Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
Charlotte Weaver, Fairy Godmother and, at this present time, rather lost, is trying her best to keep herself, and her 3 companions, alive, as they navigate a set of caves and tunnels that Charlotte believes to be a special place, where heroes go on quests.
Unfortunately, Detective Alex Taylor seems to have fallen under a kind of sleeping spell, that Charlotte believes only causes humans any trouble, as her other two companions, Sir Thomas, sometimes known as Puss in Boots, and Cat, who is a cat who Charlotte magically turned into a Dog, by accident, and lboth seem unaffected by the magic imbued tunnels.
But Charlotte realises that she's going to have to split their team, as Alex, put in a magical cocoon, to keep him safe while he lies unconscious, is unable to pass beyond a certain cavern.
So Charlotte goes on further, taking Cat, the Newfoundland Dog with her, while leaving Alex in the care of Sir Thomas.
The whole of this book is spent with the four companions within the caverns and tunnels, as Charlotte does her best to win the challenges she's being put under.
But it's only towards the end, that something happens, which helps Charlotte realise that not all is as it seems, and this creates a real problem for her, and her missing friends.
This was a good read, but I couldn't in all honestly give it a 5 mark, as the journey that Charlotte took was so long, and drawn out, I began to lose focus.
I'm really hoping that the next book, Book Seven: 'Spells, Wishes, and Retribution', has a lot more going on about it, so that the story doesn't drag, so I'll be going on to read it right now and, once I've finished reading it, I'll catch you on the flip side, to let me know what I think about it!
Charlotte and Cat are working their way through the questing cave, having left Thomas to watch over Alex. They are hoping that they can discover what is causing the earthquakes that they have been experiencing, and along the way they have quite a few battles to fight. Once again another action filled edition to the Spells and Wishes series, and I am excited for the next book to continue the adventure.
