to grow and thrive in her career. She’s persistent, ambitious, and refuses to let setbacks define her, which makes her such an easy character to root for. Her confidence, even in the face of total romantic chaos, is both inspiring and wildly entertaining. I can’t wait to see how this trilogy wraps up—if her love life ever gets sorted out, it’ll be a miracle, but I’m here for every second of the ride!

Paige is still trying to loose her v-card by living every romance trope she, and her book club friends, think about. And let me tell you that she gets into some hilarious scenes.

In the first book of the series she makes a New Year's resolution to loose her v-card, so she has till the end of the year to do it. In this book we follow her for some months and she get to have some seriously hot scenes and some orgasms too but she still keeps that infamous card.

Between meeting new people thanks to the new tropes she still have her 3 "suitors" who will have more or less of a chance: the sexy doc (please don't end with him, there's something fishy here), Jack the billionaire boss (I would be happy if he is the one because he really is a good one), and Max the hot cop (please please let's discover that Sierra is his fake girlfriend or something like that and end with him).

As you can imagine, we need to read book 3 to know how Paige love life ends.

The whole outlook of this series has changed after reading this book. I am in love with the found family that Paige Turner has found herself in. While there are romantic situations that are happening and are hilarious, this book and series touches so much more on personal growth, adventures, and familial bonding. The group of people she surrounds herself with are just as hilarious on these adventures. Paige is having fun and exploring all the different book tropes she read about! Add in some new men with this book, and the hilarious moments keep on rolling. This was a perfect continuation from the first book. I still love Max and want him to be with Paige in the end. He seems like such a good person, which is exactly what she needs in the long run!
I am excited to read the last in the series and see how this journey ends!

ARC Review

This was an hilarious story! Paige testing out different "tropes" from her favorite romance stories in order to lose her virginity is one crazy of a ride. Even with the summarization of the first book, I wish I read it to fully experience her adventures.

While I completely loved the concept of this story, I did feel it was a lot. There was too many things going on and the book was very fast paced, but the storyline itself didn't really move along.

Paige having 3 "love interests" of different book boyfriends was a nice touch. But 1 of them being in a relationship and Paige not giving up on him until the end was not something I enjoyed.

I was happy when Paige finally decided that losing her virginity wasn't that huge of a deal and made the decision to just live her life and enjoy herself.

Overall it was a very hilarious unique romcom with the heroine turning into a real life heroine! With Paige going to Italy, I'm excited to see how her journey ends!

Misadventures

Omg just as good as the 1st and so much more!!

So many laughs

Our girl Paige is in her stride even though she has yet to lose that vcard ...
Paige goes through some growth in this one, not only with herself but in her job too.

The interactions between Paige and Jack is a great metamorphosis. How Jack changes from rake to friend and confidant and his own growth is amazing. Jack's office scene so explains a lot.

Max is still rescuing Paige and when he finds out about Paige befriending a mob boss shows his fierce need to protect her

And Fraser is just to busy to show his true color and maybe Max and Felix are right about him

Now with Paige getting the Romance department and expanding her friend circle
I can't wait to see what happens in the next chapter of Paige's escapades.

Hilarious and charming.

Paige Turner is at it again in the second book in the series. As the year ticks by, she is still looking to fulfill her New Year’s resolution and divest herself of a certain “V” state. It’s charming and hilarious following her adventures and observing her growth and sensual awakening. She meets more unique people and discovers more romance tropes in her journey to be the main character in her story. I love that she is so in tune with the people she meets, she can make matches between her friends, and even give some good advice. I was so excited about this book and devoured it in one sitting. This is a laugh-out-loud, heartwarming, and delightful story. Start with book one to get the full experience of Paige, her friends, and their hilarious situations. I can’t wait for the next book.

Spice:🌶️

"Misadventures of a Bookworm" continues with its second installment of the Paige Turner series, picking up where the first book left off. Paige's quest to live her life like a romance novel heroine remains entertaining, but the repetitive nature of this book mirroring the first left me wanting more progression.

Positives:
- Paige's growth and self-awareness shine through
- The author's writing talent and wit are undeniable
- Romance tropes remain cleverly incorporated

However:
- Repetitive plot points and unresolved questions frustrated me
- Lack of conclusion left me eager for resolution
- Uncertainty surrounding Paige and Max's future

While I adore the series' concept, I wonder if condensing the story into a longer, singular book would better serve the narrative.

Cautions:
- Repetitive plot
- Cliffhanger ending

Despite reservations, I'll continue reading to see Paige's journey through. The author's skill keeps me invested.

Such a fun read!

Paige and her misadventures had me glued to this book. It was so fun and she is such an endearing character that I couldn’t put this down! I did not realize it was book two in a series and had not read the first book. While I do recommend doing so, as it sounds like it was full some amazing shenanigans, I feel like I was caught up enough, and quickly, to be able to enjoy this one on its own. That being said, there is no way I’m missing out on book three and do intend on catching up with the first just because this one was so entertaining and I want more from this group of characters! Highly recommend for any lover of romantic comedies or if you are looking for a light hearted read full of laughs!

Reading this book is so delightfully naughty and deliciously humorous that it will keep you turning the page to find out what Paige gets up to next in her plan to lose her V-card.... If she is not ending up in emergency, she is being found in compromising situation in the bosses office or an elevator with an adversary and the fire department has to come to the rescue.
This book reminds me of an old series from back in the 50's The Peril of Pauline only more sexier and modern.
I love the Book club friends, there hang out and all the fun they have.
I so recommend this book for a curl up winter night with your fav blanket and your fav beverage. I can't wait for the next book in the adventures of Paige Turner.

Book 2 in a 3 book series with a solid attempt of filling in the book 1 escapades of our main bookish female character.

Paige made a resolution to lose her v-card this year, and it's been quite a series of adventures and mishaps as we come to the mid-way point of the year.

Paige has the greatest support of her friend group, who each made similar growth and achievement resolutions. While they seem to be hitting their strides, we must watch Paige get to absorbed into herself to achieve her resolution.

The main characters have so much potential, but everything feels very surface here.

This is a quick, easy read, but go in not expecting much. There is a hint of spice, either a couple of explicit paragraphs.

The premise holds much promise, the output feels lacking to me.

The hysterical adventures of Paige continue in book 2. Her girlfriends are back and they bring even more laughs. New friends from the fire department join the crew. I adore these friends - their conversations, support for one another and the mischief they all get into.

“She might not be lucky in love, but she was lucky in friendship, and that was just as special.”

Paige’s adventures take us through more of our favorite romance tropes. Kathleen has again written a book the many women/readers can relate to. Some of it is outlandish but that’s what makes it such an amazing read.

The elevator scene with Timothy had me laughing out loud.

Another fantastic story…cannot wait for book 3 and to see if Alain remakes the right choice. IYKYK

So I brought the two remaining books 'coz I badly wanna read them. By this time, I don't even know who she's gonna end up with. LOL! I even researched online and checked with GPT but they're giving names that's impossible. But then I had one search that made me hope. Yep, hopefully, he's the one. I don't know what it is about the stories this author is writing but I'm definitely hooked. I usually read MM stories but I stopped for Paige. Girl, you got me hooked on you! Not you, that would be NOOOO! Hahaha! I love your clumsiness and everything. Sometimes I even think you're a real person, not just a character in my book, but the amount of stuff you experienced in a year? Well, I think that would be too much for a real life person. Or is it? Anyway, you're 5 stars for me, Paige.

Misadventures Of A Bookworm was a such a cute and funny romance book! You will have to read the first book, Adventures Of A Bookworm since the book goes straight from there.

Paige is going through a "checklist" per se of book tropes and how she can lose her v- card. She has tried many different scenarios and none of them have seemed to go far enough. She is also right on the edge of also getting a promotion at work. Paige keeps going throughout this to get to her goal no matter how many mishaps are along the way.

Kathleen Brooks creates another great book in the Paige Turner Series! There was so many elements to this book, but was fairly easy to keep track.

This book is so well written. I truly feel like I am right there with Paige and her adventures! I had moments where is was literally giggling out loud and moments where I covered my face and said oh did that really just happen!!!

This is a lighthearted, feel good, quick read with a cliff hanger ending. I highly recommend this series and I cannot wait for book three!!

I think this was my first story by this author and I enjoyed the story.
It was funny, engaging and definitely captured me from the start.

Some parts moved quit fast and it was funny but in some ways it was a bit slow🤷‍♀️

Paige definitely had it with her virginity and tried everything to get rid of it, wi h caused some hilarious moment.

If you in the mood for a romcom, heroine, virgin, new years resolution... then definitely give this one a go☺️

This book was cute, quippy, a little corny here and there, and moved very quickly.
I have been waiting to read this book since I finished the first book in the series, and I loved it as much as the first one!
This book had me cackling! I love the banter in this book. It's absolutely full of it. Paige has great chemistry with some of the men she meets. However, situations out of her control make it difficult to follow through on her resolution.
This series is part of my all-time favorite's, and if the blurb sounds at all interesting to you, you should definitely read it.
