Celebrity dog trainer Prudence Cassidy never imagined her life would be like this. Filming in Hollywood went haywire when she caught the charismatic Mr Hollywood’s eye—but Prue doesn’t have room in her life for complications. She’s still recovering from retrograde amnesia so she flees to Robertson, home of the ‘Big Potato’ in country Australia, determined to start anew.
For Darius Dalton, family comes first. Always. His architectural dreams can wait while he tends bar in the family restaurant in Robertson, dazzling patrons with his cocktails whilst maintaining the complex he built with his late father. Day in, day out, work is all he sees—until Prue.
When she moves into his apartment building, Darius falls head over paw for the animal-loving brunette—and it seems she feels the same way. Their chemistry is undeniable. The more time they spend together, the more Darius questions if he can have it all: a life outside of work, and love.
When Mr Hollywood himself comes to town, intent on winning her back and casting her simple life in the spotlight, who will Prue choose?
That’s the thing about the past—your dirty laundry will always find you.
Jennifer Ryder is a bestselling romance author who loves to write about small towns, swoony heroes and strong females who aren’t afraid to fight for what they want.
Born and bred in Canberra, now living on a rural property in New South Wales, Australia, she enjoys the best of city and country. Her loving husband is ever willing to provide inspiration, and her two young cherubs, Jack Russell named Buddy and sheep that don't see fences as barriers, keep life more than interesting.
This was a fairly easy read and it had likeable characters. I liked Prue, Darius and also George. I liked how I could picture the town it was set in and the places the characters visited (because I am Aussie and they are Australian towns nearby for me), and I always love small town books/series. There were some hurdles for our characters but they really understood each other and I enjoyed how things all played out. There was one thing in the end I would've liked a firm answer on, but otherwise everything was really nice.
Just what I needed! Great story about a new start in the beautiful little town of Robertson, where love blossomed, betrayal happens and to new friends who become family. Prue moved to Robertson to start fresh after a horrific accident that changed her life. The neighbor, Darius was a very nice looking guy and became very helpful when he decided he would offer to install Prue’s washing machine. There was something about Prue that drew him to her and he could not get her out of his mind once he met her in the elevator on the day she was moving into her apartment. Loved the setting in this town of Robertson, which I googled and searched the real estate apps lol. This story was a great read for a cosy day and the romance was just right! Love your work Jennifer!!
This book was just what I needed while not feeling great seemed an excuse to curl up and read in one go. Pru is a dog trainer, an interesting girl with amnesia for all her childhood. An accident that took her mother and left her in a coma so everything is new again. She had a stint as dog handler in a movie and now she's home from Hollywood making a new life. Her neighbour across the hall Darius takes an instant liking to her and helps her with a few things in her apartment. All the characters in this story were likeable, or love to hate in one case. Set in Australia I love my bit of sightseeing of an area I've not been to. The story was emotional, yes I cried and not just happy tears. I did not see that ending coming, well done, great book.
I was gifted a ARC copy of “Dirty Laundry” for an honest review. Jennifer Ryder is a remarkable author and Dirty Laundry just proves this once again! Dirty Laundry was everything I’d dreamed it would be and more. This book was so hard for me to put down and I ended up finishing it in two days! Jennifer Ryder sent me on an emotional roller coaster but I loved every minute of it. For a lighthearted romance look no further than “Dirty Laundry” out June 20, 2024
Looking for a fun, something to get you out of a funk, light hearted book with a touch of seriousness, Look no further!
It's been a LONG time since I stayed up into the early hours of the morning to finish a book but I couldn't stop. Neglecting my motherly duties for one night couldn't hurt... Starting the book on a school night at 6pm probably wasn't the smartest decision but as soon and I started reading about Pru and Darius I couldn't stop.
Pru has to be one of the most unique female characters I've read, suffering from amnesia and a Hollywood dog trainer YES PLEASE!
Enter Double D! Darius Dalton, sexy name for a swoon worthy male lead. A bar tender with a broken heart and family drama say no more. Pour me some drinks and take me to bed.
Living in such close quarters and getting to know someone, who said neighbours with benefits can't work...or can it?
What a sweet romance this has been! Set in a small town, Robertson, in Australia, and yes, I googled it! Very pretty, and the potato is a thing! Prue has moved there with her dog, Harry, from working as a dog trainer in Hollywood, and on the first day, while moving in, she meets Darius, bartender, landlord, all round good guy! I loved their romance. It's one that has heart and brings a much needed link to a family, something she no longer has. There is a mystery to her past, which is unveiled piece by piece. She and Darius are, in so many ways, kindred spirits. Kind, hard working, and a bit lost. With confident writing and a good main cast, Dirty Laundry has been a read which is good spirited and needed in this very wet summer, where beach time is scarce. 💖💖💖💖
Another incredible small town story from this author. Prue and Darius’s story had me turning the pages. I just loved both of them. Prue settles into the town Robertson after living in LA. She is a dog trainer. She comes back home to Australia after she finished as a dog handler on a movie set. I found her character fascinating especially as she suffers from amnesia after a horrific car accident. Darius, is her neighbour in her apartment building. There is an instant attraction between them. Darius helps run the bar downstairs. Their journey was incredibly beautiful, with some tears and some sexy times. This really was a gorgeous story. I expect nothing less from this author.
Prue is finding her new home in a small town in Australia. Her neighbor, Darius, is very nice for the eyes, and she quickly learns that his personality is totally different from what she has experienced while being on a movie set. But when Mr. Hollywood turns up at her door, who can she trust? I loved the banter between Darius and Prue from the start. I loved how he showed interest in her, but he was juggling life between work and all his ither duties. But from the start, I could see that he really cared for her, and he finds the right way (eventually) to show her.
When celebrity dog trainer heads back home to Australia, leaving behind the glitz and glamour of Hollywood, the last thing she expects to find is love.
But the sparks don't just fly, they set fire to everything around them when she meets Darius.
Add in puppers and pets and Ryder had me hooked.
Both Prudence and Darius are dealing with crap from their pasts, and together they can be perfect for each other, right?
But the road to true love is never smooth, and our lovelies have their fair share of rocks in that road, but you can't help but be cheerleaders as they make their way forward in life.
I love the small town vibe of the story, and knowing the town where Dirty Laundry is set really helped me fall in love with the town and the characters - and there is some fantasic secondary characters - but you don't need to know the town to love it.
I would not say no to returning to this series and these characters in the future.
Small town vs Hollywood! Think I knew which way I was leaning right from the start of this quick, flirty feel-good read from Jennifer Ryder.
Prudence Cassidy settles into Robertson, Australia after the bright lights of Hollywood and a broken heart. She's ready for some stability and to build herself a future, after tragedy changed her life and cleaned her slate. Only, the instant chemistry from her hot swoon-worthy new neighbour (I think I've a renewed love of a man-bun and beard!), and a surprise visit from the heartbreaker himself, threaten to throw that newly found stability right out the window.
I love the positive messages of strength and respect for women Ryder delivers with this storyline, such an important one today, with the aptly heightened attention of domestic violence, and assault and abuse against women in local and world media.
This story and its message is as uplifting and heartwarming, as it is sexy and fun, and an easy 4.5 star recommend.
This is Prudence and Darius’s story. Prue is a celebrity dog trainer, and having suffered amnesia for most of her childhood after a horrific accident where she lost her mom, she moves to Robertson for a fresh start. To Darius family always comes first, and he has put his own dreams on the back burner, to tend bar at his family’s restaurant. When Prue moves into Darius’s apartment building, there is an instant attraction. This is a well written story which is an emotional roller coaster, with family, friendships, undeniable chemistry, mystery, humor, witty banter, kindred spirits, and love, which leads to an entertaining, heartwarming, and sweet small town romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Dirty Laundry captivated me with its intriguing storyline and interesting characters. I wholeheartedly recommend you read this book. Prudence has left the glitzy life in hollywood to return home to Australia. Suffering from amnesia, she starts her new life in Robertson. When she meets Darius, let’s just say sparks fly. However she needs to tread carefully, especially not knowing certain aspects of herself. Darius is charming, protective and a family man. I loved the way these two form a friendship but their sizzling chemistry explodes off the pages. Adding pets into the story made my heart happy and I shed a few tears as well. This book was an emotional roller coaster!
