259 books1,117 followersLincoln Peirce is a cartoon artist from Portland, Maine. He lives with his wife and two children, and occasionally gives lectures to students about cartoon creating. Peirce writes the comic strip "Big Nate". Peirce's comic strip, Big Nate, is featured as an island on the famous children's website, Poptropica. Big Nate appears as the first cartoon on The Maine Sunday Telegram in the comics section.
He studied art at Colby College in Maine were he began cartooning. He also studied at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture before teaching art and coaching basketball at a New York highschool for 3 years. He currently plays hockey with "an old men's league" and describes it as his best sport as a child. In an interview with the Washington Post, Peirce stated that his last name is pronounced "purse" and is not a misspelling of "pierce."
Lincoln Peirce was a member of the "Surviving as a Print Cartoonist" Panel at the Maine Comics Art Festival with fellow cartoonists Corey Pandolph (Barkeater Lake, Toby: Robot Satan, The Elderberries), Norm Feuri (Retail, Gill) and with Mike Lynch moderating. On the panel Lincoln revealed he is currently working with some animation and licensing projects including the addition of a Big Nate island to the online game Poptropica.

In the newest book in the “Big Nate” series, Nate Wright has to deal with many new adventures in middle school, including making a book report on “The Cheerleader Chronicles,” bringing his neighbor’s dog, Spitsy, to school as an emotional support dog, and even making an advice column called “Ask the Genius.”
I love the “Big Nate” comics, and this might just be my favorite comic collection in the series.
The jokes still land, the illustrations only get better with every book, and these books are always relatable.
If you’re a fan of the “Big Nate” books, I would HIGHLY recommend this book to you.

I wish that these would give the dates of original publication of the strips at the very beginning; I'll check the finished copy, because the dates are usually there.
My students (and I!) are HUGE fans of Big Nate, and until I stopped getting the physical newspaper for environmental reasons, I would bring the newspaper to school so they could catch up on the daily strip. Now that USA Today has dropped the strip from their newspapers (GRRR) I will DEFINITELY buy all of these collections.
Even though Nate has been in middle school for over 25 years, these strips still are funny and get to the heart of the middle school experience. This includes one of my favorite plot arcs: Nate borrows his sister's Cheerleader Chronicles book because he has a book report due the next day, and stays up all night reading and reviewing. This book has been mentioned in several other strips, since Nate still wants to read the books and find out what's happening.
The paperbacks stay together surprisingly well as long as I cover them with clear plastic sticky paper, but I'm going to splurge and get this in prebind!

Another knock out of the park for Peirce. I don’t know how there are so many new storylines for Nate even when the overall themes are familiar. We get that most wonderful time of the year, back to school, as well as Halloween, School Picture Guy, and detention. But we also get Nate writing a graphic novel for math, him joining the school newspaper to write and advice column, and getting tripped up by a bad horoscope. And someone very surprising makes an apology.

all the things that were in this book were in all the other books so it’s not very unique. I think that the author of this book should maybe think of another thing to write about. Although i think it is funny.

"My favorite part is when Nate's dad buys healthy snacks for Halloween instead of candy. I thought it was funny. I don't think we should buy healthy snacks for Halloween this year. It was also funny when he didn't get enough sleep. He started hallucinating!"
