Feedback by Lisa Montanino. - Book Review.

“Feedback” is the first full-length novel by Lisa Montanino and it follows the fortunes for a year of Claire Convenzionale. Claire’s a modern woman who just happens to be a morning radio presenter at a New York rock radio station.

She’s also down in the dumps because she’s recently broken off with her fiancé because of his substance abuse, though she’s putting a brave face on things. She’s now free and open to anything the world has to offer, and floating on the margins of rock music, she isn’t short of opportunities.

In her quiet moments she frets that she hasn’t presented her grounded and adoring parents with grandkids, just like her sisters have done, but hey, everyone can’t be the same, and there are different paths in life for all of us, and still plenty of time for the desirable Claire.

“Feedback” is a modern novel set against a music background and one that will certainly appeal to modern young women. And it’s also easy to read, easy to get into, and well written, something that not all modern indie fiction achieves, and because if that I suspect it will find a wider audience.

There’s lots of snappy and realistic dialogue in there too, much of which I imagined had actually been spoken by someone, and that’s always a sign of accurately recorded speech.

It’s not the kind of thing I would normally read, but I enjoyed it and I see that a follow-up is mooted and I’m sure a lot of readers would be interested in that too. Recommended.

Claire Convenzionale is a typical member of the millennial generation. A New Yorker, she has achieved success in her chosen profession as a radio DJ. Her personal life is something altogether different. After ending a long time relationship because of his drug abuse, she spends the next year making new friends of her radio interns, partying, and renewing old acquaintances which may or may not lead to long lasting happiness.
There are some complications, though, that may change her happily ever after to something not so happy.

I enjoyed this look at life in a different generation. If you’re a person in your twenties or early thirties, I think you’ll love the book.

The word 'Feedback' attains a special meaning in this novel of the same name. 'Feedback' is a 'piece of life' story of a young Claire Convenzionale. She is a New York radio DJ with a popular morning show.

On the outside, she seems to have everything that takes to make a woman like her happy. However, there is a discord inside her that pinches her heart constantly. Unfortunately, she herself seems to be the cause of much of the problems in her life. She has a self-destructive trait in her that causes pain not only to herself, but also to others around her.

I had the pleasure of reading Ms. Lisa Montaninos’ new novel 'Feedback' recently.
Having followed Ms. Montanino on her journey from inception to completion I was thrilled with her finished work. Funny, poignant and very real, it engages the reader from the beginning. Her characters are described in depth and are a diverse bunch. She has produced a well written book with great sharp, insightful and humorous dialog, it is a wonderful read.

Feedback is a tantalizing glimpse into the heart and mind of Claire Convenzionale, a young, attractive, highly successful radio DJ, with a less-than-successful handle on her personal life. There is a relatable, underlying sadness to this complex character's search for ultimate happiness. The endearing protagonist is a highly-driven, confident, on-air personality who is totally unable to fully trust her own instincts on pretty much everything in her off-air life, consistently looking to everyone else to validate the admittedly, questionable choices she continues to make in her love life.
Feedback is a well-crafted character study. Well worth the read. I highly recommend it.

Feedback is an outstanding narrative but aside from that, the underlying theme of feedback is very good. The different types of feedback that Claire experiences in the tumult of her life after her failed engagement are representative of the negative and positive influences that the average person experiences. All-in-all, the story will be enjoyed by most everyone and the overriding theme of feedback is ripe for literary criticism.

You don't have to be an urban-dwelling millennial to thoroughly enjoy Feedback by Lisa Montanino. It's easy to get absorbed into Claire's life and feel what she feels. If you're looking for realistic characters, believable dialogue, and a unique story, this is a great choice. This work is quite original in voice and style. I look forward to reading more!!
