Just one moment was all it took to reveal decades of secrets and lies. As the truth begins to unfold, there are two important questions to consider: Who can you trust? And how far would you go to protect your family legacy?

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me this arc in exchange for an honest review.

3.5⭐️

I love BriAnn dowwwwn. But this wasn’t a favorite for me. It didn’t feel like a normal BriAnn book coming from an avid reader of hers. Something was missing.

This book follows sisters Hazel, Teyona, and Mia as they face the consequences of their father’s past, uncovering long-buried secrets and confronting danger together. The mystery and thriller elements were engaging, keeping me invested in solving the case, and I loved the Black family background in pharmaceuticals. The dynamic between the sisters, despite their complicated relationship with their father, was a PLUS—Hazel stood out as my favorite because of her independence and refusal to seek his approval. LOVE THAT FOR HER!

Additionally, the ending felt rushed, and the minor characters lacked development, making them somewhat forgettable.

Overall, while I enjoyed the suspense and strong female leads, a few missing elements—such as better timeline organization and deeper character exploration—kept this from being a favorite.

Thanks NetGalley and Black Odyssey Media for this ARC!

Thank you to Black Odyssey Media and Netgalley for the free e-book.

This was an interesting story that had me guessing throughout, trying to figure out who was behind everything happening to these sisters. I guessed a few things correctly, and a couple of others surprised me.

In this story, we follow 3 sisters as their world begins to unravel because of the secrets of their parents. Mia is the medical career sister who's also afraid to speak up for herself and does whatever their insufferable father wants, choosing to view him through rose colored lenses. Hazel is the artistic sister who sees their father for exactly who he is and takes no shit. She's determined to make her own way in the world and be the black sheep while loving her mother fiercely. Teyona is the baby of the bunch and is unfortunately stuck constantly seeking validation from their emotionally unavailable father.

Once trouble comes looking for them in separate ways, these sisters much figure out how to stop holding on to secrets and work together to save their family. While I enjoyed the twists and turns, I wish some of the timelines had been made a bit clearer. I liked the multiple pov chapters, but sometimes it felt a bit muddled as the povs would change in the middle of some of the chapters/ paragraphs, and this had the effect of disorientation Also, getting the povs of some of the main characters did help to explain some of their feelings and motivations, but they never truly felt like fully realized people. I would have loved to know more about Hazel's boyfriend and his handling of the blackmail.

Thank NetGalley, BriAnn Danae and Black Odyssey Media for gifting me with this arc in exchange for an honest review.

From the very beginning, I was captivated and couldn’t wait to witness how this mystery would unfold. The narrative takes us on a thrilling journey through a web of abuse, murder, lies, and family secrets.

The sisters’ bond is a central theme of the book. While they may occasionally get on each other’s nerves, their love for one another is undeniable. As strange occurrences begin to disrupt their lives, they start to suspect foul play and embark on a deep dive into their parents’ past. One secret at a time, the truth begins to emerge, shedding light on the dark secrets that have been hidden for years.

Matthew Grant, the father, is a truly despicable character. He is power-hungry, selfish, and controlling, and his actions towards his own daughters are nothing short of disgusting.

My favorite sister is Hazel. From a young age, she possessed an uncanny ability to discern the truth and refused to succumb to the lies and manipulation that surrounded her. BriAnn, the author, has truly outdone herself with this book. The twists and surprises are expertly crafted, keeping the reader engaged and guessing until the very end.

10/10. First book I’ve read by Briann Denae and she did not disappoint! I will definitely be getting her whole catalog after reading this one! The drama, the deceit, the lies, the everything!!

Hazel, Teyona and Mia all had their flaws but they were so loyal to one another. I absolutely loved their relationship. Sisters have to stick together NO MATTER WHAT! The sibling I felt like I related to the most was Teyona. She was an outcast compared to her sisters. And the way her father treated her, I felt that on so many different levels. I wanted to hug her so many times throughout the book. Matthew Grant can go straight to hell!!!

This is exactly what I needed after being in a reading slump and I don’t know if I can read anything else just yet. I have to sit with this one for awhile. This will be placed on my list of rereads. I devoured this book! Mrs Briann Denae, your pen game is top tier!!!!

WOW

The author definitely takes you on a rollercoaster with this story. It had my attention from the very first page. What was done in the past has finally come to light with Mia, Hazel, and Teyona being the pawns in a deadly game of revenge. This story was full of secrets, lies, deceit, and, to a certain extent, loyalty. Just when you thought you had things figured out, the plot twist revealed another connection. Matthew was ruthless and got exactly what he deserved. Im glad Mia Hazel and Teyona were able to move forward with their lives as well as their mother Kimberly. Great read, highly recommend.

This was such an intriguing read!

Loved the sister dynamic and the suspense. It was really well executed. And as someone who doesn't really like mystery kind of things, this was really excellent and had all of the family messiness I wanted there to be. All of the sisters were developped well, and I had a real sense as to who they were as people.

Just all around really excellent writing, really great character work, and a fun read.

I liked the concept of the plot but i did feel like a few of the storylines were underdeveloped. The twist came at the last 10% of the book and everything just ended abruptly for me.

4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️ stars!! Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. This story follows Teyona, Hazel, and Mia and they define what it means to have your sisters’ back, no matter what. Their parents, Matthew and Kimberly, have been hiding secrets for decades, but the past has a way of catching up when you least expect it. As the truth unravels, the Grant sisters refuse to back down, fighting for what’s theirs while navigating betrayal, suspense, and a little bit of drama. With family secrets, unexpected twists, and just the right amount of spice, this thriller kept me hooked and I definitely recommend it!

This was a 3.5 for me.

I requested this book because the synopsis sounded interesting; however, I felt the delivery did not hold up to the intensity of what I was expecting. There were a lot of different storylines that were portrayed throughout the book one being the corporate scheming, another being secrets that the parents had from the past that were coming back to haunt the girls as adults and even somewhat of a love story.

Since there were so many things that were brought up in the book, they each had their own buildup but for me I felt sometimes it dragged and didn't quite flow as easily as I would have liked. The suspense was there but when we find out the motives behind some of the actions that were taking place, to me, I felt like it fell a little flat compared to the buildup that it took to get there. I was happy that the father got what he deserved with how he was acting throughout the book, but there were loose ends with the body situation and the blackmail that was going on.

Additionally, there were moments brought up in the book regarding the personal and professional lives of Hazel and Teyona that I would have liked to see more of because why mention if it it wasn't going to be expanded on. Overall, the book was okay but I think it had too much going on to fully close each loop within the book. Thank you to Black Odyssey Media and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book follows the Grant sisters, Mia, Hazel, and Teyona. We start off with flashback of the sister’s parents and the night that forever changed the way the Grant family. The story has several twist and turns and is suspenseful. I couldn’t understand Mia and her father’s dynamic because ain’t no way I’m gonna act like my Dad ain’t do my mom wrong but push it outta my mind. I couldn’t stand Matthew and the mother, Kimberly, had me side-eying her as well.

I definitely felt the suspense but this also didn’t feel like a normal BriAnn Danae book. I am a fan of her writing but the ending felt a bit rushed and had me re reading because it moved so fast at the end. Also I felt that the name of the book did not match the story. I was expecting something more urban due to the title but it just wasn’t. If you are looking for a fast pace suspense book with a little urban feel you’d definitely enjoy this book.

This book follows three sisters Mia, Hazel, & Teyona who’s going through family issues due to their parents past especially their father. There was a lot of mystery & manipulation going on throughout the story because of the decisions that the father made that caused so much destruction. He owns a very profitable business & Mia is his muse trying to follow his footsteps in the pharmacy. Hazel stood out the most because she didn’t care anything of what her dad said or wanted & nothing Teyona did ever impressed him. I think where the story felt like it lost my interest was because the character development wasn’t there. As soon as the story seemed to all come together at the end it came off very rushed. I enjoyed so many other books by this author & can’t wait to read more from her but this one wasn’t a favorite of mine. Complimentary copy is appreciated & all opinions are all of my own.

The Grant's are a well-known family based in Atlanta due to their success in the pharmaceutical industry.  However, their family dynamics isn't what it is believed to be. Secrets that are prayed to be left in the dark finally come to the light. The question is ... Is the family strong enough to uphold their legacy, and what would you do to uphold it?

Miss Briann Danae has done it again with another banger. I enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it. In my eyes, Briann Danae can do no wrong. I loved the writing so much, it was detailed but straight to the point. I enjoyed all the characters even the ones that didn't deserve it lol.

Abuse, lies, deceit, and greed—who can you trust as family secrets are revealed? What’s done in the dark shall come to light.

I loved the relationship between Mia, Hazel, and Teyona. Despite their flaws and moments of conflict, their bond remained strong. They supported each other through thick and thin.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC!!

I don’t even know where to start with this review. Whew, with a father like Matthew who needs enemies?? Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC!!

Let me start by saying the build up for this was intense and the author did a great job at hooking me in. As the reader, i do think i would have benefited from more of the parents story line and the things they went through before the kids. BriAnn could have given us 100 more pages on them alone.

Talk about a scheme set up by Todd…this book gives sisterhood a new meaning and i felt like i was on the wild ride right along with the Grants.

ARC Review: Jack Girlz Atlanta
Title: Jack Girlz Atlanta
Author: BriAnn Danae
Genre: Women's Crime Thriller, Romantic Suspense, Family Saga, Mystery
Rating: ★★★¼ (3.25/5) | Spice Level: 🌶️ (Hint of Heat/Drama)

The Pour: A Neat Glass of Vengeance-Fueled Chaos
Jack Girlz Atlanta is a high-octane, dramatic pour that takes the concept of "family legacy" and flips it into a corporate scamming, revenge-fueled thriller. We follow the Grant sisters—Mia, Hazel, and Teyona—who are bound by blood but united by a shared need for vengeance against those who destroyed their lives. Set against the backdrop of an elite Atlanta Black family in the pharmaceutical world, this book promises a pulse-pounding dive into secrets, lies, and the absolute limits of sisterly loyalty. While the premise is electric, the execution felt slightly uneven, resulting in a decent but not dazzling sip.

What I Sip and Savored 🥃 (The Smooth Finish)
The parts of this pour that went down well:

🥃 Unbreakable Sisterhood: The central strength of this book is the bond between Mia, Hazel, and Teyona. Despite their individual flaws, their love and loyalty for one another are fierce and undeniable. They are all-in, demonstrating a true, ride-or-die definition of sisterly love and support through thick and thin.
🥃 Despicable Villainy: The father, Matthew Grant, is a perfectly written, power-hungry, and emotionally abusive character. His actions set the stage for the sisters' plot, making the inevitable moment where KARMA catches up to him incredibly satisfying and a major highlight of the book.
🥃 The Suspense Factor: The mystery elements are engaging, full of abuse, murder, lies, and family secrets that kept me guessing who was behind the revenge plot. The book is packed with enough drama to keep the pages turning.
🥃 Hazel, the Black Sheep: Hazel, the independent sister who sees her father's toxicity clearly, stands out. Her refusal to conform and seek his approval was a powerful aspect of the family dynamic.

What I Side-Eyed 🥃 (The Fleeting Jolt)
Unfortunately, the jolt was a little stronger than the smoothness in this pour:

🥃 Pacing and Abrupt Ending: The pacing felt uneven throughout the book. The major twists and reveals were heavily concentrated in the last 10%, causing the climax and subsequent resolutions to feel rushed and abrupt. It lacked the final emotional punch I hoped for.
🥃 Muddled Structure: The shifting of multiple POVs and timelines, sometimes mid-chapter, felt chaotic and muddled the flow of the narrative, making it difficult to maintain a clear sense of the plot's organization.
🥃 Underdeveloped Storylines: Several intriguing plot threads and minor characters (like Hazel's boyfriend) were introduced but never fully explored. I needed more depth to the characters' individual motivations and struggles to make the final sacrifice feel truly realized.

The Finish
Jack Girlz Atlanta is a thrilling women's crime saga with a fantastic premise and a powerful portrayal of sisterhood. While it delivers excellent suspense and an engaging mystery, the structural issues, underdeveloped storylines, and the disappointing, rushed ending prevent it from reaching its full potential. It's a decent read for fans of suspense and drama, but be prepared for a few jolts along the way.

The Perfect Pairing
Pairing: A Spicy Mezcal Cocktail, served with a salt rim and a smoke element. Why? It's intense, unexpected, and full of different, bold players (the smoke/spice) that can be a little overwhelming but ultimately leave a lasting, dramatic impression. Tropes: Women's Crime Thriller, Sisterhood, Revenge Plot, Family Secrets, Murder Mystery.

(I received an advance reader copy of this book from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.)

The Grant Family: A Twisted Tale of Betrayal and Secrets
The drama, the suspense, the spice! It's all here in the story of the Grant family, where a powerful father becomes his own family's worst enemy. This is a man who built his empire from the ground up and will destroy anything and anyone that threatens his business or reputation—even his own family.
* Mia: The eldest and seemingly her father's favorite. Mia, a hospital worker, turns a blind eye to her father's ruthless dealings. He demands she quit her job and work full-time for the family pharmaceutical company, but Mia craves a life outside the family business, a life that includes her boyfriend, Jarel. However, her father threatens to cut her off if she disobeys, and a shocking revelation about Jarel throws her world into chaos.
* Hazel: The rebellious middle child and an artist. Hazel despises her father, convinced he's responsible for her mother's accident. Cut off and desperate for money, she hatches a plan with Mia to steal drugs from their father's company and sell them. But the plan goes terribly wrong when her boyfriend gets caught in the crossfire, and a mysterious figure appears, blackmailing Hazel and threatening to expose the Grant family's darkest secrets.
* Teyana: The youngest, yearning for her father's love and attention. Ignored and neglected, Teyana goes to extreme lengths to earn his affection, but her world is shattered when she becomes the target of sinister threats and finds disturbing messages left on her car.
* Kimberly: The mother, silenced for years by a tragic accident. Trapped in a loveless marriage, Kimberly desperately seeks a way out. But escape is no easy feat, especially when her past resurfaces in the form of a familiar face. Now, she must find the strength to protect her daughters, even if it means revealing her own deeply buried secret.
"Jack Girlz Atlanta" is a drama-filled book, a tangled web of secrets, lies, and hidden motives. Each chapter unravels with shocking twists and turns, leaving you breathless until the very end.

My Thoughts:
While I was captivated by the plot, I agree that more date stamps would have been helpful to establish a clearer timeline. It was also a bit disorienting when the focus shifted between the sisters. Maintaining a consistent structure, perhaps dedicating each chapter to one sister's perspective, could have created a stronger emotional connection and allowed for deeper exploration of their individual struggles.
ALso While the story itself is gripping, I'm left wondering about the title "Jack Girlz Atlanta." It's unclear how it connects to the Grant family and their struggles.

2.5 ⭐️
I received a copy of this novel in a Goodreads giveaway in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you to Black Odyssey media for my gifted copy of this novel. I do appreciate a group who gives new and aspiring writers an opportunity to have their works published and distributed. but yet I just can't go higher than a 2.5 on this.
The Grant family is filled with drama. lies, deception... and highly unlikeable characters (even the ones I think I was supposed to be rooting for). Millionaire owners of the Grant Pharmaceutical group, Matthew and Kimberly have anything but wedded bliss. Matthew is a harsh, critical narcissist and Kimberly is a passive mute who we should consider a victim, but her lies and cheating run just as deep.
Then there are the three daughters Mia, Hazel and Tay. Tay is about the only character I could sympathize with and the only character I enjoyed. All 3 hate their father, yet have this weird dynamic of allowing him to control them... but only at certain times. It is inconsistent and they act basically bi-polar in their relationship with not only him, but their significant others as well. All the while, Mia and Hazel are stealing drugs from the family company and selling them. Basically they are scum as well.
When someone appears to be attempting to blackmail their father and the company, the girls suddenly decide they need to protect their father. It's odd. Their motivations aren't totally clear. Maybe to save their mother, but then they find out she has also been lying the whole time.
The dialogue is pretty good and the story is readable, so those are pros, but the relationships and characters are not well developed and the scenery and descriptions of people/places and emotions are virtually non-existent. I couldn't picture anything of the story in my head because there wasn't much to go on except some generic descriptions (ie. a warehouse, a black vehicle, a woman at the door that she did not recognize, etc).
Lastly, the title. No idea what it means or how it relates to the story, except for Atlanta is the city it takes place in.

This was my first book by BriAnn Danae, and Jack Girlz Atlanta delivered a mix of suspense, family drama, and high stakes. The story follows three sisters—Mia, Hazel, and Teyona—who were born into wealth thanks to their pharmaceutical mogul father. However, their privileged life is anything but perfect. Their father is a heartless tyrant who mistreats two of the three sisters, as well as their mother. He’s a dictator with dangerous secrets, and when his past resurfaces, threatening their mother’s livelihood, the sisters must come together to unmask the truth.

What I Liked:
• The suspense kept me engaged. I found myself asking questions and trying to piece things together about the sisters as I read.
• Each sister had a distinct personality and a unique voice, making them feel like fully realized characters.
• One of my favorite aspects was that the sisters weren’t waiting to be saved—they had to save themselves, using their wit and resilience.

What Didn’t Work for Me:
• The pacing felt off. Given how much time was spent building up the plot and the climax, I was sure there would be a cliffhanger and a sequel. Instead, the majority of the action happened in the last 15% of the book, making it feel rushed for a standalone novel.
• The overuse of the miscommunication trope between the sisters was frustrating. Despite being family, their bond didn’t feel as strong as I expected, making some of their interactions hard to believe.

Overall, Jack Girlz Atlanta had an intriguing premise and strong suspense elements, but the pacing and lack of believable sisterly connection held it back from being a favorite for me. I’d still be open to reading more from BriAnn Danae to see how she handles different storytelling approaches.

The Grant Sisters—Mia, Hazel, and Teyona—are introduced as children overhearing an intense argument between their parents, Matthew and Kimberly. That moment becomes the catalyst for events that will shape their lives in profound ways, revealing how the past can leave a lasting mark on a family. As they grow, the sisters each take their own path, navigating a complicated web of secrets, betrayal, and loyalty.

As someone who doesn’t have sisters, I was drawn to the way this story highlights the complexities of sisterhood. It beautifully captures how three women, raised by the same parents, can turn out so different yet remain deeply connected. Mia, Hazel, and Teyona are relatable in their struggles and triumphs, and their bond is both messy and unbreakable.

Matthew’s manipulation and blatant favoritism create tension that spills over into every part of the family dynamic. His actions spark some of the most shocking moments, and the way his secrets unfold kept me guessing. Every chapter offers new twists, and just when I thought I had it figured out, the story threw me in a completely different direction.

This is a bold, gripping tale of family drama, resilience, and the fight for what you deserve. It’s packed with suspense and heart, leaving you eager to uncover every hidden truth.

Jack Girlz Alanta by Briann Danae is a romantic suspense that follows sisters Hazel, Teyona, and Mia as they navigate the consequences of their father's troubled past. As the sisters uncover long-buried family secrets, they are thrust into a world of danger and intrigue, making for an engaging mystery. I was hooked from page one, and I appreciated the unique Black family background centered around a unique economic background involving a pharmaceutical empire.
I loved the sisterhood and bon within the sister group, despite their own personal challenges they always stuck by each other no matter what and that is true sisterhood. My favorite sister was Hazel, it was as if she was the black sheep of the family because she went against conformity and stood her ground on being her own unique self and I loved that for her
The suspense in this book was thick as fog from beginning to end and I was waiting for more action overall. The ending came abruptly and I felt like there should have been more.
Overall, while I thoroughly enjoyed the suspense and the portrayal of strong female leads, the rushed elements made me lack full enjoyment but I had high hopes going into this read. It’s definitely different from the authors previous works.
3 star rating and I would recommend. Thank You to Black Odyssey Media via Netgalley for providing me with an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

BriAnn Danae has outdone herself again, PER USUAL.
I did not read the synopsis prior to reading the book. I made assumptions based off of the title and cover but I was entirely wrong. This is a totally different genre for this author but it kept me interested and on the edge of my seat the entire time reading.

This book follows three sisters (Mia, Hazel and Teyona) based in Atlanta. Their father owns a pharmaceutical company. The plot surrounds the past coming back to haunt you. Sometimes karma will skip you and hit your children! These sisters don’t know their parents as well as they think and it follows them uncovering family secrets. This book was lowkey a suspense/ slight thriller imo which like I said is a completely different genre for Ms. Briann Danae but nonetheless her writing ate down as always. I love her attention to detail and clear easy to follow writing style. This book was far from predictable. I was questioning everything the entire time. I kept trying to guess and assume where the story was going and by the time I reached the end my jaw was on the floooorrr. I highly highly recommend this book when it releases, and of course I will be purchasing a physical copy. Yall make sure to go support my girl!! 📚🫶🏽💯

ARC Review
Thank you NetGalley and Black Odyssey for the advance copy.

We are first introduced to the Grant Sisters: Mia, Hazel, Teyona, when they are kids listening to an argument between their parents Matthew and Kimberly. The events that happen that night have profound consequences for the girls and their parents, leaving the reader eager to continue to turn the page.

This is a story of sisterhood with a splash of f**k around and find out!! The Grant sisters went after everything they were owed and some. This was full of blurred lines, suspense, family secrets, betrayal, and a sprinkle of spice. I enjoyed reading this so much it put me in the mind of shows like Queen Sugar and Greenleaf. Fast-Paced, bold, and intriguing.

I really enjoyed the suspense of this novel, and the different twist and turns this story took me on. I will say Matthew Grant has enough secrets for his own book 👀. He got exactly what he deserved! I also was a fan of how the story was narrated, and there was really secrets in every chapter keeping you going. As soon as you thought you figured it out, the author surprised you! Again!

If you are fan of family dramas, with a mix of suspense and a whole lot of get back check this one out.

I just don’t feel like the title matched the actual story. Overall, it was decent, but it felt lackluster to me. After the fake boyfriend was revealed and killed, the fiancée family just moved on like nothing happened. They were all about revenge when ole girl was comatose, but once he died, it was like, “Oh well,” and they rode off into the sunset???

All of the sisters felt weak and draining , just in different ways. The whole “dad isn’t the real daddy” plotline didn’t go anywhere either—we only get that final scene of her wearing her biological father’s hat and… that’s it? That’s the big reveal? It didn’t land for me.

Same with the drug-dealing boyfriend storyline—it kind of fizzled out. I just felt like the epilogue didn’t do a good job wrapping things up or giving us real insight into what life looked like after all that trauma.

Also, did the uncle ever give them back the money? Because how are you blackmailing these girls in the name of your “brother,” but not considering how that affects your own niece? Like, sorry, but if you do my sisters dirty, I’m wishing you the worst. It didn’t make sense, and there wasn’t enough follow-up for any of it to feel meaningful.

I didn’t know exactly what to expect walking into Jack Girlz Atlanta, but it wasn’t quite this. This book has been sitting on my TBR for a while, and I’m glad I finally dove in. Briann Danae takes a different direction from what I’m used to from her, and while I appreciate the bold storytelling, I found myself wishing I loved it more than I did.

The suspense was definitely gripping, and I was invested in unraveling the mystery surrounding the Grant family—what exactly was going on, and why their past was resurfacing in such a dangerous way. The twists kept me turning the pages, but the pacing felt uneven in places. The multiple timelines and shifting POVs within the same chapters sometimes felt more chaotic than immersive.

One of Danae’s usual strengths is character development, but here it felt underwhelming. I wanted more time with each character to understand their motivations and struggles. Some plot threads could have been explored further to build more tension and make the final reveal hit harder. When the truth came out, it felt rushed and didn’t deliver the emotional punch I hoped for.

Jack Girlz Atlanta is my first book from this author, and I was beyond excited to read it. It did not disappoint! Hazel, Teyona and Mia are the true definition of sisters and know the true meaning of loyalty when it comes to each other. I enjoyed all 3 of the sisters but I felt my heartstrings pulling for Teyona a little more out of the 3 of them. I wish the author would have given us a little more background regarding them and their parents, but I will say that Matthew is one of a kind in the worst of ways. There was no love in my heart for that man and I don't want to say why because I really don't want to give anything away. I will say that I think that any reader that decides to read this story will not be surprised by how much they enjoy it. This story gave me everything that had me hooked from beginning to end and it left me looking forward to reading more books from this author. It's a story I will be recommending to book loving friends that enjoy some drama, deceit. schemes, secrets, a bit of mystery and more.

When three sisters, Mia, Hazel, and Teyona, find themselves put into a situation, they stick together to find the missing pieces to the puzzle. But what happens when the pieces involve their parents?

I loved the bond the sisters shared, even though they had flaws that one another disliked. I loved how they rode for one another.

This story was very suspenseful, to the point it kept me engaged, wanting to see what was next. There was always something going on. The plot was good. The family secrets, betrayal, and the different twists had me on edge.

I loved the storyline. I do wish I could’ve gotten more from the ending. It felt hasty, where I feel it fell short as there were pieces that were missing. I had some questions that haven’t gotten answered.

Overall, this was good but different from what I usually expect from Briann, but it shows how versatile she is. This is definitely a good recommendation for the urban fiction girlies that enjoy thrillers.

Whew!

Briann did an amazing job on this book, she never disappoints!

Matthew and Kimberly had 2 daughters, Mia and Hazel which Mia being oldest, they both witnessed an argument between their parents which lead to Kimberly falling down the stairs and becoming ill. That fall lead to Hazel resenting her father and her father despised Hazel, why?

So many secrets, lies, blackmail, foolery, and shenanigans throughout this story, the girls found their mother's journal and all the secrets started to unravel as one of the girls found out Matthew wasn't her daddy and both parents had affairs. Talk about what you do in the dark comes to the light and Karma is a ____ Matthew days were numbered!

This was a like a mystery story to me, those girls showed Matthew how to the play the game and his entire life came crashing down right before his eyes.

The story was well written, it kept me on edge and the ending did not disappoint!

Thank you Netgalley and Black Odyssey for such an amazing book in exchange for my honest review!

***Summary***
During the prologue, the girls witness their father choke then push their mother down the stairs when they were kids. Mia 34, Hazel 30, Teyona 24 are all sisters. Mia is a clinical pharmacist. Hazel is an artist (painter), and Teyona is a nursing student. Mia is the golden child and goes with the flow. Hazel is the rebellious child, but doesn’t take any sh*t from her father. Teyona is the baby sister and is constantly seeking approval from her father. Their father owns a million dollar pharmaceutical company. The girls are being blackmailed due to something their parents did and also for selling drugs that caused someone to go into a coma. Family secrets are revealed. They find out Teyona is not really their father’s child and Jarel (Mia’s boyfriend) is plotting to get justice for his “sister” who turned out to be his fiancée. In the end, their father went to jail for killing Jarel (was set up by Mia).

***My Thoughts***
It’s an okay read. I gave it three stars. Some parts were kinda predictable and some areas were underdeveloped.
