Heartbreaker

Rate this book
They say that time heals a broken heart, but you try moving on when your ex is the most famous man on the planet.

At least, that's what it feels like every time I see a magazine cover or billboard plastered with his gorgeous face: Finn McKay. Now he's a drop-dead sexy rock star, but when I knew him, he was just the boy from the wrong side of the tracks - and the first guy I ever loved.

He broke my heart into a hundred pieces when he skipped town without saying goodbye - but now he's back.

And he wants me.

I'm determined not to make the same mistakes twice, but the chemistry with Finn was always way too hot to ignore. The past five years have been good to him, real good, and between his dirty mind and that 'I know how to make you moan' smile, he's breaking through my defenses all over again.

Maybe one last wild fling for old time's sake is what I need to finally move on. But what happens when Finn wants more than my body? This time he wants my heart.

'Heartbreaker' was my first read by this author, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Well, Mrs. Grace surprised in me in a good way with this one. A pretty great mix of sweetness and sexiness, this second chance romance was a very enjoyable read with two endearing main characters, some engaging supporting characters, a lovely romance and plenty of hot moments between the protagonists.

Eva was only sixteen years old when she fell in love with Finn, the town’s bad boy. No one expected the shy, quiet girl to become friends with this rebellious boy and soon after to be head over heels for him. Back then Eva was for Finn the piece of quite he needed. He fell hard for her, but he did a mistake – he left town without explaining anything to Eva, without saying goodbye.

“I try to remember to breathe. Finn may have left a boy of nineteen, but he’s come back all man.”

Five years later Finn is back in town…for Eva, because all he wants now is for her to forgive him, to take him back and to explain why he left her years ago. Eva never forget Finn, she still remembers everything good that happened between them, but she also never forget how much he hurt her when he left her. All these years she tried not to think of him, so the fact that he’s back in town doesn’t really please her.

“Why did he have to come back? Why did he have to remind me of everything I used to feel, all those things I’ve told myself were just a dream?”

While Finn makes sure Eva understands that he wants her back and he’s willing to do anything to win her over, Eva has certain doubts when it comes to the boy, now man who broke her heart and almost destroyed her.

This one might work for you if you are a fan of sweet and sexy second chance romances. Unlike other books with this trope I’ve read in the past, 'Heartbreaker' was very, very low in angst. I must admit I prefer more angst in these kind of books, but overall I enjoyed this one. Told in dual POV, which I enjoyed, the story was really fast paced. To be honest a little too fast paced for my liking. I really would have wanted the story to be longer and some aspects to be a little more developed.

I liked how Eva and Finn were portrayed. Eva was easy to like and also relatable in some way. She was sweet and caring and portrayed from the beginning as a genuinely good person.

“You're going to beg for me, beg for another inch, and when I finally give it you, when I finally let you come, that's when you'll know. You belong to me, baby. You'll always be mine.”

To say I enjoyed Finn’s character would be an understatement. His man bun and dirty mouth were delicious. I liked the fact that he never gave up and I liked how determined he was to get the woman he still loves back.

Eva and Finn were great together and their connection as the story unfolds was very palpable. Sweet with a nice dose of steam, 'Heartbreaker' was an enjoyable read. The supporting characters were all engaging and well written and I appreciate the fact there wasn’t any stupid drama.

Overall, a great second chance romance!

4 Second Chance Romance Stars

I know I'm young, and I can hear all the safe, explanations running through my head.
But I know, deep down, he's the one for me.
This brave, wounded, infuriating man is all I want in the world.
But the problem is, I know how it feels to watch him walk away.

I first came across this book when I saw a teaser, I was really intriged so I did what I normally do which is stalk the author, scour her page and social media looking for ARC sign ups etc (yes, I have no shame). I haven't read very many second chance romance novels, but I have to say that I really liked this one. Apart from being separated from each other for a few years and having one major secret, this book was relatively drama free with very low angst. I'd compare to a hot cup of coffee (that first cup in the morning), goes down easy and once you've finished drinking it you feel refreshed and suddenly the world looks that much brighter.

Finn and Eva's story, is about the bad boy and the quiet girl that no one notices, becoming the best of friends and that friendship growing into something so much more. The girl who came from a loving home and the boy who had never had loving word spoken to him. Polar opposites healing each other. After Finn left Eva and Oak Harbor without a word, Eva was left to pick up the pieces of her broken heart. Her life began spiraling into a completely different and much darker direction than she had planned until she finally got the nerve to go back home. With a younger sister struggling to make a life for her and her son, a dead end job at a Real Estate agency and volunteering all her free time at the animal shelter, Eva is fully immersed in Oak Harbor but has no time to face the deep set issues in her life. Until Finn comes back...

Here, in her arms, with nothing between us anymore, I feel the kind of peace I've not found the whole world over. A rightness, a belonging. And fuck, it drives me crazy, but underneath screaming nerve endings and mad, hot lust, there's something more powerful than just this moment.
Beyond physical, to where it touches my soul.
This, girl, this place.
Right here.

With the return of Finn to Oak Harbor, Eva is forced to deal with her past. Finn finally realises that leaving might not have been the right choice. This was a really light and enjoyable read but it had plenty of hot and sizzling scenes.

He tangles his fingers in my hair, then tugs me closer, leaning in to whisper in my ear. "Is that what you like now, baby?" His voice is rasping, seductive. "You want me to tell you all the filthy, wicked things I'm going to do to you? How I jerk off imagining your pretty mouth wrapped around my cock, taking every last drop and begging me for more."

I loved the world that the author built, I got to know Oak Harbor and it's residents and I found it really cute but also familiar. I hope that Eva's sister can get her own book I'd love to read her happy ending.

They say time heals a broken heart, but you just try and get over the love of your life when he's the most famous man on the planet.

Having never read a Melody Grace book before, I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this. All I knew is after reading that blurb and seeing that cover, I couldn't not read it. Also, have you ever known me to turn down a chance to read a second chance romance? I think not. That's a damn sin is what it is, because let's be honest, I do love me some second chance romance. All that angst, it just speaks to me. Heartbreaker was actually quite low on the angst, but it did pack a punch to the feels. It was a wonderful, sweet and sexy story of two characters I fell in love with right away. The pace was steady, the writing was great, the characters endearing, and the romance super steamy. It may have been almost too sweet for my particular tastes, but it just worked for me here. It fit these two characters perfectly. There wasn't a need for any crazy drama or angst. It worked the way it was and I appreciated it for that.
Finn may have left a boy of nineteen, but he's come back all man.

Five years ago sixteen year old Eva fell in love with the town's bad boy. Their love was secret but no less potent, until the day Finn left and took her heart right along with him. Five years without a word and Eva still has never gotten over the hurt or anger of his betrayal. But now Finn is back in their small town and he's determined to right the wrongs of the past; starting with her.
He was inevitable. My temptation.

Eva spiraled after Finn left and spiraled into rock bottom that she's determined never to repeat. She lost herself along the way, but now she wants to find that girl again. Finn wants a second chance, but can Eva give him her heart again when he shattered it so completely those years ago?
I've never felt so out-of-control as when I'm with him, like my chest is cracked wide open and my heart is beating, open and raw, offered up for him to do as he wants with.

I loved Eva; she was such a real person. She's still clearly lost but she's determined to find herself. She's not about games and she's weak when it comes to Finn, but she owns that. Were there times where I wished she made him work for it a little harder? Sure. But considering we also get Finn's POV it was easy to see why she caved. Finn is...potent. The man had quite the mouth on him and he knew just when to use it to his advantage.
You're going to beg for me, beg for another inch, and when I finally give it you, when I finally let you come, that's when you'll know. You belong to me, baby. You'll always be mine.

Told in alternating POVs, this was a light yet steamy escape. I loved Finn and Eva together, and I loved that there was no flashbacks necessary to make the reader truly connect with their romance, even the one from their past. The author did a wonderful job explaining where they came from and leading them into the now. There's no crazy drama, no crazy conflict that takes place, or silly miscommunications. Just two people, healing the wounds of their past, together.

I'm admittedly not a huge fan of second chance romances, but when I read the blurb to Heartbreaker there was no way I couldn't not want to read it. The book was fast paced, sexy, and very interesting. I liked both characters, and even the secondary characters that were mentioned throughout the story.

Finn left home after high school and pursued his music career, making it big and becoming a superstar. But when he left and never looked back, he left behind his high school sweetheart, breaking her heart by not even telling her goodbye. Now, he's back in town and ready to win over the girl he's never stopped thinking about.

Eva had her heart ripped our when Finn left her all those years ago, and she never really recovered. Then he shows up in town again and seems to be everywhere she is, always in her space, and making her remember why she fell in love with him. But can the new man that Finn has turned into steal her heart all over again?

This was my first book by Melody Grace and I really liked her writing. She told the story in dual POV, but the majority of the book was told in Eva's with only a few chapters from Finn. I really liked how so much of it focused on what Eva was thinking, but during some important parts she threw in Finn's thoughts also.

These characters were wonderful and I loved how we got to see them discover their feelings for each other all over again. They had both changed a lot since high school so when they were finally together again it was like they were finding their hearts for the first time. I thought their story was beautiful, and I'm so glad I read it.

Title: Heartbreaker
Series: Standalone
Author: Melody Grace
Release date: March 28, 2016
Cliffhanger: No
HEA

He was inevitable. My temptation. Half a perfect world that was mine, just for a little while.

This is my second full-length novel by Melody Grace and I'm left wondering why I haven't explored her backlist more. This book had several facets that made it very tempting to me at first glance. Bearded, tatted musician. Second chance trope. An author whom I know from experience writes well-developed characters and heart-pounding passion. I was more than willing to give this one a shot.

While these things made me hopeful of a positive outcome, there's never a guarantee that any particular story will succeed in grabbing your interest. This book was a pleasant surprise that exceeded my expectations. No, it wasn't anything far outside of what I've read before in the rockstar romance sub-genre, but that didn't matter to me in the slightest. The writing was so well executed I was happy to go along for the ride. This book delivered.

Eva and Finn were two unlikely best friends during high school. She was the quiet, shy girl in the drama club and he was the town bad boy. He was the rebellious, mysterious one who everyone gravitated to but no one knew much about. He was an enigma. After a chance meeting, they evolved from friends to much more, but it was a reckless love that was destined to end in heartbreak. Finn brought out the daring side of her, made her shed her insecurities in a blazing, exhilarating rush. But after he was gone, suddenly everything came crashing down around her.

With the loss of that great high, came great lows. And she went seeking that high in other dangerous ways. New York was supposed to be her ticket to chasing her dreams on the stage, but it only brought shame and a retreat to her hometown to live a quiet life.

That peace was shattered when she was confronted with her past. Finn McKay was back in town. While she had come home to lick her wounds, he was back after conquering the music scene. She wanted nothing to do with him despite his appearance in town again. From the first moment Finn and Eva reconnect, you know he's back for more than a little relaxation. His intense interest in her, his need to be around her makes it clear that his feelings haven't dimmed through the years.

The best thing I've ever done and my biggest regret, all wrapped up in one heart-stopping package. Eva.

I really enjoyed his determination to break down her walls. He was persistent, sexy, and very endearing to see how he handled her so gently. But he also knew how to take control and use his dirty talking and lustful looks to remind her of all the thrilling passion they once shared.

This book was incredibly hot, which I think balanced out a lot of the sweetness of the story. It wasn't too cloying or overdone, I think because the characters were so charming and engaging. I never felt disconnected with the story. It set me on a fast-paced and absorbing journey, watching them chase their second chance at love.

Finn's return also caused Eva to look within herself. To stop accepting the mundane existence she retreated into after her dark years. She was stuck, unable to see how she was clinging to the regret and guilt that lingered after the bad choices she made. And could she trust that he was being sincere? If he breezed back out of her life a second time, she doubted she'd be able to pick up the pieces again. He was a whirlwind, exciting and tempestuous. But would he only leave destruction behind?

The second half did slow down somewhat, there was more time spent on her struggle to come to terms with the past and process her decision to move forward with Finn than I would have liked. Did it effect my enjoyment of the story greatly? No. Overall, this book was a solid story that I can see myself reading again. Not too heavy, and perfect when you're in the mood for something light and engrossing with a nice dose of steam. I will definitely be checking out more from this author in the future.

Oh my God. I loved this book! It's extremely funny, well-written, interesting and let's not forget - hot, hot, hot. The characters are seriously amazing and easily relatable. I loved reading both from Finn's and Eva's POV. Eva is such an awesome character, I immediately connected with her, she definitely deserved all the happiness of this world and it was obvious that Finn is the only one that can get her out of her shell. She is hilarious and I laughed out loud so many times! If that's not an indication of a great book than I don't know what is.
"Bracing myself, I slowly swivel around.
Maybe he isn’t hot anymore, I send up a silent prayer.
Maybe those magazine shoots are photo-shopped, and in real life he’s skinny with a bad case of adult acne.
Maybe—
I’m screwed."

I also loved Lottie & Dee and how they just wanted their sister/best friend to be happy. These girls are funny as well. Loved Dee's speculation about Eva and Finn!

This was a second chance story with all of the want, desire, and torment that can happen when two people with so much history... come back together. This was no different in the way these things go EXCEPT... The famous, hometown Rock Star is the one pursuing the first love.

Both have been hurt...
Both needed answers about what happened in the past...and Both still had the necessary feelings to make all of the dreams in their past fantasies come true once and for all.

Be careful what you wish for.... because you might just get it...And then what... you have to decide how much do you want this person...

All of this was done with charm and sexy times galore. I only had a bit of frustration and was able to read through it. Overall, entertaining.

If I had to describe Heartbreaker in one sentence, I would say, "it was sugary sweet with a side of SERIOUS heart squeezes!!!!!" I LOVED it. There was definitely angst in this novel, but the second chance romance shined bright. I adored the way Melody Grace crafted this story. From start to finish her writing felt effortless, her characters easy to love, and her story line fun to follow.

Without warning, or even a word, Finn left Eva. One day he was there and the next he was gone. Poof. He had left her. And for the past five years she's been carrying around a shattered heart. With a failed attempt at drama school, and a life in NYC behind her, Eva's home in Oak Harbor, finally at peace with the way things have panned out. She's got a good job, great friends, and she's helping her sister with her nephew.

She's exactly where she NEEDS to be.

Finn's regretted leaving Eva every single day since he made that choice. Now a big Rock Star, he's exhausted. He's spent the last couple of years busting his ass. And simply put, he misses his girl with a bone deep need that can no longer be tamed. He also wants a break from the "go go" pace he's been living. With that in mind, Finn decides to come back home, to the one place he swore he would never step foot in. His motives aren't complicated and his purpose is single minded.

He wants Eva! He wants to make amends and find out what happened to the girl he left behind.

Together Finn and Eva sizzle. Their chemistry is intoxicating. It's one of my favorite aspects of this story. Melody Grace writes some scorching dirty talk! But more than that, she injects it with a hearty dose of emotion. Eva and Finn have many unresolved feelings and secrets. But behind all that, they cannot deny their cataclysmic attraction.

Overall, this was a sexy, fun, and indulgent romance that was easy to devour. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a lighter, feel good read. I loved it.

Five FINN-tastic Stars!

They say don't judge a book by it's cover, but I totally did with this one. It is gorgeous!!

The rebellious heartbreaker, and the shy, quite girl who always had her head in a play

Amazing book. I love Melody's books - and this is the best one yet. Finn is completely drool worthy. A world famous rock star, left home and the girl he loved behind and never looked back. Till 5 years later.

Eva has spent 5 years trying to get over her heartbreak and get on with live. She is just about there till Finn walks back in. Their chemistry is off the charts hot and no matter how hard she tries to say no to him, her body just doesn't listen. It's her mind that doesn't want to give in and believe he's back for good.

"I'll do anything for you, baby. Anything you want. I will love you until the end of the fucking world, but you don't get to shut me out again. When I take you, I take all of you. Every last piece of you, body and soul."

Eva finally decides to go all in, to finally get over all the heartache. Then Finn throws a wrench into the plans.

A must read book. Full of steamy hot sex scenes. A down to earth love story. The side characters also make it great. Dee, Eva's bestie, fills the book with her sense of humor. I loved her character. Lottie, Eva's sister, is a very strong character. For being a mom at a such a young age, she is very grown up and responsible.

Eva was that girl in school who everyone thought would be going places. She was the one who was supposed to make it out of their little town. Finn was the bad boy everyone was sure would turn out just like his father. Their young love affected both of them greatly but when Finn just left after graduation, never to be heard from again, he broke Eva’s heart and neither their lives turned out the way anyone expected it to. Now, five years later Finn is back in town and he is after one thing; Eva. She is less than eager to let him in again however, and Finn will have his work cut out for him if he ever wants Eva back in life again.

Heartbreaker was relatively low on angst and high on the feel-goods. I loved how real these characters felt. The secondary characters were great too and the support the women in this book had for each other was great. I adored reading about Finn’s attempts at wooing Eva all over again and I really wished this part of the book would have been extended a little longer. Their passion, Finn’s confidence (and sometimes jealousy) resulted in off the charts hot sexy times. It all made for a read that was highly entertaining and equally as hot as it was sweet. There were moments that tugged at the tears but overall this book was just SO cute.

The story is fast-paced and if you’re looking to while away a couple of hours and lose yourself inside a story of second-chance romance that will leave you with a big smile on your face; this is the book for you.

Powerful, passionate, and poignant, Heartbreaker pulls at the heartstrings, hitting all of the right notes with a story of second chance love that sings to your soul. Pulse pounding like a drum. Body buzzing like a guitar. Emotions flowing like a moving melody. Not your typical rock star read, Heartbreaker is raw and real. A tale fused with fate and feels with highs and lows that tug at the heart and the soul, captivating like a concert until the very last page. Heartbreaker is a coming-of-age story of epic love that spans time, growth, heartbreak, and healing.

I love rock star romances with a hunger…an addiction. Rocker reads are scorching and stimulating. Blend an intense rock star with a sweet second-chance romance and my heart is happy as it races for the rocker and swoons for second-chance love. It’s special. A gift. An opportunity to right those wrongs. A fresh start.

“They say time heals a broken heart, but you just try and get over the love of your life when he’s the most famous man on the planet.”

They fell in love in high school. Finn McCay, the hot rebel and heartbreaker and Eva Carmichael, the beautiful, shy and quiet girl pursuing acting. An unlikely union but a match made in heaven. They shared hopes and dreams. The perfect couple. Perfect until Finn vanished, leaving Eva and their hometown without a word, throwing it all away.

For the last five years, Eva has been going through the motions—trying to move on, but not really living. Now, a famous rock star, Finn is everywhere: billboards, magazines, radio, and TV. Eva can’t help but be taunted and haunted frequently as she is still trying to piece together her broken heart. A heart that has never healed from heartbreak.

Finn is now back in their Carolina coastal town, returning to escape the hustle and bustle of LA. It’s his time to lay low and relax from rock star life. Time to reunite with the woman who was the first and only one to hold his heart, and, hopefully, the last.

“I thought after all of this time it would be different, that things might have changed. But just the sight of her hits me in the chest like a goddamned bullet, same as the very first day. The best thing I’ve ever done and my biggest regret, all wrapped up in one heart-stopping package.”

Finn was a dream for the last five years. A what-if. As he pummels his way back into Eva’s head and heart, a ghost of the past still haunting her present, he uncovers feelings that Eva has been trying her hardest to bury.

“Why did he have to come back? Why did he have to remind me of everything I used to feel, all those things I told myself were just a dream?”

A boy and girl then; now man and woman. Finn is the match that lights Eva’s body in flames. The sparks that resonated years ago is now reignited, burning brighter and scorching stronger than ever. She can’t help but get burned.

“Finn kisses me hard, yanking me closer and circling me with those taut, chiseled arms. His mouth is hot against mine, merciless and wild. And God, I can’t get enough. It’s like I’ve been sleepwalking for the past five years, and only just came back to life.”

As a famous rock star, Finn has had his share of beautiful women who have claimed his bed but never his heart. That’s because his first love, Eva, stole his heart when they were teens and never gave it back. His heart still beats for Eva. Her heartbreaker whose heart has forever been hers.

“That girl haunted me every night since I left this town. In the crowd of every show, living in the lyrics of every last song I write. I’ve kept her with me in my mind and heart, waiting for the day I could catch even a glimpse of her again…just maybe there’s still a chance to change the ending to the tragedy I wrote.”

Just one night. One night Eva will give her body to the only man who makes her heart beat and heart break. Her lifetime love. Her heartbreaker. For one night, she will release the heartbreak of the past and be in the present. Live in the moment. Abandon caution for reckless. Not think. Just feel.

“Each touch designed to push me further to the brink, gasoline on the slow-burn fire…I let go, give myself over to the rush, but I cling to that thread of steel. I can give him my body but not my heart this time.”

The chemistry when they reconnect is an electric surge of heat like fire with gasoline. Panty-melting hot. Penetrating. Powerful. Palpable.

“You’re going to beg for me, beg for just another inch, and when I finally give it to you, when I finally let you come, that’s when you’ll know, you belong to me, baby. You’ll always be mine.”

No strings. Just one night. Guard the heart. Eva’s already fragile heart can’t shatter much more.

“We’ve stripped away all the games and distractions, and my heart open like never before—but I’m scared to take that leap.”

Eva doesn’t realize that there is more to Finn’s story and his bolting like lightning years ago from her—his true love. Guilt. A crushing blow to the gut. A sucker punch. Blame tormented him then, and still eats at him, gnawing away at his heart with demons of doubt colliding with the firestorm of feelings in his head.

“I can see the wound still open, raw and painful. I did this. I hurt the one person in the world I swore I would always protect. I broke her heart, and I might never be able to make it right again."

First love. First heartbreak. First sorrow. A love that never dies. Can the heart, once broken, trust again?

“I could stop him. I could say anything at all. I could have the love I’ve been hoping for all these years. So why am I watching the door close behind him, and Finn McKay leave my life all over again?”

There is nothing as a nostalgic and sweet as a second-chance love story that calls to your heart, beckoning it, and flooding it with hope and happiness as former friends and lovers are reunited. Heartbreaker tears, tugs, and taunts your heart, and then slowly rebuilds it so it beats in happiness. Melody Grace’s best and most brilliant book yet, Heartbreaker is an achingly addictive story that casts a spell on your heart in a journey of not only second-chance love but self-discovery. A must-read love story that heats the heart and sings to the soul.

Heartbreaking Stars....

This book was a disappointment to me.
The premise was my favorite kind...childhood
friends to lovers. Then Mr. Sexy Finn the
huge rock star comes back and sparks fly!!
Well it did not happen that way. A matter
of fact Finn was supposed to be a mega
hot rock star, and we didn't get any of
that.

First, we get no back story on Finn and Eva's
story. We just get to hear about it through
mostly Eva's inner dialogue, and what we
did hear was boring. So Finn comes back
and while the sex was hot, I felt no connection.
He left Eva without a word and then years
later explains to her that he felt he was not
good enough. blah blah blah This has been
done so many times, and to be honest it
has been done much better than how it
was done in this book. My other HUGE
pet peeve was Finn then tells Eva that
while he was sleeping with all of the
hundreds of women while they were
separated, it was her face he saw, her
body he felt. That was just YUCK. Eva
loved it, but I was grossed out.

The rest of the book was just boring.
I didn't feel the chemistry and I
really didn't care about the characters.

Heartbreaker by Melody Grace
3.5 stars!!

“There’s plenty more where that came from. I haven’t even started loving you yet.”

I loved the premise of this book, hell anything with a rock star in it automatically piques my interest and add to that this was a second chance love story, another one of my favourite reads, this one was ticking all the boxes.

“Banged if you do, damned if you don’t.”

Eva is a woman stuck in the past, a heart broken past. She was sixteen when Finn left and she was left behind with no goodbye, nada, nothing. She had no idea why, had no way of contacting him and had tried her hardest to forget him…but nothing worked. First love is a potent thing, that first time giving your heart away, putting your faith and trust in another and giving them the one thing that no-one else has, a piece of themselves. Eva had never got over him and with his songs now permanently on every radio station she couldn’t avoid his voice and all the memories it evoked. She was doomed to mental torture.

Finn is exhausted after two long years on the road and is desperate for some rest and relaxation. While he would never normally run back to the place he initially ran from his muse was calling him home. Finn had never forgot Eva, every lyric he had penned was inspired by her, by them. He thought he was doing the right thing…so why is she still there?

“Maybe it’s a shot in the dark, and I’m only dredging up painful memories for the both of us, but I can’t help hoping that maybe, just maybe, there’s still a chance for me to change the ending to this tragedy I wrote.”

When their paths cross once again that age old chemistry is once again reignited. Eva tries her hardest to keep the man that broke her heart at arm’s length but her heart and her girlie parts have other ideas. There is only so much Finn a girl can resist and to be honest, Eva’s resistance was futile. But I give Finn his dues, he doesn’t give up and with Eva he definitely needed that trait.

“This brave, wounded, infuriating man is all I want in the world, but the problem is. I know how it feels to watch him walk away.”

This was a cute romance that I have to say was a tad predictable and a bit cliché. However, sometimes you need one of those reads to cleanse the palate and get whisked away in a traditional romance with a little angst. This was a quick read for me, I was invested in Finn and Eva’s story and was willing for them to give each other a second chance. There are secrets to be revealed and trust issues to be ironed out but these two both knew what they had lost and how they had felt apart and those two things are their incentive, they need to at least try.

“He was inevitable. My temptation. Half a perfect world that was mine, just for a little while.”

I enjoyed this one, had a great steam factor, was paced perfectly and had totally endearing characters. Even best friends and side characters all added something to this story and it really gave you that small town vibe. I was whisked away with Finn and Eva and definitely had my palate cleansed and a smile on my face by the end.

Finn McKay was the love of Eva's life until he left her high and dry with no contact or explanation whatsoever.

Now five years later, and still mending a broken heart, Finn~~ a now famous up and coming country rockstar, returns to Oak Harbor in hopes of winning Eva again and fixing what he broke between them.

Eva, however, is not so easily swayed by Finn's reappearance and is hesitant and reluctant to reembark anything to do with him after he destroyed her.

Can Finn ever win Eva's trust again? And is Eva even that same girl that she once was?

Heartbreaker was a pretty tame and easy read. Not much is happening, but I appreciated that sense of normalcy in the book. No over the top dramas to want to mush your brain over.

I liked that it primarily focused on the romance of Finn ad Eva, and the minor happenings of Eva's sister Lottie, her bestie and co-worker Delilah, and Eva's volunteer work at an animal shelter.

It was super simple and easy to get into without external outside influences causing a damper upon everything.

I LOVED Finn but I got more of a sense of depth and respect for Eva. I'm not saying that Finn didn't go through hard and rough times, because I know that he had a past and went through his breaking points while trying to make it big in the music world.

But for Eva, I truly felt for her and her helplessness after losing Finn and the tailspin that ensued for her right after. It was a deafening process for anyone in that situation. How can you function normally after the person you thought was your world, and you theirs, ups and leaves right before you actually begin your life? Eva did possess a loving family support, but, Finn was the one she wanted to spend her hopes and dreams with and he abandoned her. I cannot begin to imagine.

Her plight and struggles, was a beast of its own. Combined with, the unknown demons that Finn has withheld about himself was definitely a wake up call. For her and him both.

A lovely, slow simmering romance of second chances, devastating loss, broken dreams, overcoming your pasts, and picking yourself up and looking toward the future for the best.

Cute and sexy read!!

We all have a list of authors that we will automatically read everything that is released by them and we know that we will love every single page of the story or at least we hope to god that we do. For me , Melody Grace is one of those authors on the list as I loved every other book that she has written and Heartbreaker was no different. Taking a step away from Beachwood Bay and The Callahans, we were given a new stand-alone story set in a small town called Oak Harbor. In Oak Harbor just gliding along in life is Eva. Five years ago, she had big dreams and was head over heels for Finn McCay - the bad boy everyone wanted from the wrong side of the tracks. Nobody knew about their relationship and then the day of graduation arrived and Finn was gone from her life without a single word. Now Five Years passed and Finn McCay became a big Music Star and Eva - was home now working as a office assistant in a local real estate agent office with her best friend. She tried her dream in New York, but discovered she wasn't cut out for the life that it came with. Finn McCay is now back in Oak Harbor and he has one thing on his mind - Eva as he has not stopped loving her. Will Eva give her heart back to Finn or will she protect and guard it as she never wants to go through the same feelings she did five years ago as it wrecked her and turned her into someone she never wanted to be . Also there happens to be a new vet Sawyer in town who also has his eyes on Eva ? Which one will Eva choose ? Will she stick with a new relationship with new Vet Sawyer or will she give her heart to the one who shattered it into tiny pieces five years ago ?

Focus, Eva. No distractions.

*Gives in*

Please, I beg the universe. Please don’t do this to me.

*Gives in*

And that's basically the tone of this whole book. Look, I love second chance romance. The angst, betrayal give me life. Haha. But I hate it when the heroine gives in so quickly.

The heroine keeps on talking about how she's gotta be strong, not giving on bla bla bla. But then she gives in. Again. And Again. And. Again.

It's annoying.

I'm rating this book 2.5 stars. I like to call these kinds of books , delaying the inevitable. I was disappointed in this read. I thought it would be a lot better than it was. I thought that the reason Finn left would be a good one but it's the most stupidest reason. Eva is just one of those kinda forgettable characters there's nothing extraordinary or special about her. I hated that Eva ruined her chance to be an actress. She ruined her chance to make her dream come true because of Finn. Finn was an ok rockstar type character. I didn't hate or love any of the characters in this book. The whole book was delaying the inevitable. Through most of this read I kept wondering when is Eva going to tell Finn he broke her heart. It took the couple way too long to have the confrontation. And, Eva forgave Finn way to easily. What Eva did, her choices she made were just stupid. One example is She made her sister an excuse to not follow her dream. And she screwed up her own chance. She followed the most stupid advice ever. Honestly" hey the guy broke your heart sleep with him, you'll move on from him that way." Overall the second chance romance aspect was good. The love interests fit together. But this book was not for me and I didn't like it.

Melody Grace does it again with her new stand-alone novel Heartbreaker. Heartbreaker is a sweet, funny, sexy second chance love story.

Eva and Finn were unlikely couple from the start, she was the shy quiet girl and he was the troubled bad boy but together they were perfect for each other. High school sweets hearts till Finn ups and leaves without a word leaving Eva devastated. 5 years have passed and Finn is back with one thing set in his sights, Eva. Thousands of questions have followed Eva around for the past 5 years. Why did he leave? Where has he been? Can she trust him again?

I really enjoyed Heartbreaker. It was a fun easy read with some angst and a whole lot of steam! ;) I always enjoy Melody’s stories and Heartbreaker didn’t disappoint. I recommend this to everyone, especially if you are a fan of second chance romances.

5 Second Chance Stars!!

"I forgotten how it felt. The way he looked at me, the way his touch could make me forget my own name. I'd never felt something so wild and intoxicating, a rush that blotted out all reason and consequence, and just made me demand more, closer, now."

"I'll do anything for you, baby. Anything you want. I will love you until the end of the fucking world, but you don't shut me out again. When I take you, I take all of you. Every last piece of you, body and soul."

"There are no guarantees in love, only a leap of faith. Sometimes the answer is waiting. You just have to choose. This man. This moment. Forever."

Melody Grace has done it again. She has once again created a beautiful heartwarming second chance romance that will leave you swooning and that will captivate your heart.

Told from dual points of view, Heartbreaker sucks you in from the very first page. From the moment we meet Finn and Eva, we have to know more. Eva and Finn shared a beautiful, but young love. They both had so many big dreams, but life had other plans. Finn believed the lies his father instilled in him and thought the only way he could make Eva happy, would be to leave her behind. And five years later, Finn will realize that leaving Eva behind was the worst thing he could have ever done. When Finn returns home for a much needed break, he's only got one thing on his mind and that is seeing Eva. From the moment he sets eyes on her, it's as if nothing has changed. His feelings for her are stronger than ever and he is more determined than ever to set things right and win Eva back....If only things were that easy. You see, when Finn left Eva behind, he not only broke her heart, but broke her spirit. Eva's life would continue to spiral out of control until one day she gets a much needed wake up call that sends her back home. She never dreamed that she would see Finn again. And now that she has, she doesn't know what to do. Part of her wants to see where things can go, while the other part remembers the hurt and doesn't want to take a chance. Will Finn and Eva be able to let go of the past and get that second chance they both deserve? You're just going to have to read for yourself to find out......

What can I say about Heartbreaker? I. Loved. It. I loved it. I loved every single hearbreaking, swoon-worthy moment. Melody Grace has once again created book magic. She has given me a well-written and utterly consuming second chance romance. This is one of those reads that will just tug at your heart and it is one that will be impossible to put down. If you are a fan of Melody Grace's stories, then you know that you're going to get a swoon-worthy alpha male. You will be getting a consuming, heartfelt romance. The characters will be easy to relate to and the story will have just the right balance of angst and drama. And I have to tell you, Heartbreaker hits all those points and more. I don't know what else to say other than I loved this story. Fans of Melody Grace, you are going to want to run out and grab your copy of Heartbreaker asap. It is one second chance romance that should not be missed.

I couldn't get through it! I just hate hate HATE when none of the characters ask questions! He left her with no goodbye years back but she is still the shy, timid girl as before? Lets meet, lets f*ck but noooo I will not ask why you left me heartbroken... it doesn't make sense! So frustrating!

I'm fucking horrible.

Here is this amazing read from an author who I insta-click on...Who granted me the opportunity to read it as an ARC and... I forgot to fucking ramble.

Moving on...

I had to give this a re-read. :D
I did not regret this re-read! I love me my second chance romance. Enjoy the push and pull effects. Melody Grace always has this simplicity way about her writing that makes you become consumed so effortlessly. I don't know how she does it, but I don't ever find myself complaining.

We have Finn and Eva, past lovers, a secret to everyone but more real than anything either of them has ever experienced. Finn left the love of his life, not knowing he was painfully ripping her heart out, causing her to feel such unexplained loss. I didn't like his reasoning but he was young and by right stupid. What I love was his determination.

What I fucking hated loved was his will power!

You're going to beg for me, beg for another inch, and when I finally give it you, when I finally let you come, that's when you'll know. You belong to me, baby. You'll always be mine.

What made me love and felt for Eva was the fact that even though internally we got to see how she really feels, she was strong on the outside. She dropped everything to be there for her sister, and even though everyone thought she was okay, she wasn't. And Finn knew instantly.

Even after so many years, Finn still got Eva and he still was patient enough to learn more about her.

I love their times together...and their times together :D

It. Was. Amazing.

I cannot deny the awesomeness of this book, nor can I not read the rest O_O

Beware of Spoilers!

Star Ratings:
Heroine (Eva): 21yrs old – 3/5
Hero (Finn): 24yrs old – 2.5/5
Plot: 3/5
Grovel: none
Cheating: I can forgive the hero for being a manwhore during their separation as the heroine also slept around
HEA: yes but no epilogue
Triggers:

Average score: 3/5

Best Lines: “You can never have too many books”

Worst Lines: “Give it up, get it on, and with any luck, you’ll fuck him right out of your system.” – this never works

H to h: “Every girl, every city, it’s always you. I feel you when I push inside them,” he continues roughly. “It’s your voice I hear when they’re begging for more. I’ve fucked you a hundred times over” – and he says this to her as they get it on…

Personal Review:
This was an average second-chance love story between a wannabe actress and a famous musician. It had all the typical themes of the hero being a manwhore and leaving the heroine behind only then to disrupt the heroines life five years later and pursue her. Heroine then believes she can fuck him out of her system but ends up chasing after him.

I have read better second-chance romances but then again I have read worse too. I realise that I love second-chances romances because of the payoff of the hero grovelling and there are only a handful of romances that I have read which have this great payoff. Unfortunately, this is not one of them.

Random Ramblings:
•Hated that he called for Edith at THAT moment
•Wish the heroine made him grovel
•The heroine’s inner dialogue started to get annoying around the 75% mark because it was so repetitive

Overall Feeling:

I just finished Heartbreaker and I really enjoyed it. This is a first for me by this author and trust me it will not be my last!

Eva is running through the motions of life, restless and it is all because of Finn, her high school sweetheart. He up and left her with no word after graduation, leaving her brokenhearted. No matter what she does, Finn is always there. He is a famous singer now, it was always his dream and he has fulfilled it. 5 years later and it still hurts to this day. Finn walks back into her life unexpectedly and all the hurt and anger comes back full force. He is back for her though. He knows what he did was wrong, he has his reason but she is it for him. Will Eva be able to forgive Finn for leaving? just read and see!

This was a good story, even though done before, it is done in a way that Melody made it her own. the words she wrote pulled me in from the get go. Eva and Finn had alot of depth and you could really feel their anguish about what was done in the past. I also enjoyed the secondary characters, Sawyer, Delilah, Lottie. Would enjoy reading their story!

This was a fast paced yet sexy read that gave me all the feels! I would definitely recommend this to my girls!

Sex 5

“Damn right it is.” Finn’s gaze slides lower, and when he looks up again, there’s a hungry look in his eyes that makes my stomach curl. “Any time you want a Sunday worship, you let me know.”

I loved some of the quotes!

I love rock stars. So I didn't waste a time buying this one. The story wasn't bad, but certainly needed more. More character development. Eva and Finn are ok. Don't like them or hate them. They are just ... they are. The plot was sweet and romantic, you know all about second chances, but could have been much better.

Heartbreaker was an amazing read!

A fantastic stand alone that was so easy to become emersed in. The writing style flows so nicely and paints such a beautiful picture of the scenery and the characters’ emotions as well. The story unfolds in such a way that keeps you guessing about the future, while clinging to the pages for more of the past and present.

Finn and Eva tell their story in this novel from the first person, in dual POV. Each sharing their unique perception on their past, their demons, their love, and the passion they share for one another. Reunited after heartbreaking years spent apart, the tension and passion between to the two is palpable.

The secondary characters were each unique and fabulous, too. All of them adding demention and layers to the story as they interacted with Finn and Eva.

The romance and passion between the two ignites into multiple delicious steamy scenes.

If you haven't checked out a Melody Grace novel yet, they are each beautiful stories with well developed characters, that are so easy to lose yourself in.

I am shedding happy tears after reading this book!

This is a love story that grows from a teenage first love to an all-encompassing commitment between two lovers to hold strong to each other. How they get there, through all the broken promises, horrible life tragedies, and final effort to reset their lives, is the story you do not want to miss.

I read everything Melody Grace writes. I love her writing style... like an easy chair you can just cuddle in and enjoy your time in it. Her books all have raw realism with characters that can be your best friends. The journey through life of these characters is one we understand because we all have been there.

Finn has come back for Eva because he knows now that his life is incomplete without her. He walked away once to give her the chance to flourish. It did not work for either of them. Now he must convince her to take a chance on their love. His courtship is incendiary HOT. Cold showers are recommended!

This book is Melody Grace at her best!

The feels! Oh, the feels had me wrapped up so tightly, it was like someone was gripping my heart and refusing to let go! This book is a second chance romance book with young lovers who were too young to understand the impact of the choices they were forced to make. Their heartache was real. Their love was real. The angst real. And their sexy-times scenes were smokin' hot, filled with dirty talk and possessive need. Finn and Eva lit up my Kindle like fireworks on the fourth of July, and when the book was over, I was left smiling and thankful for the journey I just took with them. I'm hoping this is the start of a new series for Melody, as Eva's sister and BFF definitely have stories to be told!!

If you are new to Melody Grace, pick up this book! Pick up her Beachwood Bay series. But don't go another day without having her sweet and sexy, small-town romance novels in your life!

First of all, kudos on the cover model. Wowza!!

I'm a sucker for a second chance love story and this was a good one. It had some key elements that I liked such as young love, angst through misunderstandings, music, and reconnecting.

If you're looking for a deep story and heavy plot, you won't find it here. This book is not full of feels. However, it was still an enjoyable light read. The MCs, Eva and Finn, were equally likeable and their chemistry was intense. Melody Grace has a knack for writing steamy sex scenes lol.

There were some minor editing mishaps, but my true disappointment was in the ending. They get their HFN but it was really just... meh.

Enjoy! xo
