Tara Normal is a compelling character out of the gate. Noel does a great job of setting up her character and putting forward what is at stake, in a world where ghosts are proven to exist, and where Tara Normal has the power to kick their butts and help people who need her. Noel's criticism of ghost hunting shows with lame, sensational characters constructed to seem realistic is on point. The artwork is beautiful and beautifully gory, exactly what you want out of such a fun rainy day read. And the ending will leave you wanting more! I read the next book immediately. Highly recommended, and a breath of fresh air for readers wanting more honest and strong heroines in their art and literature.
I got this book through a Kickstarter and it was the full compendium. I love to ghost hunt + I love superhero stuff like the Avengers so this was a really cool combo of the two ideas. Tara is kick ass and doesn't take any crap - which I love too. The art is very unique, clean and beautifully cinematic. The author seems pretty cool too - he shares a lot about his work and stories and offers great promotions and packages during his Kickstarter campaigns. I'll continue to support this writer and artist!!
Loved it! The author does a great job of developing Tara's character and leaves you wanting more. If you enjoy paranormal investigating, you will definitely dig this story.
This was not for me. The art was not particularly good, and I had some issues with the way this crossed genres, since the characters with supernatural powers messed with the ghost hunter paranormal reality show vibe of the book. I gather that this was mostly setting the scene for later issues, but I really didn't like this one, so I won't be continuing.
Read issue #5, the Edgar Allen Poe issue. Soo wanted to like this but the art was kinda amateur and the story wasn't well paced. I wanted this to be iZombie and it wasn't.
