Famous YouTuber Mizuri finds herself secretly struggling to recover after being ditched at the altar. Now a shell of the vibrant woman she once was, her existence revolves around maintaining a facade of strength with her hit series, Pretty Girls Don’t Cry, and whipping up fake Get-Ready-With-Me videos.
Approaching what would’ve been her one-year wedding anniversary, she makes the decision to embark on a solo trip to The Sunshine State. However, upon arrival, Mizuri quickly realizes that her quest for sunshine and solitude may be in vain, thanks to an unexpected hurricane. But could this stormy surprise be the twist she needs for a new beginning?
4.5 stars Omg This was good. Mizury (pronounced Missouri) a notable YouTube star embarks on a solo trip trying to heal and find herself a year after being left at the altar. Unexpectedly she is forced to spend time with Jamil whom speaks positively over her life and is funny AF. I laughed so much throughout this book. I loved everything about Jamil, he was sweet and sour..mean and nice at the same time. He was always joking and he took care of his family. I love how secure he was, how he refused to dim her light, and made her feel special from initially meeting Zuri..and on top of that the man could cook. Listen just sign me up😩🤭 This was a good one you won't be disappointed.
This was a new to me author and I enjoyed this story. Mizuri reminded me of many influencers who go public with their man and do content with them, just for it to fall apart publicly. J-Mil was exactly who she needed to show her the light and close the door to past hurt. Most mothers are never wrong about who they think aren’t good friends or people in their child’s life. Mizuri’s mom was precisely that type of mom. I love an Insta-love romance, so I was here for that. I'm not a big fan of 1 POV, but it worked for this short.
This book took me through all the emotions on the spectrum. I’m glad Mizuri took the time to sort through her emotional baggage to make space for the love she deserves.
I love everything about this love story. Jmil was everything you'd want in a partner and Zuri is every girl that has walked this earth. I love how the author implemented healing and moving on but showing it is indeed a journey. I give this book two very enthusiastic thumbs up.
This book was EVERYTHING! I love how He loved her platonically and poured into her brokenness. He was so thoughtful and she reciprocated effortlessly. I could literally picture this book as I was reading. Beautifully detailed and I cried tears of Joy and that man is scrumdillyyumyum! I could literally hear his southern accent. She was so soft and comfy in her skin. I love when she checked that hoe at the family barbecue !
De'Andrea did it again! Her catalogue gets better each time! This story of Zuri and Jamil's journey was so good. He embraced and encouraged her on her healing quest. She supported and encouraged him. They complimented each other in their endeavors. It was so inspiring. They were too funny together. Squeak and Cookie were two funny peas in a pod. The playlist was 🔥♥️!
This was my first read by this author but I really enjoyed the story!! I love a good soul searching, pout into me type of love. This story touched and displayed that from both the FMC perspective and the MMC. Someone who can be honest with love around you while also being your biggest hype man is everything! I am happy I picked it up 😍
New to me author. I really liked the insta love story feel. They were a cute couple. Jamil played no games. I love a MMC who knows what he wants and goes after it. I loved how De’ Andrea wrote the FMC Zori. Although Zori was heartbroken she didn’t have her be super whiny. The Character building was good.
This was soooo good but baby I'm messy. Where's the rest. Lol we want to see that eggnog on Chris when he learned the news and his fake sister, where she at??? The story was refreshing and I absolutely loveee their chemistry. 10 out of 5 chef kiss but seriously we need more of Zuriiiii
While this was lighthearted, carefree and funny, there were a lot of hidden gems here. I dont know if it's because I'm grieving a relationship, while still in said relationship, but this book was just what I needed. Another great story told by De
This was such a great story that I refused to put down until I finished it. I smiled and laughed so much throughout this great love story. Moving on to read more of this author’s catalog.
What a great read! I finished it in no time! Once I got started I couldn't put it down. I fell in love with the characters and was drawn into their lives. I thoroughly enjoyed it! 10 out of 10 highly recommend!
This here should be a staple for all women to not dwell on the bs and FIX YOUR CROWN and move on. I love this book so much. A must read! PS every Chris I know is a jackass! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
This book basically told a story of what a lot of people do on social media. They pretend that life is so grand or pretend to be something they not. When Zuri met JaMil he actually allowed her to be herself and to let that hurt of her ex go. This was a good read. That epilogue was kind of unfinished. Hopefully it’s not a part 2 this book didn’t need it.
Ok so my girl De’Andrea never disappoints! Y’all I was mad, happy, pissed etc with this one! When a story can grab ahold your emotions that means it’s a good story! OK! From the very beginning I was glued!!!! Great book De I truly enjoyed this one!
This was really good, about self-healing, and not depending on a significant other to make you happy. Zuri and J-Mil were so cute, definitely realistic in terms of getting together and pouring into one another.
OMG! That’s a good man, Savannah! Jamil is everything. He helped her heal and find her way back to herself. He did it with such grace, which made it all the more beautiful! Please go read this book!
Beautiful That’s what the journey of this book is. Each page was healing and transparency and living. We all need to get back to that. This authors talent is so amazing to experience.
I loved this book! Mizuri was left at the altar, and we journeyed through her rediscovery of self and love. A solo vacation turned into a love connection. Jamil’s banter was hilarious! I’ll probably reread this one. Squeak adoration was so adorable. ♥️🫶🏾🥰😍
This was my first insta love read. At first I didn’t like Jamil. He came across as arrogant. I was like how are they going to mesh well when he is acting like that. After a while I learned to like him. I’m glad Zuri got her happily ever after, she deserves it. The crazy thing is her ex fiance tries to get her back and ends up ruining his image. Thats exactly what he gets for leaving her at the altar. I wonder why he left her there though. Glad Zuri was able to find someone who loves her and decided to marry her.

4.5⭐️ Sometimes what we think is the worst moment of our life can end up being the best thing that has ever happened to us, once we step back after we’re healed. Zuri still reeling a year later after being left on her wedding day, decided to getaway but what was meant to be time away for herself turned in to be more than she bargained for when she showed up to the Airbnb and an unknown guest Mr. Jamil was there. The banter between Zuri and Jamil was funny and carried this story. I enjoyed how Jamil helped Zuri find herself, reassuring her every step of the way.
I absolutely loved this book. It captivated me from the very first page and held me in its grip until the very end. The story is beautifully written, with characters so well-developed that they feel like real people. I could read this book multiple times without ever getting tired of it, discovering new layers and nuances with each read.
De'Andrea's storytelling is compelling, and the emotional depth of the narrative is truly moving. If you're looking for a book that will stay with you long after you've turned the last page, "Pretty Girls Don’t Cry" is the one. I highly recommend it to anyone in search of an unforgettable reading experience.
De'Andrea, such a great read. I loved how you showed what can happen when you choose to live after a terrible situation. Sometimes when we think we are in the right place in our lives we are just making room for our real destination. Thank you for showing what happens when we allow people to treat us any kind of way. Oh but karma is a real situation baby. I enjoyed this read.🤗🤗🤗🤗😙
I absolutely loved this short novella! It was EVERYTHING! It was a smooth read that made you fall in love with the characters from the start. I loved Zuri and Jamil's relationship. He came in a time when she needed him the most. This was such a beautiful love story. My only issue is that I wish I would have was this sooner. I would recommend this short to anyone who loves urban romances.
