I picked up Beyond the Code expecting a deep dive into leadership skills for software engineers, only to find that the majority of the book was a basic primer on becoming a software developer. Leadership topics do not appear until near the end, making the title and premise misleading. If you are already an experienced engineer looking to grow as a leader, this book offers little value until its final pages. Even then, the insights feel surface level.

Additionally, the writing itself lacks polish, making me question whether this book was written by AI and then actually proofread by a human. The content feels generic and uninspired, raising doubts about its originality. At only 58 pages, (and LARGE PRINT mind you to make it seem larger) it certainly does not justify the price. Save your time and money for resources that offer real, actionable leadership guidance.
