Scrapyard Ship #3

Space Vengeance

Rate this book
"The crazy ride continues... and never lets up!"

Captain Jason Reynolds is back! In the third installment of the Scrapyard Ship sci-fi adventure series, Space Vengeance, Jason, his family, and The Lilly's crew face the impending destruction of their internal nano-devices. What's worse, what remains of the Craing fleet, some 1500 warships, is back and headed straight toward the already decimated planets within Allied space. In what looks to be a one-way suicide mission, Jason must leave Nan and Mollie behind on Earth and out of harm’s way.

While war rages on sixty light years from Earth, maniacal space raider Captain Stalls and hundreds of his pirated warships close in on Earth. Stalls knows exactly what he wants: to find and kill Captain Reynolds and take the beautiful Nan Reynolds for his own.

Note from the author:
If you've made it to this third installment, you already realize this is an ongoing series. With that said, more often than not these books have cliff-hanger endings!

This is number 3 in the Scrapyard Ship series. Just a fun story and I'm so happy that people liked it. Here is just one of the reviews from Space Vengeance: "No details, no spoilers here just the basics. the trilogy is as said a fun read with several surprising and well-placed plot twists. if hard science isn't your thing then not to worry this isn't in the same league as say the red mars trilogy by kim s. robinson. the first few chapters of the first book are a little slow but when setting up so many characters in so many universes and dimensions a good writer knows to lay out a proper foundation so the rest of the book/s flows well and "make sense." McGinnis is, to be honest, the newest author to make my "best of" list. that said I do have one minor gripe in that I mean by the time I got to the end of the third book, totally engrossed in the fast-paced action and thinking at the time how is this going to conclude? but a couple of pages left? it didn't. rather the book was left open-ended with several storylines left open-ended. UNTIL Mr. McGinnis writes a fourth book or starts work on another series of books to begin where this series ended I'll never know what finally happened to the scrapyard universe/s. that said this series is one that genuinely gets better and better the more you've read of it. surprises, multiple storylines, well-written characters all done well. better still when McGinnis makes use of some aspect of physics, science in general he gets it right, no sloppy ridiculous errors that too many contemporary authors are okay with. imho when it comes to genres science fiction readers are more informed than most and we catch those errors, every one of them on the spot. it is so refreshing that this author took, takes the time to get even the most minor of details right.

SO PLEASE MR. MCGINNIS GET THE NEXT BOOK OUT ASAP, many of us are eagerly waiting to find out what happens next!

Very good addition to the series. Jason, Ricket, and the crew of the Lilly have to deal with multiple challenges against the Craing empire. They must overcome personal challenges, and create or find new technologies to aid them in their battles against the vastly larger Craing fleets. Oh, by the way, Captain Stallings and his band of pirates continue to plague Jason and the Lilly crew. And Jason and his father, Admiral Reynolds, must deal with the US military and try to reassemble the Allied forces to confront the Craing again. Each of these challenges would be enough for any single book, but of course the team never faces just one insurmountable challenge. Not, especially, when facing off against the galaxy spanning Craing empire. Enjoy the book. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

An MWM. SYFY. Novel (SSSB - 3)

MWM. has. penned the third novel in the Scrapyard Ship series, which continues the intergalactic war as more people enter the fray. The return of the pirate causes a panic across the US as the pirate spaceships destroy everything in sight when looking for Nan, Jasons wife, as the battle ranges 75 light years away the people of Earth and especially the military. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

Aliens, pirates, the US government. These are all the bad guys. If you're reading the series, this book solves the problem posed in the last book at the end. But honestly this series is getting a little more meh than entertaining. L. J. Ganser on audio is what's pushing it for me. I like Jason Reynolds less and less and good grief the plot is all over the place.

Still I'm going to keep at it and finish the series. I'll just be taking breaks.

Continued Action And Peril

The saga continues non stop from the previous book. Jason continues to be lucky on a just in time basis. I like the main characters and feel anxious when they are in danger. I like the action, humor, and romance. The action creshendos through the end and beyond.

These are fun books to read, but McGinnis has been putting too many F bombs in the books for my taste. They do keep you going, and are full of surprises, and the characters are likeable. Good, original Sci-fi for the most part - except for the foul language.

Things got real…

War is hell and all hell has broken loose. So much is happening on so many sides it has become impossible to keep up… This is some of the best military science fiction I’ve ever read. Best read of 2020. Book four here I come.

Good space opera

Good characters - good guys and bad guys alike. Some interesting physics (suspend disbelief required). I especially like the rhino warriors

Great book. Great series.

I love this series. It is the modern version of H. P. Piper's books. I can't wait to read more.

Entertaining

A wonderful and entertaining read, as has been the first few of the series i have read so far. The characters are believable, rather than superbeings.

Twists

Twist and turns seems to be the standard rule for this series. Normally I can predict the plots but not here.

Achingly heavy and fast paced

Roller coaster combat and vast leaps forward towards enemies friend and foe alike. Heavy fall the hammers of interstellar war.

Lots of twists and turns again.

I probably wrote this the last time but I’ll say it again. I’m really liking this series. Lots of intense Space Opera going this way and that way.

The Scrapyard Ship continues on with more obstacles for Captain Jason Reynolds to overcome, some new friends, new enemies, and more of the same — in a good way. There's the familiar humour, the expectation, easily met, of a complex adventure plot, hard sci-fi concepts that fit into Jason's story and help him in his war against the Craing, which at this point still ain't over, and the beloved characters. Ricket, Mollie, Nan, Billy Hernandez, Dira and The Lilly's crew are all still fighting, still quirky and lovable, and still worth caring about every time the ship finds itself in trouble, as it was at the end of HAB 12.

If you liked the other books, of course you will continue to be in for a treat. This one is a little different, but no less addictive.

Okay. So the general coolness of the technology introduced is all good, but really Mark?

*** Spoiler Alert ***

How is it that the pirate captain can so miraculously survive 15 shots to his body and then still recover enough to kill? This is so "made for TV" that I almost decided not to start your fourth book. And leaving the battle to try and save one person? I felt compelled to drop my rating from 4 to 3 stars.

This the 3rd book in the "Junkyard Ship" series by Mark Wayne McGinnis . In this one Captain Jason Reynolds and his crew are having to once again defend Earth and the other Alliance planets from the alien Craing. Meanwhile the maniacal space pirate Captain Stalls is making his way to Earth with his fleet with designs on kidnapping Jason's ex-wife Nan Reynolds and their daughter Mollie. This is another grand Space Opera adventure and a fun read. I highly recommend it.

Could use a spreadsheet...

...to keep all of the aliens and other characters straight. But I had a great time reading the first three installments of the Scrapyard Ship series, and am looking forward to the next one.

Don't read these books if you're a theoretical physicist, or if you want to be educated, just grab another beer and get ready for another alien to get squished!

A great third outing in this series, I am really enjoying this series and the speed at which these books are released, we don't have to wait long between cliff hangers! I love the technology and fresh ideas as well as the slowly unraveling of the mystery of the threats as well as the builders of the ship.

Scifi at its best, highly recommended.

Once again an excellent book to read. Not only must they battle an awesome array of space craft from an invading
army bent on conquering the universe, but must also must stop a huge fleet of spacecraft controlled by pirates.
Plenty of exciting action and lots of twists in the plot. Very enjoyable to read!

And so the battle continues

The battle has continued, with Jason and his crew getting help from new allies, some which prove to be false. But we see the alliance with Jason father leading the way, starting to get on top. Things go to pot. Looking forward to reading the next book.

Great series continuing

I'm loving the nonstop action of this series. The characters are fun and the universe is ever changing. I also love the serial style of the series.

Wish the science was a bit more firm. Lot's of hand waving and deus ex machina.
