Chasing other assassins only to be chased then escape and continue a deadly profession - 4.5 stars

High levels of excitement continue in this series as Xavier Saint makes his shots count and keeps his head. There are similarities to previous adventure (shooting, chasing and planning transactional deals) but, as before, the action is fresh and imaginative. There are plenty of opponents from other assassins for hire, the Russian SVR, the American CIA, and Israel's Mossad; many assassins have honor but their deals to survive another day are fleeting.

Starting in Bratislava, Slovakia but doing most of the "wet work" in Syria near Damascus, this episode is set for late 2024 and early 2025. It is just about half a year after identifiable crisis in the middle east and Ukraine. You need to be ready to move on. Yesterday's alliances get scrambled and realigned on the fly. I found it easy to accept that the successful assassins (you are successful only if you stay alive), know their opponents and may have worked with them on previous deals.

Because life is cheap and political alignments change quickly, it seemed reasonable to feel that as long as I (the reader) could watch without fear of becoming collateral damage, one could see the greed and lust for power to carve out a slightly longer professional life serving "leaders" who surround themselves with hired thugs to gain power and influence in the middle east. As presented, the world powers were jockeying to keep their influence strong and their allies of convenience functioning for another day or two.

Saint as captured and his phone and guns confiscated multiple times only to get everything back with a few additional weapons as well. There were multiple times when weapons were held aimed at Xavier Saint only to be changed in a fight, negotiations or when more hands with guns were needed to balance the possibilities in a gunfight. There were many gunfights and car chases with guns blazing. Shots were exchanges by the pursuers and the people being chased.

More than one of the gun battles/car chases were particularly interesting when the tables turned due to surprises which make this adventure quite lively. There are some glances of Saint with Hannah and Sarah which suggest a family-oriented career. Is Saint thinking of a different lifestyle? Is is reasonable to even consider that an assassin could retire other than by death?

Another action-packed thriller with Saint involved with various secret spy agencies as he sets out to sever relationships with one assassins’ network – permanently! This is necessary to protect his wife and daughter but also to prove his innocence of a crime he has been accused of. Initially the story commences as Saint chases a former high-ranking officer of the Russian SVR who has gone rogue and who is looking for a buyer for some stolen uranium. The Soviet is attacked by assassins, then defended by Saint, but together they are cornered by other assassins known to Saint and who have had previous dealings. So, the treachery of the various assassins and the spy networks commences, and the story becomes involved when the CIA enter the story, then the Syrian General Intelligence Service (GIS), the Russian SVR and eventually the Israeli Mossad. There are deals arranged, broken and then when Saint’s wife Hannah becomes involved because of her employment with Interpol and she is sent to Syria to apprehend a Syrian who is about to become a senior member of the Government, it becomes personal for Saint. Hannah is taken by the Russian SVR in retaliation for Saint’s escape from a short working relationship with them involving the rogue Russian and the up and coming Syrian.
The story is easy to read with plenty of action and flows well as Saint uses all his wits and abilities to stay ahead of the spies and killers he has to deal with. There are many twists and turns to navigate but this book is highly recommended.

the fourth installment of Ethan’s Saint Assassin Series, the high-stakes journey of Xavier Saint continues with gripping intensity. A former assassin framed for a murder he didn’t commit, Saint is still on the run — but he’s not just trying to clear his name. He’s hell-bent on dismantling the deadly network that betrayed him, not only to prove his innocence, but to protect the ones he loves.

What Saint believes is a breakthrough might just blow up in his face. With every step, he’s met with double-crosses and unexpected developments that turn the mission into a minefield of deceit.

As always with Ethan, readers can expect a masterclass in fast-paced action and intricate plotting. This is a real page-turner, packed with the trademark “tradecraft and cunning” we’ve come to admire. It’s clever, clean storytelling — rich in suspense and excitement.

This time, the stakes climb even higher with the arrival of the Russian SVR — a group Saint knows all too well. Their involvement throws everything into chaos, adding layers of danger and uncertainty to an already volatile situation.

And just when things couldn’t get more complicated, Saint’s enigmatic partner, Hannah, appears in Damascus — blurring lines, raising questions, and changing the game entirely.

Full of twists, tension, and tightly wound suspense, this latest chapter in the Saint Assassin Series is everything fans have come to expect — and more.

The story begins with Saint in Slovakia where he prevents n attack on Evanoff who was looking for a buyer for uranium he had stolen from Ukraine. He is successful, however someone else gets the drop on him and he is taken with Evanoff by another buyer. Saint works out an arrangement with Robin, the buyer, to accompany Evanoff to Syria to deliver the uranium. Saint had gotten something in exchange for his help. Once they get to Syria thongs go from bad to worse. Saint had agreed to kill a Syrian as a part of his bargain. He was compromised and wound up assisting the SVR who told Saint that they wanted his help to abduct Barakat. After Saint and the SVR team captured Barakat, the individual Saint was to kill, things worked out differently.

Saint escaped from the SVR along with another person who had been captured along with Barakat. Now the two of them were being hunted by several groups. Things eventually came to a head.

To learn who the Indvidual that was also captured, how Hannah came into the picture and how it all worked out in the end, then you need to read this book. The ending is unexpected.

Another great story in the Saint series. Don't miss out.

Assassin Xavier Saint is in the ultimate deadly game—hunting a rival assassin group while being relentlessly pursued himself. In this explosive new installment from Ethan, the action never lets up, pulling readers into a pulse-pounding international thrill ride.

As Saint tries to cut deals and stay one step ahead, he finds himself trapped in a series of no-win situations, each more dangerous than the last. And just when it seems things can’t get worse, he discovers his wife and daughter are being held hostage—used as leverage to control him.

This story has so many different threads, that start out seeming to go in all different directions. Waiting to see how they’d all tie together had me balanced on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading. Saint has allies and enemies to help and hinder his mission. The real trick will be identifying which is which. This book kept me guessing with every page flip and I was invested in learning the truth from shortly after I cracked open the covers. There are still problems out there that Saint needs to ‘solve’ and I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book to discover what new adventure is in store for him.
I received a complimentary advance copy of this book from the author.

While is tries to prove his innocence he knows that his job is putting his family in danger.
He starts thinking that he has to quit this line of work to protect them but is uncertain how he'll go about it whiles stopping the sale of nuclear material.
Action from page one. Will Saint be successful in getting out of the assassin business? Ethan Jones fans will NOT be disappointed in his most recent novel. 5 stars +

Xavier Saint has so much to contend with throughout this book it's wonder the author kept it all in his head. Ethan Jones gives us another top quality action filled thrill ride with this instalment of the series. Whilst the overall arc of the series may not be concluded, all that Saint deals with throughout this book is brought together nicely by the end. This is truly addictive reading for fans of high action thrillers that are full of great characters that Saint can trust but maybe he shouldn't. Great read from Ethan Jones, as always.

Ethan Jones writes another in the Assassin series that keeps one’s attention as one goes along for a ride. Mr. Saint deals with all kinds of characters who seek to eliminate him. He gets into problems that a normal person would not solve but he comes out alive and kicking. Although the novel is part of a series, one can read it without reading the previous ones. As with all of Author Jones’ books, it is filled with interesting characters and a lot of action. If you like reading thrillers, this book is for you.

Xavier Saint really is facing in Assassin's Ambush such a plethora of lethal opposition of assassins and agents like you have never experienced anywhere else . Ever.
One such is a woman named Katia. She is real evil personified. Enough so as to still make cold thrills run down my back. Phew!
Yes, for once Saint is on the back foot fighting to survive numerous unexpected encounters every few chapters that is plain jaw dropping
Enjoy.
