TEMPLATE is an action thriller with cyberpunk flair. When a private security company attempts to make the perfect android soldier and fails, they speed up plans to try again under the assumption they learned from their mistakes. It is at this point that the main character, Beta, is created. Over the course of the series, her development is followed as she explores her own personality and discovers what she can and can't do not being in full control of herself.
My work has been featured in some licensed mobile video games you probably haven't played. A few years ago, I decided to pursue a career in writing comics and pitched nonstop to make that happen. When that didn’t do anything, I just started making my own and here I am! I currently reside in Raleigh, North Carolina.
So I wanted some comics, downloaded the Comixology app on Kindle, looked through the free section, and found this comic. I had no idea who the artist or the writer was, all I was interested in was the fact that it was free.
it's only one issue and in a span of thirty pages, you read the story about a powerful android woman, conspiratorial corporations, and lots of people getting beaten up. I enjoyed it, but it was forgettable, kind of typical despite that I gave it four stars.
If you like:
- Hot robot chicks filled with apathy.
- Dudes whispering to each others about destroying evil corporations.
- Those Sci-Fi Xbox games you enjoyed during your teen years or middle school days, such as Ratchet and Clank: Deadlocked.
Then you will just like this run of the mill cyberpunk comic.
A spy story with cyberpunk elements, Template has an interesting look, but little foundation for a compelling story in this first comic. A secret organization is trying to create android soldiers, and after their first attempt failed, they're giving it another go. The set up was kind of basic, there wasn't anything to create a connection to the main character, Beta, and the "cliffhanger" was obvious.
The premise is one I'm interested in, but I think they could have introduced Beta differently and let the backstory progress slowly over the series. Connecting the reader to the character in the first installment is important, and I don't think they did that.
Solid story and concept. A lot of talking and not a lot of action but it makes for a good premise and gives a good idea of what to expect in future issues.
Another of those sf comics with android, super evil corporation, cops and hot looking chicks. Doubt I'll read next issue but might read again ghost in the shell
