Abominable: A Supernatural/Horror Thriller Series

Rate this book

After a harrowing encounter with a serial killer, a near-fatal battle with a malevolent woodland creature, and a failed assassination attempt on her life, Jillian packs up her Airstream and motors away from the Catskills. Her destination? Sunny California with its sandy beaches and tranquil ocean views. Standing between her and paradise is a white-knuckle drive through Utah’s Wasatch Mountain Range, but as long as she can beat the forecasted hundred-year storm, she’s golden.

Of course, as with so many ‘coincidences’ in her life, the ice, wind, and snow arrive early, trapping her in a dangerous blizzard while perched on a treacherous mountain switchback.

Help arrives in the form of a teenage boy, forcing Jillian to choose between freezing to death or accepting his offer of sanctuary in the home of his family.

The decision isn’t the no-brainer one might expect. The deeper Jillian digs into the ideology of the wealthy Olsen family — leaders of an exclusive survivalist community — and the longer she’s forced to stay, the more perilous the situation becomes. Even in this far-flung ‘prepper’ society, walled in by snow-capped mountains and trapped by a raging blizzard, Jillian isn’t safe from the paranormal creatures that hunt her, nor the human monsters who seem hell-bent on pursuing her to the ends of the Earth.

Jackson is determined to stay far away from the Biosecurity Research Institute, The Rosalind Project, and Dr. Walt Richter, the brilliant scientist who bears responsibility for Jackson’s accursed ‘monster sight’.

But to achieve that goal, he must take extreme measures to protect himself, measures that lead him to a necromancer in New Orleans and force him to cross a glaring red line.

Long-term cloaking magick will make him nearly invisible to the demon cabal, the high-level abominations who thirst for his death.

And that kind of magick comes with a gut-wrenching price tag.

I love books.

Everything I've learned about writing has grown from my love of reading. I began my writing career at the tender age of seven, when I wrote a play for my third-grade class. It was not an assignment; I did it because I discovered I loved creative writing as much as I loved reading. I received a children's typewriter the next year, and countless short stories followed.

I wrote some awful poetry during my teen years, then some not-so-awful short stories over the next two decades. I became serious about writing books ten years ago. The timing felt right, and I created the world-altering habit of writing every day.

My first published novel, Secrets Under the Mesa, began as a short story. I decided it had some legs and went with it. The inspiration for The Troop of Shadows Chronicles emerged from two directions: my love of post-apocalyptic fiction and a recent interest in disaster preparedness.

Stephen King says, "Talent is cheaper than table salt. What separates the talented individual from the successful one is a lot of hard work."

The hard work is worth it. I hope you enjoy my novels. I wrote them for fellow book lovers just like you.

I live in the suburbs of Dallas, Texas, with my husband and three spoiled rotten rescue dogs.

Adventure awaits

Jackson and Jillian are on the trail of more monsters and mayhem. After some way too close calls, and finding out really disturbing news about what lies in the future, they both continue with their lives of danger. In a nearing the apocalypse times, these two are who I want to keep close.

Best one of the series, and that's saying a lot, since I've loved every one of them. The action is more intense, the characterizations grow even deeper, and the behind-the-scenes machinations are more compelling. With its taut writing and outstanding descriptions, the reader actually feels part of the story.

Strong 4.75+ as the series flashes out...

Monsters, murders, demons, mad scientists....and no one sure who are the bad guys or the good. However, the veil/divider between our world and theirs is failing so it appears things are about to get even more interesting..... Fast paced unusual series!

Best of the series so far 👏 👌
I rarely give 5 star reviews and this book was almost perfect, if rating systems were out of 10 I'd definitely give it a 9.
Cant wait for the next one.
