Stuff Good Players Should Know may very well be the best book ever written for basketball players. It is conversational and easy to understand, yet filled with subtle insights into the game of basketball. STUFF is page after page of creative concepts, common sense, and special tips that can not be found anywhere else. STUFF is like having a coach right beside you, in your room, discussing the fine points of the game. Basketball fans will enjoy it, but players won't do without it.
Really interesting reading, and lots of next-level ideas for players to use in game situations. In reading the entire book, I would say everything in there helps players to play the "right way": great attitude, savvy, competitive, smart, and consistent.
But at the same time, the author is very realistic about the amount of time spent playing pickup games and driveway games, and how that time can be used to develop basketball skills. (As opposed to overly judging the flaws of how pickup games are played.)
Excellent read for players who want to add game situation awareness on top of their fundamental basketball skills.
I think that about 50 nice diagrams could really make some of the concepts easier to learn, which is all that kept me from giving 5 stars.
