When Draculaura is led to believe she's the rightful heir to the vampire throne, she and her best ghoulfriends are whisked away to Transylvania for a royal coronation to die for. But they soon discover the hunt for the queen is not over yet. The Ghouls must locate an ancient artifact known as the Vampire's Heart in order to discover the identity of the true Vampire Queen. I thought this book was very good because it was funny and I really loved the characters like Clawdeen,Cloe,Frankie, and Howleen. I think you should really read this book.

I wrote a longer review but goodreads ate it. To summarise- this book is just stereotypes stitched together to sell dolls. It reads like an extended episode from one of those lazily written tv shows that are really just a way to market toys.
I am sick to death of teenage girls being portrayed as vapid and shallow and mainly interested in fashion and boys even when they are doing things. A female character on p 126 gains power by wearing high heels which make her "almost" as tall as the bad guy and looking "fangulous" (I think they mean fabulous with a horror theme). I don't mean gains power in a mystical sense, here we have the inscription of fashion as female power.
The "horror" element I actually found horrifying because to inhabit a world of mindless consumption and the superficial with a side of "empowered" non-feminism that is grounded in compulsory heterosexuality and narrowly defined beauty is one of my nightmares. However for people who are looking for actual horror genre...no these are just runway models with "monster" makeup on.

Frights Camera Action
PLOT: After watching an unsatisfying movie about Veronica Von Vamp, Draculaura is HOT! This is NOT how it was in the Vampire Court! So the others monsters begin to tease her & hint that what if she herself is the Queen. It turns out someone else has this idea. Not successful in finding the real Vampire Queen with the locator heat (and honestly with very little effort because he's content with his temporary position as the ruler) Lord Stoker (after being pressured by the Court) chooses Draculaura because of her naivety and plans to make her his puppet. Only Draculaura finds out (when she arrives) & she and the ghouls (Clawdeen, Cleo) & Hoo-dude set out on a trek through Londoom, New Goreleans, & Hauntlywood (with help from the clues left by Elizabat Lord Stokers missing niece) to find the real heart which will lead them to the true Queen.
MY THOUGHTS: Not a lot of thoughts (or notes) on this one. Draculaura looks absolutely gorgeous on the cover & I often wonder why the dolls fail sometimes in comparison to hold up to this standard. As far as the plot, as dumb as I feel about this when I first watched this I was slow on the uptake & didn't connect Veronica to Elizabat as being the same ghoul. Much as the MH girls didn't connect the two romantic male leads to be the same guy. Which I think surprised me more than the Veronica/Elizabat reveal. But looking back on it I should have because much like Haunted and The Red Lady who else was it gonna be? The MH movies (used mostly to promote the dolls) aren't that complex in their mysteries. And (with the male actors) I should have because Gill kept saying it and kept saying it. "Don't these guys look alike to anyone else?" I think as a MH book/movie it falls somewhere in the middle of my list of likes/dislikes list of all the ones I've seen. It's 1. Scaris City of Frights 2. Ghouls Rule (tying for my favorites) 3. 13 Wishes 4. Boo York Boo York 5.Freaky Fusion 6. Frights Camera Action 7 Why Do Ghouls Fall In Love (then the lesser ones) 8. Escape From Skull Shores 9 Friday Night Frights 10 Fright On 11 Haunted. I haven't seen Welcome to Monster High as of yet. Just like in all the new books/movies we get some new characters Elizabat/Veronica, Honey Swamp, Viperine, Clawdia, Ygor, and Lord Stoker. Let's start with Elizabat/Veronica. Much like Draculaura, I wasn't very impressed with Veronica's "acting". But it wasn't her falsehood of the "story" it was of her skill in itself. She was almost cartoonishly over dramatic when delivering her lines and it came off very fake. Somehow though the big hair worked for me. Elizabat while she did step up to the plate, in the end, ran away from her responsibilities & I respect more so people (in this case monsters) who do what needs to be done despite fear when life gets scary. Honey was charming & as a doll, I liked that she's the only one that has curly hair. (Leading me to believe she's meant to be black) & because she's from Goreleans. (Just my guess) Ygor in his bumbling sidekick way was also charming & I was glad in the end he got to finally see a movie & mercy was shown to him by the other monsters. Viperine was one of those characters that was just kind of thrown in the mix & not spent a lot of time on. Although we see she's kind-hearted and believes in repaying favors. It's a shame she wasn't given much depth in this. Lord Stoker as a villain was more a convenience than intimidating. To some degree, all villains screw up, but to have the heart where she can easily find it & not keep it locked away or have it on him (shaking my head). The settings of Londoom, Hauntlywood, & New Gorleans were well described here and nicely portrayed in the movie. Oh and I'm glad they picked a monster (Clawdia) that represented a writer (which as you can tell I am).
RATING: 6 MH books/movies aren't really great on mystery plots. If you can even call them that. But the characters introduced as always were innovative, fun, & colorful. You can tell a lot of work goes into the detail of their look & outfits.

The second read book in this series. And this one is all about Draculaura, and, as you can probably guess, about movies and Hauntleywood (Hollywood). There is quite a bit of backstory as well, which I just loved.
Though then again, I also was a bit bored at times, because I knew exactly who the Vampire Queen was (thanks to another book I read in this series), and was frustrated that it took them THAT long to figure it out, even with all the hints throw around.
But (in the end) I did love the backstory (even if I knew most of it), it was interesting to read about it again, and to find out even more things about the vampire heritage.
And also Draculaura goes through an important event which made me smile. Yay, you go girl!
I also didn't particularly like the parts in-between with the whole discussion on who was the hottest star in that new movie. I just skimmed over them, and rolled my eyes at them. Meh.
One last thing I didn't like was Clawd and Draculaura's relationship. It was just a bit too creepy. I know he is a werewolf, but seriously, what kind of relationship do you have with him? It is more like dog and owner. Throwing balls, scratching his ear, playing fetch, and several other stuff. Sorry, but no.
I loved the fact that the book took place through the whole world (we see so many new places), and that it was like a giant puzzle to find out all the hints, and figure out where the heart was located (and to find the Vampire Queen as well). We meet several new ghouls and mansters and I hope we will be seeing them again soon.
I also have to say that I love the language that is used in this series. Ghouls, ghostwriter, claw-some, Fear Squad, and several others. It is quite simplistic, but it works so well!
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone. As for me? I will continue reading these Junior novels, and potentially watching the movies/specials as well. Since I am curious to see how it looks animated.

Paperback, a color section with photos and lots of black-and-white photos throughout the book. Based on the movie where Draculaura seems to be the heir to the vampire throne (and her father is pressing her on that). The real heir is elsewhere, incognito, and it's up to the ghouls to find her and convince her to take her rightful place.
The tall (17 inch) doll of her is really, really neat, by the way.

I really enjoyed reading this book with my niece while she has been learning to read. She loves the movies so getting her to read the books and watching her face light up with joy was so much fun.

Although I am not a big fan of Monster High, my kids enjoy it. They have always been a fan of anything Halloweeny. Enjoyed reading it to them.

This is a 4 graded on a curve, but this was a surprisingly fun read. I have never seen Monster High nor read any other books, but I thought this was well done. Very good option for kids who are fans.

In Monster High Frights camera action by Perdita Finn I love that book because says a lot about being a better person We talk about a monstrous school where there is a lot of talk about a group of friends. One of them is called Draculaura. She is the vampire girl. In the book she says that a vampire man who has been looking for her for many years because that man wanted a vampire girl to be queen of the vampire heart the man is bad wanted to do bad things with her after she was queen ,but in the end she discover the truth because her friends help her then she does not become the queen of the vampire heart.
