A secret government program has developed a unique being from experiments with alien DNA and human embryos. This genetically enhanced being is known as GENE (Genetic Embryonic Nucleus Enhancement). But during the World Trade Center attacks, Gene has escaped – and is befriended by Butch of Texas. The US government mounts a nationwide search, but Butch does his best to hide Gene. With the help of Butch’s close friends, Gene avoids being captured by the government despite the government’s efforts of finding him. They have used every asset at their disposal – satellite coverage, phone taps, vehicle trackers, and transmitters – but still, Gene is kept in a safe hideout.
But things get more complicated when Gene meets Leslie. As Leslie becomes pregnant, Gene and his protectors must double their efforts to develop plans that will keep them all safe. But how long will they be protected in their safe haven? Read on to find out.
Texas author Jim West continues his fascinating series DNAlien with this second installment that further explores the primary character Gene, or as the author wisely informs - GENE (Genetic Embryonic Nucleus Enhancement) – who is a new form of life combining DNA taken from alien bodies with a normal human embryo. Now after 9/11, the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base discovers Gene has escaped. His Texas ally Butch aids his hiding, and a treacherous search by the government ensues. To add to the drama Gene meets Leslie and personal problems mount.
West’s keen ability to join history with sci-fi makes this fiction novel credible, as is evident in the following passage from the Prologue that provides background for this story: ‘Mr. Ray Downey took Gene to a small ranch just north of Azle, Texas, and Gene had his first brush with civilian life. It was while there that the traumatic events of the day exploded across the face of America. The cowardly attacks of the Islamic radicals on the World Trade Center towers ultimately provided Gene with both a chance of escape and ultimately provided the cover story the government needed to mount a nationwide hunt to recover the item they could not admit they had’ – Gene!
A true page-turner, this novel explodes with fascinating events, securing the readers attention to the very last page, creating fervent anticipation for the next installment of this successful series.
Jim West throws readers back into the high-stakes world of GENE—an experimental being born from alien and human DNA—in DNAlien II: The Hunt for Gene. Thanks to a devoted friend called Butch, Gene ends up in rural Texas after fleeing during the turmoil of 9/11. But peace is elusive. Gene must negotiate a dangerous game of survival while safeguarding a new love and a life developing inside her as federal forces approach with relentless surveillance and cutting-edge technology.
West cleverly combines political intrigue with science fiction to produce a taut, suspenseful story that pulses with urgency. More than a sequel, The Hunt for Gene is an exciting development of a bold idea that begs provocative questions about identity, loyalty, and what it actually means to be human using vivid descriptions, surprising turns, and emotional depth. Sci-fi fans will love this one. Highly recommended.
This is the second installment of this wonderful work by author West, which immerses the reader in the world of action and science fiction. The book's plot revolves around a secret government program that has developed a unique being through experiments with alien DNA and human embryos. Gene, as he is known, has escaped and will do everything possible to avoid detection. With the help of his friends and Leslie, they will do everything possible to keep him safe. I recommend this unique storyline to all science fiction lovers. Furthermore, each chapter is very well developed, making it incredibly interesting. Definitely, a book to enjoy and to recommend.
In this second book about Gen, we once again dive into an excellent science fiction world, this time with a touch of romance and adventure. Once again, the author delights us with a well-structured story and well-developed characters that will keep us turning the pages, eager to find out what happens with Gen and Leslie. The love story between them, along with the challenges Gen faces, gives this book a unique flavor compared to the first one, adding some excitement and a new twist to the plot. I truly enjoyed reading this book, and I honestly recommend it for those who like good science fiction stories. You’ll not regret.
It was a good surprise, I don't tend to grab sci-fi books a lot, but somehow, I ended up reading this one until the end, it really pulled me in. I think because the story was easy to follow, and the characters had a lot of realness throughout the book. I like that there is a lot of action, also emotion and a lot of suspense that made me keep wanting to know more and more. The action with the government and Gene was very entertaining and also those moments about love and the power of friendship or the power of caring. Overall, a good one. Readers not into sci-fi might still really enjoy this one.
This book continues with the fiction and adventure of Gene, who with the help of his friends flees from the government agency and hides in Texas. This time, it has a touch of romance, because the main character falls in love with Leslie, who becomes pregnant, and Gene has to face one more challenge and that is to defend those he loves. The plot is just as interesting, where the reader must keep his attention focused on reading, and is immersed in a series of events, making him not want to stop reading until he finds out what is going to happen. Although the plot is not difficult to understand, I recommend starting with the book DNAlien I, because the beginnings of Gene are quite interesting.
