For fifteen years or more, my wife and I have dreamed and imagined and even planned a way to Europe, and now we’re going—and we’re taking our nine-year-old daughter! I think nine is the perfect age to begin more worldly travel and these DK guidebooks (strongly suggested by my German friend) are perfect guide books to not only give you great ideas about where to go and what to see and do, but also to entice you to travel more. After reading over 100 pages of this guidebook, I feel like I have a much better sense for the history and culture of the places in Germany we plan to go—and I have found so many other places that we just don’t have to time to go to (including Köln!). But that’s just fine. That just gives us more reasons to travel back to Europe for a second, third, fourth, fifth time. So many places to see, cultures to explore, and languages to learn! (I also bought the DK German phrase book!)
