Keep at it, champ. We’re counting on you.
Those are my parents’ famous last words every time I step onto the stage for a show.
No matter how exhausted I am. No matter how close my body is to failing me. No matter how much I wish I could just stop it all and take a breath.
But I can’t. Because they need me. It’s not about me. It’s about them.

Sienna Stone is the pop-star. She’s that girl, except behind closed doors she’s struggling to maintain her health. Chronic Lymes & co-infections are wreaking havoc on her body, but nobody is noticing (or seems to care). Not her parents, that are also her awful managers. It’s not like she’s telling people about it anyways.
That is until Xavier Hendricks comes into the picture. Dax Thatcher (see my review of book 1 in this series for my thoughts on my Dax!) hooks Sienna up with X as her new bodyguard & basically, he helps her take back her life as he accompanies Sienna on tour. Maybe they fall in love, maybe not. I dunno, it is a romance novel after all.
But seriously, T.D. Colbert has done a beautiful job of showing how Lymes especially can have a severe effect on daily life. It’s raw & real. My heart just ached for Sienna as she daily would push through her pain to please others. How beautiful to watch her take her life back.
I don’t know if we will get a book 3 in the East to West series, but I would certainly not be mad if we did!

Up In Lights ⭐📚ARC REVIEW📚⭐

I received this book as an Arc in turn for my honest review. this is the first book (but not the last) that I've read from T.D. Colbert. the first page of the book it seemed as if Sienna was having a panic attack but it turned out that it was likely that she got dehydrated and has passed out after leaving the stage. I didn't really like how her mom treated her throughout the book since it seemed as if she would push her until she was exhausted. it was as if her best wasn't good enough. I read this as an ebook so there weren't any page numbers but, loc. 75 is what reminds me of how her mom thinks of her, "it always makes me laugh when my parents point out the "big stars" of the present. my first single went viral on the internet when I was fourteen. I signed my first deal at fifteen, and since then, every album I've put out has gone platinum. every single has reached the U.S. Top 20, and every music video I've released has over 200 million hits. it's been nine years. but I guess I'm not "big" enough yet. because as my mother always endearingly points out, the lights can always go out."
this book has spice, an age gap relationship, and lots of romance!
Sienna is a very famous music artist and she's secretly struggling with her chronic illness and exhaustion from being pushed too hard. she puts herself through so much just to try to make her parents proud. it definitely seemed like it was love at first sight.
near the beginning of the book we got to meet Xavier for the first time and reading Sienna’s reaction to seeing him for the first time was really cute. X is a very good and strong bodyguard and definitely takes his job seriously. but with Sienna, everything goes out the window professionally. all he wants to do is keep her safe and keep her to himself. he's hired to make sure Sienna is safe and taken care of for her upcoming tour. X was surprisingly a very good man towards Sienna and she definitely deserved to have someone to care for her. like I said in the beginning, her parents don't seem to care about her at all and that's very disappointing since parents are supposed to take care of you, love you, cherish you, and be proud of you no matter what. this was a very cute story to read and I definitely recommend. I loved this story! I read it within a couple hours after work. Great read to settle in for the night.
Karmina is wonderful! A true light in the darkness of Sienna's family/team prior to meeting Dax and Xavier. She cares so much for Si when her parents only see her for her money and fame. I bet her shakes and snacks would be delicious in real life!
Dax and Shay are the best parents Si could ask for, unlike her real parents. The second meal they make being GF and everything for Si, it just shows how much they care while her parents don't appear to show any caution towards her illness and sensitivities to certain foods.
Si's dad seems to care towards the middle of the story though, while being afraid to speak up against his wife (Si's witch-of-a-mom). At first, he does appear money hungry and negligent, like her mom though, so you have to look passed that to see the small side that cares. There's nothing really good to say about her mom, to be honest. She's a down right awful parent, and manager. Working her own daughter like a machine that pumps out money without regard for her wellbeing, physically and mentally.
Si's interactions with the kids, especially Cleo and the two sisters from one of the meet-and-greets, is adorable! She does so well with them, and they love her too, especially Cleo.
When they find the mystery flower man, oh my! We love a protective man, willing to do anything for his girl's safety. And X standing up to her parents/managers for her health, we love that for Si. She deserves him, someone who cares for her genuinely.
Chapter 14!!!!! I'm dying! I cried when they finally say "ILY." He cares so much!! I wish we got X's perspective too.

If you want a sweet and spicy age gap quick read, look no further than this book!
Xavier and Sienna, man what can I say other than I loved these two together. I wanna say it was kinda an insta love with them but not really, if that makes sense lol.
Sienna is a world famous singer. Top of her game but what the world doesn’t know is she is hiding her chronic illness. To read about what she puts herself through every single day and performance was mind blowing. I felt so bad for her. You would think with her parents being her management team they would help her take time for herself and get better and get her illness under control but no! I gotta say I hated her parents since the very beginning, like page 1! But her dad did kinda redeem himself at the end.
So with her parents(her mother), pushing her to do the next big thing to keep her(them), at the top, she gets to work with one of her idols.
This is when we get to meet Xavier for the first time. And I gotta say reading Sienna’s reaction to him was super cute. X is the best of the best when it comes to being a bodyguard and keeping clients safe. So he is hired to help out Sienna on her next tour. This man was so sweet, I was not expecting him to be so caring and sweet when it came to Sienna. But I loved it so much as she needed someone like that in her life for once since her parents never seemed to care about her just what money she brings in for them.
Like I said this was such a sweet but spicy love story to read. Well written when it comes to the FMC’s chronic illness and everything she has to go through.

Sienna is one of the world’s most famous singers and even tho she’s at the top she feels like no one really sees her. While running around the world, she’s also been running herself into the ground and not being able to care for herself properly. She’s finally on break and gets invited to write a duet with one of her idols Dax. They decide to meet in secret so her management team aka her parents don’t hover. Dax sends over his old friend and top security man Xavier to pick her up and deliver her safely. After the meeting Xavier realizes that Sienna’s security is lacking and she should hire a full team for her upcoming tour. He takes her on as a client and becomes her top bodyguard. He cares for her during the tour and everything that comes along with her. He makes sure her safety comes before everything else, even her parents. Slowly she begins to break out of the chain her parents have her on and she falls for X the same way he falls for her, but when her health comes into question there’s a bigger decision to be made. Does she risk her health to keep everyone around her happy or does she risk losing her name up in lights to care for herself and her love X?
This was such a beautiful story and I love how the love between these two grows into so much more. The way he was there for her through everything and stood up for her when she wouldn’t even stand up for herself was amazing and slowly Sienna started to stand up for herself because she knew X had her back no matter what. These two made my heart soar and I loved their story.

A story about fame, illness, manipulation, control love, sense and sensibility.
Sienna Stone is a world known singer. Has plenty of talent and works very hard. Touring seems endless and suffering Lymes disease is physically destructive, but it is also her secret. Can be selfish and yet weak willed at times, surrendering to having no choice, but actually no backbone to say no.
Her parents are her managers, but it is overbearing at times, especially her mother who has as much empathy as a rock. Rail roads over everyone and everything. Money worshipping and publicity driven. Didn't like either and couldn't understand why Sienna allowed them to be so controlling.
X is her saviour, the older but sensitive bodyguard. He recognised exactly what she needs, and when. His interaction with her mother is interesting. As their relationship develops, his interest is deeper than simple protecting her from fans and harm.
It has it's good moments, its better moments, up and downs, highs and lows. The characters are well defined. X was consistent, Sienna was indecisive at times, her cook and doctor were her stability. Interesting to see how it all plays out and how Sienna finally takes a little control of herself.

Up In Lights was my first read by T.D. Colbert and it will not be my last. In this book we meet Sienna a young and popular music star with overbearing parents/managers who are pushing her to the breaking point. Sienna suffers from chronic Lyme disease and Colbert does a great job of writing the challenges that come with having a chronic condition coupled with the stressors of Sienna's high octane job.
When she meets and hires X(Xavier) for her security team she is instantly aware of her attraction for him, but again Colberts excellent writing gives us a glimpse of the bond and friend other they form. I really enjoyed getting to know each of them through her writing. X is protective and caring and moves heaven,earth and her parents in order to protect her even from herself.
Ultimately, Sienna hits a breaking point. You sense it coming the whole book and Colbert writes it so well. It had me on the edge of my seat waiting for the other show to drop.
I can’t recommend this book more. If you love a romantic,protective here, and a found family then this book is for you. And who doesn’t love a Little Rock and roll romance fairy tale? I know I do!

X is a CEO of a security company and is friends with Dax, Siennas mentor. He meets her and immediately wants to take care of and be with her.
The relationship between Sienna and X from the beginning is electric, sweet and protective. Sienna wants to make everyone happy, while X wants to keep her healthy. How they navigate life's demands was engaging and I devoured this book in a day.
The chronic illness rep was written in a way that it developed and evolved this endearing story of two people coming together.

I absolutely loved this story from start to finish.
The level of passion that went into writing Xavier and Siennas story was amazing. The health aspects alone are written with care and a detail that is so well done.
I loved their story so much. In a world where Sienna isn’t seen for anything more than her fame/fortune by those around her, Xavier breathes life into her and helps her find herself outside of what others want from her. I loved their chemistry/passion and felt it through all the turmoil of Sienna’s everyday life.
I also loved seeing the characters from the first book. They were such a big part, with them being the ones to introduce these two.
I wanted to smack a couple characters a couple times but that’s to be expected!
I can’t wait to read more of Taylor’s writing!

Sienna and Xavier were so good together! This book made me feel everything. I felt so sorry voor Sienna, the way her parents treated her as an object and money-maker was sickening. It makes me sick when I think about artists being pushed so hard to perform and go beyond all their limits. I sincerely hope that stars perform because it gives them energy and because they want it themselves and enjoy it and not because managers force them to keep going.
I love a age gap trope and this was was good! Xavier was so sweet and so protective and caring! Loved him so much! I found it refreshing to read about an MC with a chronic illness, this is actually rare and that is a shame because I prefer to read something close to reality. It was a great read!

T.D. pens a beautiful story filled with emotion. I felt connected to the characters. Because of this connection, I was more invested in the story. This book was a quick read.
The connection between Xavier and Sienna felt natural. They are lovely together. I am so glad that Sienna has X. He is Sienna's protector, and he sees the "real" Sienna. With him around, Sienna is able to let loose and be herself without the guilt of her father.
When X and Sienna would become intimate it was both hot and cathartic I believe for Sienna. It was like she and X needed that physical connection and I felt it.

This was one of the sweetest books I’ve read in a long while. Up In Lights was about a young woman who hit stardom in her early teens with a song that went viral on the Internet. As the years passed, she ended up being the biggest name in the music industry, and she longed for a break due to her illness. A chance encounter with meeting an older more seasoned performer in the music industry set the wheels in motion without knowing about it to meet the person that would be there to protect her, from the fans, the paparazzi, her parents, and even herself. This book had steam, sensuality, and sweetness aplenty.

T. D. Colbert has a special talent for writing great spice. This book is about superstar Sienna Stone, who deals with Lyme disease and the other co-diseases that can come with it. Taylor does a good job portraying the reality of Lyme disease and how it impacts the person's day to day. Sienna's bodyguard, Xavier Hendricks doesn't blink twice at the extra care Sienna must take to support her Lyme disease. He is there to protect her, take care of her, and make sure she is safe. Oh... and the tension is HOT!

received this book as an ARC and was interested to see the author would write about chronic illness. I loved the way that it was woven into the story and not just touched on here and there.

There was a roller coaster of emotions with pain, heartbreak, love and a dash of spice. I loved these two together and found it hard to put the book down!

I read this in 24 hours because I couldn’t stop! Sienna and Xavier have such a true love story. Life is hard… health, family, jobs…. All of the hard ups and downs are in this story and Sienna and X have every trial to work through and multiple times too! There is so much sweet love and some definite spice too! You can absolutely feel the love that X has for Sienna in this book! Love how it is shows the friendships with Shay and Dax too!

Xavier and Sienna are such a power couple.
The care Sienna receives from X is unmatched. His concern is obvious but not overcrowding. He gives her the support that she well deserves and protects her from her toxic parents and her stalker.
I also learnt so much about Lyme's Disease from this book.
If you want a nice paced read with a protective(in a moderate way)male character and a female character who finds her family outside of direct relations then Up in Lights is just right.

I really enjoyed getting into Siennas head during this book, the pain she endured during book was well documented. The added suspence brought a really nice layer of intrigue to the story. Couple of minor criticisms I have are the book is bit short and I wish we as readers got to see the coversations with her parents towards the end.

Emotional read.
Sienna may be a pop star on top of her world, but she needs Xavier to bring her safely down. These two were touching to see come together. Sienna is battling hidden scars and X is just the guy to help protect her.

This book drew me right in. X was such a hot, swoony bodyguard that quickly becomes so much more for Sienna. Love a strong, possessive MMC and Xavier was perfect. He's so protective of his "Superstar" and I really enjoyed how emotional this book was. This was my first read by T.D. Colbert but it definitely won't be my last!

I really enjoyed reading this book. The way Sienna and Xaviers relationship grew and bloomed was lovely to watch happen. He treats her as every man should treat the woman he loves, with firece protection and devotion, always making sure her needs are met, even before she realizes it. The spice was there and did not disappoint.

The book was mehh for me... nothing special or significant that makes me remember the book or the characters. It did feel sudden how they got together tho

This book burrowed right down deep into my heart! X is incredible in how he cares for Sienna, and I felt their connection to my core. They are sweet and spicy perfection! I cannot recommend this book more. An absolute, 100%, top-rec, must-read book!

This one was completely amazing! That was so beautiful, sweet, and spicy! I really enjoyed Si and X… To be honest I would love another book of them. It ended perfect, but there is still room that can be more in my opinion. So I will keep my fingers crossed!

Sienna is a strong woman with a disease that is making her life hard but doesn’t stop her. Not only is she battling that but also her obsessive parents.
X is the strong, loving man who wants to do nothing but help her and protect her.
Love this read. You will laugh and cry and fall in love with both Sienna and X. Couldn’t put this book down. Enjoy

This was a great story, I loved how X took care of Si from the get go. The story kept me wanting to read, and not put it down. I’ll definitely read more from this author!
