First let me get it out of the way---I am biased. Jessica is my friend and sent me a copy of her lovely book. But you know what? Even if I didn't know her, if I had just seen this amazing collage cover and title while browsing in a local bookshop, I would have picked it up. And loved it. There's a throughline of women and nourishment---sometimes metaphorical, sometimes very literal. Very relevant to my interests, you might say. Being fed, being satisfied, left wanting. Feeding, literally becoming food (my friend Jessica wrote a SONNET ABOUT BREASTFEEDING! I want to shout from the rooftops!) This collection spans from childhood through the discovery of early adulthood to motherhood, playing in many different forms. I absolutely adore the fact that some of these poems RHYME. I love the bravery and honesty of using various formal elements to tell personal and sometimes uncomfortable stories about parents, lovers, children. A really, really fantastic book of poetry. Highly recommend.
