Full disclosure on this one: I have been friends with Adam for many years, and he is one of my favorite people. Even with this bias, I'm going to be honest with you: this book was such a smooth read. He did a beautiful job. Adam's writing is so conversational and warm, and his passion comes through effortlessly. It's like having a close conversation with someone who's telling you their most amazing experiences, perhaps while leaning forward over a table in the corner of a small room.
Adam approaches the paranormal with respect and reverence, and this book is full of stories that are so comforting and interesting. My favorite thing about it, though, is that while theories and compelling evidence are presented, he doesn't try to convince you to believe one way or the other when it comes to ghosts. He tells you about his experiences and lets you draw your own conclusions. Your opinions are respected, whether you agree that ghosts are real or not. (But the stories in this book are so intriguing that personally, I was a believer before and I'm even more so a believer now.) He also attempts to answer specific questions that people have asked him over the years to the best of his ability, but he's honest: There are no definite, concrete answers out there. This book is actually great for believers and skeptics alike, (though having an open mind is always a good thing.)
Be prepared for some emotional, touching moments. And this is coming from someone with a self-proclaimed heart of ice. I may have shed a tear or two reading this, but I will deny it if you ask! Amazing book, Adam! I'm so impressed with this, and I absolutely caught all of those RENT references. <3
