Nix DeAngelo has always known that vampires existed. Hell, they’ve been out since the sixties. He just never knew he’d fall for one. And Alexander Roark, a fiercely alpha, magnificent male, is way out of his league.
Even when he first meets Roark in the VIP section of an upmarket club and believes he is human, Nix knows that. It may be lust at first sight, but tough, independent Nix walks away from the devastating male. He has enough trouble in his life. Like dealing with the aftermath of family tragedy and being a big brother to his sister, Samantha. And raising money to pay off the mountain of debt the siblings have been left with.
Some of the ways he pays those debts aren’t pretty. When he meets him again, Roark is his purchaser for the night. And not concealing his true identity as a vampire. What Nix doesn’t realize is that the two have a history that goes back for centuries. One of a dark, vicious love. Even those of Roark’s own bloodline, the Hellfire Vampires, do not trust him. They remember just what his previous incarnation, Nikolai, was. A killer. A slaughterer. The infamous Bloodletter.
To save Roark from his enemies, Nix must let go of his human existence. Become a vampire. But if he does so, will his dark side, the Bloodletter, be let loose?
Even Roark cannot answer that.

I’ve been an artist, a web designer, and a really unreliable cook. I love to write wicked hot erotic romance with fiercely passionate, alpha characters, and love tatts, film and fast cars. And judging by that last trio, I'm also extremely shallow!
I am a huge fan of authors who write those magic books you just can't put down, brilliant comedians (hello Eddie Izzard and Russell Brand!) and spoilers. Spoiler alert, bah humbug!
I love to hear from readers and can be reached via my blog, Facebook page or Twitter.
First of all, if you expect light and easy read featuring rich mysterious vampire seducing the damsel-in-distress human with some hot sex thrown in, stop right there. Because this story is so much more. I crave, literally crave books like this - romance featuring vampires, but not the "holy" kind (I've read my share of books with the likes of those), but the kind who are deadly, dark and dangerous. And even if the MCs were maybe too much on a "good" side for my taste (I love my vampires to be even evil sometimes) Nikolai wasn't...he was everything I've written above and so much more and the darkness his character brought was what truly made this book for me.
Not to sound like this book was about Nikolai (because it wasn't), this is first of all one powerful love story...and with one of my favorite themes - reincarnation. The juxtaposition the author created between Nix and Nikolai was done in an excellent way, and it also helped develop Nix as a character. Since we only get Nix's POV, he is the most fleshed out character, understandably so since this is his story, but which is not to say that the others weren't, especially Roark. Oh, how I felt for him...I didn't need his POV to know and feel the pain he's carried for so long and the love he carried for Nix.
I usually don't comment on sexual content in a review, but I just have to mention how erotic sex scenes here were...it's one of those things we usually associate with vampires - sex and the bloodlust of course. I've read my share of books with vampires where sex is almost vanilla, and here it's anything but...and I liked that - I like that Roark stayed true to his nature in that regard.
As I said, this is not light&easy kind of book, but not only because of its content and the darkness that seems to envelop it, but because of the writing itself...there is an actual depth to it, the likes of which I rarely see in this genre, and although confusing at times, I truly enjoyed it.
So, if you like vampires and romance little darker than usual, I wholeheartedly recommend this one!
By all rights and means, I really shouldn't have enjoyed this book as much as I did. After all, it's got some of the overdone tropes that have made me want to drive a stake through every vampire book I see:
1. Filthy rich vampires? Check. 2. Filthy rich vampires who are too sexy for their shirts? Check. 3. Vampire-slash-faux-BDSM club scenes filled with only the gorgeous, the young and the skinny people? Check. 4. "The One"? Check.
Yes, I should have facepalmed big time.
So then why four stars?
Because the author told a damn good story with characters that I actually cared about, though admittedly I loved Nix far more than Roarke (the vampire hero). Nix had a backstory, a realness to him. The fact that he was willing to do whatever it took (including prostitution) to keep his only family-his sister Samantha-in some semblance of normalcy was heartbreaking yet hopeful. That in spite of being mysteriously attracted to the arrogant Roarke, she was never too far from his mind. I also liked that he was just as alpha as his soon-to-be vampire lover. He didn't become some swooning Perils of Pauline-type who suddenly needed to be rescued (after all he was still a mere human).
I also appreciate that the author didn't commit genderfail in a M/M story (something that happens far too often for my liking). The female characters-Samantha, Gena (Nix's ride or die best friend), and even Lucrezia-were all fully actualized. They weren't weak or props for the male characters. And honestly, I think Samantha needs her own story. She's a lot savvier than her brother realizes.
Yes, there's sex. It's hot. It's icing on the cake. However, if there wasn't any at all, you'd still have a compelling story.
I wish I could say I liked this story more than I did. It had all the good elements for a great vampire story (action, blood, sexiness), but I didn't like the writing style at all. I couldn't stay focused on the story and was easily distracted, having to stop once in a while and ending up reading the book in a few days instead of a few hours. At least I didn't think it was bad enough to just leave it and not finish it.
This was a me thing. I wasn't a fan of the author's writing style. IMO the flow was off most of the time and I found myself wanting to do anything besides read this :( So, needless to say I only got to the 13% mark.....
My main problem was that Nix was blamed for what Nikolai did in a previous life. also that Reincarnation felt like just a plot point and not a part of the universe the story is set in.
This wasn't all I hoped it would be. Maybe it's me and not the story but I couldn't connect with It. I found myself always dropping it for something else. Took me almost 3 days to finish what should have been a 5 hr book. I can't even say whether it was the writing or the characters but I was bored, my curiosity and the fact that I just couldn't not finish another book was what kept me going. I don't think I'll be reading the next one .
I tried this book two times and I could never go beyond 30%. Pretty sure it has a good plot and interesting characters but everything moved in a speed of a death snail. Repeating scenes, word choice..overall the writing style messed it up for me. It annoyed the crap out of me to read things for 5th time and jumping from one scene to another, without any anchor.
If you like stories about vampires (the good and the bad) and soul mates you will enjoy this book. It is the story about love, obsession, rage and reincarnation. It is tragic and beautiful and worth reading over and over.
This was everything that I was craving recently. I wanted sexy vampires, touches of darkness, and an HEA, and this book deliveries on them all.
I loved that the dynamic between Rourke and Nikolai was significantly different than between Rourke and Nix. And the conflict in Nix, trying to reconcile himself with his memories of what happened before was delightfully dark.
This is a terrific intense story about the relationship between two male vampires through the ages. I really enjoyed this book that introduces a world where vampires have been known to humans for years. The relationship between the two main characters is very intense and ultimately becomes a battle of internal demons and the idea of how someone becomes who they are. If you enjoy dark m/m supernatural tales then I recommend you read this book.
Loved this book! Great story of a reincarnated vampire that had none of the usual cliches! It was fresh, new, hot, sexy and just filled with dramatic moments between Roark and Nix! The perfect tragic story with a HA that makes you believe centuries of devotion!
