One Wild Night Wild Rush Prequel (Short Story) The first in a sexy, boundary-pushing New Adult series (Can be read before or after THIS WICKED RUSH, Wild Rush Book 1.)
One night can change your life...
"Come on, Caitlin, let me help you get what you need."
The way he says it, it’s about so much more than money. It’s about the way he makes my skin hot and my lips tingle, it’s about the way he makes my heart race and banishes the exhaustion that’s been my constant companion since I quit school to be a full-time surrogate parent. It’s about the flicker of hope he lights inside me. That flame isn’t much bigger than a candle right now, but I can sense how easy it would be for it to grow, to rise higher and higher until it sets my world on fire.
I’m standing at the threshold of a moment that will change my life, and not necessarily for the better. I know that, I know it with everything in me, all the way down to the marrow of my bones.
But still I nod. And take his hand. And let him lead me out into the night.
Fans of Lauren Blakely and Jasinda Wilder will love the edgy, sexy, boundary-pushing Wild Rush series.
ONE WILD NIGHT (Wild Rush prequel) THIS WICKED RUSH (Wild Rush Book 1 April 2014) ONE PERFECT LOVE (Wild Rush Book 2 July 2014)
Jessie Evans writes small town, contemporary romances and sexy, boundary-pushing New Adult reads and loves hearing from her readers. Find her at www.jessieevansauthor.com.
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, Jessie Evans, gave up a career as an international woman of mystery to write the sexy, contemporary romances she loves to read.
She's married to the man of her dreams, and together they're raising a few adorable, mischievous children in a cottage in the jungle. She grew up in rural Arkansas, spending summers running wild, being chewed by chiggers, and now appreciates her home in a chigger-free part of the world even more.
When she's not writing, Jessie enjoys playing her dulcimer (badly), sewing the worlds ugliest quilts to give to her friends, going for bike rides with her house full of boys, and drifting in and out on the waves, feeling thankful for sun, surf, and lovely people to share them with.
So I wasn't going to review this, but I found myself looking for pictures of my cast and then... well you know the rest. I'll keep this short.
With a good for nothing father who hasn't been able to keep a job in months, and a sister who up and left leaving a small baby, Caitlin is saddled with the responsibility of being a parent at 17. She's had to drop out of school to take of them and it's a daily struggle making ends meet, all she wants is to keep her family together. Her worst nightmare is losing her brothers and Emmie to the system.
With the threat of losing her home looming, Caitlin decides to use her twentieth birthday as the day she can let go for once in her life. This is also the day she sees Gabe. The resident bad boy, well at least that's what he was when she was in high school with him. A spoiled, rich kid, who didn't understand that other people had to work to survive. But Gabe has changed, and she sees this new side of him.
Okay so I'm seriously getting a Bonnie and Clyde/Robin Hood vibes from this book!. I'm very intrigued so I'll be reading book one, This Wicked Rush next!
I'd never pursue a girl who legitimately had no interest, but I know Caitlin wants me, and I want to feel her fingernails digging into my shoulders again, this time with no clothes between us. I want to feel her breath hot on my lips as she calls my name when when I make her come, and come, and come again, until neither of us can hold a thought in our heads and there is nothing in the world but how good it feels to fuck. ~ Gabe
I'm standing at the threshhold of a moment that will change my life, and not necessarily for the better. I know that, I know it with everything in me, all the way down to the marrow of my bones. But still I nod. And take his hand. And let him lead me out into the night. ~ Caitlin
This is the first I have read from Jessie Evans but I know it won't be the last. One Wild Night is a quick read but one that packs quite a punch in both emotion and action.
Caitlin is struggling to take care of her brothers and niece and is close to losing everything. But being her birthday she decides to let loose for a while before coming back to reality. She ends up dancing in a club with a guy who ends up being someone she went to school with. Gabe follows her back to her car and somehow convinces Caitlin to help him rob a store to help her keep the kids. The novella ends quickly after with the promise of a lot more from these two.
I actually wasn't aware this was a novella and that there was a series involved but now I'm glad there's a lot more to the story. I can't even imagine being in Caitlin's shoes working all the time to take care of her family. I do find it crazy what she ended up doing but that's what makes this such a great attention grabber. And with that ending you can't help but want to read more which is what I plan to do.
Caitlin is at her wit’s end trying to figure how she is going to make ends meet before she has to pay the tax man the following week, realizing that she doesn’t have a way to get there and this will mean that her brothers and niece will be split up into foster homes, a place she knows from experience is not a good place to be.
It is also her 20th birthday so her and her friend Sherry go out dancing, the only way she can escape her current situation.
In comes Gabe, a well off handsome man that she went to school with before she had to drop out to try to raise her siblings as her mom skipped out and her dad being an alcoholic was not helping.
Unbeknownst to Caitlin, Gabe is a man who knows how to get things, and he has decided to help her get what she needs. But will Caitlin go along with it….
This is a very quick read and I am looking forward to the next one!!!
I love Jessie and her books! this is a new genre for her and I love it! This is the prequel novella to This Wicked Rush. Caitlin is tired from working 2 jobs while raising her brothers and her niece, and she is only 20. On her birthday she decides she needs a night out. She goes out dancing and is approached by Gabe, a hot sexy guy who's looking for something different than his normal dates. There's heat, there's a smokin' connection and there's recognition! I think saying it's a wild night is a bit of an understatement! Do not miss this novella!
Now, he's sex in two-hundred dollar blue jeans. He is built like an athlete and moves like an animal, so completely uninhibited it makes even me feel reserved in comparison.
"Don't be afraid....You can trust me. I would never hurt you. I just want to make you feel good." "This is so much better than good."
**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**
This novella really grabbed my attention to this series and therefore I felt that I had no choice but to go out and buy the rest of the series to see what happens next. Yes, it was that much of a teaser.
We meet Caitlin, who has put her life on hold since she was 18 to basically raise her siblings and her sisters children. Now however with back taxes, Cait is struggling to hold things together in order that the family is not broken up and put into foster care.
On a night out she meets Gabe, a boy she went to school with before she dropped out and he gets her out of her good girl role within the night, yet she really lights his passion.
I really cannot wait to get my teeth into the next book to see what happens next with this normally good poor girl and rich bad boy Gabe.
I didn't realize that this book was a part of a series when I picked it up. Its an interesting look into these characters and the world they connect to.. However I was left feeling as if I was missing out on quite a bit. Obviously my lack of having read any of the connecting books in the series. I will say that I am intrigued. Will have to look into reading the other books in the near by future.
This is where it all starts. One of those defining moments, that just might lead to a lifetime of happiness. You’ve just got to recognize it and decide if it’s worth the risk. This is a short but definitely required read for the follow Jessie Evans books in the Wild Rush Triology. In One Wild Night, you meet Caitlin Cooney.
She’s definitely not your average twenty year old. Unfortunately circumstances have burdened her with the responsibility to hold her remaining family together, financially and as a parent figure. She has been saddled with the daunting task of raising her three younger brothers and her niece, after her father and sister selfishly abandoned the family.
Could you take this on at twenty years old? It’s a lot to wrap your head around and easy to empathize with her . Just like that, we cared about Caitlin’s happiness from the beginning.
Caitlin decides to indulge herself a little, for the first time in a long time. She plans to celebrate turning twenty with a rare night out. She and her best friend, Sherry, hit a local night spot where Caitlin can dance like no one is watching and be a normal carefree twenty year old getting her groove on. It is of course, only one night. She has no idea what the evening has in store for her when she begins dancing with an intriguing and handsome stranger. The air between the two of them is electric.
Gabe Alexander is used to having it all: good looks, charm, money and women throwing themselves at him. He spots Caitlin enjoying herself on the dance floor and he cannot take his eyes off of her uninhibited love of what she was doing and how it made her feel. Instantly, he’s drawn to her. Gabe’s never been one to take no for an answer and she’ll be no exception. As he drew closer to her he feels the pull of this woman, and it is stronger and so much more than anything he has previously experienced. He’s torn about what he presumes will be an easy pursuit and knowing he will eventually break this ethereal woman’s heart. Should he or shouldn’t he? Should is all he knows.
Conflicting at the same time, can Caitlin overcome the hand that she has been dealt? She has a full blown out multi-child family at the age of twenty?! It’s not as if there is a book to tell you how to do go about that, and not to mention the financial nightmares that accompany this responsibility. Will she let Gabe, the entitled Playboy, who seems to genuinely want to help her situation, actually help her or will he make things harder?
This prequel was a wonderful start to a great series! I was reeled in from the beginning and became completely vested in the relationship between Caitlin and Gabe. I rooted for them individually and waffled back and forth as a couple. It’s a messy relationship with super highs and frustrating lows. The eroticism is to be applauded. This is definitely a page turner and each chapter of each book will leave you aching for more.
Caitlin Cooney is up to her neck in responsibility. Left to care for her siblings and niece due to the irresponsibility of her parents and sister, she has her hands full. Forced to give up her chance at a better life, she is doing the best she can to keep her family together. Gabe Alexander has it all. Rich, good-looking, and smart, he can have anything that he wants. And what he wants is Caitlin...
Caitlin has had to work hard for everything in her life. When her parents and sister left, she was forced to decide between an education that would provide her with an opportunity to move beyond her circumstances and keeping her family together. Weighed down by the responsibility that she feels to provide for her 'kids,' she just wants the chance to get away from everything for one night and spend time being an average twenty-year-old girl. While out with her friend, she runs into Gabe, a former classmate. Caitlin and Gabe have little in common, but are completely drawn to each other. Tempted by his offer of a way to an easier life, Caitlin finds herself doing things that she would never have thought she would do. For his part, Gabe wants more time to get to know Caitlin, to have her in his life, and to take her along as he rights wrongs in their hometown.
Jessie Evans is a go-to author for me. I have not read one book of hers that did not thoroughly draw me in and leave me completely satisfied. 'One Wild Night,' while short, is the perfect set-up as the prequel in the 'Wild Rush' series. I am eager to see how the story of Caitlin and Gabe continues to unfold as the series progresses.
One Wild Night is a novella which introduces us to Caitlin and Gabe in Jessie Evans' new Wild Rush series. This is the prequel to This Wicked Rush and gives us some insight and background into these characters.
Caitlin is living a difficult life, having had to drop out of school to raise her three brothers since they cannot count on either of their parents, an alcoholic father who doesn't work and spends money faster than Caitlin can earn it and an absent mother who ran out on them. Caitlin is left to raise her niece as well since her sister has also run out. She is forced to work two jobs to support her family and is always struggling with money problems.
On the night of Caitlin’s 20th birthday, she decides to take the night off from her worries and responsibilities to spend an evening of fun with a friend. But when she unexpectedly runs into Gabe, he leads Caitlin on One Wild Night filled with a bit of danger not to mention an unexpected hot and steamy encounter. Despite the fact this is a novella, you may discover by the end of the book the need to fan yourself. Jessie has definitely taken her new Wild Rush series to whole new level of WOW!
I am really looking forward with great anticipation to reading the rest of Caitlin and Gabe’s story. Although this prequel is not a required read prior to beginning This Wicked Rush, it was definitely an enjoyable quick read and gave me a teaser of what I can expect.
This is my first Jessie Evans book and it was awesome! This is a prequel Novella in the Wild Rush Series, to be read before This Wicked Rush. It was a short, easy and sexy read.
Caitlin's life is full of responsibilities, much more any other woman turning twenty. So she decided that on her twentieth birthday she was going out with her best friend to a club for a night of dancing and letting loose. She had no idea what the night went bring when she starts dancing with a stranger....
Gabe is tired of the girls trying to change his bad boy ways. When he spots a girl on the dance floor that is dancing like nobody is watching he has to be near her. And when he does there is a pull between them. He knows there is something different about her and he will find out why...
Caitlin and Gabe are on fire. It's only a few hours but oh my God, Gabe is f*cking hot! He is straight to the point and knows exactly what to say. And yes, it sure is one wild night in a few different types of ways...
I highly recommend reading this novella.
Quotes:
It was my twentieth birthday, and I've got a fake ID burning a hole in my purse. I'm practically obligated to get wasted.
"Sometimes we don't know what kind of person we are until we're put into an impossible situation," Gabe says.
"If that's what you want, I say." "If you're too proud to beg, then feel free to come on over and you can ride me until-"
One Wild Night sets up the premise for This Wicked Rush. It chronicles the night Gabe and Caitlin meet and Gabe convinces her to help him on a pawn shop robbery. There is an immediate connection between Gabe and Caitlin that he intends to explore further, but he has to figure out a way to make her look beyond their shared past.
This was a quick introduction to the characters and situations that will be explored further in This Wicked Rush. Caitlin’s dire situation is established and it was hard not to sympathize with her plight. Raising 4 children as a 20 year old dropout on 2 dead end jobs isn’t easy on it’s own. Add in an alcoholic father who doesn’t work and spends money faster than Caitlin can earn it on her own, and a no win situation is born. Gabe offers Caitlin a way out, if she’s willing to take the risk.
As a stand alone, I would say this was just ok. As an introduction to the series, it was a great quick foundation to add insight and weight to this one scene. If it was bundled into a larger novel, it would get lost in the other overarching events of the story, where as a separate novella there is room to explore the back and forth feelings Caitlin experiences about her family situation and the possibility of a solution.
Thanks to Jessie Evans for providing me with a complimentary copy in return for an honest review. Will be posted at Reviews by Tammy and Kim.
This one was short and sweet and I can tell the the books to follow are going to be HOT!!!
Caitlin is overworked both at her two jobs and at home, yet she is still struggling to make ends meet. When the treat comes where all that she has worked and sacrificed for can and will be ripped from her, Caitlin is at a lost of what to do. Growing up in a dysfunctional family Caitlin had to grow up fast and become a surrogate parent to her siblings and her niece. Looking to let her hair down for one night, Caitlin goes out partying but her night is cut short as she runs into a blast from the past; Gabe Alexander. Is the night over or is it just beginning?
Gabe is looking for that one women to excite him tonight; he want's the bad girl who isn't afraid to let go of her inhibitions. Though his night started boring, when he sets eyes on the girl on the dance floor dancing her heart out, with no care in the world; things just got more interesting.
Caitlin embarks on a course that is set to change her life and her circumstances. Gabe offers a solution to Caitlin that is hard to refuse, but is it worth the risk?
This was a quick read, but the short plot that developed keep me reading and wanting more. I loved the risk taking in the story (though at times unreal), but the story, behind the story is what I'm looking forward to in the next book.
One Wild Night is the prequel for the Wild Rush Series and it is one amazing night that changes Caitlin Cooney's world. Caitlin has taken on the responsibilities of her younger siblings and baby niece, she's got the world on her shoulders and trying to balance it all without losing herself. Gabe Alexander is someone she knew in high school and though she always was attracted to him he was always that perfect, rich, arrogant guy that she steered clear. When these two reconnect, Gabe sees something in Caitlin he wants, someone that he wants to both help and show her how good they can be together.
This book was a departure from the other Jessie Evans books I'd read before. It's not sweet. It's not always happy. But it's always steamy. Always intriguing. And always, always a rush of adrenaline and emotion. So try this One Night and then dive into the rest of the Wild Rush series! I promise you won't be sorry!
Very well written and edited. I think this could be classified as a stand-alone, although you will definitely want to know what happens next.
This is a very short book that manages to squeeze in a backstory, introduce some interesting supporting characters, develop a very suspenseful plot and end with some very, very steamy foreplay. I wasn't expecting the emotional depth of the character development, but both main characters have very interesting backstories that combine to create an immediate sense of chemistry. Combined with some snarky internal dialog, this couple has irresistible hot mess written all over them.
I'm looking forward to the next book and highly recommend this one for fans of romance with some sizzle.
This review is for the whole trilogy (one wild night, this wicked rush, one perfect love)!!!! Well written with a heart breaking story, adorable and irresistible characters, situations that are at time funny and witty, sexy and hot or heart melting and deeply emotional!!! I loved every second of it! This trilogy is made of the kind of books you do not forget and keep a paperback of, to re-read time after time!!!! I was crying like a baby or smiling like a lunatic with these books!!! Jessy Evans makes you feel every little whimper as if they were yours and it can get highly emotional!!!!! Gabe and Caitlin welcome to my favorite couple's list! I ADORE YOU!!!!!
I knew I was excited about this new series by Jessie Evans, but I had no idea just how excited til I read this novella.
Loved it. Great characters, and fantastic drama/suspense and steamy scenes...
I always thought Jamison from Sweet To You in the Fire and Icing Series would be my favourite character from Jessie Evans...but Gabe might just surprise me yet.
This a nice introduction to the life of Caitlin and Gabe. She's had it rough being only twenty years old and responsible for her brothers and niece. She wouldn't give them up for anything, but she may have no choice when she may lose everything she's worked so hard for. One night can change your life in an instant. While out dancing Caitlin bumps into Gave and her life will never be the same again. He has a way to help Caitlin, but will she risk it?
No doubt this is a hot well writren read. But a few things, it really messes with my sence of right and wrong. And i also have a hard time buying that a young woman who has given up everythng can be so easily talked into commiting a crime vs accepting charity once. I doubt i will continue the series but think most will enjoy it
I love Jessie Evan's books so I gave this another try. Reread it and just really like it. I'm ready to see what happens next.
A great quick read that sets up a new series from Jessie Evans. Caitlin is a young woman struggling to keep her family together. Gable is a rich bad boy looking for adventure and to right some wrongs. One crazy night will change both their lives. Highly recommended.
This book gives you a little glimpse into Gabe and Catlin's worlds. It gives you a need to read the next one. It's a captivating four chapters that will leaving open mouthed and waiting for the next one. Full review at:http://allnightbooks.com/?p=206
Jessie Evan has done it again, its a quick read but leaves you wanting more. Definitely want to keep reading and find out what happens with Caitlin and her brothers and sisters and niece as well as with Gabe. They definitely have a Wild Night, totally not what I expected.
Another great freebie that hooks you into a series:-) lol I'm thinking I'm going to really like bad boy Gabe. We get a little taste of him in this one....I can't wait! I hope it's the best summer ever!
One Wild Night is a quick fun read that leaves you biting your nails waiting to see what will happen next. Caitlin in a young woman trying to keep her family together and bad boy Gave will either help her or destroy her ... can not wait to see what happens next !
Sexy, intense, fun start to new series. Worth the quick read to see if it's your thing. New adult, first person from both hero and heroine. Jessie Evans has a style that doesn't disappoint.
EEP!!! That was definitely something that got my attention! I have to know where the author is going with this story. Loved these characters and I need to get to know them better!
Caitlyn just turned 20 and she is trying to figure out how to save her family. If she doesn't come up with the money for the taxes they will lose their home and her brothers and niece will be put in foster care. After struggling to juggle the bills she heads out to celebrate her birthday with her best friend. Gabe is on a date with someone his mother set him up with. As she drones on about her charities he lets her know that he is not interested in what she has to offer. He is stopped by an attraction that he makes no bones about that it is his. While Caitlyn enjoys herself on the dance floor Gabe invites himself to join her. Their mutual attraction is instant. Until Caitlyn realizes who it is. She runs out of the bar and the night took a turn that was so unexpected. This story has me very intrigued about what is going to happen next. I see heartache, drama and suspense ahead. I can't wait to see what is next!
Modern Day Robin Hood or Bonnie and Clyde? - 5 stars
I had purchased this book about 6 months ago, but got busy and never got around to reading it, which is a shame because I LOVE Jessie's writing style and characters.
I have to say, this was unlike what I am used to reading as the characters are actually committing a criminal act, even if their reasons are honorable. I can totally understand where Caitlin is coming from since she has been desperately trying to hold her family together in every way she can. She dropped out of High School to raise her brothers and her niece after her Mother took off and her sister dropped off her baby and left. Her Father isn't much help either, since he prefers to drink his problems away, leaving Caitlin to provide for the family of six on her own.
Blake has all the money he wants and the ability to get away with almost anything. Why is he on this path of playing Robin Hood and why does he want to drag Caitlin along with him? I have to say that I loved the overall story and the characters and can hardly wait to see what happens in the next book. I will definitely be getting that one as soon as possible. ********** **Complimentary Copy provided by Author for an honest review, but also purchased the book to keep.**
Caitlin is a 20 year old that has to take care of her 3 younger brothers and 2 year old niece. Her mom isn't around and her dad is a drunk. Her sister is a loser who took off. Now Child Services might take away the kids and the bank wants the house because they owe property tax. Caitlin needs money and fast.
This whole book takes place in one day. Caitlin's 20 birthday to exact. For her birthday, her friend takes her out dancing at one of the bars in town. She starts dancing with this HOT MAN! Find out after the light flashes just right that she knows him from high school and leaves the bar right away. He follows. Caitlin's friend fills him (Gabe) in on Caitlin's money problems because I guess Gabe has lots of money. But I think Gabe has his own problems that we'll find out more about in later books.
Anyways, Gabe and Caitlin end up in the car and he convinces her to rob a place to get money. He could hand money over to her but stealing is much more fun. lol SO they get out and drive a little bit, stop and then his hands are in her pants and the book ends. Leave ya wanting more! :P
