4 “My will, my choice.” stars
Bound by sensual secrets and illicit fantasies, the select members of the Sinners Club are privy to carnal pleasures too shocking to share. . .

Alistair Maclean takes great pride in his role as secretary for the Sinners Club, serving both the powerful men and women who thrive off mystery, fantasies and pleasure. Seen as both interesting and untamable, while taking great pleasure in controlling the club he finds greater pleasure being hurt, owned and used. The ladies are worried they demand too much from Alistar and bring in their own secretary, one who sees the perfect opportunity for both business and pleasure. Seen as both interesting and unatanable, Mr. Maclean finds great pleasure in serving the Sinners Club, but he finds greater pleasure under his terms on being used, owned and hurt.
"I will expect you to be naked and on your knees.”

He looked over his shoulder at her. “Go to the devil, Lady Theale.”

Mr. Maclean isn't your normal submissive, being very much in control of everything around him, he finds himself at the mercy of his brothers mistakes once again and this time his brother has gone a little too far... he doesn't have enough time to indulge in his desires especially with Lady Theale. Diana, Lady Theale, has secrets in her life and she knows the answers are held within the walls of the Sinners Club. While looking for any possible clues, her need for answers are tested when her loyalty grows for the Ladies she serves and her growing affection for Mr. Maclean. She sees the need in him that feeds her own, knowing she is Lady enough to satisfy and quiet their dark erotic desires.
“Mr. Maclean.” She inclined her head a regal inch. “When you’ve gotten over your surfeit of masculine pride, please remember to be naked in my room at midnight on Friday.”

Mastering a Sinner is the third in the Sinners Club series, and in my opinion is by far the most carnal of the bunch. You are transported back in time, drawn in by their dark desires, hidden behind closed doors. With it's old English speech, detailing out every illicit fantasy and sensual secrets...making it all the more naughty.

Alistair is a strong man who isn't found weak just because he prefers his pleasure be wrapped up pain and humiliation, it was the opposite really. Having a strapping man as controlled and intense as he was, submit to Diana was reflected a sense of freedom, not to mention it was flat out sexy. Diana is a survivor, every step and word calculated with a purpose.

This series is one I have enjoyed, each one bringing a sense of mystery and a whole lot of pleasure; plus I find it quite enlightening, learning new fun little facts about the past. I personally can't wait whose story is next!

I skipped over some parts(yes, most of the sex stuff). It's official femdoms are a no-no for me. Besides this I can't say I liked either character very much, especially how the ehro let his brother keep walking all over him.

Never thought I would say it....

I didn't like this book at all. I have enjoyed Kate Pearce since before her Simply series and I enjoyed the Sinners book until this one. I didn't like the characters. I thought Diana was cold and I just didn't get Alistair's need to serve. It's not the proDomme aspect, I love it if it's done well, in this book it simply wasn't. And I HATED the scene with the Mischon's. And I love Jane and Blaze. Yes, I will buy her other books, but this one, no, no, no.

Histo-erotic romance featuring Alistair, as a submissive to Diane, Lady Theale.

The Good, The Bad and Everything In Between

Sweet Jeebus. It’s an interesting story mixed with alot of dirty, dirty hot sex.

The Bottom Line
If you love a good smutty historical book, check it out.

Yep, that’s all I got. I’m too busy blushing….and looking for the earlier books in this series.

4.5 stars

As a long time reader of Kate Pearce and a big fan, it’s sometimes hard to be unbiased about her work. But I can say with complete honesty about this book that while it pushed many of my squick buttons initially and took me some time to get into, at the end it was well worth the read and actually became one of my favorite of her books ever.

There is a quality about some erotica, especially Ms. Pearce’s, that tends to push me a little past my limits, which I enjoy in a rather odd and vicarious way. It’s like you don’t really think about it, but if it’s going to be done and you’re going to read it, you’d rather it come from her than from someone else. Handled with her delicate yet erotically direct style, it’s much easier to read and imagine some of the very risky, fanciful and rather outrageous things that occur in her books than in the hands of a lesser writer. And some of the tamer things are just simply divine! And the storylines are well drawn out, with the two main character’s motivations and personal integrity shown through their actions and behavior toward one another throughout the book.

Alistair Maclean has had a difficult life. A dispossessed Scot who’s been forced from his homeland and castle, he ignores his title for the life of a lowly secretary in order to feed his mother and sisters. Remaining strangely without bitterness about his place in life compared to what it could have been, he only seeks what he can make and looks for nothing more. Unfortunately, he is shadowed by an entitled younger brother Harry who, unhappy with the fortune and schooling he received after turning their Jacobite-leaning father in for a reward, continues to rely on Alistair to save him from his troubles. Harry’s lying and bad behavior have lost Alistair many a good position and marred his reputation. He is determined not to let this happen again at his new job at The Sinners Club and so refuses to support Harry or allow him entrance.

Diana, Lady Theale, also has had a very difficult life and a very checkered past. Let’s just say she has worked in a pleasure house before working at The Sinner’s Club and has developed strong ideas about D/s. And she likes the capital D for herself. She is in the club for one reason and one reason alone, and she’s trusting only two friends with her secret. And Alistair is not one of them. He is an unwitting pawn, a plaything, if you will. A pretty bauble on the end of her leash. She submits him to really beastly things initially with a lot of what I saw as callous disregard, and I really didn’t like her. She seemed like a real bitch. I didn’t see the reason for her extremely vicious hatred and for her anger that overflowed at Alistair, who was NOT the target of her search or even peripherally guilty.

The story unfolded beautifully, and the character of Diana began to show care for Alistair, who was quite sweet and attentive to her. It was hard for him to admit to and give in to his submissive nature and who can blame him? Diana gave very little of herself over for him to trust, and the basis of a D/s relationship is trust. She wanted more from him than just a night of passion but was unwilling to give him the trust necessary for him to open and submit and offer the bond a submissive would give over to his Dom.

As with all of Pearce’s work, the characters are involved in political intrigue of some sort, and this novel is no exception. And while it is easily read as a stand-alone, characters visit from both novels past in The Sinner’s Club series and from the Pleasure House series as well–benefiting both those who’ve read her previous work without harming those who are new to her series. Alistair’s brother Harry’s nefarious plans disturb what would otherwise be a wonderful situation for Alistair–and Harry’s thievery causes danger to befall Alistair both personally and professionally as he takes something from the secretive Sinner’s Club and leaves a false trail pointing to Alistair.

How can Alistair clear his name without condemning his own brother to prison and possible death? And can he trust that his brother will return in time to repay his debts at the notorious Demon Club, or will Alistair be forced to make reparations in his place? Only a fool would risk trusting Harry, again…

And will Diana ever put another before her need for vengeance? For all her grand words of independence and her desire to know, she has certainly denied the true measure of her feelings for Alistair. When will she realize and reach out…and will it be in time?

Mastering a Sinner is another sumptuously decadent installment in Kate Pearce's über steamy historical series, The Sinner's Club. This deliciously erotic romance has a slight element of mystery to the storyline but the overall focus is on the developing D/s relationship between Alistair Maclean and Diana Theale.

Ever since his father was convicted of treason, oldest son Alistair has been the family's sole supporter. His mother and sisters still live in Scotland, but he and his brother, Harry, now call London home. Alistair works as a secretary for the Sinner's Club and he has his hands full trying to keep Harry out of trouble.

Left penniless after her husband's death, Diana is also employed as a secretary at the Sinner's Club. She is an orphan who knows little about her past but she has a few suspicions about the identity of her father. Diana is hoping to find answers to her questions at the Sinner's Club, but she keeps her investigation a closely guarded secret.

Alistair senses Diana has ulterior motives for accepting the position at the club, but no one takes his doubts seriously. He is quickly sidetracked from digging deeper into her background by the latest crisis with Harry which involves a debt he owes at the disreputable Demon Club. However, Alistair's biggest distraction is his unexpected D/s relationship with Diana.

Alistair is a submissive who finds it difficult to discuss his limits. Diana is a dominant who pushes Alistair to be honest about his needs. Diana puts her needs before Alistair's and she is more concerned about her satisfying her desires than his. Alistair cannot resist his attraction to her, but he finds it almost impossible to completely surrender to her.

As with the previous novels in The Sinners Club series, the sex scenes in Mastering a Sinner are scorching hot. Diana is in complete control of her encounters with Alistair and she sometimes takes their scenes a little too far. Needing some guidance, she turns to Lord Minshom (from Simply Insatiable) and under his tutelage, Alistair is finally forced to set his sexual boundaries. This becomes a bit of a turning point for Alistair and Diana, but she is still reluctant to completely trust Alistair with her secrets.

Mastering a Sinner by Kate Pearce is a captivating read that is fast paced with a well-developed storyline and engaging characters. The sex scenes are exquisitely detailed and very erotic. All in all, it is a superb addition to The Sinner's Club that old and new fans of the series are going to love!

I felt sorry for Alistair, getting stuck with a brother like that. I didn't really like Diana's character either.
I am torn with this book. I love Kate Pearce's stories, including this one, and I did want to rate it 5* because of my love of reading KP, but I did not think this particular story to be as incredible as the others. If I did rate it thus, then somehow the previous books in this series would lose their rank.
It is a fab read - though I must say I'm not much into reading slavish-type books. I much prefer m/f and m/m/f. However, how can I not read one of the best writers of hot & sexy novels....that is Kate Pearce!

3.75 rounded to 4 stars.

First I'll start by saying I wouldn't have chosen this book if I didn't have a reading challenge it fit and it wasn't recommended. I do enjoy erotic romance but I don't generally seek out BDSM stories. This is also a third book in 'The Sinners Club' series but it stood on it's own well without me reading the other previous stories. This novel had A LOT of pain and humiliation along with many different kinds of sex by people of different genders and kink levels. I found the romance between Alistair and Diana to be well written, the mystery of who was working with Alistair's brother and the accomplice easy to solve, but was off with who Diana's parent was. Overall it was a sex-soaked romp with some romance and decent writing but not really my cup of tea.

Sensuously decadent, spicy and incredibly turbulent, Kate Pearce’s Sinners Club series is a lovely historical romance series with a strong theme of dominance and submission. Alistair is working as a secretary at The Sinners Club, as the sole support of his family and responsible for keeping his brother Harry in line, his hands are full. His father’s conviction for treason has limited his options for employment, and this reputable and responsible position at the very scandalous house is his saving grace.

When the female members at the club demand a female to deal with their information, Diana interviews for the position. An orphan that was left penniless after her husband’s death, her work saves her from penury. She’s full of questions, namely the identity of her father, and Alistair is concerned about her intentions for the job. Unfortunately, no one wants to hear his concerns, and when he has to solve the next crisis from Harry, he has to let go of his worries.

These two are intriguing – Alistair is very capable, yet he’s holding on to his own desire to submit. Unfortunately this comes with his total inability to talk about limits and likes, a dangerous position. Diana is intrigued by Alistair, and her take no prisoners method of domination is wholly self-serving and seems to be unwilling or unable to consider his desires or needs. This sets up an interesting push-pull play between them, where Alistair is unable to completely submit until his needs are addressed.

Unbelievably steamy and sensual in their encounters, the setting, the action and the byplay between them is incredibly well written. When Diana realizes that she needs ‘assistance’ in fully assuming her dominance, she turns to Lord Minshom for advice and guidance. Learning well from him, Diana is able to move her relationship with Alistair forward in terms of trust in the bedroom, but it is still a struggle for her to share her suspicions about her father.

I love this story, Pearce’s world and character building is solid and engaging, giving them life and allowing readers to form a solid visual image of the character, the place and the action. Fast paced and easy to read with a touch of mystery, this is sure to please many readers.

I've just finished but I'm struggling on how to review and rate the book. I'm going to have to take a moment and think ... FULL REVIEW TO COME. ~ Nov 19, 2014

12/30/14 UPDATE: The book has released today so I need to review it. This is REALLY a very hard review for me to do. I have loved Kate Pearce from the moment I read her first book years ago and I love THIS series but this particular book ..... (here comes the bad part).
I will tell you flat out, that I am in no way, even in fantasy reading, attracted to the aspect of the D/s lifestyle. For example, the whole slave lick my boot thing does absolutely nothing for me. I even find it kind of sort of ... stupid, for lack of a better term. I can however, take anything in small doses. So if I read a novella which focuses fully in this lifestyle between the hero and heroine, it more than likely will not phase me. Or at least I have never had it affect me.
SO bottom line is, the book bored me to tears! And because of its extreme and frequent D/s themes, I found myself skimming 95% of the sexual interactions between Alistair and Diana, which of course means I skimmed a lot of this book.
Now lets talk about Kate Pearce and her goodness! This book, just like all others, has deep, scorching, hot and erotic scenes between the H/h. She has the ability to put you RIGHT THERE with her vivid phrasing and storytelling! She is a Master (see what I did there) at writing compelling stories that keep you turning page after page.
This WOULD BE a 5 star read for everyone else, but as I mentioned earlier, it was just WAY too much BDSM for my liking. I like it kinky, I like it dirty and I especially like it scorching and hot! Just not so .... slave like my boots! UGH, I really hate down rating the stars because Kate Pearce is a phenomenal writer and I hope everyone that reads this will read my review all the way thru before they make a decision on whether or not to buy this book or not.
OK, that is all. Happy reading!

This book will not be everyone. Some people will read it and hate it. Others probably wouldn't even consider reading. The reason for this is simple, despite the fact the romances featuring BDSM have become huge since Fifty Shades, people still feel uncomfortable reading books where the woman is the dominant and the male is the submissive.

And do you know what that is okay, everyone has different tastes, however, what annoys me is when people read this book knowing they dislike romances featuring female dominants. If it isn't you're cup of tea don't read it. Anyway end of rant.

This is the first book I read by Kate Pearce and it has made me want to read more of her books. Partly because although the romance between Diane and Alistair worked as a stand alone, I felt like a lot of the secondary plot would have been enriched by reading the previous stories...

This is the first story I read whose MC is a male sub. I like the role reversal quite a bit. Bonus points for it being historical. I got a little bit of the vibe where the Domme isn't as concerned for his needs or feelings and that's why I didn't rate the book higher. It's got a decent plot and the development was on point but there was an element in their relationship that didn't really click for me. All in all a good read.

As a longtime fan of Kate Pearce and of the Sinners Club I was not prepared to dislike both the plot and the main characters. While I quite enjoyed Alistair, it was Diana I just could NOT connect with and it made my reading experience miserable. I know I'm supposed to root for strong female characters, especially when the traditional gender dynamics are flipped, but it was simply that I disliked her personality, not the situation of her being the Dom. I'm so sad, I love Kate Pearce.

The conclusion to the Sinners Club series left me conflicted.

On one hand, it’s once again a well written, wonderfully emotional and turbulent story of two unconventional characters balancing their complicated personal and professional relationships, while struggling with family issues and mystery long overdue for being solved.

On the other, the palpable chemistry that usually burns bright between Kate Pearce’s characters seems to be missing somewhere in the story.

Perhaps it’s a case of “it’s not you, it’s me”; I’m going to be upfront, some of the aspects of Diana and Alistair’s D/s relationship wasn’t really my cup of tea. The sex scenes were of course marvelously sexy and naughty in the best kind of way, but there were moment were I just couldn’t really get into them. I’m not oppose to femdom stories, and there were scene that truly touched me – especially the ones where Diana’s took care of Alistair after particularly emotional moments in the story - but there were ones when I wasn’t convinced the main couple is destined to be together.

Both Alistair and Diana were great character, however. They both had a lot of depth to their personalities, and (and it might sound weird) I actually liked that Alistair was not afraid to admit that Diana could very well just move on from their relationship and that she didn’t need him – or any man – to survive in the world. Still, this also made me think he felt he needed Diana more than he wanted her in his life. That in a way, their romantic relationship and later marriage wasn’t fully what either of them really wanted.

That brings me to the ending. It felt rushed and somewhat hollow despite being really emotionally charged.

I’m still conflicted how to rate Mastering a Sinner , but what I’m certain of is that I’ll definitely read more from this author.

Should come with a rape trigger warning, as there's at least one scene that is straight up rape scene draped with a veil of consensual sex, and at least 2 others that are borderline rape. i get that rape fantasy is a thing, but this didn't feel like that- it felt like a dude being forced to do things he wasn't comfortable with under the guise of being made to submit. So yeah. Besides that, writing is good, but storyline felt all over the place. he has a wife?? i had no idea until the last quarter. i couldn't follow a lot of the story lines, either because I'm stupid or because they're written poorly.

Based on other reviews, I'll probably check out more of her books, but otherwise would not be tempted to read any more of her stuff based on this one book.

This is a sexy, loving, just tortured enough romance between a passionate, patient, loving femdom and a strong, devoted man who finds true fulfillment in his devotion (and a fair dose of masochism thrown in). Both characters and their motivations are compelling and so is their sometimes torturous (double entendre very much intended) journey toward true trust and intimacy.

Not sure why people who dislike femdom bother reviewing this (I don't go around reviewing all the many, many, endlessly ubiquitous variations of femsub one finds throughout all subgenres of romance, despite how downright triggering and squicky I personally find it; YKINMKBYKIOK).

At some points in this book I hated it. At others, I disliked it. And finally I was repulsed by the twisted presentation of sexuality.
I have no problem with BD/SM, fetishes, or kink. But I could never buy into the contradictory behavior of the hero. His motivation for WANTING to be degraded, humiliated, physically hurt, and made to obey only made sense about half of the time. I understand sexual submission, but his abasement was distasteful.

I liked the first book in this trilogy. And the second book was OK. This third book was crappy.

if I knew ….

I read this one since having read the first 2 in the series. I enjoyed the first two books, but this one…. This book was just so bad, if you don’t count the handfuls of cliffhangers or untold stories… just the whole deal with Alister and Diana,.. Gesh I don’t mind a little kink, but this was crazy. The whole concept of her domination and what occurred was insane … not a well rounded book, too many open end items and poor character development is all that is one the pages…

Can’t recommend

Meh. Didn't hate it, but I didn't really like the heroine much and wasn't really intrigued by either storyline. Also, the femdom thing does nothing for me in general (and I'm good with bdsm and such), but I really can't even try to enjoy it when she's mostly just a bitch and doesn't deserve the guy's trust (which is essential in these relationships).

This one didn't work for me, but may for others into this particular type of story.

There is something that I really like about this series. The Sinner's club is an exclusive club for British spies. This story is about secretary Alister & the hiring of the lady's secretary, Lady Theale and her secret that she has come to discouver the truth about. Of course Madame Helene's always makes an appearance for meetings etc.

Mastering a Sinner by Kate Pearce
Book #3: The Sinners’ Club Series
Source: Purchase
My Rating: 4½/5 stars
My Review:

Alistair Mclean has spent the majority of his life picking up after his no-account brother, Harry. Harry’s life is a mess and he has no problem using his friends and his family to get what he wants. What Harry wants is a life without responsibility, uninhibited sexual encounters and, wealth without having to work for it. Really? Isn’t that what everyone wants?? Unfortunately, Harry has yet again made a royal mess of his life and as always, he has come to Alistair to bail him out.

Alistair Mclean is one of the newest members of the Sinners’ Club staff. He is secretary to the founding members and leaders of the Club and takes his job very seriously. Alistair is a trusted member of the staff and enjoys his job but Harry’s continual antics are once again threatening the life Alistair is building for himself. Aside from the income and security of a job, the Sinners’ also provides Alistair with an outlet for his own particular sexual proclivities, an environment without fear of judgment or punishment.

Diana, Lady Theale is new to the Sinners’ Club and as the lady’s secretary she has more than just her job on her mind. Diana is driven by one thing and one thing only, determining who her biological parents are and no matter who she has to manipulate, she will discover the truth. Though the title Lady implies Diana is a member of the upper class, her background suggests something very different. Abandoned by her parents and left to her own devices, Diana spent a great deal of her life in a brothel where she learned a great deal about herself, others and, the world in general. Though she was married (it’s how she got the title after all) Diana has never been in love and doesn’t expect to be so until the moment she meets Alistair Mclean. Alistair appeals to every illicit bone in Diana’s body and his willingness to submit to her only increases her desire to have him. Unfortunately, outside of the bedroom, Alistair is frustratingly diligent in his job and suspect of Diana and her intentions toward the members of the Sinners’ Club.

On two seemingly different paths, Diana continues in her efforts to find out the identity of her parents and Alistair continues to fight his urge to help his brother. Both Alistair and Diana are on a path to heartache and it doesn’t take long before they figure out that they don’t necessarily have trust each other in order to help each other. What surprises both is the trust that does eventually grows between the two and the feelings that naturally follow in the wake of the trust. Diana’s quest is fulfilled to both her surprise and her satisfaction and Alistair is able to, with the help of Diana and the Sinners’ to disentangle himself from his brother’s miserable life. The cost to Alistair is very high and though he knows his employers will come to his aid if asked, he is quite surprised to see Diana by his side when push comes to shove.

The Bottom Line: Though I was desperately hoping Mastering a Sinner would finally be Adam’s story I was totally satisfied with this read. Alistair was introduced in the preceding book (Tempting a Sinner) and was an instantly endearing character. Alistair has spent his life in the service of others, be it his country or his family and he is deservedly tired of fixing his brother’s problems. Alistair’s decision to cut ties with his brother is too little too late and unfortunately for Alistair, the consequences are extremely painful, quite public and, somewhat humiliating. Diana is a harder character to get behind and like but once she pulls her head out of her ass and fully appreciates what she has with Alistair, she becomes far more agreeable. Diana’s stubbornness and extreme determination damn-near cause her to lose everything including the one man who can love her and accept her for who and what she is. As always, both old and new characters alike make appearances, the plot is totally engaging and, the naughty bits are on the slightly kinky side and totally entertaining. Three books in and The Sinners’ Club series is still as hot as the first read and has, totally and completely made me its bitch 

Book #3 in Sinners Club series. London, 1828. Alternating, 3rd POV. Character relate to House of Pleasure series. Submissive Male, dominatrix Female. Erotica. Historical romance. Mystery. Sex club. Degradation act during D/s scene. Taming a reluctant sub. Pegging.

Poor formatting. No TOC, partition between chapter. Tough i got the review copy, it would be more pleasant if the formatting well done. It disturbed my reading experience.

First thing i've taken interest in this book is the Adam Fisher-Harry Maclean relationship. I was curios about the nature of their relationship. To the point, i googled their name, hoping there is some book that would explain the two of them. And i found known. Feel free to inform me if there is a book that hinting their past relationship. Now now, i was aware that the main character for the book is not them. But, the way author brought out their issue right in first chapter was simply begging to be asked for the Harry-Adam standalone. Like she really wants to retell their story. She did a good job at that. I have more interest in Harry rather Alistair at the beginning of the book.

The book sets in London 1800s. This impact in the grammar and language type the story being told. Honestly, this is not a favorable language style for me. Not as bad as what hystorical romance book used, but still not comfortable to read for me.

A bit taste of mystery, again regarding Harry. I love that the MCs didnt meet in the first chapter. Tough this is considered as a rather short novel, Mastering a Sinner plot surely flows rather slowly. This is one of those novel which build on an elaborate storyline with pasable character. The character didnt give a contribution to the story excitement level.

This is my first time reading a D/s story where the s is a male. Quite curious at that, but not much excited. I prefer dominant male after all. And i just cant understand how a woman could be the dominant if in the end she let the sub fuck her. Well.. It is different, to read a woman mind as sexual predator toward a blushing man. I used to the opposite reaction.

"His pale skin flushed, and he looked away from her. Idly, she wondered if the rest of his body reacted in the same way."

Sheep-gut condom, tied in the base. This is the most amusing thing i've read in historical romance.

If you look at the pretty bookcover, you would assume that the Sinner is the lady in the cover. So Mastering a Sinner would implied a D/s relationship where the lady in cover be the one being mastered. It is one of the reason why i applied to R2R the book. Boy, was i so wrong. Personally i think the cover should not reveal a woman, or if must, reveal a woman from the front rather than back. The woman back gave me illussion of an implied submissive.

"But you don’t really want Lady M to master you, do you? You expect her to give you what you want on your terms.”
“You pretend to submit, but you don’t actually intend to let go of your control."

Oh yeah, I finally finished the new Kate Pearce and there is a single word for it: Hot! She did it again and I love her for it. I got it from Netgalley for an honest review.

Honestly, I haven’t read all of the Sinners series yet, only #0,5 “The First Sinners” which I loved and yes, I know already that I will spend time with “The Sinners Club” (#1) and “Tempting a Sinner” (#2) during my Christmas break because when I read Kate Pearce I want to have all the time I need to finish it in one piece. Right at the moment it means reading on public transport (because I love Stana Katic’s alternative travel project #atp) and this isn’t very satisfying if it comes to her novels. I know, first world problems.
Anyway, the story is rather easy.

Alister Maclean is the older son of a Scottish family. His mother and sisters still live up north while he and his brother, who constantly works against the family, live in London. Maclean works for the Sinners Club as a secretary and really likes his job. The sinners club is near the Pleasure House and he frequents it from time to time because he has a special desire – to be dominated.

His female counterpart Lady Diana Theale starts to work for the females of the Sinner’s Club in the beginning of the book. She’s a very young widow who married a guy to get a title and because he didn’t want to pay for her in the Pleasure House anymore. The marriage wasn’t a happy one but she dealt with it. He has a step son – Nico – who also plays a part in the storyline towards the end. Nevertheless Diana has a past she has to protect.

One day Maclean meets a young woman on the streets, they ride in a carriage together where he pulls out a gun. This young lady who hides well under her lace tells him that she wants something from his brother …

There are different storylines that come together at the end. One is the past of Diana, she has to deal with because she wants to find something out about her past, her parents, nevertheless she was on the streets before she worked at the Pleasure House. On the other side its about Alister’s brother who doesn’t give a shit about his family and even signs a debt certificate in Alisters name just because he didn’t give him money anymore. And than there is the sub/dom relationship between Diana and Alister. Of course I liked the last best

Diana isn’t a typical dominatrix, I’d say because she cares more about her pleasure than Alister’s sometimes. On the other hand she knows exactly how far she can go. However in my opinion there is no love involved – passion yes, lust of course but I didn’t read about love. Of course they care for each other because of their relationship – anyway, they never talk of love at all.
What I like about Kate Pearce’s novels is that she knows that she can go as far as she wants to and readers like me will love the books. I am happy that there was no classical mmF or mMf or stuff like that involved because I don’t care for threesomes.

Why all the story? Because she did it again. She made me read every single minute I had and I more or less breathed in the story and that doesn’t happen with a lot of writers the way it is with Kate.
