The It Girls #4

Ms. Longshot

Rate this book
IT GIRL: Alexa Cheltingham
MISSION: Pose as a grubby groom to stop a high-stakes horse killer and protect the Mayor of New York's show-jumping daughter.

A Cheltingham shoveling horse manure - what would Mother think? That was my first reaction when the Gotham Rose spy ring handed me this riches-to-rags assignment. But the country's top show horses were dying suspiciously and the Roses trusted me to catch the killer. My old leg injury wouldn't stand in my way, not by a longshot. I'd muck stalls and uncover the dirty secrets of the equine world's bigwigs, then clean up in time to host the Horses of Hope charity ball. Speaking of the ball, I'd love to have charmer Ross Hardel for my date... Too bad he's my prime suspect.

When Alexa Cheltingham was in her teens she lost a leg to an accident. Still she doesn't let that keep her down. She's a Gotham Rose but yearns for the excitement of an assignment. Her impetuous nature keeps her back. When she's offered an assignment in the horse world she jumps at the chance.

Featuring twins, one evil, one suspicious, horses being nobbled and regularly killed and a woman who can't find someone who can see beyond her prosthetic leg, it's a fun, light read. There are times when things are a little too pat but overall not a bad read.

good suspense. i love books about horses and horse racing, so i probably enjoyed this one more than the actual literary value would be to others.
