The beauty of the speech was immediately recognized, Frederick Douglass declared that the speech "was a sacred effort." What a wonderful tribute this is. Mr. Levin has orchestrated this small masterpiece by linking Civil War era photographs and images with the compelling words of Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln's Second Inaugural Address was concise and to the point, utilizing marvelous words rather than drowning his audience in useless verbiage. Script writers of our modern day should take note; less is often more.
My hat is off to Mr. Levin for providing the reader with a suitable framework for Lincoln's amazing address. This book will have timeless appeal. Thank you, Sir.
This is an excellent little book about the importance of Lincoln's second inaugural address. It has beautiful artistry and pictures and the full text of the speech. "Malice for none; charity for all..."

(Before I say anything else, I must say the preface could have been much shorter, as in not existed at all.)
Such a powerful book packed into a few pages. The speech is arguably one of the greatest, most concise inaugural speeches in our nation's history - delivered by our (NOT arguably, he just is, sorry I'm not sorry) greatest president. The illustrations throughout were beautifully crafted and everyone should read these powerful words and be reminded that the sacrifices of the Civil War should never be forgotten. Without them, our nation might never have become whole again.

A very short book of about 60+ pages, Jack E. Levin presents the text of Lincoln's second Inaugural address. Each page of the book presents part of the speech along with photographs and illustrations from the Civil War era. Considered by many to be Lincoln's greatest speech, Levin presents it in the context of what was happening at the time and what may have influenced the President.
Several months after delivering the address Lincoln was shot, the man who killed him, John Wilkes Booth was actually among the crowd that heard this speech. The conspiracy already well underway.
I ordered a limited edition signed copy of Malice Toward None. The book is beautiful and makes me wish that I could have learned history in this way during school. It draws you in and makes you interested to know more. Whereas most of history classes in school just run dates, names and events across you in a rather dull fashion.
The illustrations and period-photos are great. The font is interesting too.
What a lovely little book! The father of my idol, Mark Levin, truly outdid himself with this pretty little thing. Abraham Lincoln's best speech is set out in the best of ways, with plenty of colorful photographs, drawings, and illustrations to go with it. A must-have for the bookshelf of any Mark Levin, Jack Levin, or American history fan.:)

This is a concise book into the history of the Second Inaugural Address. I found the writing and visuals to be a great explanation of the feel of the time period. With those for a bent for studying history this is a great book in which to gain an understanding of this event.

The commentary and photos in this book add to the wise words given at what was an intense time for a war-weary country. Every word was precise and meaningful and solemn.
