Insanity goes deeper than the soul. At least that's what 27 year old Jeremy Pearce is beginning to experience. He sees the devil; a devil who is hell-bent on bringing down the apocalypse. Will Jeremy be able to save the world before it's too late?
This is all about the Good vs Evil and who's side is the good side. It would force you to pick a side then make you question if you are really capable of true goodness. AND at the end of the story, you would definitely view Satan and the Angels with a different light.
The story revolves around Jeremy Pearce a mental hospital escapist and his meeting with Lucifer the famous fallen angel, the devil himself. The manipulative charms of the devil is very much like the siren call so it's understandable how Jeremy readily falls into the devil's plan to bring forth the Apocalypse. Jeremy was told he was an essential ingredient for Lucifer's grand design for humankind or we should call it the idealistic re-designing of humankind. Lucifer's offer was tempting enough that I caught myself fantasizing about it. It is something most would die for and here, Lucifer eagerly proffers it. Of course nothing in life comes for free especially for such a coveted prize. What are you willing to sacrifice? Best still, who's life are you willing to use as a trading chip to secure said prize?
What good would come out of following the devil? Jeremy was lead into committing various horrid deeds, some was willingly done while there are others not as eagerly carried out by him. This crazy journey with the devil has certainly changed Jeremy. For the better or for the worst? I'll leave that to you to make that judgment for yourself. Afterall this story is about making the right choices and for that we need to polish our judgment skill.
I did like some aspects of this book. Like how it would sometimes compel me to evaluate myself, makes me think a little deeper. Asides from that there are a number of quotes I liked and below is a quote which is simple yet forceful enough to remind us of that we have always forgotten to take good advantage of our mind power. We should really be a good slave driver when it comes with our mind. Make it work harder for us. Abuse it more and often. Make it yield to us in total submission! Most of us does tend to underestimate the power of the mind and the marvel of the universe. In essence we are all a mass of energies, each with our own unique frequencies. I believe that our thoughts are very much like radio signals to the universe to select the channels we wanted. Fundamentally, we hold our own future because our thoughts brings us our future. Hence do be careful of what you wish for >:D
I enjoyed trying to figure out Lucifer and having him keeping me on my toes. He is such an elusive guy. A goal driven entity fearless in pursuing his ideal and always confident with himself. Like Jeremy, I couldn't take his word without a measure of doubt although it is very hard not to be swayed by his persuasiveness. He could be so sweet and nice when he wanted to be.
There is a point where I felt the book zaps all my happiness away and I am left moping in the dark. Also there are times when I felt like putting the book aside to stop it from further draining my energy. Asides that, the going was painfully slow for me in the beginning and I had to push myself a little to continue. Maybe too much preaching from the devil? The brainwashing is tiring me out. Lol. As for the horror aspect, I am curiously undisturbed although it wasn't lacking in the morbid department since this is a horror fiction.
I am also not liking how some plots doesn't smooth over well enough for me to eat it up. Besides that, at times Jeremy's idiotic moves frustrates me and jolts me out of the believe-zone. Lastly I am sorry to say the ending didn't worked for me. It was anti-climax and too simplistic after all that initial grand buildup. I see strings hanging and I am itching to tie it up like a pretty bow just to quench my thirst to know how some things would end. Sniffing and pouting a little, the ending left me dying in a desert alone and lonely, that's figuratively speaking of course. Maybe it's just me... just my over inquisitiveness to be blamed for feeling such a way. Everybody does have their own unique perception right. Okay, if anyone is pressing to know if this one ends with a sweet happily ever after... click To be clear, I am happy with the outcome for the protagonist, only disappointed the ending was too mild, nothing like the earth shattering ending I expected.

"I See the Devil" is a character driven novel about Jeremy, a young mentally ill patient who has attempted suicide because of a real/imagined relationship with the Devil. One night, he breaks out of the hospital with a fellow patient named Aidan after which a series of events occur that Aidan claims can bring on the Apocalypse.
The writing is very poetic at times and the author is able to express both the Main Character's concerns and mental issues very well. My favorite parts were the hazy episodes where Jeremy couldn't tell fact from fiction (don't want to give spoilers so I'm not being specific). My biggest issue with the book lies with the movement of plot. Most often, because she is delving into the characters, there is a lot more telling than action - for example - something will happen but instead of it playing out in the story it is revealed through conversations between Aidan and Jeremy.

Where to start with this book.... I would give this book a 3.5 if you could, I liked it but it was not one of my top fav's. This book was crazy, like literally crazy. When I started reading the book I felt as if I was in the mind of a mad man. The words of his thoughts were jumbled and insane and the author did an excellent job at making you see and feel his crazy thoughts. At times the book dragged along and was confusing due to the jumbled thoughts of Jeremy, but it added to the insanity. It was about a young man Jeremy who was locked up in a psych ward, until he meets Aidan. His new found friend convinces Jeremy that he can break them out, which of course is something Jeremy would very much like. I mean come one, who wouldn't want freedom after being locked up and drugged heavily in the psych ward?!?!? When they finally break out, Jeremy discovers that his new found friend is actually Lucifer and he plans to make Jeremy the new Antichrist. The story has some pretty interesting twists and turns and is definitely unique. The only complaint I would have is the ending.... I feel that it could have had a better ending, it was too boring and bland for the story. I was definitely disappointed and felt that something big should have happened. Overall, this book was a good read and very creative. The author has a way with crazy and sure makes you feel the insanity within Jeremy's world. It is definitely worth at least a first read.
It appears that this book is no longer available to purchase - which is a shame because it's not a bad read by any means, and with some tidy up would be a decent one. The story is an apocalyptic tale of the Devil and the Antichrist, but it's quite a personal tale considering that backdrop. The blend of insanity and Satan's plan is an interesting one, but is something that could have been developed further.
The plot is solid, although there is a section near the end that I felt detracted from the story overall. Up until that point it had been quite tight, with few characters and suddenly expanded. While it's usually worth seeing what the other side are up and does raise the question of what actually is evil, it detracted from the core story.
Another issue is that the text could have done with another edit pass. It's not a major complaint, but there were just enough errors to be noticeable. Those issues aside this was an entertaining read. There's a good touch of the darkness in here and it's well paced and for the most part well crafted.

To be honest I don't know if I can give this a fair review at this time because my reading time with this has been so disjointed...I think I would have enjoyed it more if I had of just been able to sit down and read it and not concentrate on anything else going on in my life at this point in time.
Which doesn't mean that I didn't it lol! I just picked a bad time.
Anyway
He's like the hand of fate, dragging me along, making me question my own limits.
Good vs evil. One of the oldest stories out there, but told in a unique and crazy way.
I'm always up for mental, twisted, and dark. This was that. Questioning your sanity is always fun for me lol.
I see the Devil by Cyma Rizwaan Kahn REVIEWED BY: Anne Marie
If your into the power struggle of good verses evil then this is the book for you! Jeremy is plagued by his volatile friendship with Aiden who claims to be Lucifer. From breaking out of psych wards to taking hostages, together these two are out to rid the world of evil and bring about the apocalypse. And everything comes to a head when the angel Gabriel appears to try to sway Jeremy to the good team. Lots of thrills in this one! Violent and mature read but really thought provoking. Strong adult language but it plays into the scenes well. Still left me asking questions(good questions though)but its written well and provides an engaging read.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review (LoP). WELL this book was definitely different! I liked it though. Didn't love it, but I did enjoy reading it.
Basic summary: Jeremy is a patient in a mental ward. He befriends Aiden, who helps him escape. Only when they escape, Jeremy finds out Aiden is really Lucifer....the devil himself, and he tells Jeremy that he is the antichrist and wants him to help bring on the apocalypse.
I like the concept of the story. At times I wondered if it was all in Jeremy's head, just some delusional daydream he was having. I thought some parts were kind of vague, but overall it was a good read, so I gave it 3 out of 5 stars.
I was given this book for an honest review from LOP (Lovers of paranormal).
Where do I start? I'm so confused about this book. I mean really? What was it about?? I understand that it was about an apocalypse, and there was angels and the devil. But really, WHAT WAS IT ABOUT?? There is some murder, and some dialog. Some twisted scenes, but mostly just confusion. This book is ALL OVER THE PLACE. Seriously. The plot is just out there, not really at all believable, and the characters REALLY need worked on. Yes I get it, they have a bit of a back story, but they lack soul! I was extremely disappointed in this novel. That was a waste of 5 days of my time, when a book this long should only take me 1.
