Reeling from a Stanley Cup loss and public evisceration, NHL Defenseman Andrew Fisher has run to the only place he thinks he'll be Jamie Thompson's basement in Lake Placid, New York. In the space of two weeks, he's watched his reputation fall to pieces, and has been ordered to go "soul searching" by his coach.
He didn't expect that would lead him to Danielle Spencer.
Danielle Spencer's life turned upside down with one unanswered text message, and now she finds herself grieving the loss of her best friend while also taking care of the six-year-old she left behind. The last thing she needs is a relationship when she also has a business to run.
But the 6'3 hockey player living in Jet Thompson's basement might just change her mind.
This book was such a pleasant surprise! I read it in less than 24 hours, and honestly, I wasn’t ready for how emotional it was. The grief and healing hit hard, so make sure you’ve got some tissues handy!
Andrew's journey through anxiety after a big loss, and the backlash from fans, was heartbreaking but so well-written. And his dog, Roscoe was the sweetest emotional support pup ever. Then there’s Danielle, who’s had her fair share of loss too. And let’s not forget little Harper, who is just adorable. Together, Andrew and Danielle are pure magic. They help each other heal in the most beautiful way.
Even though it’s a closed-door romance, the slow build-up is so worth it. The banter and sarcasm had me laughing out loud, which was a nice balance to the heavier moments. And that epilogue was so adorable, I was grinning like a fool.
If you’re in the mood for a sweet, emotional read (with a side of hockey and the cutest dog), you NEED this on your TBR.

Clean hockey romance that really pulls your heart strings!
Andrew is a professional hockey player of an NHL team in Raleigh, NC. The pressures of being captain and losing the highest title make him question everything. He finds himself hitting Lake Placid during offseason and staying with his bff JT. Little does he know his life will get even more complicated when he meets local bookstore owner Danielle.
It was extremely refreshing to have a vulnerable MMC showcasing mental health representation. Most people believe men are the strong ones and can never feel less than.
Each character is going through grief in their own way and find a way to navigate their feelings throughout the book.
If you enjoy any of the following, you will enjoy this read!
Ohhhh my heavingly good Lord.... I devoured this book in a day! After having been sent my ARC copy from Sunny Babe PR, I decided to test the first chapter this morning and BAM! Done by nightfall.... By chapter two, I was already basically crying... And I just had to know how the story went!
I cannot put into words just how refreshing this book was. And closed door as well? Even better. I loved every bit of this story. Don't get me wrong, I love a bit of smut here and there but sometimes the smut is just... Overrated. I loved the characters, I loved the storyline, I loved the places where it was set. Heck, I wish I lived there! Adirondack Park just sounds lovely and picturesque. But also... What I loved most? Well... I think my favourite quote from this book is of course; "“Just a hockey player from Minnesota,” he says, nodding, “like Big Time Rush before they got their shot.”" Like, oh my gosh. Finally. A book that recognises Big Time Rush 🥹 the fact that I saw them in concert this year just... Ugh. Wholesome moment.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves a good romance that's closed door. But who also loves a good hockey player whose just... Down to earth and caring and... Owns a dog. Like cmon. Roscoe is adorable! However, instead of thinking of Dukes of Hazard, my immediate thoughts went to Lewis Hamilton's Roscoe haha.
Also, the fact that this book is second in a series? Welp... I'm going to have to go read the first one now haha. However, in saying that, this book can definitely be read as a stand alone! Obviously the storyline is clear for the first book as to how Jet and Ainsley end up together, but alas... There's no need to know any back story!
I ate this book up!!! Thanks to SunnyBabe PR for this ARC of Like A Daydream.
I instantly fell in love with characters.
Andrew a professional hockey player, suffering from panic attacks from his Stanley cup loss, heads to Lake Placid, NY to take a break and get away from the city of Raleigh.
He then meets bookstore owner Danielle, who had recently suffered a tremendous loss, when her best friend and her husband pass. Leaving behind a 5 year old daughter, who Danielle is willed.
Andy makes a complete fool of himself the first time he sees Danielle. Eventually, they make the most perfect pair and I can’t even handle it!
I cried. I laughed. I empathized. I felt all the feels with this book.
By the end I was pretty much a wreck. I needed more!!

Closed Door Romance Hockey Romance Single Mom Small Town
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I loved it. I read it in less than 2-days. This is also the first hockey romance I’ve read and for a girl who loves hockey, shame on me! This book had me laughing out loud but at times also made me sad. I really enjoyed the way the FMC and MMC met and how the MMC swooned after the FMC. I love that the author made the MMC relatable and down to earth even though he’s an NHL player. The other characters in the book were just as well developed and loved as the main characters.
I loved everything about this book and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a quick read hockey romance with a meet-cute vibe.
Since this is book 2 in the New York series, I will be reading book 1 in the very near future.
Thank you @Sunnybabepr for sending me a copy of this book!
Thanks to Sunny Babe PR for the arc! Loved this so much! Great characters & fun hockey references. If you're looking for a good palate cleanser, this is it. Will definitely read more from this author.
This book was an absolute gem! I read this in less than 24 hours, and I honestly wasn’t prepared for how deeply emotional it would be. The author did an amazing job at showing mental health throughout this book. The mention of grief and healing was written so well and it was so heartfelt. I definitely wasn’t prepared for that so make sure you have some tissues when reading!!
Andrew's journey through the aftermath of a major loss, plus with the backlash from his fans, was heart-wrenching. The scene right before he had a panic attack really made me feel for him because the way he was blaming himself hit me really hard. Then there’s Danielle, who’s also faced her own share of heartache, losing her best friend in such a tragic way.
She learns to trust herself and Andrew when it comes to her heart. Oh and I cannot forget adorable little Harper—she was an absolute joy, quite literally sunshine in human form. Also Roscoe, his dog, was the ultimate emotional support companion—such a sweet addition to the story. I absolutely love that Roscoe was not only a pet but an emotional support animal cause that just was something I hadn’t read about.
While it’s a closed-door romance, the slow burn is totally worth it. Together, Andrew and Danielle are pure magic. Their connection reads so genuine and it reminds me of why I love reading romance books. The witty banter and sarcasm had me laughing out loud, which balanced out the more intense, emotional moments. I was grinning from ear to ear the entire book.
Thanks so much to Tricia Morrison and Sunny Babe PR for providing me with this ARC.

“She was this bright, burning energy… and I was happy to be in her orbit. She had all my secrets, knew all the little pieces that made me.”
This was my first hockey romance, and wow, I did not expect it to be such an emotional ride. Definitely check the content warnings and keep some tissues nearby because the grief and healing in this story hit hard. The romance feels real and relatable, and the way it tackles real-life challenges is beautifully done. It’s a closed-door romance, but trust me, the build-up is totally worth it. The banter and sarcasm are spot-on, so be ready to laugh out loud more than once. If you’re in the mood for an emotional rollercoaster (with a side of hockey), you’ll want to add this to your TBR ASAP!
Andrew, an NHL captain, is dealing with way more than just losing the Stanley Cup. With angry fans and a history full of challenges, his coach recommends some soul-searching to escape the chaos.
He ends up in the small town of Lake Placid, crashing in his best friend’s basement and finally finding a little peace. On a trip to a local bookstore, he meets Danielle. His attempt at flirting? Let’s just say it doesn’t exactly land.
Danielle, meanwhile, is grappling with her own heartbreak. She’s mourning the loss of her best friend, who left behind her six-year-old daughter, Harper, now in her care. Between legal battles with grandparents, running her bookstore, and managing her grief, love is the last thing on her mind. But running into a 6’3” NHL captain might just be the unexpected therapy she needs.
Thank you to author Tricia Morrison and Sunny Babe PR for this ARC in exchange for a honest review.

This book is a heartwarming sports romance with a dash of deeper emotional depth that really makes it stand out!
Andrew is far from your typical swoon-worthy hero. Sure, he's got the looks and the success as a professional hockey player, but beneath that cool exterior, he’s wrestling with anxiety, battling the pressure of being in the public eye. And let’s not forget his adorable support dog, Roscoe, who is the true MVP of the story!
Danielle, our amazing heroine, is the definition of strength. Despite grappling with the grief of losing a dear friend, she steps up to the plate and takes on the responsibility of caring for her friend's orphaned daughter, Harper. Life's thrown plenty of challenges her way, but she tackles them head-on, never backing down.
Andrew and Danielle’s relationship is equal parts heart-melting and heartbreaking. There are moments of sadness, yes, but also tons of fun banter, playful flirtation, and real emotional support that help both characters heal. Together, they show that even when life feels like it's at its worst, love and happiness can still be found.
If you're looking for a read that's both sweet and full of emotional depth, this one’s for you!
TROPES: 💞 Small Town 💞 Single Mom 💞 Hockey Romance 💞 Closed Door Romance 💞 Anxiety Rep
Andy is an elite hockey player who, after his team loses the Stanley Cup and he's blamed, escapes to the Adirondack Mountains to lay low during the off season. His coach has told him to find what matters, but right now he just wants to escape the ridicule and harassment. He and his support dog Roscoe take up residence in his best friend Jamie's basement.
While exploring the town he meets Danielle, who runs the local bookstore and has recently become mum to the six year old daughter her best friend left behind when she died, Harper. As Dani and Harper navigate their grief and new life, Dani is not looking for a relationship, but Andy finds himself drawn to her and to pass the time and help his anxiety he starts to work in her store. The way they integrate into each other's day, especially Andy and Harper bonding over ice cream dates, was so charming.
This is a closed door romance but there are moments where you're kicking your feet giggling over the sweetness of it all. It's not all easy going, there is conflict and a third act breakup, but in true romance style there is a happy ending. The mental health rep for Andy was fantastic, Roscoe was as much part of the story as Andy and Dani. I thought both Andy and Dani grew a lot and overcome a lot on their own as well as together.
I didn't realise this was the second book in a series, it can be read as a standalone, but I'm looking forward to going back to read the first book which is the story of Jamie and Ainsley.
Thank you @sunnybabepr and Tricia Morrison for the ARC!
Like a Daydream (New York #2) by Tricia Morrison is a closed door hockey romance and I absolutely loved it!!
This book follows Andrew and Danielle. Andrew is a NHL Defenseman and after the lost of the Stanley Cup, life gets to much for him. He runs a way to the only place he thinks he'll be safe and that is to Jamie Thompson's basement in Lake Placid, New York.
Danielle lives in the small town called Lake Placid when her life gets turned upside down. Now she is looking after a six year old, Harper and the last thing she needs in her life is a 6'3 hockey player.
This book had me crying my heart out from the beginning. The book is over 400 pages but it doesn't feel that long. It was such a good read that I almost read it in one sitting. Andrew is such a cinnamon roll and Roscoe is the perfect emotional support dog. Harper is so cute and she is definitely a fav character. Danielle is the best friend you need. They both went through so much character development and the chemistry between them is amazing! I loved the mental health rep and the epilogue was the perfect ending
Tropes featured is single mom, closed door, small town, anxiety and Mental health rep.
I can't wait to go back and read Only So Far, book 1 in the series. The book follows Ainsley and Jamie.
Thank you Sunny Babe PR and Tricia Morrison for sending me this book in exchange for my honest review.
🏒Like A Daydream 💫by Tricia Morrison 🏒AVAILABLE NOW
When I seen this book was closed door while also being a hockey romance, I had to sign up!! It did not disappoint! 😍
📚Danielle works at a bookstore (we love that) and is living her life normal as can be until one unanswered text message and a dawning reality changes everything. Not only does she have to deal with the loss of her best friend, Emerson, but she also automatically becomes legal guardian to Em’s sweet daughter, Harper.
🥅 Andrew is a 6’3 hockey player who is dealing with his own struggles while also getting hounded by angry hockey fans who blame him for the team’s recent loss. I think it was a really important aspect to include with us getting to see a tall, handsome hockey player in the NHL deal with everyday struggles (just like us) like panic attacks and anxiety along with just opening up and being vulnerable on these pages.
📚Tricia created such an emotionally charged story while simultaneously including fun banter and a sweet romance! Our beloved Andrew also owns a dog, Roscoe, just in case you needed an extra reason to give this read a try! 😉🩷
🥅 I loved this read so much and as a Rusher since 09’, the big time rush nod was the icing on the cake 🍰 thank you so much to Tricia and Sunny Babe PR for providing me with this ARC copy in exchange for my honest review! ✨
✨ Book Review: Like A Daydream by Tricia Morrison✨
4/5 stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐
A huge thank you to Tricia Morrison and SunnyBabePR for gifting me an ARC of *Like A Daydream*! 💕
I had so much fun reading this one! Hockey player Andrew Fisher, reeling from a devastating Stanley Cup loss, ends up in Lake Placid, where he meets Danielle Spencer, who’s trying to juggle grief, motherhood, and a business. The chemistry between them was *electric*, and there were several moments that had me laughing out loud! 😂
The plot was super engaging, and I loved seeing how their relationship developed, but I have to say, the pacing felt a bit rushed in places. The characters getting called "mom" and "dad" after just a few months felt like it took away from the emotional weight of that moment.
Despite that, I still really enjoyed the story and would absolutely recommend it! If you’re into heartwarming romance with a dash of humor, this one’s for you. 🥰
I have not read the first book in the New York series yet, but felt like this was a standalone story.
I really enjoyed this book! In the beginning, starting out with the heart wrenching loss of a loved one and stress of added responsibilities for Danielle. And for Andrew being in a crisis after blowing his shot at the Stanley Cup finals. Feeling unsafe in his own home, and dealing with his ever debilitating anxiety leads him to seek comfort with his best friend JT. The meet cute for these two was SO ADORABLE, I laughed out loud! I teared up at parts, especially where Harper is involved. What a cutie! I wish the last 20-30% wasn’t as rushed. I would have loved to see how they navigated their relationship during the hockey season a bit more. But overall this was such a great read for me! I don’t usually read close door romance, but this had me feeling all kinds of feelings to make up for it!
This was cute. Honestly I enjoyed the simplicity of it and it mixed with some drama. Andrew dealing with anxiety especially after a huge loss and dealing with the backlash of it from "fans". It was heartbreaking seeing him go through that, but it was also relatable. Loved his dog, Roscoe, he was just the sweetest and good emotional support dog. And Danielle, ugh I felt for her as well after losing not only one friend, but 2. And Harper. Sweet little Harper. I just loved these characters together. They helped each other heal. It was a pretty quick paced romance and closed door, but that didn't take away any enjoyment from the story. The epilogue was absolutely adorable too. Was so happy to get that and see where the characters were after so many years. ☺️☺️
i was very fortunate to receive an ARC of Like a Daydream by Tricia Morrison from SunnyBabePR, thank you so much!! 🩷

this is the first book i’ve read by tricia and it certainly won’t be my last! this book was so good, i loved everything about it!! this was such a cute, fun, and quick read for me. it’s also a hockey romance, so obviously i enjoyed this book that much more! the amount of emotions i went through while reading this book, have you’re tissue on standby!
danielle and andrew have both been through a lot! danielle is navigating grief and loss and raising a child. while andrew is tackling anxiety after a big loss and the backlash from fans. when they first meet, it’s an instant attraction. but what i loved most about danielle and andrew is how both were so patient and understanding with each other. together, danielle and andrew are pure magic. and they help each other heal in the most beautiful way.
overall, this book was a rollercoaster ride of emotions but i enjoyed every part of it. i will definitely be going back and reading the first book in this series. once again thank you so much to sunnybabepr and tricia morrison for providing me with this arc 🩷
Andrew is the defenseman for the NHL. He's upset about losing the Stanley Cup, which is a huge deal. Now his reputation is in the gutters, and his coach wants him to do some "soul searching." He ends up spending the off-season in New York with his friend. That's when he runs into the local bookstore owner😍🙌
Danielle is currently grieving her bestfriend she recently lost and is now raising her little girl that she left behind🥹😭
I didn't expect this story to have the emotional punch that it did, but it was so impactful yet beautiful. Danielle is truly a sweetheart for raising her friends daughter. That's an amazing thing to step up and do. I loved the author's writing style. She was able to capture every emotion in the perfect words🥹🙌😍

I didn’t expect this book to be this emotional. I scream when she got the news and it me cry a lot after that. This book is close romance but the chemistry between them was so cute and will have you giggling. Their first and it was so cute how nervous he was. I love how they both were each other comfort. The ending was so perfect. I felt so bad for Harper I love this little kid and how cute and strong she is. Jamie and Ainsley, and going to read their book too. (Book 1 of the series.)
This one is perfect for those of you who loves small town, funny meet-cute, struggling characters. Both Dani & Andy been through a lot but they met at the perfect timing to give each other needed support and care. While navigating grief and lose but also raising a child Dani was hoping for better and brighter future and Andy was ready to give it to her and Harper. He also had his own struggles and fears in the beginning of the story but learned to live through it and found his new peace and happiness in life. The epilogue was cute & fun, perfect for the end of this book.
I somehow read books events in which are happening in opposite season that I’m currently living and this one was like this. Summer romance that give you a glimpse of life in the small town near Adirondack Park 🏞️ If you want a bit of light and warmth in upcoming winter months mark your calendars and get this one.
Like a daydream is a very cute small town sports romance. Both our main characters are going through a hard time and seeking ways to overcome it. Once these two met, the sparks flew, and I felt so giddy watching the love blossom. All these characters were likable and so funny. There was so much banter amongst everyone, and I loved the flirting between Andrew and Danielle. I also loved that they didn't rush into love with each other. It felt like time was taken for their crushes to develop and for them to really get to know each other.
Anxiety and grief were displayed amazingly in this, and I think both Danielle and Andrew really needed each other to get through it. It was beautiful to see them be there for each other during the rough times and how they built each other up. Andrew was so supportive and so persistent with Danielle. He was patient and so so sweet while also handling his own mess. And don't even get me started on the way he was with Harper and how he just accepted her in his life. This man is swoon worthy. My heart has been turned to mush.
This is by far one of my favorite romances. I felt warm and fuzzy most of the time I was reading this. Danielle and Andrew are defiently a favorite book couple. I loved them together so much. This ending was everything I needed and more. It ended on such a good note, and I feel like I'm drunk off their love.
Thank you, sunnybabepr and Tricia Morrison, for the gifted ARC
I loved this! This was such a sweet romance that also had deep characters working through hard times in their lives. I always love a good hockey romance and a single parent trope so this was absolutely perfect for me. Danielle and Andrew being patient and understanding with eachother is so admirable and I’m glad they got to be together. I always love reading about characters learning to navigate significant things they’re going through. The setting seemed absolutely beautiful and it honestly sounded like somewhere I would love to visit. This book flew by and I had such a good time with it.
Thank you to Sunny Babe PR for sending me this arc!
Like A Daydream was an excellent read! First thing- the beginning of the book had a playlist (L O V E when authors include that!) so I re-created it on Spotify. This is a closed door ice hockey romance which takes place in Raleigh, NC and Lake Placid, NY. After a devastating loss and public humiliation, Andrew escapes to a small town to rest and recharge. Danielle runs a bookstore for her parents, and experiences unimaginable loss which flips her life upside down. Andrew literally falls for Danielle when he meets her for the first time. Danielle is thrown for a loop when he offers to work at her bookstore for the summer. Their chemistry is perfection… but is it the right time for them to fall in love?? This book explores the pressures of professional sports and anxiety along with grief and death, so be sure to have tissues handy. Thank you @sunnybabepr for sending me a copy of this book! It is also available on Kindle Unlimited.
An unfortunate incident leads Danielle to become a single mom to Harper, a cute six-year-old. While she attracts the attention of Andrew (Andy), a top hockey player who is resting in their small town, Harper also ends up becoming “close friends” with Andy.
I enjoyed those scenes with the three of them together and they truly make a cute family. Despite how awkward their initial meet-cute was, Andy truly came through with his persistence and authentic care for both Danielle and Harper.
I also loved those quiet moments and banter they shared as they worked together in the bookstore. As a book lover myself, falling in love in a bookstore sounds so perfect!
ARC Review Another hockey romance done! This book was beyond cute! It started off really sad and I really wasn’t expecting for it to be so emotional to begin but it really played out for the story ahead. I loved that Andy went to a small town to find himself and get away from all the shit that had happened in his life. He struggled with his MH and it was so nice to see him work through it and also for Danielle to be there for him. I loved watching their relationship blossom. Shout out to Harper because she was beyond cute and the way she got information out of the adults just had me in giggles. A very enjoyable read!
🆁🅴🆅🅸🅴🆆 Like A Daydream is a feel good hockey romance & I was hooked from the first page. I didn’t want this book to end! I truly adore hockey romances, they tend to end up being so good! Also love a good small town romance & this is it!
I loved the storyline & where the story took place! It was so well written & the characters were so good & thought out! I love how she showed true representation of loss, grief & mental health. It shows that you can tackle anything in life that comes your way! I loved how the MMC had his emotional support dog & everyone loved his dog. I loved how the FMC owned a bookstore & took the roll on being a single Mom, I mean who wouldn’t love to own a bookstore?? I would! I loved how Danielle & Andy’s romance bloomed! It was a closed door romance but so worth it! The sarcasm & banter was just right, you’ll definitely laugh! This was an emotional rollercoaster and it will have you in all your feels! My favorite part was the last 2 chapters, truly memorable!
This was a really cute closed door hockey romance!
The plot was engaging and I loved the characters! I enjoyed that it was dual POV and loved the funny meet cute. It had a very satisfying ending as well.
It was quick paced, which I enjoyed overall, but a couple things felt a bit rushed because of it.
It is book two in an interconnected series that can absolutely be read as a stand-alone as I did and now want to go read book one.
Recommend checking this one out!🩷
Thank you @sunnybabepr and @triciamorrisonauthor for this #gifted e-copy!🫶🏼
Super cute romance with a touch of heart. The climax felt abrupt and under-developed, but the characters make up for it. I'm convinced that Andrew is the sweetest, most perfect man in existence, and Danielle is a well-rounded, real, down-to-earth woman. Harper is a sweet kid, too, wise beyond her years but endearing and direct in that way that kids are. The side characters were also a lot of fun. I loved the supportive coach especially, even though he doesn't get much screen time.
Thank you to @sunnybabepr and Tricia Morrison for this ARC copy!!! 3.5⭐️ absolute cute romance and comeback story!
This book was classic golden retriever vibes! Losing the cup hit Andrew hard and made it difficult to survive in Raleigh. He spends offseason in Lake Placid, NY where he meets Danielle.
Danielle is fighting her own battles after losing her best friends, learning to become a mom. They meet in a hilarious way, and soon Andy gets a job at her bookstore.
Their story is a whirlwind romance with some challenges. I loved seeing the character growth and the love grow as a family🖤🖤
I loved this book! When it comes to romance books, I'm very picky 😅 but this one was truly amazing! I loved the characters and the story. It was very touching and some deep and emotional topics were discussed.
I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to everyone who wants to read a deep and emotional romance story that involves trauma healing and finding oneself 🩷
Thanks to @sunnybabepr for providing me a free copy of this book.
