After leaving Cimmeria filled with wanderlust, a young Conan heads north in search of glory.
What he finds in that cold climate will change his outlook forever, setting him on the path that will make him a LEGEND.
The triumphant new era of Conan continues in this tale of brutal heroic adventure from acclaimed creators Jim Zub (Avengers, Dungeons & Dragons) and Doug Braithwaite (Punisher, Justice)!
Jim Zub is a writer, artist and art instructor based in Toronto, Canada. Over the past fifteen years he’s worked for a diverse array of publishing, movie and video game clients including Disney, Warner Bros., Capcom, Hasbro, Bandai-Namco and Mattel.
He juggles his time between being a freelance comic writer and Program Coordinator for Seneca College‘s award-winning Animation program.
Anyone familiar with Robert E. Howard's short story, The Frost-Giant's Daughter, will be at hearth and home in this whirlwind of a re-telling. This story follows several other issues that paved the way for Howard's original short story to take place. Without spoiling, I have always felt this story had a bit more of a mythical quality than most Conan yarns, as it deals more directly with the gods and Norse mythology. It's an adventure worth delving into again and again, no different here. The art and writing have captured the mystical, salacious and errant spirit of the original works, while driving the fervor, fury and passion to its heights. Just as Howard would have done himself, if he were in the comic medium. 10 out of 10 axes. Another slam dunk by Conan ballers, Zub and Braithwaite, and more! Keep it coming!

"Of course, BLACK-HAIR is the lone survivor. His candle burns BRIGHTER than the rest." - Atali
Taking Howard's tale full circle, we see Atali's perspective without losing Howard's and Conan's. Doug Braithwaite keeps the art popping, with a few brutal shots of Death's presence, as well as sinewy action and robust curves.
This is the ending of the Frost Giant's daughter. Conan meets her brothers, apparently besting them, so she calls on her dad to save her. When Conan is found, he tries to explain, but what's in his hand, speaks louder than words.
The Frost Giant's Daughter is always a good read, wether in story form or comic form. I have enjoyed each and every version. The artwork is very well done.
This comic is recommended for those that have read and kept up with this series to date, and for others that enjoy this genre.
I read the print version of the comic. Part III of the Frozen Faith story arc, Gods of the North, an adaptation of Robert E. Howard’s “Frost-Giant’s Daughter.” Although this tale has been adapted in comic form before, this version comes with an interesting lead-up in the last two issues. This version differs from past tellings in that we hear Atali’s thoughts, her motivations in this story. She is fickle and arrogant as befits a god. Jeffrey Shanks’s essay on the history of REH’s “Frost-Giant’s Daughter” and its comic adaptations was illuminating. I didn’t know about The Fantasy Fan or Star-Studded Comics. It’s also good to see Titan really advertising the prose line of Conan and other REH characters in the inside cover. The cover art by Mahmud Asrar is good, but Jessica Fong’s alternate cover looks amazing!
A culmination of the "Frost-Giant's Daughter", Conan bests the sons of Ymir. Zub utilizes a substantially more poetic prose to drive the story towards its climax, and this might just be his best issue on the series yet. Coupled with the gorgeous artwork from Doug Braithwaite and Diego Rodriguez, Conan the Barbarian #15 continues to demonstrate why this is the best ongoing comic series currently.
Poetic writing. Great story and information at the end about the Frost-Giant's daughter. Would love to read more like this featuring the same characters.
